Small restaurant, we didn't have reservations. Quite surprised they weren't crowded in a Fri evening. Perhaps the location. They have 9 booths with a couple bar seats. Each booth seats 4. We ordered oxtails with string beans and sweet potatoes. Short rib with dressing and mac and cheese. Fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs for appetizers. The deviled eggs were too sweet for me. Fried tomatoes were ok, came with a sauce that reminded me of a sweet gravy. The dressing and string beans came out cold. We had to send them back to be warmed up. Mac and cheese was good. Not the best but doable. The oxtails and short ribs were delectable. They charge $2 extra for EVERYTHING. If you want cranberry sauce, jerk sauce, anything it's $2.

Great ambiance great music at the right volume. The host was taking care of alot from taking orders to mixing drinks and even running out to the store to buy the liqour lol but in no way form or fashion was the service terrible, it was a Excellent experience. MAAAAANNNNN those POT ROAST EPINADA'S Are worth a visit and could easily feel you up! The gravy compliments them so well! Everything was seasoned to perfection and cooked for the GOD'S!!!!! The portion sizes were so crazy you were excited to see someone else get their food! The fried okra was definitely prepared in house because that breading was fire! The catfish Excellent! Everything we had that day was excellent! The host definitely deserves whatever credit bonus or recognition you guys give excellent BLACK OWNED ESTABLISHMENT! 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

The food was so good and CJ our hostess was awesome!! She knew the food and drink menu in every way! She made suggestions and they were great! Myself, my son 22 and daughter 20 with my grandson 1, we had a wonderful experience! I made our reservations on open table at 1pm 7/12/25 and it was perfect. We gave everything a 10/10 including the drinks 😍😍So if you’re in the area ask for CJ she will definitely take care of you💯

Went for my birthday with my two friends. Got a free bday shot of unknown sweet liquor. Music was nice. Old school. The drinks were good. Great service. Bartender and waitress were wonderful. There was a waiter that was a little confused and almost gave us someone else's tacos mid meal. Nice atmosphere. Black painted walls with neon signs. I live in the neighborhood so we walked over. Now the food. . . OMG chyle! Had to go straight to the entrees. Me and my homegirl ordered lamb chops Medium Rare. As you can clearly see from the pictures they were not Medium Rare. One of the orders was overly cooked and both orders were extra super salty. Got a couple of appetizers that we didn't take pictures of and one of them was also salty. First was the Three Pot Roast Empanadas. Based on the name we thought we were getting THREE empanadas. We ordered it because there were Three of us and we each wanted one. There were two empanadas and they were cut in half. 4 pieces total. Whoomp. Excellent they were. Hot, crispy, seasoning was balance. Delicious. Change the Name to Two Pot Roast Empanadas. The jerk chicken tacos were super salty but the shrimp tacos were delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. There were 3 of each taco. The fries were salty. The green beans were salty. My other friend ordered the ribeye Well Done and they gave it to her Medium. They were not too good with cooking red meat at different temperatures. The yams were really good, so good that my one friend got an order to go and ate it before we even left. 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill when it is more than two people 😭. Needless to say I was just as salty as the food that we were forced to pay 20% and didn't even enjoy the meal. My homegirl took her lamb chops home and couldn't even get her dog to eat them because they were just too salty. She ended up having to throw them away. It was almost a $300 bill. My other homegirl has been wanting to go since we stay in the same building and it's within walking distance. I suggested not to. The one in Hyde Park pays more attention to detail food wise. Go there instead.

Margaritas had waaaay too much sugar. When asked if we could try a different flavor, we were instantly met with hostility. Therefore we just ordered shots to add to them (I honestly think dude forgot to add liquor). I ordered sweet corn, sweet enough to cause diabetes should have been under it. And it was overcooked, dry and out of a can. The mashed potatoes were instant. The gravy was good the chops were tough.

I had a wonderful experience dining at Jocelyn’s in Chicago. The food was fresh, hot, and full of flavor true, delicious soul food. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and offered great menu suggestions. I especially loved the soul rolls, which were perfectly crispy and made for a fantastic appetizer. The portion sizes were generous, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The only issue we encountered was that checks are not split, and unfortunately, we were not informed of this policy beforehand, which made dividing the bill a little challenging. Despite that, the overall experience was excellent, and I would absolutely recommend Jocelyn’s to anyone looking for authentic soul food in Chicago.

Google
This place is AWESOME we had a party of four...we didn't have a wait to be seated, parking spot not that far. Our waitress was India and she matched the vibe AWESOME. She answered all our questions abt the selections. Our food came fast and hot and it was good, those greens were magnificent...pork chops and oxtail were tender, gravy was so damn good. I really had a great time, environment was beautiful.....will most definitely be back next time I come to The Chi I most definitely gonna come back.

Yelp
I loved everything about this cafe! Big shoutout to the waiter Mateo & the Bartender Masani! Great people, very friendly! I will be back to visit!

Yelp
I loved everything about this place Had good time food was delicious had a great waiter in Tay. Also I had a Great Bartender with Awesome customer service. She was very nice and even had conversation with me. She even helped me book a reservation. Will Definitely be coming back!

Troy T.

Yelp
The food the was so delicious & the service was excellent I would highly recommend this place to anyone if they haven't ate there. It's an experience that people won't forget. Masani was a great bartender/hostess she was a great person & if she's not the manager she needs to be one because she was great. The over all atmosphere was wonderful I felt very relaxed & comfortable. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This restaurant lands in my Top 10 in Chicago. I have a few friends who were visiting Chicago and wanted the locals experience. Jordyn's Soul Cafe was one of the restaurants I had on the list for outings and there was no disappointment at all. The cocktails that we ordered were of the "if I were to mix this at home" variety. They were not heavy-handed with alcohol and they weren't watered down. Goldilocks would have approved. We started with fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and deviled eggs. Whatever dipping sauce came with the tomatoes was a very good option. We also used it for dipping the fried okra. With all of us being from the South, we totally approved of the deviled eggs. As to the entrees, here is where it became obvious that the chef does not play. Plates that came to the table were lamb chops with macaroni and cheese and broccolini; salmon with sweet potatoes and string beans with potatoes; chicken lasagna; and catfish with spaghetti and greens. Yes, it took awhile for the entrees to come to the table, but that was assurance that nothing was microwaved and rushed to us immediately after our orders were taken. When we arrived, the hostess informed us that the kitchen was behind and that there was going to be a wait before we were seated. I appreciate that kind of up-front acknowledgement, which meant that we adjusted our expectations accordingly. Nevertheless, Jordyn's exceeded our expectations once we sat and got started.

Yelp
I'm going to preface my review saying that during our visit for dinner to the restaurant this evening, the host did inform us right away that despite the fact that they have a fully stocked bar in plain sight, they do not yet have their liquor license and so are not serving alcohol yet. They allow customers to byob but then charge 25% fee to drink it in the restaurant. We came to dine at 6:30 on a Wednesday, the place was not packed. It wasn't empty at all, but there were open tables. The host said we could not be seated until our entire party (of 3) arrived. Not a fan of that policy when your restaurant is not poppin with a line around the corner. We were taken to a dark corner they said is the waiting area, away from the main entrance so we couldn't see when our other party member arrived unless we stood facing the door. We were seated, at the same empty table that was there when we first arrived, and were greeted by our server who was friendly and attentive. He made recommendations for us and checked in on us throughout our time. His service was great. We started off with the jerk chicken tacos. The jerk chicken was well seasoned and had a nice jerk kick, but not served with any jerk sauce which I tend to prefer. The tacos were topped with shredded cheese, onions, a little cilantro and a sweet and slightly spicy sauce on the side. I wished there was a slaw or some sort of refreshing topping instead to offset the kick of the jerk chicken, but they were ok. For my meal I ordered the catfish with Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. The catfish fillets were a good size, props to them on that because many restaurants skim on the fillets. However, the catfish dinner with 2 sides is $32, so for that price for catfish, they should be substantial! That's very high for catfish and two small sides. Unfortunately, the first fillet I ate was fine, but the second fillet was inedible- way over salted/over seasoned. The Mac was pretty good, very creamy. Better than other soul food Mac that I've had. The mashed potatoes were not memorable. My friend had the lamb chops, she said they were very good. Not cooked medium, but nonetheless good. She had the cabbage and Mac and cheese sides; she did not like the Mac but the cabbage was very good and tender (I tasted it too). My daughter had the catfish also, hers was also over seasoned so she only picked at it. She got the Mac and greens as her sides. The greens were not seasoned at all but had plenty of turkey in them. They did not have sprite, and did not have desserts because their person was out sick. Unfortunate. The prices are high. I'm including pictures of their "planned" drink menu, these are club prices. And the entrees are definitely high for this establishment. There's nothing elevated about the eating experience that warrants these high prices, so that feels like a misalignment. I will also say the Host needs some work on being welcoming and not paying extra attention only to the male customers who are dining in. I hoped for more but unfortunately my experience was not overwhelming. Don't think I'd return given the fact that the food was not amazing, and the prices are very high for an underwhelming meal.

Yelp
The food I think was over priced for the quality (please refer to my chicken picture). The place is small but intimate and the strobe lights were killing me! The service was beyond slow. It took forever to get a server, a napkin, water, a hello, an anything! This establishment really needs help as far as more workers being available because when I went there was a non speaking worker that was bringing food orders and when asking a question or trying to inform her of anything all she did was nodded her head and walked off. I do like the fact that the food is made fresh...which is why I hope it was taking so long The pasta was delicious-no complaints...Jerk tacos- were very oily but they give you a lot of meat! The mashed potatoes were from a box and was sent back...they were out of several sides listed in the menu Will I return? No, poor service and another mediocre soul food joint that's overpriced!

Yelp
The food is 5 STARS but overall the entire dining experience was not Great! The food is seasoned to perfection and beautifully golden brown fried catfish. We made a reservation and came early still didn't get seated until 44minutes after our reservation time. We didn't receive our food for an additional 61 minutes after ordering. Our appetizers came out with our meals. Why would we stay because we were invested after waiting all that time and hungry. There were so many people waiting and it was very hot humid in the restaurant. The ceiling fans were not on and they were covered in dust. One of the food runners recommended special sauce for my mom's okra. I asked what's in it he would tell me just it's special. I tried one bite my tongue started to feel weird. I asked the server she didn't want to tell me either and I told her my allergies. Then she told me there is pineapple in the sauce guess we should tell people. Luckily I did not have more than one bite. The food was really over priced $106 for (4) catfish fillets, (4) small sides, and (1) side of okra with special sauce. 20% Gratuity automatically added and then the server had the nerve to ask for additional tip...it says 90 minute seating but we were waiting longer than 90minutes.

Cristina R.

Yelp
Made reservations for Sunday brunch. Got seated immediately. However service was slow. Seemed like there was only 1 server and 1 bus boy.they charge a 20% tip if party is bigger than 1. Therefore I guess there's no need for faster service. We did a lot of waiting. The best thing we had was the soul rolls. Everything else was okay. Valentine decorations still hanging everywhere weeks later.

Yelp
Jordyn's Soul Cafe was recommended by the mister. I had to try it out. When I walked in I was greeted. The ambiance was great. It felt like a place you would see on social media with the cool backdrop to take pictures. They do accept dinning in as well as take out. I had the Shrimp Alfredo, Spaghetti, Fried Chicken Special with Green Beans and Dressing and Soul Rolls. The Shrimp Alfredo was very good. The Fried Chicken was seasoned to perfection. I enjoyed all the sides except for the spaghetti it just was not for me. I've had Soul Rolls before, but these were different. I really enjoyed the soul rolls as they gave me an opportunity to try a different side as well. Overall, I think the food was very good for what I got. The mister has gotten some different items and has enjoyed them. I do think it is a little pricey for what you get but overall the taste was there.

Yelp
The food here is good, usually. I got the fried chicken dinner with fries and mac and the sides were good but the chicken was good until it wasn't. I got the mixed plate and my chicken breast was undercooked. I called the manager and they took it off my bill and got me something else for free. Despite that, the food was good. The jerk lamb chops were a bit salty but they have very good jerk sauce. I will be back, will probably get something else next time.

Yelp
My first time here and it was amazing. The food was seasoned to perfection. We didn't have to wait long & once the food arrived it was so fresh & hot. The pot roast empanadas is a MUST try.

Yelp
This is my first time at Jordyn's, my homegirl swears by it during her pregnancy. Thought it was a great idea to come after giving birth. The jerk shrimp tacos were pretty good, the drink was pretty tasty too, and the smothered pork chops were amazing. My only recommendation is to have better and sharper knifes to eat it. The cornbread and caramel cake was the worst thing that I have tasted. Overall, it was a good experience. The servicer was okay not great but not horrible. There was a lady with Nike pro pants that was a doll. Didn't get her name but I would've loved to have her as my servicer.

Yelp
Looking for Soul Food while visiting Chicago Jordyn's comes up on my TikTok So off to see what the Hype is about Parking was bad so that made this a Carryout order My daughter went in and placed out orders Hostess is also running food orders ...What can I say Team Player The music was on point... Decor was cute ... Lounge look with nice photo ops Now let's get to why we came We ordered 2 dinners (price $77.00) Fried Chicken wings w/Candied Yams and Mac n cheese Chicken was seasoned and fried well Candied Yams were really good Mac n Cheese was just that..,a little too loose for our liking Smothered Turkey Wings w/Cabbage & Collard Greens The Turkey Wings were seasoned and's tasty The gravy was on point (not salty) very tasty Be advised their Cabbage is errting... seasoned well and on point...DO NOT PASS IT BY The Collard greens were hard to review They started off ok but through the dinner they stated to have a weird taste... I'm not going to order them again All in all my wait time was good (20 minutes) Portions were really good (leftovers) Pricing was no different than what I'm used to paying Appearance of staff, location and restaurant was Nice (clean/bright/Chic) No complaints Go ahead and order ... Worth the visit

Yelp
Another place I hate I waited so long to try. I made reservations for 2pm, arrived at 1:40pm, seated at 2pm but wasn't waited on until 2:20pm. They were busy and the place is small, intimate. On to the food. The fried green tomatoes, excellent! The Oxtail and grits, AMAZING! The Jolly Rancher cocktail, A MUST TRY! I went on a Sunday and noticed the crowd died down after 3:30pm. Parking can be a hassle but they offer valet.

Yelp
I've been eager to try Jordyn's Soul Cafe for a while now. They are newly opened and located in the west loop. The ambiance is really chic and pretty. They play R&B music and hunny....I couldn't stop singing. I don't think there was one time I didn't sing along with a song playing. Anywho, it's decorated rather nicely. TV's on all sides of the room, neon lit signs, and roses near the front. They even have a grass wall and couch for you to take pictures in front of. And did I mention it's BYOB? My server was very nice, helped us with the menu. There were so many things I wanted to try so I was torn. But my waitress suggested a few things and I'm glad she did. I ended up ordering Turkey wings for my meal. It was nice to have those and I didn't have to wait for thanksgiving. They were so juicy and had so much flavor. There was so much sauce which I love!! And let's get into this kool-aid. It was so good. I haven't had kool-aid in years but today was the day. Omg all I have to say is nostalgia! Somebody mama was in the back stirring that up! We ordered a lot of food and everything was pretty good. I'll definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Y'all know I love a good happy hour and the one here doesn't disappoint! From Tuesday- Thursday, from 2pm-6pm, you get to try some of their menu favorites for just $7 A PIECE!!! In this video, you can definitely tell what was my favorite - The Mac and Yams Soul Rolls! YALLLLLLLL!!!! They were amazing and the dip they came with was I wasn't a huge fan of the deviled eggs because they were sweet and the jerk chicken tacos had a sweet sauce on them that I would definitely asked to be removed, if I got them again. Honorable mention to the lamb chops! They aren't on the $7 happy hour menu, but they were available for $15 and worth it. Since they're BYOB, grab a bottle of your favorite liquor and go check this black owned spot! Tell 'em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!! Food I tried: Fried Green Tomatoes Jerk Chicken Tacos Mac and Yams Soul Rolls Pot Roast Empanadas Deviled Eggs Lamb Chops You can check out my full video recap on my IG page - @planes_and_plates Enjoy!!!

Yelp
I adore supporting small biz; this was some of the worst service i ever experienced. You must remember it is the holidays and establishments are busy; we placed the order for food & drinks. The atmosphere & decor is superb reminds me of the Georgia food establishments. The vibe inside on point. We had prior conversations regarding the reviews so we made reservations for 8 pm We only received 2 of the 4 drinks ordered. After over an hour of enjoying the mood we questioned our food eta & was told its on the way the hour & 30 minute wait time was extremely excessive & i paid $80 for 4 drinks 1 was kiool-aid. So yes Jordyn wins the worst foodie experience i ever had in the chi; it saddens my soul stomach. Never will i support the small blk biz based on reviews. My hands on deck cant take dat take dat losses like that. I work in hospitality & i cant disappoint

Yelp
We stopped by while in town for the Beyoncé concert ! This place is new and came highly recommended . At this time it's only byob and they do not have a bar so before going check to see what they have in place . The food was not good overall but the service was really great ! The staff was amazing . We ordered oxtails to try and it was very fatty . The cornbread left a gritty aftertaste in our mouths. We left our lamb-chops on the table and did not enjoy seeing the seasoning salt just sitting on top of them . The food came out almost too hot , when we were leaving my sister was finally able to start to try her sweet potatoes . Unfortunately I can't say that I would recommend this restaurant at this time . There's a lot of great food in Chicago to try .

Sandra B.

Yelp
I'm only leaving one star due to the fact that this place made me pay a security when it was only two people dying I'm out of town from Dallas and this is my second time here because I love her food but you don't make me pay $40 on the 150 bill when I really wanted to do more than that and then the taxes is ridiculous as well if only she would think about the cause of people her customers when they come in and not herself and making sure they get paid and study her paying them this environment will be better but otherwise than that that's going to be my last time may you enjoy whomever read this review but this is the reason why African Americans do not support other African-American they too greedy and not responsible of please and the customer that's it for now

Yelp
This was no joke the best soul food I've had in years. The staff were attentive, the menu was incredibly diverse, and the drinks were strong enough that I had to have someone spell check this for me. The hardest thing was deciding what I wanted to eat. I will be back, and I will go broke eating here so often.

Yelp
Chicken was salty and the leg was the size of a fling ,the dressing had no taste, but it did have 2 bones go figure and the mashed potatoes was too salty
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I was really hoping for more from this place. I kept reading great reviews and decided to give it a try. When we arrived, I asked for recommendations, then asked about their fried chicken. The waitress said it was five pieces so I decided to ordered it so my friend and I could share. When my order arrived, what I got instead was a few chicken wings. When I questioned my entree, she proceeded to say that was the entree I ordered. I'm sorry but this was not worth the $30 I paid.
google avatar

LaTosha S.

Yelp
We had a reservation but I was feeling skeptical after reading some of the reviews. So, I intentionally made the reservation for a time when I wouldn't be hungry just yet so I'd be more patient. We arrived at the time our reservation was for, 4:45. We sat a little after 5 so not to bad. The waitress, pumpkin, was very nice. She let us know right away that the kitchen was busy so she took our entire order right away so the kitchen could get started. We had some water, chatted and listened to the music while we waited. The soul rolls came at a very reasonable time. They were really good. A little in the sweeter side which is how I like my yams so no complaints here on that. Just a heads up for anyone who doesn't like them that way. Our food took a while to arrive but it was piping hot when it got there so it was definitely fresh. I tried everything except the salmon and chicken. My son said his chicken was amazing. He gave it a 10. My mom said her salmon was ok. Not bad but nothing to write home about. My breakdown is as follows: Catfish 10 Greens 4 Cabbage 10 Yams 7 Mac n cheese 7 The catfish is up at the top of the charts y'all. I have had a lot of catfish but they did really well here. It didn't even need hot sauce and it was authentic catfish. The cabbage was exactly how I like it. Great blend and seasoned so well. Which made me more surprised that the greens had absolutely zero seasoning. They were cooked down well but left with no flavor. The food was overall solid. The service still needs some work but I like to extend grace to new businesses. It takes time to work through everything. But, pumpkin and the gentleman who was cleaning up were so nice. My daughter was making the biggest mess and I kept apologizing. He was like dear it is fine, I got you because I kept trying to help clean up. She's a baby and that is what she is supposed to do, he said. Leave it. I'll take care of it. I'll see y'all on my next trip back to town.

Ola S.

Yelp
Very tasty and fresh food, however, very overpriced. The delivery service with a third party is even more expensive and the delivery aesthetic isn't so attractive. Several times the ice cream was missing with the peach cobbler in the delivery. Great food but needs to lower down the price.

Dorian T.

Yelp
I really love the food and the ambience of the restaurant is a little overcrowded but a nice vibe when I go in to pick up my food, but the lack of good customer service and attention to detail as well as organization is disappointing to say the least. Every time, and I mean EVERY TIME I order wings as an add on, you all forget it. You all did it again with this most recent order and basically gave me not only the sides you wanted to rather than what I actually asked for, but also gave me the LAST two things I would've chosen and I was livid. Not to mention every time I come in to pick up the food, there is no designated person to address pick up orders. Almost everyone seems to be irritated when you ask for assistance like you're being a bother and try to avoid eye contact. Again the food is DELICIOUS and I do understand that the amount of customers compared to your staff due to your popularity can be a bit overwhelming, but this is an issue. The food is too expensive to receive the wrong order items and not be serviced properly.
google avatar

Sheila B.

Yelp
We went to this place on taco Tuesday. They had three dollar tacos and five dollar margaritas. I believe those prices are only good until 6:00 PM. I didn't eat any of the tacos, but I drank a peach margarita, which was very tasty. Then, we ordered dinner and we both ordered the catfish. I had, candied yams and collard greens for my side dishes. Everything was very tasty, but it's kind of ordinary. No special ambience, but everybody was polite and the service was good. There is a mandatory 20% gratuity and they do have valet parking for $16. I believe they accept major, credit cards or/and there's a QR code you can scan to pay your tab. I don't have any serious complaints, but like I said, it's just ordinary soul food. I'm not going to say it's pricey, because everything is pricey right now, post pandemic.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with tasteful aesthetics. Service was 10/10. We went at 5pm on a Thursday evening where there was only 2 other tables being serviced. Food was pleasant and comforting. I'll go back anytime for their fried green tomatoes and oxtails! Only setback were the drinks which could've been stronger and not drowning in ice.

Lois Chrissy H.

Yelp
The food was good but the service from their host was horrible she was very rude they only had two servers. It took a while for our food to come out only to be rushed by the hostess and we didn't get out full 90 minutes
google avatar

Demond D. E.

Yelp
The place is a whole vibe - absolutely wonderful decor. India was absolutely AMAZING.. she recommended 4 of the 5 items that I ate and she didn't miss. The dressing, the one item that I chose was not the business. It was sweet and didn't taste like soul food dressing. But that's my preference. For my first time visiting it's a great spot and I would recommend, except get the Mac and Cheese instead of dressing. The table next to me smashed theirs before anything else.

Yelp
This place is pretty good. The food to me was a 5/5 to my partner it was a 3/5 a bit too spicy and the lobster make was a bit watery. The service was subpar, the server was ok but for the establishment to only have 6 guest in it we should have gotten checked on more and shouldn't have had to ask 3 times for water but other than that the service is ok. The ambiance was cozy and nice.

Angela O.

Yelp
Not being familiar with this establishment, I did not know what to expect. However I can say I was highly disappointed with the entire experience. First off there was no seated waiting area for waiting guests with not one seat. We were not greeted when we walked in just looked at and the staff preceded to go on about their business as if we weren't there. We were only instructed to stand in a particular area after we asked. Although we had a reservation we were not seated until almost an hour after that. I decided on the catfish after observing another patrons food that appeared to look appetizing. What I received was burnt and overcooked. I would not recommend this place . The manager needs to work on customer service skills and the cook should be embarrassed for serving me what he did: By the end of the "meal" I was just exhausted and wanted to leave. What I should have did was request a full refund for the subpar service and the inedible food!! However, there was one bright spot our server Juan was great: Oh yeah I forgot to mention that one of the ladies that bus the tables poured water right on top of my ginger ale in my glass and when made aware of it seemed less than concerned stating that the bottle I had purchased was almost still full. That definitely was not the point, so unfortunately I could not with a good conscience recommend this establishment.

Yelp
I really like to support different new restaurants. I didn't care for any of the alcohol drink choices. Each drink literally had simple syrup added . The food was ok but nothing where I have to return. My cousin mashed potatoes seem as if it was instant potatoes. The customer service was slack. It wasn't crowded and they seem very unorganized.

Yelp
Couldn't even get past the door without being smashed in the face with a wild gagging scent. We were the first there so I was curious as where it came from. My wife and I honestly thought it was a sewage issue. So we immediately turned around. Maybe next time but not that time.

Yelp
I visited Jordyn's Soul Cafe recently and had a mixed experience. The Soul rolls and deviled eggs appetizers were tasty, but I was disappointed that our entrees took over an hour to arrive with minimal communication about the delay. The automatic 20% tip on the checks decreased the level of customer service, in my opinion. It would have been nice to receive a warm greeting upon entering, and the Chicken Alfredo was just okay. The excellent music couldn't compensate for the super slow service, and I never even received a water refill despite sitting at the bar.

Yelp
I ordered the $38 pot roast meal through Ubereats for delivery. This place is a little pricey for pot roast with two sides, but I didn't really care about the price as long as it was delicious. The pot roast and Mac and Cheese were pretty good, however the mash potatoes were definitely not mashed. It was one rock hard mash potato. That's disappointing when you think of paying $38 and one of the sides aren't good. I'll have to go try dine-in cause I definitely would have sent that mash potato back had I been at the restaurant.

Yelp
This food was SERIOUSLY good! We went on a Saturday for lunch, no resy just walked in. There was a 15min wait. It was a nice, trendy, & live environment. The hostess/waitress was really nice and accommodating. We ordered a variety of items for dine in and take out. I had the smothered chicken dinner which were fried wings and I had 3 sides, yams/white rice/greens. We ordered apps too; soul rolls & fried green tomatoes. Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor! The greens were SO good. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items. It is byob. Reservations required on Saturday and Sunday, per IG.

Yelp
Jordyn's Soul Cafe isn't fine dining. The Decor needs a upgrade, a little more sophistication. Here's their Report card based on the experience of my partner and I: Pork Chops-A-phat in size and flavor, nice gravy Sweet potatoes-A- Mashed potatoes-A- Cabbage-A- Greens-F-pungent flavor, very off Fried Green tomatoes-D- good coating, tomato was all mush and no bite Roast Beef Empanadas-A- Service-A- **There was a bit of Consumer Rape taking place at this establishment, $15.00 BYOB charge and the automatic gratuity for 2 people**

Yelp
I love visiting new and upcoming black owned businesses. This one I wasn't too fond of. I walked in to inform them our party was here for our reservation. So I'm standing in the middle of everyone eating no one greeted me there is no hostess stand. One of the waiters finally asked did I need a table. I told him I had reservations and he said ok. He didn't instruct me where to stand I assumed it was off to the side where it was a small high top table and I saw other patrons waiting. I go back out disappointed yet I'm wanted to eat the drive just coming from church on Easter Sunday. As I'm standing waiting I see a baby stroller coming out of the kitchen area.. the woman stopped and left the baby stroller on the way of the waitresses trying to cone out with food. Granted I understand it is Easter and as a business owner you have many hats to wear but to have a infant child in the kitchen area then leave it in the way of traffic there was some many violations and accidents that could've happened. It made me nervous and definitely wasn't a good look next time take the baby to an office area or to an empty table if u must jump in and help your staff out. The waitress was super busy we decided to order everything at once because she had so many tables so we hand our drinks and appetizers the appetizers were good a little heavy hand on the sugar with the deviled eggs and the candy yams were very candied lol as well but the food was fresh and hot when it came out. I was very pleased with the food overall and the drinks were the bomb as well. It's started out ruff and rocky but ended well I was full and ready to relax the rest of Sunday. Oh be prepared for 20% gratuity to be added to your bill. I think this is a bit much it's makes the workers not want to work or take their time because they know they get paid regardless and its a small and very cramped no room for high chairs and things for a family gathering. I hope this helps.

Yelp
We are always looking for some great soul food when we are out of town. This place is great!! Great service, delicious food and they play awesome music. We ordered smothered pork chops, fried catfish, lamb chops. The sides was to die for. We had candied yams, Mac and cheese, greens, cornbread and for dessert peach cobbler. It was a lot of food so we took our leftovers back to our hotel. Normally, we do not take our leftovers back. A must place to go eat when in Chicago.

Yelp
Me and my family went here for my mom's birthday. The host is extremely rude ! Our reservation was at 6pm we arrived on time and was standing for 20 minutes when it was two open tables ! So I asked why are we still waiting and this woman told me we have another party of five coming at 6:30 I was confused on what that had to do with my party of four that was currently standing waiting ! We had to ask a waiter can you please sit us because why are we waiting until 6:30 to see if the next reservation comes in when I'm here now ! So he agreed with us and sat us immediately. I definitely wanted to walk out and not give them my money but my mom really wanted to try the food. The food was amazing but not good enough for me to go back . I like going where my service is appreciated. I spent over 3 hundred dollars and left feeling like they didn't deserve my money all because of the host . Management really needs to retrain her on the proper way to deal with customers and how to properly seat people with reservations!

Yelp
I was delighted to have a black owned business in the area given the current limited options. I will try it again but some thing to know and they should consider. It's supposed to be soul food fine dining. The average plate is about $25-30 for chicken wings, catfish, etc. That's not an issue, but then I should expect fine dining service. For example, paper napkins!?!?! 3 staff people, but I'm not sure they knew how to operate the floor. Another example was the staff came to clear the table and brought the dirty bin with them and sat it on the table. It's not sanitary nor on par with fine dining. Last issue, I was dining alone. When I got my bill, an automatic 20% gratuity was added on. Reviewed the menu and did not see any mention as to the reason. I love my service industry workers and always over tip, but forced 20% for a solo diner is too much. Nice simple, relaxing ambiance with the potential to be a great place on Grand. Please take some time to train staff and focus on the little things that make people return.

Yelp
I give it 3 stars for the wait alone. Had reservations for 5:15 and seated promptly. It's a small restaurant and can hold about 25 ppl max and it was full. We immediately ordered our food ( no drinks or appetizers, just the entree) as we knew exactly what we wanted and didn't want to waste time as we had a concert to attend at 7pm. The food was delicious as we know it. Hot , tasteful quality food however we waited an hour( no exaggeration) until we got our food. The waitress was kind and informed us that the kitchen was backed up ( I'm assuming it had to do with all the ' to go' orders which made it difficult to attend to the diners present. Like I said I would have given a 5 but the hour long wait made it disappointing and if I didn't have a 7pm concert to attend ( I would of loved to eat my food without rushing) i would of stayed for dessert.

Yelp
Dinner tonight with our youngest kids. We had an awesome evening. The food is ! Wish we would have known it was BYOB cause the Soleil (kool aid) would have been even better with a little vodka, but the sweet drink was ! I can't wait to go back for another meal.

Yelp
The food was delicious on a scale 1 to 100 I give them a why Because once me & my sister walked in the restaurant the server Amaya really greeted us with so much respect & she was just a excellent server she explained the menu to us for the food & the drinks so I really recommend that owners keep Amaya yes I tipped her because she really deserved it & she introduced us the amazing respectful owner as well & shout out to the cook when I tell you I'm so picky about certain restaurants but this one is top tier also the Bartender Pedro was great the drinks was fye as well & yes me & my sister will be returning on a regular basis there

Yelp
1. Party of 2. Ordered drinks at the bar did not get drinks for 40 minutes. Had to ask the bar tender if she forgot about the drinks and was told "no, I just had other stuff to do" 2. Took 60 minutes for our order to be taken, no one took our order until we asked if someone would be taking our order. 3. Seated then had to move tables twice due to the table being slanted. 1st table was so slanted we had to hold on to our glasses of water so they wouldn't slide off the table. 2nd table wasn't balanced either but acceptable. Obviously the floor was unlevel due to poor workmanship 4. Seats were dirty with food debris. 5. Food came relatively quick after we ordered but our order was incomplete 6. Food tasted ok. Tasted more salt than flavor

Yelp
Everything was excellent! The food was awesome. There were 5 of us and we all ordered different meals just so we can taste almost everything. There's no meat in the dressing. But I swear it tasted like my mama's! The MAC-N-Cheese was fye! The Oxtails, smothered chicken, the grilled shrimp, greens Catfish and smothered turkey wings was so good! The portion size is good also. The food came out fast. The chef even came to the tables to engage the customers. The servers were really nice! Just be sure to make a reservation prior to going. This is also a BYOB establishment and they have brunch on the weekends. If I had to complain about anything. I would say parking, we had to walk about 3 blocks in the cold, but after eating that good ole soul food, we probably needed to walk. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
All I can say is wow, this place need to really step there game up. Our server was nice but slow. The apps came out right away. We order the soul rolls, fried green tomatoes and the okra. everything was good except the yams (too much sugar) On to the meals, hubby had the catfish (plate came out 40 mins before every one else in our group) so we sat and watch him eat his food wrong sides but he was happy he really like the cabbage. The birthday girl had chicken alfredo she liked it a lot. I had the smothered turkey wing very dry. The gravy was good I good not eat it. I did eat all of my asparagus. My girl got the ox tails and grits, she had to pull all of the fat off of the ox tails (the fat filled a saucer up. No on to the lamb chops (if that what you want to call them) they were so tuff and small, Hubby said the look like bat wings. For the money we paid $300 plus the should of been a better experience. There is some many good places to eat. You are start losing business if you don't step the game up. I went home and order a pizza. One more thing they add 20% gratuity on your check and then have the nerve to say you can put extra for the tip if you want NOT!!!!

Yelp
The food was amazing, and the ambiance of place Was amazing and the music was nice and cool. Our waiter was nice, sweet and so helpful. The service was amazing. It is a little pricey so I would suggest going on a saturday or sunday to get their brunch special with cheaper prices.
