Find the 11 Best Tacos in Raleigh, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"It says it right on the website — Mexican flavors meet Southern comfort. There is plenty to choose from, but look to the “Tacolandia” section if it’s tacos you’re after. There’s Cali-style battered fish tacos, Texan brisket tacos, shrimp BLT tacos, pork belly chicharron tacos, barbecue mole tacos — and the list goes on. There are traditional tacos and Mexican fare, but it’s the mashups of Southern and Mexican cuisine that stand out." - Matt Lardie

Had out of state friends in town for the day & we met in the middle and found Jose & Sons. The plantain sandwich was really delicious. Place had good vibe. Their chips were actually outstanding - not like they came from a bag. Our friends enjoyed it so much they told the staff that if they lived in town they would eat here weekly.

Everything was delicious and great customer service. Alejandro was very attentive to making sure we were checked on and had everything.

Great food. Beautiful plants inside. Price compares as average. Service during rush hour is a bit slow.

Went for my best friends birthday dinner. This restaurant has wonderful food and drinks, and the staff was excellent. My waiter was so nice! Great atmosphere and music. Food was freshly made and hot. Served tortilla chips and salsa as a starter. Food portions were big as well.

We stopped in for lunch in the noon hour on a Saturday, having long loved the prior Downtown location. The upfit is fantastic, far from what you'd expect from the shopping center exterior. We sat at the bar and had ok service, but the server was away for long periods leaving us to fend for ourselves for napkins, etc. I, personally, was disappointed to find very little for vegetarian options on the menu save for fried Brussels tacos, and would have preferred a lunch or brunch menu to order from as dinner was much more than we needed at this early hour. The plus side? Heading home with lots of leftovers. Quality was great for the food and beverage selections, just wish the menu was a more appropriate for the time of day and dietary restrictions.

After looking for a great place to take my daughter for a quick lunch, I came across Jose and Sons. We arrived soon as they opened and was greeted by the host and the server. She gave us a lot of recommendations for drinks based on our preference. Since they are well known for their drinks. I went with the princess mango drink. It was really yummy and filled with flavor. I was definitely tipsy and ready to eat after a few sips. For my entrée I went with the chef picnic a variety of good authentic food. I felt like I was at a BBQ tasting the best things from the chef. Lol, my husband and daughter also enjoyed their meal, too. I loved how decor went with the food and drinks a great balance. They have plenty of parking right in front, so no stress there. I can't wait to go back and try something new.

The tacos were awesome. I tried the fried fish, Texas steak, and brisket. They were all good.

Yelp
We came here for a late dinner. My friend had been here before but it was my first time. Plenty of parking right out front. Greeted at the door and got in the requested area to sit. A big, bright bar is off to the right as you walk in. The decor is very nice, Mexican but better than most places. The chips and salsa came quickly. I like the salsa, different than most places, not too spicy. We ordered a combo that had an enchilada, burrito, quesadilla, rice and refried beans. There is a choice of ground beef, chicken or cheese. There is burrito had an unusual sauce, but I liked it. The quesadilla had a decent amount of cheese and chicken. A big serving of rice and beans and the chips went well with it all. Service was prompt and a manager came to check on us as well as our great waitress. We will return.

Yelp
A cut above the rest. The Cadillac margarita was an excellent choice to pair with my quesadilla. The trio of queso, guacamole, and pimento cheese made for a great start to the evening spent celebrating with coworkers. It has become one of my new favorite Mexican restaurants in the Triangle area.

Yelp
Absolutely love Jose and Sons! My family has been going here since way back when they went by El Rodeo. They've done an excellent job at both keeping the classics around and also refreshing the menu and the space. This is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Raleigh. The staff is wonderful, the food is excellent, the nostalgia is set, and the drinks are strong ;) If you have a dinner date with a few people, make sure you get the margarita tower...you won't regret it!

Yelp
Watch out, I found a razor blade inside my Burrito food eating with a friend, and they quickly took my plate from the table and covered it up like nothing has happened.
google avatar

Yelp
My daughter and I used to come here for dad-daughter date nights while she was growing up, back when this place was called El Rodeo. A manager of mine once warned me to make more time for my kids, as I was working constantly, and this became our special place for years. We shared countless meals, conversations, and memories here before she grew up and moved away for college and grad school. Life moved on, and I lost track of the place for a while. When I rediscovered Jose and Sons in 2024, I was happy to see that it had evolved while still keeping the same welcoming spirit. The ambiance is just as thoughtful, and the Tex-Mex flavors remain excellent--enchiladas and black beans are still my go-to. Most recently, we gathered here after my daughter's funeral. It was one of the hardest days of my life, but there was something deeply comforting about returning to the restaurant that had been such an important part of our time together. Sitting in the same type of space where we had shared so many meals, I felt her presence. I later learned from an employee, Daniel, that after reading my initial review and seeing my request to hold the meal here, he personally took it upon himself to make sure it happened. He even brought in his father to ensure that our group of 70+ people could be accommodated smoothly on a busy Sunday. That level of personal care and kindness is rare and deeply appreciated. The service, as always, was warm and attentive. The team here may not know it, but this restaurant holds so many cherished memories for me. I will continue coming back, not just for the great food, but because of the special place it holds in my heart. Thank you, Jose and Sons, and thank you, Daniel, for making this moment possible.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Jose and Sons! We visited on a Friday night and it was busy, but we were seated quickly. The staff were so nice and checked on us often. We started with some drinks which were very good! I ordered the shrimp blt tacos. They were ok, the bacon was a bit hard which threw the tacos off a bit. But the rice and beans it came with were good. My husband got the fajitas and he liked them! The portion sizes were also great for the price.

Yelp
A quiet night sitting at the bar. Tacos and cold beer, chips and salsa. A wonderful place good food and service Happy to have found it.
google avatar

Lexi G.

Yelp
We got a burrito with avocado on top and a virgin strawberry daiquiri to drink. It was sooooo good! Portion size was great. After munching on chips and splitting an appetizer, we just shared the burrito.

Yelp
Still five stars for the food, service and overall wonderfulness that's José and Sons. Came here to to add that you'll probably never get a better plate of chicken enchilada suizas than what they have here. You'll wish there were four or five to an order. Heavenly.
google avatar

Yelp
We had another great meal tonight! Daniel was our server and he recommend an off the menu item: the Peach Addictive Margarita Shaker. The drink was sweet, refreshing, and super smooth... so I can see why they call it addictive! I had Tiras De Pollo, one of my go-tos, and it was delicious as always. The chipotle cream sauce that comes on this dish is full of flavor.
google avatar

Yelp
Jose and Sons is a beautiful restaurant that's lively and fun with dining in a multi-room dining room or at the bar. The service was excellent and the drinks were sensational. Sadly, the food was mediocre, at best. It's a shame...we loved the restaurant. But based on the quality of the food, it's u likely we'll be back.
google avatar

Denis M.

Yelp
Everything about this place speaks " Mexico". Welcoming ambiance, great attention from the staff, and the table-side guacamole was excellent. I encourage you to give that a try! My wife and I arrived relatively early for dinner and things were heating up before we finished, but I seriously doubt that it would diminish your experience. Definitely will get back to Jose and Sons to sample more on the menu.

Jack S.

Yelp
This place is not a place you want to order takeout from. Every time I order takeout I have to check my order, and every time it is messed up. Every. Single. Time. It is hard to check because they quadruple knot the bag which means you have time tear the bag apart to look at your order. If they have to correct the order they will not give you a new bag. The food itself is good but when they get it wrong it's kinda hard to enjoy the rest because it's cold from waiting for the other order to be corrected. I ordered the Cali Burrito with Chicken which had no chicken. You can't tell until you bite into of meat is in it but no meat this time. The other order called for no beans and they had beans lots and lots of beans even the rocket said NO BEANS. Never get takeout from this place.

Yelp
Big fan of Cortez and was excited to try their sister restaurant. No wait for our party of 4 on a Saturday night (though it was a holiday weekend). La vampira margarita was too sweet, but the food was really good. I tried: + Queso dip + Fresh guacamole + Battered fish tacos + Flautas de pollo The guacamole was the standout, though everything was great. Huge portions, too!

Yelp
Great fun spot for a group of friends looking for good margaritas and the classics done well! Everything was solid and the staff were great and helpful. Good local spot.

Yelp
Perfection, highly recommend the shrimp quesadilla, or anything else with shrimp. The guacamole is worth the $10. The service was very good, really quick. Enjoyed the food and experience. I love the decor, it was to die for. I'll be back!

Yelp
I enjoyed Jose and Sons. They offer a fun atmosphere that features talented bartenders at the cantina. I treated my mom and daughter to drinks & dinner to celebrate her birthday this evening. This place was jam packed. We really enjoyed the music, the decor and plentiful menu. My mom enjoyed a Tamarica Margarita from the Skinny Margarita menu which is less sugar. It featured los vecinos mezcal, tamarind, agave nectar & fresh lime juice, we also had the pimento queso dip with their delicious tortilla chips. If you don't know, now you know, they have the best chips. There is nothing like them. I decided on the Al pastor tacos, my daughter enjoyed the Gouda Queso Mac n cheese and my mom had shrimp fajitas. The dishes were a bit underwhelming. The Mac & cheese was the hit. The fajitas were lacking in flavor and the Al pastor tacos were soggy. Bad tortillas. My Horchata was not good either. They really lost points for me when I was not offered dessert, and the table was never cleared. They need more waitstaff. I asked if they do anything special for birthdays. I was offered a birthday shot of tequila for my 68 yr old mother with a serenade from the wait staff. Unfortunately, the waitress returned and I was told that the wait staff was too busy to sing for the birthday girl. Very disappointing. Luckily, I planned for cake at home. I would return most definitely for cocktails, chips and vibes at the cantina but I will pass on dinner here again.

Yelp
I had high hopes for Jose and Sons, but the food was a real disappointment. Service was good--our server was friendly and attentive--and the atmosphere was okay, though nothing standout. I ordered an enchilada and a burrito, expecting the rojo or salsa verde on the enchilada as the menu described. Instead, it came covered in mole sauce, which I never expected or would have chosen. The rojo sauce on the burrito tasted like plain tomato sauce with no depth or seasoning. The rice was dry and flavorless, and the beans were a very odd red-orange color with an unusual taste that didn't sit right. I ended up leaving more than half the food on my plate. Definitely not the experience I was hoping for, and I won't be back.

Yelp
Overall a good meal, and friendly order pickup service. The fish tacos' flavor profile was fantastic. I would have preferred the fish be more crispy but other than that, it was a great bite. Next time I'll dine in.

Yelp
Perfect. I'll be back. Amazing food. Highly recommend any quesadilla. The guacamole was perfect. The cheese dips were just amazing. The scenery was great. You really get the full Mexican experience. It looks like it was pulled straight out from the wild west. The service was quick and speedy. They deserve a big tip.

Yelp
Great mexican restaurant with cool and eclectic decor. There was no wait; our server was very friendly and attentive. We tried the dip sampler- delicious! Also our meals were great. The brisket barbacoa was a great twist of southern and mexican flavors. The pork belly tacos were awesome! Huge portions, left with meals for tomorrow :) Everything was excellent!

Yelp
Not good, I eat Mexican a lot and this was one of the worst Mexican food meals I've had in a long time. Margaritas tasted like orange juice - terrible! Fajitas were bland with no flavor as was the rest of the side items. I ate at the bar and it took the bartender more than five minutes to come over to me and I was the only one there! Couldn't speak English well either which made it difficult. Overall bad experience.

Rizz L.

Yelp
The food was great with decent portions at an ok price, our server Alejandro was extremely nice. The inside of the Jose and sons was very nicely decorated with good music playing the whole time.

Jay S.

Yelp
This place gave me moldy grapes, refused to give me a different side, and then ignored our table. DO NOT COME. MY SISTER GOT FOOD POISONING FROM THE QUESO. VERY BAD FOOD. Ambiance was okay. 5/10. the vibes were better than the food.
google avatar

Yelp
Bass heavy music at times more associated with hyper trendy locations interfering with the general atmosphere. The food and staff were great though and they were able to make ,e a good Mexican mojito at the bar which is always a good sign. They also have a few signature and unique drinks that make this location a bit more interesting. I would say the dishes are a bit Americanized, meaning that the level of spiciness is reduced but the diversity of the dish is increased over a typical restaurant in Mexico. The crowd was a mix but seem primarily groups or families during my visit and there was still plenty of parking with a low wait time for both food and to be seated.

Yelp
This place is a solid 3 or maybe a 3.5. The atmosphere is great here - a good place to come after work with friends, or with family. The service was pleasant and attentive. Their chips and salsa were very good, and their cocktails were made well - a perfect balance between alcohol and fruit/sweetness. The main food was good - not great. I ordered the shrimp a la diabla (which is something I have probably ordered over 100 times across the country) and it was not as spicey as that dish normally is, and the beans were also a bit lack-luster. I would come here again if my friends wanted to, but this wouldn't be my first choice.

Yelp
Came here for a ladies night and as soon as you enter you notice the amazing decor and ambience at the front. There are some amazing French style windows and plants, the entrance was gorgeous. As for drinks/food, we ordered the following: pica pina - the yummiest pineapple margarita I've ever had. So good! pica mango - very similar tasting to pica pina, but if you love mango then go for this drink. It is on the sweeter side but still so good Dolly Parton: this came in a shaker. It had the perfect level of Tarte to alcohol ratio. Very good as well! Apps: dip sampler (shared): the cheese dip was my favorite. But they were all good and tasty Brussels sprouts (shared): this was too tarty for my liking. It had an over powering taste of vinegar. We couldn't have more than 1-2 bites each. Entree: -Jibarito Plantainwich (with chicken) - really good, the chicken was well cooked and seasoned. The plantain part was a little dry but definitely a different combo. It comes with a side of beans and rice - Enchilada suiza - this was also really good, it had a little kick to it but still tasty - J&S bowl: also good, the broccoli seemed to be seasoned too much with salt. Overall taste was good! Overall the drinks were SO GOOD. Food was also good but some dishes had extra salt or tarty flavor which was overpowering, Eg Brussel sprouts Service could have been better. We had to remind our server multiple times about water and a few other things we requested. My dish came last as the kitchen had messed up.

Yelp
Best Mexican in Raleigh! I have been to many spots in the triangle and this is as good or better than any of them! Have not found a single item that was not spectacular. From the kids meals to the adults foods they are all made with quality ingredients and bring out flavors to get excited about. Service is just as good as the food. Highly recommend.

Alex R.

Yelp
Delicious meal! Alejandro was such a fantastic waiter, best one I have had in years. Great atmosphere with fun music and delicious margaritas.

Yelp
I had an AMAZING experience at Jose and Sons. The food and drinks were great! Excellent service with incredibly patient staff. I didn't get my waitresses name but she was absolutely incredible. Thank you for making my sisters 30th birthday memorable. Dios te bendiga siempre

Yelp
The best Mexican food I've had in North Carolina. Our waiter Alejandro was so super efficient and polite. The flan was out of this world delicious. They'll also customize a plate for you. We will definitely return.

Darius P.

Yelp
F****** LOVED IT! Our servers name was Alejandro & he was the SWEETEST, most softest spoken man I have ever met! For him alone I would come back but the food, the food was great. I had the ACP Supremo. It wasn't too creamy, spicy or tangy.

Yelp
We eat at Jose and Sons a good bit. Last 2 times ordered take out for 5 of us. Usually 2 large queso and 2 Guac apps with our meals. Both times we were given 1 small bag of chips. First time didn't realize it until we were already home and had to run back out to Teeter and get Tostitos, second time the hostess refused and said we had to pay $2 per bag if we wanted more. Also stated you only get 1 small bag of chips per entire order, not 1 small bag per dip. We think this is crazy, hopefully the manager sees this and changes it but absolutely ridiculous. Also this is probably the first negative review I've ever wrote but the small bag of chips for 4 dips is crazy

Yelp
Located in the vibrant city of Raleigh, NC, Jose and Sons offers an electrifying atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. As I stepped into the restaurant, I was immediately drawn in by the lively ambiance, accompanied by the upbeat sounds of music filling the air. The infectious energy of the place was palpable, with the song "Shots" adding to the festive vibe, sparking thoughts of joining in on the fun. The restaurant itself exuded charm with its Latin-inspired decor, creating a cozy and inviting setting for diners. Promptly seated by our attentive waitress, we were met with friendly smiles and a genuine eagerness to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Her recommendations for the taco plates only heightened our anticipation, especially after learning they were her personal favorites. Opting to sample a variety, we selected the beef, BBQ chicken, and pork tacos, with a special request to hold the cheese, which was accommodated with ease. As we indulged in chips, salsa, and queso, accompanied by refreshing sips of sangria, we eagerly awaited our main course, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and infectious energy around us. When the tacos arrived, they did not disappoint. While the beef tacos left something to be desired with their dryness and lack of flavor, the pork tacos offered a satisfying bite of savory goodness. However, it was the BBQ chicken tacos that stole the show, delivering a burst of flavor that had us craving more with each mouthful. Throughout the meal, our waitress checked in on us periodically, ensuring our needs were met and adding to the overall warmth of the experience. As the evening came to a close, we left Jose and Sons feeling satisfied and content, grateful for a night filled with good food, great company, and memorable moments. in the vibrant city of Raleigh, NC, Jose and Sons offers an electrifying atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Yelp
Jose and Sons is my new favorite Mexican Restaurant in Raleigh NC. Let's start with portion size, is massive and rightfully so. When you express flavors of this magnitude you'll understand. So far I've had the ACP and it's the best I've had. I wanna go back right now.

Yelp
My family is Latin, my tastebuds require SPICE & FLAVOR! You absolutely cannot miss with Jose & Sons. We have been ordering delivery from here for years and it has never disappointed. Never too greasy, the meat is QUALITY, and I am insanely picky when it comes to fatty cuts. You can taste the grill, they char things beautifully and don't overdo it on the sauce. I have never gotten a meal too soggy (we DoorDash and Uber eats this spot a lot) to enjoy and the rice is the best in Raleigh. Their salsa is refreshing, I would drink it with a straw. The Fajitas are delicious and come with extra veggies like zucchini, it makes the entire meal more filling and nutritious. My husband has had everything from the enchiladas to the fresh whole fish and this place has always exceeded any expectations. The ambiance is romantic and gently lit with beautiful Edison bulb lighting and colorful chairs with great upbeat music, every time we eat here we leave in a better mood, with a boatload of leftovers and with a spring in our step, it's filling without weighing you down. Billy was our server at our last sit down and he was delightful, very thoughtful and with fast smiling service, thank you Billy for making our night exceptional! Also strongly recommend the piña colada's, the mango one is phenomenal and they will do virgin drinks upon request. This place in our family's opinion is the most slept on, undiscovered gem in all of Raleigh, Durham and Cary. Order or stop in to J&S this week and prepare to become a loyal patron! (Also they have absolutely amazing cocktails, and I would HIGHLY recommend this for a night out with friends or a great spot to bring family when they visit, they will be impressed - even if they are Latin and from TX xD)

Yelp
My servers name was Daniel. He was one of the best servers I've had personally. He was very friendly and inviting. Salsa was under seasoned and very watery. Brisket Mac and cheese was recommended and very good

Yelp
Food is just ok. Prices are high. There is a big focus on bar drinks. Not near as good as the previous Mexican Restaurant that was there.

Yelp
We had lunch around 12 on a Saturday. There was no wait. I was a little disappointed in the temperature of the food, especially the quesos and rice but things had good flavor. I was really excited about the Mac and Queso but did not like it at all. It had too much of either a lime or cilantro flavor. The quesadilla was excellent.

Yelp
On Thursday April 13th 2023 my sister, my wife, and I Stopped in to have Dinner at Jose and Sons. The Ambiance and the decor is the best thing about this restaurant. (I think this restaurant had a different name at one point) Ok let's get it into the review. The Chips were flavorless. No salt. The Salsa was thick and just not good. You can get better Chips and Salsa at the grocery store. Next I ordered the street corn and a sparkling water. My wife ordered a Strawberry Mojito and my sister ordered a Margarita. The Street corn came out warm but, had to much extra stuff on to enjoy it. The corn had way too much creamy mayo sauce, and our waitress who I think was new didn't bring any napkins to the table. Two pieces of street corn came with this order, I took a couple bites of one but, it was just too messy. No one at the table wanted to try the other one. The Sparkling water... the waitress didn't know which brand of sparkling water they carried so another person (I think she was a waitress too) brought a bottle to the table. It was Mineragua Sparkling Water which was good since this is what I drink at home. The Strawberry Mojito my wife ordered was Way Too Sweet, she took a sip and almost spit it out. We got this taken off the bill. The Margarita my sister ordered had too much Alcohol in it for her to enjoy. She didn't send it back, she just let it sit on the table and didn't drink anymore of it. The Food I Ordered Chicken Fajitas which came out without the sizzling sound... I thought all fajitas sizzled when being delivered to the table. My meal was ok, I just ate the chicken. If I had to score this on a scale of 1 - 10 I would give it a 4. My wife ordered grilled shrimp tacos. She said it was okay... When my wife says something is okay that means she doesn't like it. She managed to eat one of the two she ordered. My sister ordered the AP chicken (I think this was the name) she ate a couple of bites of her dinner. I think she felt bad because she picked this restaurant for us to eat at (She's not allowed to pick for the rest of the year)! Overall we didn't like Jose and Sons. The food doesn't match the prices. Overpriced and not good. I think eating here is a waste of time and money. There's better options in Raleigh and Durham. You could make better Mexican food at home. I wouldn't recommend Jose and Sons.

Yelp
Such a cute place and I loved their trailing plants! We got the tamarind skinny margarita and a mango-colada and I was very happy with both. Honestly, one of the best drinks I've had in awhile. You can hardly taste the alcohol but it's definitely there. We went on Sunday morning around 11 so business was slow and our server was attentive.

Yelp
Jose and Sons needs to give kudos to their menu design and/or marketing team. The slick menu promising specialties such as goat birria tacos and Instagram worthy cocktails drew us to the otherwise unassuming strip mall restaurant in Raleigh. When we arrived, we found a cutely decorated, lively space filled with families enjoying comedically large, neon margaritas and basic appearing plates of Mexican food. Additionally, "Shots" blared over the speakers as a team of waiters served tequila to a table with significant fanfare. That tipped us off to the fact that the restaurant skewed more "neighborhood Tex Mex" than the mix of authentic and fusion we had anticipated, but we persisted nonetheless. We started off with the complimentary warm chips and salsa, which made for pleasant, absentminded munching. The chips and salsa both tasted reasonably fresh, so points for that. My wife and brother in law ordered Pica Pina margaritas, which promised fresh citrus, charred pineapple, and chipotle spice based on the menu descriptions. What they received instead comprised syrupy margaritas that tasted more like a premade mix than the ingredients described. In contrast, our appetizer of elote, while immensely messy, satisfied. We received two cobs of well seasoned corn which offered a good interplay between the tang of the spread, the saltiness of the cheese, and the sweetness of the kernels. My brother in law and I were dismayed to learn that, despite the menu, the restaurant does not serve goat birria tacos. So, I ordered the green quesapollo tacos and he ordered the quesabirria with chicken. To our disappointment, we essentially received the same dish. My dish had no tomatillo flavor and instead tasted predominantly of salt and chicken stock. Ditto for his, which lacked any of the red chili that looked so appealing on the menu pictures and description. When we brought this up with the waitstaff, they did not really address our concern and pretty much stated that those dishes were prepared correctly. My wife ordered much more smartly and went with the pork belly tacos. These arrived as advertised with a generous helping of tender-crisp pork belly and a decent amount of guacamole and pico for freshness. All the portions we received were quite generous, and our bill total was reasonable given the quantities. Maybe it was our fault for trusting the menu so much, but we felt a little duped given that 50% of what we ordered seemed rather different from the descriptions and pictures provided. Jose and Sons may work to fix a neighborhood, Tex Mex craving of cheesy, salty, and minimally spicy fare. For more specialty items or good drinks, I would go elsewhere.

Yelp
We tried Jose & Sons on a quiet Sunday for dinner and we liked it. Our server was new and he sort of struggled with some of our questions but he was polite and always raced off to get clarification when he wasn't sure. We ordered the guac and the queso, both were super. Then I had the Shrimp BLT tacos which were also super and my teenage daughter really enjoyed the BBQ Mole Chicken tacos. My husband ordered the Carnitas Enchiladas but was served the chicken instead. He said it was OK - a little dry. When we reported the mistake to our waiter he apologized, took ownership of the mistake and comped the enchilada. For drinks I just had a glass of house wine- nothing to write home about - but who expects a fancy glass of wine at a Mexican place. My husband had the La Suprema margarita and loved it. With the barrage of Mexican restaurants in the area serving up the same ole same ole we thought Jose & Sons was a nice alternative. I am notorious for never going back to places I find lacking in some form or are over priced for what you get. The whole family decided that J&S stays on the list to be visited again.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for the first time tonight, and it was amazing. The drinks were delicious, the guac out of this world (thick and chunky), and the fajitas awesome. The ambience is super inviting, along with the background music. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Four of us went out to dinner here and enjoyed ourselves very much. This place is larger than in looks from outside and is a pretty cool space with a private room upstairs with live vines hanging down and nicely decorated for the holidays. I love all the live plants everywhere. There are tons of booths and other seating along with a bar area but although it's open, it's not too loud. They don't take reservations unless it's 8 or more but we didn't have to wait to be seated. The chips and salsa are complimentary and your fairly typical chips and salsa but the salsa had a little heat which I always like. The margaritas are awesome and I'm rarely pleased with casual Mexican dining margs. I got the Rock which is on their skinny menu and you could taste the lime instead of orange juice which a lot of places rely on. They used Casamigos tequila which is clean and clear. Their cucumber margarita is pretty good too. We ordered the trio of dips that included guacamole, queso and pimento queso dip. I did not end up liking the pimento queso dip, in fact, I don't think anyone touched it after trying it, but the queso and guacamole was delicious. I ended up ordering anything queso since the trio sizes were small. Definitely worth it. That stuff is on fire. On first glance it doesn't look like there are a lot of vegetarian items but if you select just the vegetables you'll get a pretty good array of items. I got the vegetable California burrito without meat and it was really good. Lots of different veggies like broccoli and peppers, onions etc with beans. It came with French fries which I thought was odd but the fries were really good so no complaints here. Others at the table ordered tacos and enchiladas which they enjoyed. The pork belly seemed to be a hit. Nobody has leftovers except for one person. The service was very good and our waiter looked after us very well. No unusually long absences that seem to be typical these days. No room for dessert but they did have about five or six options so definitely a nice selection. Just a note about the bathrooms though: they need to be serviced more than once a day. It definitely reflects on the impression of cleanliness and I was pretty grossed out by it. Take the time to make it right. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return when I'm up that way again.
