Extremely fast and organized process for anyone traveling international. Immigration was a breeze. If you have a longer layover, you can visit Nameless Cafe to get Ecuadorian and Galapagos coffee. We used to get it from them in Santa Cruz. Our layover was short, so we chose to have it delivered this time. There are tons of koi fish for children to feed for only 10 cents, model planes to scale to see and read about, as well as a classic car, and plenty of places to eat. They had a Christmas scene set up that was beautiful and you can go inside to take a picture

Great staff. The young charismatic lady’s at the information desk help me finding my dads glasses that he misplaced in airport control. My dad left and took his plane but I was able to recover the lost item with the help of the information desk ladies and the security staff. Mr Quimi, made sure the lenses belonged to my dad as I showed proof of him wearing them and signed a responsibility waiver. He was very kind and helpful, making the process smooth and saving me a trip to my province and back just for the glasses. Plus the nativity scene and the whole atmosphere of the airport on Christmas is uplifting.

This airport stands out for its beauty and remains one of the best in the Americas. However, in recent years there has been a noticeable decline in key areas such as restroom cleanliness and the quality of service provided by airport staff and authorities. These shortcomings negatively impact its image and the overall traveler experience. Hopefully, actions will be taken to restore the high standards it once had. I recommend implementing ongoing training programs for all staff, including public servers working in these facilities.

A lovely modern airport with a bus outside to the left into the city the T2 if you go to the right there are mini buses to Cuenca . We stayed in walking distance to the Airport . At hotel mundial city

Very modern and clean airport. Impressive. However, if you have spent some time in Ecuador, you will be shocked by the almost US pricing at the airport: the $1.25 for a single banana ( while buying 10 for $1 outside) is shocking. Cappuccino is $5.50. $4.50 for a small bottle of water.

Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil is a pleasant surprise. Despite its compact size, the airport is modern, clean, and efficiently laid out. Navigating through the terminal was a breeze, thanks to the clear signage and well-organized layout. The staff I encountered were professional and helpful. I was particularly impressed by the airport's recent awards as the best in South America and the Caribbean for its size. The recognition is well-deserved. While I didn't have the opportunity to explore all the amenities, the overall atmosphere was calm and comfortable. If you're traveling through Guayaquil, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport.

This airport is the worst airport of all. After flying from the United States to Colombia, then to Guayaquil on my way to Peru, they confiscated my portable battery, supposedly because it wasn't safe, even though my travel companions each had one of the same capacity. But the immigration officer wanted to keep my battery. Then he explained that if I wanted a receipt, someone could pick it up, and since I didn't have anyone who could pick it up, I left it with them. Later, I spoke with someone so I could go and retrieve it, and when I went back to immigration to get authorization, they told me it was no longer possible. This makes me think they wanted to keep my battery no matter what. The inhumane and unsympathetic treatment is unbelievable. I don't think I'll ever come to Guayaquil again.

The domestic area is conveniently located on the left side of the main entrance, making navigation straightforward from the moment you arrive. Departures are handled on the first floor, where the layout is intuitive, and signage is clear. Clean, spacious and smooth check-in process. Staff are helpful and efficient, ensuring minimal delays even during peak hours. For those traveling to the Galápagos Islands, there are specific procedures to follow. Before proceeding to the airline check-in counter, travelers must obtain their Transit Control Card (TCT), which costs $20 as of November 2024. The counter to get the TCT card is located on the left of airlines check-in counters. Additionally, you’ll need to have your luggage scanned as part of the Galápagos-specific regulations. While these extra steps might seem cumbersome, the airport staff manage them efficiently, ensuring the process is relatively quick and hassle free. Have a safe flight!
