Josephine's Italian Kitchen

The service was excellent and the food came really fast and was delicious. The price was exactly what i expected. I would comeback.

The sad thing about Josephine’s is that it has a lot of potential– it just doesn’t actualize it. My fiancé and I went for dinner this evening and ordered garlic bread, truffle fries, mushroom risotto with chicken, and spaghetti pomodoro with meatballs. The bread, fries, and risotto all suffered from too much garlic and salt– otherwise they would have been good. The fries were floppy (although somewhat redeemed by a delicious aoli), and the mushroom in the risotto was extremely bitter. The pomodoro sauce was smoky, but lacked the robustness of a proper tomato sauce. We were all around disappointed. The service was also terribly slow. It took us 20 minutes to get the check after finishing our meals even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Note that I had to go to the bar to ask for the check. Dinner service was also slow, and out waiter was inattentive to the point that we didn’t even have our water glasses refilled. Is this review harsh? Yes. My hope is that someone from Josephine’s will read it and make things better. The place has potential, and with a little less salt and garlic, and a lot more service, it can become a place worth returning to. It’s just not that yet.

Just not a good experience. I wanted to like it too. They were out of the wine I wanted... sauv blanc and pinot grigio... and did not offer any suggestions. I ordered the pikes pie, since I live on the pike.. It had broccoli rabe, chicken and pesto. It was just ok, I has to add salt, pepper, and get a side of tomato sauce to help. I met a new friend and stayed a bit to chat after I had paid, but wasn't asked if I was ok or wanted anything else... or even a water refill. When you are one of 5 people at a bar, youd think service would be more attentive.

Great addition to Columbia Pike! Wonderful dinner experience during their soft opening. Definitely recommend the homemade pasta and lamb shank for the meal and gelato for dessert. Will be back soon!

I was really excited that a Italian restaurant opened up right next to my house. First I want to talk about the terrible customer service I received when placing my takeout order. My name is Teran I guess it was too complicated for the guy so he said " you know what I'm just gonna put down Erin after I spelled it out forbhim. I was like umm okay. Then when my boyfriend got there he spoke with the manager and she seemed not really to care and said well maybe the food will change her mind. Now on to the food. It was okayish. The chicken was burnt and dry but the sauce was good so thats why I'm giving it a 2 star. I've actually never received such terrible customer service from an Italian restaurant. Also I was surprised that garlic bread doesn't come with the pasta. I've never been to a Italian restaurant that doesn't serve garlic bread with the meal.

Frustrating experience at this newly opened restaurant. Decor is smart and stylish, but wait staff unorganized and distant; no manager or host evident; extremely long 75 minute wait times for an obviously too small kitchen relative to tables; food tasty but plated poorly with hot foods cold. These opening misfires bode poorly for the future if not immediately addressed. Free parking a welcome gift but the $150 tab for our party of 3, not so much.

So saw this on a few sites and decided to try it out. So worth it. Good food and drink selections! I got one of the pizzas and beer, Will for sure be back. Loved the quiet atmosphere and friendly service.

I had high hopes, but nothing was great. A short pour on my wine -- maybe 4 oz, not the freshest mussels in kind of a muddy broth, and oddly sweet sauce for the pizza.
