"You can find bags of Joshua Tree Coffee’s beans in markets all over Southern California these days, but a visit to the original location for early morning caffeine is an essential desert experience. Not only is the locally roasted coffee excellent, but its slightly hidden location (down the alley in between two other businesses) is the perfect place to sit, relax, and shake off last night’s Pappy and Harriet’s hangover. Prepare for lines and don’t leave without a nitro cold brew." - Brant Cox

Google
TL; DR—This cute, cozy coffee spot has friendly staff and fresh, on-site roasted beans. The coffee is good, and the vibe is excellent, though it can get busy. It would be even better with indoor seating. 4 out of 5 stars. Service: The staff is super friendly and efficient. Even with a morning crowd, they keep things moving smoothly, making the wait feel shorter. They give off a welcoming vibe, which adds to the experience. Food (Coffee): I tried the Black Eye (drip coffee with two espresso shots), and it was solid—strong and smooth. They offer light and dark roasts, so there’s something for everyone. It's not the best coffee ever, but it’s fresh. Atmosphere: It’s a tiny, cute shop with a cozy, local feel. It gets busy in the mornings, and since there’s no indoor seating, it’s more of a grab-and-go spot. Some seating would improve it, but it’s still a quick stop. MISC: They roast their beans on-site, and you can buy some. They also sell merch if you’re into that. Overall, it is a solid place for coffee, but it would be even better with a place to sit and chill. There is plenty of street parking.

Google
Fun coffee shop for tourists and if you're in the area might as well stop by. Lines can get really long on those busy weekend mornings though. Coffee is just okay in my opinion but others seem to really like it. When ordering, note the sizes because some of them can be 4 oz. There's virtually no seating except out back in the sun lol There's a neat little weekend market just outside so that's a really fun vibe Drinks: 6/10 Service: 5/10 Atmosphere: 5/10 Value: 5/10

I'm coming back for sure if I'm ever around in Joshua Tree! 🌵☕️ #coffeelovers #joshuatree Coffee was good! Downside is that coffee is really overpriced, which I can see why! But for sure it's a must that you guys have to come here! Even just for that one-time experience, lol Just ordered a vanilla ice coffee, which was really well made. How I love my ice coffee! 🧊☕️ #coffeeaddict #icedcoffee

Google
A good coffee but it takes forever. The staff is friendly but no one is in a hurry to serve and get the product out even with long lines things move real slow. Took over 25 minutes to get a single simple coffee with only 6 people in front of me. No food at all, no pastries etc. Coffee is it and they Pattern after Starbucks with most of there roasts add over roasted with that slightly burnt taste.

Melissa McGuire

Google
Bought a bag of whole beans “The First Roast”, when I opened them they smelled burnt or over roasted. After grinding and making the coffee at home, it was truly the worst I ever tasted. Bitter and burnt. Would not recommend. Waste of money and also time waiting in a long line just to purchase a bag.

Google
I am not one to leave a bad review but this coffee is the worst I’ve had in mine and my friends’ life. I ordered a cappuccino and it’s undrinkable from how burnt and bitter it is. The latte we got was barely saved by the oat milk and the cold brew was so watered down it tasted like watered down milk with a splash of coffee in it. The cups are cute but that’s the extent of our visit here. We like supporting local businesses, but this was substantially worse than gas station coffee. I genuinely wish I could say that I enjoyed this but all three drinks are going straight to the trash.

Google
Goo coffee served in original cups with a Joshua tree logo on them. More than a café to sit down and enjoy your coffee, this is a place to take your coffee out. You can also buy coffee beans and ground coffee, as well as other coffee related items, such as mugs.

Google
This coffee place is not amazing. It's average at most. I don't even think it beats Starbucks. If you want good nitro coffee, go to LA. The ice latte should be the only thing you order here. The nitro taste burnt and chalky. The ambience here is pretty lively. There's merchandise on one side of the wall. You can also see them roast the coffee through the glass window. There's seating in the back, which is outside.

Yelp
When driving past, I always notice a long line for the coffee here. My group and I had a long drive back down to San Diego, so this was a good pick me up spot before our drive back! It's located in the same building as the Sky High Pie on 29 Palms Hwy in Joshua Tree. There are free street parking around the area which seemed to be almost impossible to find during the weekend after 8:30-9am. I got their Iced Americano with hazelnut syrup. The coffee was soooo fragrant! It was actually a little better as a latte which my friend got as it brought out its fragrance a bit more in my opinion. But even as an americano, it was quite good. The coffee was a bit pricey especially with the syrup addition but worth the try! Great pick me up spot with their own roasts. A bit on the pricier side but a great try!

Yelp
I'm back in J Tree and decided to give Joshua Tree Coffee another try. While the service was good (much better than last time), the coffee still wasn't great. As a roaster, I have moderate to high expectations and this place just doesn't deliver. I had a Cortado and it tasted burnt, too bitter- not a great taste. Was very busy mid-day and staff did a good job of cranking out the drinks but I would probably go elsewhere next time.

Yelp
Hadn't been by since they were done renovating the inside and wow does it look and feel great inside! This is a must stop any time we're in the desert visiting the National Park or otherwise. The coffee is great and you can see them roasting beans on site. Plenty of merch as well that the barista was super helpful in showing us. They have a shared patio outside for you to enjoy..as long as it's not too hot outside!

Michelle T.

Yelp
Came here 2 days in a row because it was that good! Love the dark roast flavor, it's strong and delicious!! We got 2 iced vanilla lattes (1 with oat milk), perfectly brewed. Place gets packed so come early! Cute store with pink walls and sell tons of merch. Shoutout to the employees as well. Surprised they have below a 4.0 rating, must be from the long lines cause the coffee is amazing!!

Carolina R.

Yelp
This place had been on my list but man it was so disappointing. If I could give it zero stars I would. It is the worst coffee I've had, it was burnt coffee. Skip it. I wanted something sweet and we asked the barista what she would recommend and she told us a latte with 2 vanilla syrup pumps and a pump of simple syrup would be great so we decided to go with that. The minute I took a sip, I was so grossed out. My boyfriend even went to go ask for more vanilla syrup and they gave him 3 pumps but all you can taste is burnt coffee. Paid $14 with tip for burnt and nasty coffee. You'll find a line on weekends. Honestly don't go. Skip it. You're better off making coffee at home. A waste of money.

Yelp
I am reading the other yelp reviews and honestly, I think I am lucky. I walked in early morning craving coffee. This is the only coffee shop in the area that not only roasts their own beans, they also take pride in ensuring that everything from the beans to the syrups to the milks are organic. The line was not too long and the service was alright. I went ahead and tried a latte. While I was waiting, I also took note of the merchandise and the wonderful bags of organic coffee. They are made fresh daily (a couple of them were even roasted the day before). I decided to grab a bag of Breakfast Bliss so I can take a bit of Joshua Tree Home with me. I really enjoyed the latte, it was smooth, strong and with the right amount of foam. A couple days later I tried the coffee bag. It was more of a dark roast, I don't know if it was intentional. But the coffee was really good, it was fresh, not sour or bitter and strong. I would get this again but I would just tell the roasters to change it to dark roast.

Jocelyn S.

Yelp
Mellow Ethiopian - this is a light roast and was told had the least amount of caffeine. I was looking for a decaf drip coffee option. As someone who doesn't drink too much caffeine anymore, it was a great suggestion. The coffee was smooth and earthy. I didn't even get coffee jitters so that was another plus! The 16oz was $3.90 without tax. You'll also find souvenirs like shirts, coffee mugs and thermos cups. Parking can be tough and there can also be long lines so expect to wait 20 min for anything other than a drip coffee. The biggest negative was that the actual cup the coffee was in was trash. It had no insulation so my hand was burning holding on to the drink. It also leaked at the bottom. We had two drinks and both cups leaked. Overall I recommend for great coffee!

Yelp
Very cute inside this place is a staple of Joshua tree we always come when we are in town! They have a cute little gift shop with cute hats and shirts. My friend got an iced americano and he loved it he even bought the dark roast espresso to make it at home!! My other friend got a vanilla iced latte and she loved it as well!!

Lisa R.

Yelp
Very cute ambiance and merch but that's it. My iced latte was so bitter, like burnt and smoky and it was $7.20 which is more than I've paid for coffee in LA! This place has been on my list, but overall it was disappointing.

Dawn M.

Yelp
We got a coffee at this place waiting for a table at the place next door. Well for the starters the line loops inside and we waited for about 20-30 mins for a coffee. It was good and we only waited cause we were waiting for our table but wow I could not believe the line. They did have some really cute merch inside too that I had to restrain myself from buying. The line moved pretty quickly but still took a long time

Codi B.

Yelp
My favorite coffee spot in Joshua Tree. This place is super cute; has fast service, wouldn't say entirely friendly service, and the best part is the coffee. I drink espresso shots and there's is really nice and they don't burn it which is great! So it's not just bitter. If in the area definitely get you a coffee. They also have really cool merchandise.

Lexi A.

Yelp
It's worth all the hype and the long line. The smell of fresh coffee hits you like a brick the moment you walk in. The vanilla latte was everything and more. I took a bag of espresso beans home and have been loving it.

Jessie E.

Yelp
Busy little coffee shop, might be the only one in town. The line was long but it went by fast. My husband had the drip coffee and I had a chai latte. I liked mine but my husband said his was bitter.

Meghan B.

Yelp
Fantastic oat milk latte and a gorgeous shop. My visit was very short but it was still memorable. Would love to come back!

Gina T.

Yelp
Cute clean cofffee shop. Staff was friendly coffee was strong. I liked that they seem to have a roaster in their facility and really make all their coffee there. The dirty chai was delicious and my friend enjoyed her cold brew Will definitely be back.

Lorenzo K.

Yelp
Came here for a quick cup of coffee on our way to Joshua Tree National Park. The service was very quick and the ambiance of the coffee shop was very modern and aesthetically pleasing. The coffee was also very good.

Ren N.

Yelp
Love this place, now that they have an up-do new housing, same roaster. Love the new merch: mugs, t shirts, bags of coffee beans, cute stickers... except for one thing: the T shirt after one wash lost the collar shape. It looks as if someone pulled me by the shirt and stretched my collar and now it looks horrendous. I would like to merch exchange or refund please... otherwise highly recommended to come here if you're in the area! Support local businesses

Reed B.

Yelp
Coffee here is really good and the service is quick and friendly. Would definitely come back next time I visit Joshua Tree.

Yelp
Coffee 3.5 stars As a coffee connoisseur, if this place was in LA it would've been a 2 stars for me. Reason being: - very long wait - price is high esp for such a small cup - coffee beans aren't as fragrant as I thought would be Overall, not bad at all for the desert!

Sabrina T.

Yelp
What a well oiled machine of a cafe. I'm in awe at JT Coffee for being able to handle the raucous crowd of annoying city people making it look like Starbucks in there. The last time I visited, I was the only city folk braving the sweltering 113° of desert Summer but this past St. Patty's weekend was cutsie pootsie sweater weather and you bet your butts it was busy AF. It almost ruined my romantic vision of the desert being this idyllic place removed from the city -- yeah, big face palm for me now that social media ruined all that was sacred. Without further disruption, the coffee here is great. I'm not a latte girl so I can't vouch for all you sugarcoated peeps but I bought two bags of whole bean and a cold brew for the road and they get my coffee master stamp of approval. While you're here, do head to Sky High Pie and get the veggie quiche!

Kay D.

Yelp
The cinnamon spice latte was a chai latter - it tasted like a dirty chai. The chai itself was ok . The caramel latte was very milky. It's overall a pretty small place that serves pretty small drinks nothing special.

Emily K.

Yelp
Okay so this place always has a line, and I get it-- they do great with their branding, BUT the coffee... the true product of their bomb branding--- sucks. Like every time I've been here the coffee is burnt and I can't even finish up a cup of it. I'm with a group of 5 of us and each of us couldn't finish our coffee. This is a great example of a company that is just successful because of the "vibes" or athletics of it all. Sorry yall, maybe get a new roaster?

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Joshua Tree Coffee Co. sits in the middle of the main highway when visiting JT for its beautiful views, thrift shops, hikes, and more. Be aware that there are very long lines (especially on the weekends). Overall, JT Coffee Co. has a beautiful aesthetic/ambiance. It doesn't fit a lot of people however as there is no inside seating. One cool thing is you can view that they roast their own beans towards the back of their shop (which is what probably takes up the most space there). Nevertheless, you can find your way to the back of the shop to go outside and there is a small area between other shops with a few tables. We ordered a regular chai latte, and a dirty chai and both were yummy. This shop has your classic usual espresso drinks, teas, drip and nitro coffee, a few non-caffeine drinks, and a limited amount of flavored syrups you can add to your lattes. I was surprised to see there were no signature or specialty JT drinks (I would've loved to try something desert themed or seasonal, etc.) Another thing to look at while visiting and waiting for your coffee is all of their merch! They carry JT Coffee hats, mugs, shirts, their ground beans, and other goodies. I did take a bag home so I am looking forward to see how it tastes when making it at home! I am sure this is one of the main coffee shops in Joshua Tree so while I do recommend trying it out, make sure to go early or on a weekday so you are not waiting half an hour for your drink. Enjoy!

Catrina C.

Yelp
Wasn't really a fan. The coffee is heavily roasted. Which sometimes I do like but this just tasted burnt to me. I really wanted to like it but the taste just wasn't there for me. There's some better options down the road.

Mylesha D.

Yelp
Getting there: Located off the main road, head West on hwy 62 and take a left onto Park Blvd. Parking can be tricky, but its easier to park on one of the side streets than on the main road in front of the store. Experience: During a camping trip with a good friend, we decided to swing by this coffee shop for a work session and some refreshing drinks. The cafe's ambiance was simply delightful, with a rustic charm and outdoor seating that allowed us to enjoy the desert surroundings. What truly impressed us were the reasonably priced and incredibly tasty beverages. I opted for a classic hot chocolate, while my friend went for their signature cold brew, and we were both thoroughly satisfied.

Denyse B.

Yelp
While visiting Joshua Tree we stopped in to this little coffee shop. I had seen it on Instagram, read some good reviews, and we needed coffee after our early morning hike. The coffee was okay. It wasn't the best or worst we've ever had, but we needed coffee. What we didn't realize was there are no inside tables and the morning was quite warm. Additionally, we saw only two outdoor tables. I'm guessing it's more of a grab and go kind of place. It is super cute inside where you order and they have some fun merchandise. It also has some instagram worthy photo ops. Just know before going that you might want to grab it to go.

Daro H.

Yelp
Always a must in JTree! I recently had a chance to check out the newly-renovated place, and it's beautiful and much more modern looking with a much more spacious area for roasting, which seems to be necessary as I've noticed their beans showing up more at different shops and markets. But I do actually miss the old shop in a way because of that simple sit-down aesthetic that goes with the outdoors. The new layout is designed for large and long lines, and for you to grab and go. But their drinks are generally good, although I haven't had any good drip coffee, even with the lighter Ethopian roast, that suited my palate. They were always tasting bitter and darker roasted no matter what. And, they stick to a certain number of offerings, whereas other specialty coffee shops rotate and highlight their sourcing. Still, the lattes and milk based drinks are good, and their branding has definitely taken off in a good way.

My-Hanh L.

Yelp
The smell of beans roasting from down the street reels you in. Loved the overall look and feel of the place. The swag and merch area was eye-catching for sure. We enjoyed our coffees in the cutest outdoor nook among . We'll be back!

Vivian T.

Yelp
The pretty pink packaging from the espresso roast bag sitting on the kitchen counter at our Airbnb enticed me to pay a visit to Joshua Tree Coffee before leaving! They have their own roasting facility at the shop which I thought was pretty neat. Although I feel like the cafe could use more space, the interior looks stylish and clean. I ordered a hot vanilla latte and was simply impressed. I'm not big on dark coffee, but I do love a good vanilla latte, and this one tasted like quality! They highly pride themselves on organic beans and even educating customers on means they're serious about coffee! I did end up buying a cute mug and if I'm totally convinced, maybe the beans!

Darlyn C.

Yelp
Service was quick however the coffee shop does lack in flavor because there are only 5 options. Our coffee lacked flavor but the espresso beans were really good and tasty. The inside of the shop was aesthetic and cozy. They sell merch which is cool

Sandy H.

Yelp
Ordered latte extra hot. Coffee is warm and taste blunt compares to last time I came 2 years ago. Disappointed and won't return.

Colette H.

Yelp
I placed a coffee order for an event. The order was supposed to be delivered this week and is late. I placed several orders and one of my orders was lost. I do a lot of purchasing and due to this experience will be taking my business elsewhere. I ship one of the addresses frequently, as it is a legitimate address. I typed the shipping address correctly. It was entered incorrectly during the shipping process. Now, the package is lost. I contacted the post office, and they couldn't locate the package. I have placed several orders with this company previously. I have reached out to JTC and the post office; I have not received a response from either. I would not recommend ordering from here.

Diana T.

Yelp
Great coffee and a must-stop every time we're in Joshua Tree. Their merch is super cute and they have an outdoor seating area in the back. Everyone is very helpful and nice. I got a vanilla latte and it was perfect.

Ashley F.

Yelp
Coffee did not taste good, service was unfriendly and rude. Not many options on the menu. Go across the street to The Dez, instead.

Desiree J.

Yelp
Such cute decor/theme, hidden in a small shopping center. Very busy on the weekend! Love that for them. Tried espresso drink, cold brew and chai latte across two days and all were pretty good. Didn't blow my mind but were great and this spot is very necessary out in JT. The staff here is incredible. We had one friend order something quite odd and not only did the woman helping us offer to make it happen, she went out of her way to make sure she got it right and that he was happy.

Luke S.

Yelp
The first time I made biryani, it wasn't great. The first time I tried wakeboarding, I didn't get up. The first time I put on a tie, I was unsuccessful. I've also been unsuccessful every other time I've tried to put on a tie, but I'd like to think I'm improving. Even the first time I came out of the womb, I came out the wrong way. I'm glad there is no need to try that again. All I'm trying to say is that I got the first roast coffee here and was amazed by how good it tasted, especially it being their first roast.

Courtney O.

Yelp
Joshua Tree Coffee Company is popular! Show up on a Saturday morning and the line is out the door. You can buy bags of their coffee beans or grab a coffee to drink. They only have coffee drinks, so don't expect any of your other cafe regular drinks like matcha or chai. The coffee here is strong. Everyone in our group was buzzing on the way back!

Jannice M.

Yelp
this place could be so good. Coffee is bitter and staff is not that friendly. With that said we came to visit Joshua Tree for a week and came here a few times. I wanted to love it! The location is great and convenient but coffee is mediocre.

Briana V.

Yelp
Such a sweet treat finding this coffee shop. Very simplistic and good tasting coffee if you are looking for something to kick start your day or end it . The service was very friendly and coffee came up quickly. I recommend giving them a shot

Lili L.

Yelp
Cute and clean. Came here on a Saturday morning in early July. Not so busy due to the heat during the day. Service was friendly and coffee was good but could have been hotter. Maybe go for an iced coffee ;). A good place to stop by for some quality coffee.

L S.

Yelp
I had 8oz cappuccino with oat milk and hubby had 16oz iced latte. Wow we enjoyed our drinks so much, strong and bold coffee taste, unlike some other coffee shops - more milk than coffee taste. My husband also liked the fact that his latte was not sweet. Great job, this was our first time visiting the coffee shop, and we are fans now:) I noticed some negative reviews about the coffee, I think if you like your coffee drinks sweet and mild, you won't enjoy their creations, but if you are coffee lovers like me who typically drink black coffee, THIS will hit the spot!

Michelle C.

Yelp
Small grab and go coffee place in Joshua Tree! It was a nice place to take a quick stop midst the summer heat. I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it hit the spot. $6.95 total! Drinks are made to order so it does take a little time!

Lauren N.

Yelp
Definitely an iconic spot to stop before exploring Joshua tree! I got the iced mocha which was okay, but my friend got the cold brew and it was delicious even black! they have a little souvenir area and I got espresso beans! I'm excited to try. There can be a little like so get their early! Baristas were kind!

Brittney D.

Yelp
I enjoyed my latte from JTC. Ended up coming here twice during my 3-day visit. They roast their beans on site, which is a nice added touch, gives you something to do while waiting in the foreverline... Minimalist vibe, millennial pink decor, it's like it was made for us. I will say one day service was scattered, next day it was smooth and entertaining. I got an insulated tumbler as my souvenir, again, shopping bc of the foreverline... I'd rate this coffee as above average, for the bean aficionados. Two word review: be patient.

PorschA J.

Yelp
A "vegan" just passing through** The best vibe....especially for music lovers. You can play the instruments if you've got a song in your heart! I tried the accordion! I loved it lol. Ambiance 9/10 *vegan* Iced Caramel Coffee 7.8/10 *vegan* S'more Latte 10/10

Valerie A.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I would get coffee from Joshua tree coffee co whenever we come out to the desert, but over the years I've gotta admit it's just not what it used to be! I truly feel like the quality of their coffee was a lot better prior to the development of the inside of their shop. Baristas and cashiers are chill, but the last time we got coffee here, it was pretty dead and I felt like my coffee was made in a rush when it was completely unnecessary. The barista handed me my coffee which was pretty messy and overfilled lol so I just had to clean it up as much as I could before leaving. Coffee was meh, so taking everything else into consideration, I'll be passing on JTCC next time we visit the desert.

Mary L.

Yelp
Saw the long lines and figured this was the spot for good coffee. Got an americano and soy latte. Both were bitter tasting and just unpleasant. Starbucks would have been a better choice.
