Ethical products and organic bulk foods – most at reasonable prices (5/5 Green Stars) I arrived in Joshua Tree without sun block (D’oh!) so I took a trip to Joshua Tree Health Foods the day before visiting the park. Glad I did – the sun is strong even in December! Staff members were friendly and helpful – one person directed me to the sun block. I bought a tube from the Seaweed Bath Co., thinking that it seemed a bit pricey at around $20 but then checked online and saw that it’s $19 direct from the manufacturer. I looked around the store and saw some interesting products that I’d never seen before, like mycelium-based bacon (MyBacon). Some items seem overpriced (olive oil) but others (Sappo Hill or Dr. Bronner’s soap) are very reasonable. I’m giving Joshua Tree Health Foods 5/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: • Large selection of bulk ingredients, from nuts and flour to herbs and spices. • Almost all of the items stocked in bulk were organic. • When I looked at specific products, like bar soap, the brands in stock were among the most ethical. • A large amount of vegan items on sale such as Nuts for Cheese and Violife dairy. • Inclusive business where all are welcome.

I’m really happy about this store since it carries a lot of organic and vegan food. A really good and large selection. Even my favorite ice cream is in here. And my new favorite product, Bear Bar, which I ended up buying 4. I wish it had better selection of fresh produce. Every time I visit the store many of fruit and vegetables are not fresh. Other than this, it’s a great store.

Very vegan-friendly including raw cheesecake from local vendor “Elive Food” and many diff flavor cookies from “Alternative Baking Company”, mushroom jerky, protein bars, health power snacks etc! Tea, coffee, nuts, grains and legumes in bulk! Homeopathic/holistic stuff, vitamins and other supplements. Also, diff spices, egg substitute, nutritional eggs, coconut milk powder, plant-based milks, yogurts, ice creams etc etc (check my pics). I think vegans are covered, lol

First time visiting. This is hands down a 5stars store. The bad reviews are about masks not about the contents within this store. Wearing a mask is helpful especially to immune compromised people. Lots of organic goodies here especially for vegans. The customer service is fantastic as well. There is a vegan restaurant right next door which is amazing and yummy & very convenient; I can have some yummy vegan foods and shop for some too. I recommend & I’ll return.

Love the selection but the pricing is weird with a lot of the items that you would think should be the same price. 🧐 Also this is not the first time I’ve come in here and the dag on heat is blasting when it’s over 80 degrees outside. No wonder the fruits look like they do.

Felt like our favorite local bio market back in Germany. Cosy, small and sweet.

I did not like this place at all...When I walked in, the manager, an older & very tan lady, was whining & being very rude to someone on the phone...The whole time I was there, she kept walking right next to my visibly injured leg...Her energy was hostile...When I asked her about a product, she was unhelpful...I couldn't wait to get out of the suffocating environment; It seems like one of the employees couldn't wait to either...She looked miserable. The prices here are ridiculous & the products are not great...why does everything have to be processed with soy, which is horrible for you? I will not go back here unless I'm in the middle of nowhere again.

Our recent order was contaminated with strong fragrance and inedible due to this. Many people in our community, including those with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), asthma, and other immune or neurological conditions, experience serious and even life-threatening reactions to synthetic and natural fragrances. For us, even a brief exposure can cause symptoms like migraines, respiratory distress, nervous system flare-ups, or the need for emergency care. In addition to the health risks from airborne scents, fragrance particles settle on unpackaged food items, herbs, and produce — potentially contaminating otherwise safe foods and making them unusable for sensitive customers. This can turn a routine shopping trip into a risky and expensive experience. As a local health food store — a place known for valuing wellness and inclusivity — your leadership on this issue could make a real difference. A fragrance-free shopping experience allows disabled customers to support local businesses without risking our health. Needed to pick up a few things for a celebratory dinner and this place came to the rescue. They are located right on the main strip, with parking out front. The store isn't huge, but it's well laid out and they pack a lot in. The perishables section is definitely limited but we were able to get what we needed. Also had vegan cheese and chicken sausage. To top it off, the cashier helped me select a bottle of wine. Prices are elevated on some of the items but that's no surprise considering the location. Thanks for your help!

I'm all for supporting small businesses, and I get that they need to stay afloat so there's a higher price, but this place upcharges their items like CRAZY...2x the markup for average prices. The majority of their items are at Walmart (not ideal) for half the price, which I recently discovered as a local. Unfortunately, there are no health food stores around so I wonder if they raise their prices because they know they can. The other issue is that they don't keep track of their inventory and have loads of expired food. Got hot dogs the other day and didn't realize they were 3 months expired until I got home. Drove back to get a refund and they didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. I was curious to see if it was just the ones I picked but the whole row of them were expired. Overall, crappy experience for a high price.

Bulk Herbs sold Here! Been looking for herbs fo purchase in Bulk and this is the Only spot i've found so far that has them! You're able to take as much or as little as you'd like of everything from Thyme, Oregano and Rosemary to herbs such as Lavender, Chamomile and Mullein, aswell as seasoning blends, tea blends and salts! Prices are good in this section, groceries are understandably priced a little high compared to regular stores. Quality is sure to be better tho!

This place has everything and more. From vitamins, healthy food options, Kombucha, beer and wine! All of it. We came here to get some raw bars and goodies for late night snacks including some great beer selections for the fridge. The staff was very friendly and easy access parking in front.

INSANELY EXPENSIVE I know this is a small business, but I'm not made of money. I only come here for one or two things I can't find at the big box stores because I cannot afford $10 for a bottle of nutritional yeast I can get at the chain stores for $5.50. This place is robbery. The produce is small in quantity and why would I pay $2.50 for one avocado when I can get 2 for $3 at the farmer's market? The employees are OK. The younger woman is nice but the older one isn't. The owner is smarmy.

This is where I pop in before heading into retreat for my goodies and scent free products. Everything is easy to find, otherwise just ask! They also have organic half&half, gf breads and cookies, and they are next to a very sweet cafe. Staff is sweet and helpful!

Been coming to Joshua tree health foods for 4 years. Love this place. Has everything you need and if it's not there the awesome staff will order it and call you when it's in. Love the owners Linda and Dan. They make you feel like family.

I came in looking for healthy snacks. Got some delicious figs and toasted sunflower seeds you can sample at the counter. Right next to Natural Sisters Cafe.

Stopped at Joshua Tree Health Food to get lunch on our way to East Coast. What a nice store! Great selection of healthy foods, very friendly people and quick service. Will definitely stop here again on our way back! Ha!

I picked up the most blissful homemade chapstick here. I've used it so often that I can't even read the label anymore. It remains a mysterious yet key item in my gum wrapped filled purse. This whole store is filled with my kind of treasures. It's run with a ton of care and it's ideal for stocking up on healthy items if you live in the area or happen to be passing through. From homemade coconut milk ice-cream, to local salves, to bulk herbs, to vegan snacks and much more - Joshua Tree Health Foods has it all. I highly recommend buying some of the unique locally made Joshua Tree food or health products which they carry here and asking the staff to tell you more about them. It's the perfect way to support talented people in the area and to learn more about the magical world that is Joshua Tree. Trust.

This store definitely has good vegan groceries, which is what I need as a yucca valley resident. They have a good variety of fresh, frozen, and packaged foods I can eat that I can't find anywhere else. Staff is super friendly and I love going there. However I'm only giving four stars because the prices are insane. I am from Manhattan and it's more affordable to grocery shop at the Whole Foods there as a vegan than to shop here. I get it. This is a touristy area where the affluent plant based influencers flock and I know this is a business that has to stay afloat. But $12.50 for a pound of beyond beef is so nuts and keeping me from being a regular, even though I live down the street.

Small in size, but loaded with tons of food and household items, JT Health Foods has all types of foods for all types of dietary needs from vegan to organic to gluten-free, all that jazz. Bulk and prepackaged foods, frozen and boxed, beauty items and ritual items, you probably can find it here.

Been hiking in Joshua Tree for many years, and for probably about 20 of those years, we have ALWAYS enjoyed stopping in at Joshua Tree Health Foods, right near the south entrance to the park, to grab some organic hiking treats & drinks or herbs - the place is surprisingly well stocked for its size, it ALWAYS has friendly, cool people around to help and the prices are very reasonable. With otherwise low expectations for a pretty remote area, we LOVE that this place has been there for us!

Love this place! The selection rivals that of Erewhon in LA, and the staff is really cool and friendly.

I was so excited to get food there. I have an autoimmune illness/ am disabled and they are a block away from my house. But they don't accept Ebt because their machine has been down for awhile. I find this slightly classist. Especially when I called to double check and was told rather bluntly w/ out any apology for inconvenience. I have worked for co-ops and health food stores and never felt so unwelcome tbh. ): I need this food in order to survive, I don't take lack of food availability lightly. P okay selection but not okay with whoever answered the phone and their attitude toward marginalization! I had already gone in their once and took the hit and paid... But mayb they only wish to cater to $$$ colonizers? Not okay. Healthy food belongs to everyone. Especially since I actually live in Joshua Tree and need these restricted diet foods and can't find them anywhere else. Mayb I will just make my own paleo everything from scratch and open my own health food store. Really upset!! The woman who answered the phone seemed v apathetic and perhaps privileged. The other helper there is really cool but this woman a piece of work.

Stopped here while Camping and Rock Climbing in Joshua Tree . . if you're a healthfood junky or plant based this place carries alot of health goodies typical stores don't. Yes the prices are a bit high but you are supporting a small local business. I did have an issue with a purchase that KAT handled for me over the phone, the whole reason I'm taking the time to write this review was because I was impressed with how my issue was handled over the phone, it's the type of service you only get from a small business when people actually care about their customers, thanks again, I'll be back in the future

Super expensive!! At least 50% higher than normal stores. Theres a vons down the street.

Great little health store. Everything is good quality, clean store, decent prices, great location and really good customer service.

This is my oasis​ shop in the desert, my home away from home, the place I come to converge with my people and to buy the products I buy and those I can't find anywhere else. This place is a remarkable resource; replete with every kind of healthy alternative to the norm from cleaners to toothpaste to lotion, it's all there and all the highest quality AND not the highest price. Prices compare to what you find at the best of the health food stores in LA. Love this place, I'll always be back.

Stopped here to grab a snack before heading into Joshua Tree National Park. Found the most amazing turmeric bites. They had dates, cashews, chia seeds and turmeric. They have so many options for anything you could want for your health. Kombucha, alkaline water, sprouted bread, steel cut oats, protein bars, and so much more. If you need to pick up vitamins, this is a good stop, too. The cashier who I assume to be one of the owners had her two standard poodles with her. They were so well behaved. Love people that love dogs and bring them everywhere. I got a tremendous amount of good vibes from this place. Hope to return.

I love the ladies who have been working here steadily for the past few years. They're so helpful, kind and "neighborly". They assume the hippie spirit of Joshua Tree and treat everyone well. I've never gone in and been met with an unhappy worker. Recently they extended the size of the store and included a LOT more food items, which I love. And if they don't carry something they accept requests to stock items and/or will special order it for you. Lots of vegan & dairy-free options. Plus fresh produce from local farmers. + military discount!

Employees are so welcoming to everyone here, from locals to out of towners. Very happy, kind people working here. No judgement. Look for as long as you like. They don't bother you, but let you know they are there if you need them. Not like other health food stores where the employees hover. A very inviting space.

Really great store with plenty of great options for vegans -- I was very happy to find this store during my visit in Joshua Tree. It's exactly what wanted for provisioning my AirBnB rental for my trip and extra snacks for the road.

Over priced, never greeted or asked if I need help. It's a tourist trap if you ask me. I would rather shop elsewhere.

They have ice cream! Home made and unique flavors. The only downside is that you'll have to buy a whole pint and eat it before it melts in the hot desert sun.

This is a lovely tiny market in Joshua Tree. We bought eggs (local), organic bacon, organic cheddar, organic chicken, organic bratwursts, crackers, vitamin C and delicious organic beer. This is a great place to pick up healthy options in Joshua Tree. The people are super friendly, too.

Organic Fuel for your project! Healthy locals! Closed Sun + Mon. As a one time dirtbag climber, I oddly enough found myself with enough cash to both shop here and buy the occasional piece of gear around the corner at Nomad. Yeah! Utah unemployment for making it so easy to call in my weekly claim and stoking me with the direct deposit. Boo! NPS for now charging to camp at Josh.

What a Godsend, this place is! I buy a lot of our food here and come in on a weekly basis. I even buy our dog's food here! Everyone that works here is sweet, friendly and knowledgable on their inventory. I would have to drive an hour away in order to find the things my families use every day if it weren't for this amazing store, so I appreciate it very much. They have a artisanal items on occasion and they're all very good. I highly recommend all of their ice creams, buying herbs and salt in bulk, and the thai coconut curry hummus they have in the refrigerated section. It doesn't last the car ride home... PS: If you're active duty, they offer a discount with ID! :)

Really great selection if you are looking for fresh produce, vegan, gluten free and alternative food options. Sadly the service was terrible. Walked up to the register for checkout to be shooed away by the woman working. She responded rudely by saying she was ringing someone up who wasn't even there. Then with snarky sarcasm suggested that we pay for the customers groceries. Btw, she had also shown annoyance and ambivalence when we asked about a products availability five min prior to us checking out. Basically, we felt like we were a bother and aren't we the customers?! Hope they can make quality customer service more of a priority.

I'm probably there at least once a week. They're incredibly helpful, just enlarged their place and it was awesome before!

I have shopped at Joshua Tree Health Foods virtually since the day Linda opened the store. They have a knowledgeable staff, great inventory, reasonable prices and they carry the exquisite Joshua Tree Coffee Company coffee.

sheesh, I experienced the worst customer service ever at this place which was otherwise pretty cool in terms of selection...first, the woman working there got annoyed when we simply asked if they had any more of a certain beverage...then she was super rude when we attempted to purchase our items, not making eye contact and rudely told us no someone else was already making a purchase, then made a stupid comment about us paying for the other customer's items. fortunately, another employee who was far nicer ended up ringing us up...otherwise, we would have walked out without buying a single thing. word of advice: fire that lame snobby entitled middle aged woman and give the nice young girl who helped us a raise.

Like most "health food stores" this place is at least 50% supplements and powders. That's not food. What they do have is fine, but it is so tiny that there is no way you can really do all your grocery shopping here. If they would nix the supplements and fill the isles with food, it would be better. Found some nice sprouted bread there, though, that we quite liked and in JT this is the only place you're gonna get free range eggs or organic milk.

Solid little health food store. I needed a couple of my regular supplements that keep me going and I forgot them when I left on vacation. They have lots of options for all my regular herbs and vitamins. They also had a great selection of healthy snacks that packed well for our hiking in Joshua Tree. I was super happy to find a nice little health food store, even if it was in the middle of nowhere.

LOVE Joshua Tree Health Foods. They carry a good selection of organic produce, gluten free foods, health and body, wines, craft beers (my favorite is the Crabbies ginger beer), spices and more. Everyone here is super friendly and sweet not to mention helpful.. I desperately needed something for my dry skin, trying everything else and nothing working I came here to find something.. I was introduced to the "NOW" brand shea butter which works amazingly. This place is a must visit spot. It is like a smaller WAY smaller version of WHole Foods, Mother's Market, Sprouts located In the heart of downtown Joshua Tree and near so many amazing shops, restaurants and the new coffee shop Joshua Tree Coffee CO.!!

Very well stocked, whole-food like local market. Really made our trip by supplying us organic beer, soaps, and gifts.

Great selection, especially for a very small store - they have a ton of excellent options that I can't track down in my usual "big city" health food places! Made my stay in Joshua Tree all the better.

Thank you for being open in a small town in the middle of the desert! I thought that I would have to live on nuts and dried fruit for my time in this area, but this place sells healthy, natural products and offers local produce.

The employees are so helpful and friendly. Great store, easy to find things. They have a great selection of food, toiletries, gifts and interesting things. All things in the store can be trusted to have been ethically sourced, eco-friendly, and healthy.

Great produce and snacks. Good service and great selection of health foods. I love picking up items here when I'm in town.
