This was my first time visiting Joslyn in almost 25 years as I no longer live in the area. I grew up in Omaha and visited Joslyn many times over the years for school trips, for family enlightenment of the arts, also for their Jazz on the Green concerts where we would visit the museum before the concerts. Visiting the Joslyn this time I was very impressed with the recent building additions as well as the art collections in the various galleries. Well done Joslyn, this museum would be good fit for any city anywhere. Plus free parking and free admission, wow.

Sadie Kane

Google
It is a free museum. Dogs are allowed on the property, but not in the museum. I recommend picking up a map in the lobby, as there are lots of rooms and hallways. You can very easily spend a couple of hours there. There are certain rooms in the museum that you can't go in without a ticket, but most of the museum is open for anybody. They have beautiful paintings and artifacts. The architecture in the building is amazing, and they have engravings on the outside of the building as well.

Google
The Original part of the building, made of Georgia Pink Marble, and the addition with the Glass Atrium are a piece of art themselves. The gardens are beautiful. It wasn't too busy on my visit. Parking was not an issue as I had anticipated. The museum is free, some special exhibitions are not though.

Google
A local in Omaha recommended the Joslyn Art Museum, mentioning that it was free. This raised my spider senses since free art museums are typically smaller, have limited collections, and are often staffed by younger adults who aren’t very enthusiastic. None of that applies to the Joslyn Art Museum, zilch nada. The building is a work of art itself and houses a collection that could rival well-renowned art museums in larger cities. It was very impressive and definitely worth the visit. With that said, the proof is in the pudding; check it out yourself!

Google
What a thrill to see and experience the new renovations and additions. The place was humming and buzzing, so encouraging to see this love for the finer things being taken in by a cross-section of generations. Beautiful. We took part in a well prepared tour of the Great Plains artists that promoted discussion and input. All was so excellent.

Google
I haven't been to Joslyn since I was a kid, so I was excited to see it again during a recent trip to Omaha. What an AMAZING place if you love art! Even if you dont care for art, the building itself is truly spectacular and worth seeing!

Google
This place I love.... And it's free. They are so fair here everyone's art is art here. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do. Love this place almost every time I visit Omaha my daughter takes me there. The new additions are amazing... And it's free. Outstanding

Google
It’s my first time visiting an art museum and I absolutely loved it. They have veryyy good collections. Definitely worth the visit. Also, they have a cafe and I tried their mocha latte and vannila matcha latte also strawberry dessert. Trust me they were sooo good. The matcha had perfect flavor and it was very delicious. Great indoor and outdoor seating area.

Yelp
I just visited the renovated Joslyn Museum and was very impressed! They did such a good job at blending the historic parts of the building with the new additions. It feels modern but still keeps some of its original charm. We also enjoyed checking out their café. They have really good food options and, surprisingly, really great coffee. The exhibits were so well curated, and there was a nice mix of classic pieces and newer contemporary art. It's a great space to spend a morning or afternoon. Perfect spot for families, date or even a solo visit. I definitely plan on coming back since a couple of hours didn't seem like enough for us!

Yelp
The Joslyn Art Museum is a free admission art museum in the heart of Omaha NE. Lots of parking along with friendly and educational staff. Having someone open the main door for guests into the building when it was 100 degrees F outside was above and beyond...! The young lady who greeted us at the front briefed us on the free galleries...and the visiting display that required a purchased ticket to view. Staff is avaiaable throughout the museum, stationed outside or nearby every major gallery, if you have any questions and need direction. The museum is easy to navigate. The galleries are easy to find and there is an efficient flow through each to the next. This isn't the biggest art museum I've been to, but I enjoyed the visit. I was impressed with the quality and presentation of the galleries and displays in the Joslyn Art Museum...

Yelp
Took my girlfriend here and really enjoyed the visit. The building itself is beautiful, sleek, modern, peaceful, and the layout makes it easy to take your time and soak it all in. The cafe was a great spot to relax. It was quiet, and the Mediterranean salad was well made. As for the art, my favorite piece was Night on the Oregon Trail by Frank Tenney Johnson. There's something about the way he used dark tones that still somehow felt warm and vibrant. He captured the stillness and comfort of a quiet night on the trail in a way that really stuck with me. Highly recommend checking it out whether you're into art, architecture, or just looking for a peaceful place to spend a few hours.

Yelp
The Edgar Degas' sculpture "Little Dancer Aged Fourteen" is one of my favorite art pieces anywhere, so amazing to have such a classic right here in Omaha. Really enjoyed exploring the newly renovated and expanded museum. Disappointed to see the beautiful Chihuly glass two-story piece was removed, but I hear it is going to be displayed somewhere else in town.

Yelp
It has been at least 20 years since the last time I visited the Joslyn museum. With the recent expansion, we decided it was time to visit and see the new section. Besides the additional space, the Joselyn has made some great art acquisitions. My thing is European art and their selection has expanded from what I remember. I especially like the El Greco they had on display. They have areas for just about any kind of art, including some interesting modern art (usually not my thing). Access was easy off the highway, parking was available even though the lot was almost full (rainy day so people looking for things to do indoor), reasonably priced cafeteria, plenty of bathrooms, and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

Yelp
The weather was cold and I had time to waste so why not go check out the museum . . . Did I mention it's FREE?! This museum has a mix of various types of art (contemporary, modern, historic, Indian, etc) that everyone can find something that catches their eye and makes them take a second glance. They also have an instillation of trains that cost $10 to see however there is a day of the month that the museum is open late and you can see that for free as well. With that said I wandered around the museum and they have seats available so you can sit through out the museum, looking at some pieces in amazement and others wondering if I had missed my calling. They say art is in the eye of the beholder as everyone may see something different when looking at it. I was blown away by the art work of Renoir, Monet, Warhol, Pollock, Degas, but I was also intrigued by things like the history of the Indians in Omaha and "The beauty of change". I highly recommend that you take a trip to the museum and see these beautiful pieces for yourself. I would definitely come back and see it again.

Yelp
Definitely the highlight of our family visit to Omaha! This museum has a beautiful open space, filled with diverse art, and creativity. One of my favorite art museums that I've ever visited, and I've visited quite a few. Highly recommended and will be revisiting as often as I can.

Yelp
I am so glad that Joslyn has finally re-opened! I moved to Omaha about 6 years ago and had not gotten the chance to explore the Joslyn, and I am so glad that we did. The Joslyn is a beautiful building that houses even more thoughtful and beautiful art. I loved looking at all of the piecies, and thought that the gallaries were curated perfectly to capture emotion and display the art. My favorite piece was bright flowers that was on a pure black background. The striking difference between the colors was very eye-catching. Not to mention this painting was created in the 1600's- adding to the appeal and constantly making me wonder what life was like back then. It was interesting to see all of this old artwork that offered a glimpse into the foods and scenes that our ancestors encountered. Not to mention, admission is FREE! The joslyn is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon!
google avatar

Julianna Z.

Yelp
Coming here to say I HIGHLY recommend the studio classes at the Joslyn! A great way to spend a few hours a week and work those creative juices. Affordable and fun way to learn more painting skills. Just finished the acrylic painting class and was very happy with the results. Can't wait for the next one

Yelp
Visiting the Joslyn is something I did since I was a kid. I loved (and still do) looking at the art on display and letting my imagination run wild. Before the museum closed for renovation, I took my kids and spent most of the time in art works (the kid section of the museum) and in the sculpture garden. Now, we spent most of our time in the newly expanded contemporary area. I love that the gift shop is in the open and not in a cramped, dark room. When the weather is nice, there is a patio one can sit outside. I heard good things about the cafe. The sculpture garden (and water feature) is still there. The only downside is parking on the property has been reduced.

Yelp
Decided to stop in for my birthday since I had never been and not to mention that it's free. Awesome. Lots of cool and beautiful stuff friendly staff and the building so pretty too.

Yelp
Not a huge museum person, but I stopped by since it was free and I am so glad I went!! The museum is massive and so beautiful! There is such a wide variety of art, so there is something for everyone. Right when you step inside, you can appreciate the gorgeous modern architecture of the building. There are tons of rooms and galleries to explore. The shop also sells a variety of merchandise such as prints, books, postcards, cups, cards, puzzles, stationary, socks, etc. the cafe is situated in a nice area with floor to ceiling windows and ceiling glass windows as well. Love it!! And there's a big chihuly art sculpture by the windows as well near the cafe seating. Workers were super friendly. There's an area with coat hangers for your large jackets and coats. Parking was free. And admission was free as well - so crazy!! My expectations were low since it's free, but it might have been my favorite museum so far, even better than the ones in Seattle and LA! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Love the new wing they built to the Joslyn, they've really made this become more of a "big city" museum than an Omaha-size museum. I liked the museum before, it was well thought out with the design and curated collections, but now it feels like so much more. I really enjoyed all the new modern pieces and multimedia pieces in the new wing, and the changes to the cafe and gift shop complete the package. My friend and I came for the refugee fair (which itself was incredible, highly recommend you attend next year!), and we stayed for lunch. Clean Slate Cafe has really done something special with the food options, including wine and beer choices, and lovely desserts. I got a salmon Niçoise salad with a glass of Prosecco, and my friend got a noodle bowl, strawberry lemonade, and chocolate dessert. We both rated them 10/10 meals, and lingered over them for a long chat in the sunshine flowing in through the glass walls.

Yelp
Hard to say anything bad about experiencing hours of culture and amazement for free. Great old building, nice people, laid out well. Free parking easily available, open late a couple nights a week. Not a lot of big name pieces, but they have some pretty interesting stuff. I was able to spend 2-3 hours here and really enjoyed myself.

Yelp
Finally get the chance to revisit this place after 6 years. The architecture and the design looks more sleek and modern yet minimalist. I especially like the temporary art installation / gallery like the Japanese art, it provides a different type of brushing and details as compared to the European arts, not to mention there's a variety of classic and contemporary art as well - and they're free admission! (Except for the special exhibit). Definitely will revisit and highly recommended if you would like a museum date!

Yelp
This is a marvelous museum for all, regardless of age and experience with art/history. And it has a fantastic collection of both modern/contemporary and more historic pieces (artists included: Degas, Rembrandt, El Greco, and Konstantin Makovsky, among many others). Immediately upon walking in, there's a cute gift shop with art and photography books, clothing/accessories, and other souvenirs, including a section for kid toys. I also noticed that it was free admission (seemingly every day) and for everyone, which I thought was wonderful! The building itself can also be considered art: from the parts we explored it has at least 2 stories, with each room hosting a variety of pieces from different artists and eras. There was also a cafe/eating area, a sculpture garden, and several sections with chairs and couches where you could simply relax. Overall this was a great museum and a rich experience that I thoroughly enjoyed! If I'm ever back (and when the weather is a bit warmer) I'd love to explore it more and get a better look around the gardens and other rooms!

Yelp
We went to see the new addition of modern art. The outside looks more like a beautiful casino than an art museum-architecture is beautiful and modern. The exhibit halls are roomy with life-size pictures and statues. There's a wide variety of art here. Access to the original museum is easy going through the inside and there is also a dining area if you want to get a light bite to eat. We were proud to show it to out-of-town visitors .

Yelp
My husband looooves going to the Joslyn and we were both itching to get back after their renovations. We've been back twice since it's opened so far and it is lovely! There is so much open space and natural light and the outdoor area is lovely as well. You definitely won't be disappointed with an afternoon spent here, made sweeter by the fact that it's always free! This review, however, is primarily about the new dining area/cafe. The menu here is so mouthwatering, I feel like I need to try it all and maybe one day I will be successful in that. We went recently for a lunch and truly had a very tasty, satisfying meal overall. I got the kimchi grilled cheese and my husband wanted to try the special of the day which was a vegetarian succotash. We shared a side of the Bombay potatoes. The kimchi in my sandwich wasn't super strong, but added a very nice tang to a very rich and creamy sandwich! I would 100% eat this sandwich again and maybe even try to make it at home - it's so good! My husband also really enjoyed his succotash and the bites I had were delicious, but he did comment that it wasn't quite as filling as he had hoped. The Bombay potatoes were a bit disappointing to both of us - it was the only dish that was lacking in flavor and was overpowered by the yogurt compared to how many potato pieces were there. This dish I probably wouldn't order again unless the recipe changed significantly. I washed it all down with an iced tea sweetened with simple syrup. It was a very lovely afternoon with a great meal. I look forward to trying more from their menu!

Yelp
I was so happy to come back to the Joslyn Art Museum for the first time since the renovations! I love how admission to the museum is now free for all which makes art more accessible for anyone! I love to come here with friends to browse the various galleries and I am always in awe of how they have Monet as well as other incredible artists. (I don't think I'll ever get over how old some of the art is yet how it is in such great condition, honestly think that's magical). I love the added area with it feels more inviting and open with the many windows. I think the Joslyn is a beautiful art museum and I'm so glad it's here in Omaha!

Yelp
The Joslyn Art Museum is the most recent place that we have visited here in Omaha. It is a large complex which was recently renovated and expanded, housing a wide variety of artwork--some are beautiful pieces while we wondered why others were even qualified as art... My wife several times commented, "I could do that". The American Art section displayed several Native American items, including painted buffalo robes. That section connected most closely with me, since this area was frontier land when various explorers and pioneers temporarily settled here during their treks westward. The European Art galleries included a couple of Monet paintings. I much preferred the American and European artwork to the contemporary art which is exhibited in the newer building. The museum's buildings themselves are good artwork. The exteriors present an interesting mix of old and new architecture. The spacious interiors provide plenty of room which allows for a peaceful, relaxed experience.
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
I'm usually not one for art museums but this blew my breath away. There were so many interesting pieces and wonderful works that my family really enjoyed. I brought my family and we couldn't stop mentioning the stalagmites made entirely of buttons. I loved the fountain and some of the earlier pieces within the southern building. If you happen to get a little hungry, there's a cafe within. They don't allow the goodies through the museum, but the option of having a cafe is always nice! I highly recommend if you're looking for something new!

Yelp
Wanted to update since I was finally able to tour the new 2024 addition that kept the Joslyn closed for 2 years. The new space is absolutely beautiful!! The ample light, big windows and curved architecture give it a real peaceful vibe. The gift shop is large and spacious, not a bit cramped like the previous one. I bought a jigsaw puzzle. A bit pricey but a nice souvenir of my afternoon spent here. The Durham Cafe in the 1994 section has a lot of seating, even some outdoors. The grounds are green and beautiful. The galleries in the new section were big. It felt huge with lots to see. One could almost get lost up there. I noticed they had stations where one could grab a portable seat to carry around (something that may come in handy for me someday). I was there today for a musical tribute to Jacque Brel sponsored by the Alliance Francaise Omaha. It was in Abbott Hall which seats about 100 people. Not a bad seat in the house! I've been wondering where I wanted to go for my birthday - I think I might drag along my spouse and we can eat at the Durham Cafe and wander around the grounds more this time.

Yelp
This is such an amazing thing to have in downtown Omaha. I was pleasantly surprised by how big it is on the inside and since it had renovations done, it had been a long time since I have visited. I spent a few hours here and definitely want to go back again! I'm excited that they update and change exhibits. Overall a good experience. I have major, major respect for all the artists and appreciative of the staff. They even had audio and visual exhibits!
google avatar

Ricardo S.

Yelp
When your family, friends, s/o's family and friends come, whomever really, come have them join you on your quest to enjoy the art that Joslyn has to offer! I'm only an amateur art connoisseur, and I really enjoy walking around to witness great art structures, pieces, and even alternating exhibits. The Clean Slate café also has great food and coffee/drink selections - check them out!
google avatar

Caletta G.

Yelp
Very impressive collection of a wide variety of art from many centuries and cultures. Appreciate that it's free admission (except for viewing the special exhibits). Friendly staff and nice gift shop.
google avatar

Travis T.

Yelp
The art ranging from ancient times to modern art was interesting to view especially the abstract art and the portrait that resembled kind of like Ronald Reagan. The fountain in the center of the building was also eye-pleasing to admire along with the sculpture garden right outside of the building.
google avatar

Ashlyn R.

Yelp
Such a fun date! FREE!!! Gotta love a free date! The abstract art is so fun to make stories about.
google avatar

Yelp
Refreshed! The Schraeger Gallery with the collection of modern art is amazing. The addition and architecture are beautiful.

Yelp
The museum recently reopened after being closed for 2 years for major renovations. Worth the wait! They have REALLY stepped up here. The new building is beautiful. The art looks great, everything has been cleaned, labeling has been updated. What matters to me is that over the past several years they have been mindful that they needed a broader diversity of artists, to give a larger picture of the world than had been reflected in the old collection. They have done this well. I was really impressed with their expansion of Indigenous American art and voices. This was much-needed, and I think it has made this museum into something really special. Omaha's not a small town anymore. This museum is world-class. I like that the museum has expanded hours, and I like that the cafe is now open the entire time the museum is open (well, the kitchen does close an hour before the museum does, but that's way better than 2pm like it was). I have eaten there twice. The food was delicious and it's reasonably priced. One thing about the Joslyn that really makes it special is that it FREE and accessible to all. I think that sometimes they will have special exhibits that require ticket purchases but that's the exception. They have also done a great job with kid-friendly activities. Go visit! It's FREE, so you don't have to make a whole day for it if you don't have a lot of time.
google avatar

Maddy G.

Yelp
The new Joslyn art museum is incredible, I can't believe that it's free! There is a great play area for children in the basement. We love the Chihuly glass exhibits. They also have art classes for children or adults! Recommend checking out the young art patrons program!
google avatar

Nesha J.

Yelp
Loved the renovations the place is so nice inside and the art and the small restaurant inside is so good. Eclectic food lots of specials it's nice to eat and then go explore. The programs they have a wonderful and the garden is so pretty!
google avatar

Trina B.

Yelp
As a light art lover, I really enjoy the activity of just walking around the museums and reading the fine prints next to the art pieces on the walls. Really nothing much else to it for me, but Joslyn Art elevates your experience by its great Clean Slate Café, as well as the art events they host! I also enjoy their rotating exhibitions piece - I always check their website to see what's coming up next!
google avatar

Miguel S.

Yelp
Reopened finally! And free to the public! The Joslyn Art Museum v2.0 combines the masonry and style of American Art Deco from 1931 with the post-modernity, large-window-large-light-exposure of newer constructions. The galleries are well organized and while, no NY Met or Guggenheim in terms of size, it does offer enough artistic variety to keep you entertained, pensive and to reflect about the human condition in all its forms. If you're stopping by Omaha, or if you live here and want to disconnect... this gem of the Midwest is here to keep you mesmerized.
google avatar

Robin C.

Yelp
The Cafe at the museum was a nice surprise. The menu is limited but the items that our group had were quite good. The Chilled Rice Noodles were very tasty. Another person in the group ordered the Mediterranean Bowl and enjoyed it. The outdoor seating area is quite nice especially on a nice weather day. The Cafe provided a nice stop as we explored the art museum.
google avatar

Katherine S.

Yelp
You really can't go wrong with a visit to the Joslyn museum. Free admission, extended hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays, more than enough art and space to explore...it's an amazing space to have access to! I had not been before the renovations, but this museum is HUGE. I could easily spend an entire day here; there is so much to see, from modern to ancient art and relics. Upon entering, you are prompted to check in at the front desk, which is manned with very kind and helpful staff. I mostly wandered during both of my visits, but there are opportunities for more guided experiences too. There is a very nice gift shop and cafe that I've yet to try, but the availability of food during a long museum day is definitely convenient. I also appreciated the ample and free parking. Beyond the art itself, which is obviously impressive, the museum building is beautiful. I will be back many times!

Casey W.

Yelp
I came to the art gallery with my group of DD clients. I was the minority as a white woman. We were racially profiled and followed around the entire museum. Incredibly disappointed in the behavior by the staff.
google avatar

Kaitlin C.

Yelp
What a wonderful free asset to the community to foster art and creativity. General admission is always free and then there is an additional paid rotating exhibition. They are adding a new addition to the museum soon and will be closed for a few years. Check it out before then!

Yelp
Phenomenal visit, and a first timer. So happy to be able to contribute to such a beautiful and informative Museum. The Deco exhibit is excellent, my favorite style. Everyone was very friendly and informative. This is a must for anyone living or visiting Omaha.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Very accessible. Free parking and no entrance fee. The Art Deco atrium, Storz Fountain Court, is a sight to behold. My visit was short and sweet. My main goal was to visit the Contemporary section. It is not a huge collection so I would say an average visitor would take 30-60 minutes.

Yelp
FANTASTIC, FREE ART MUSEUM. This is a beautiful Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska. Due to Covid, reservations need to be made online, which was very easy. The original museum was built in 1931, thanks to Mrs. Sarah Joslyn in honor of her husband, George Joslyn. Subsequent additions were made over time, resulting in a large, modern Art Museum. We spent 2.5 hours at the Museum, and enjoyed every minute. The Museum is beautiful, clean and has a lot of staff available to assist visitors. Another vital staff function is to monitor for visitor compliance with wearing masks for Covid- this is strictly enforced. The Museum Cafe and Gift Store are currently closed due to Covid. WELL WORTH A VISIT!
google avatar

Yelp
I've visited big art museums in New York, Washington DC and Paris but it's always a joy to visit some of the smaller museums in cities like Columbus, OH, St Louis, Kansas City and Omaha. Museums like the Joslyn are more intimate and allow you to enjoy tje art without being overwhelmed by it. The Joslyn is a beautiful museum construced of pink granite. They did a beautiful job if expanding the museum in 1996 and were able to obtain granite from the same source as the original museum. The result is a seamless expansion that maintains most of the architecture of the original museum. There is an outdoor sculpture garden in front of the museum along with some water features. Very serene and beautiful. Inside, the main foyer is bright, open and very inviting. A large Chiuily sculpture is displayed over the entrance.

Yelp
Approaching the Joslyn Art Museum, especially early on a sunny morning, the luscious pink marble glows. There's a lot of it to glow, too. In the early 1930s, 250 train box cars brought the stuff here. A 1994 museum addition added even more. The outside of this Art Deco giant looks more like a branch of the Federal Reserve than a museum. With as much marble as there is on the outside, incredibly, there's an abundance on the inside, too. Solid brass doors are plentiful and beautiful floor tiles line the center court. (Restrooms don't skimp on the expensive materials, either, but I'll let you find that out for yourself.) You could visit this museum for the building alone and, since admission is free, you may be convinced to do so. Does the art hold its own in such a building? Well, not entirely. Old masters and impressionism are probably the strengths but the western and Native American collection has interesting works. All in all, this collection features a number of heavyweights but there's nothing iconic here. This is a very safe, unadventurous permanent collection so you may have to do more hunting than you'd typically do to find the individual works of art that resonate with you.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Art museums are not typically something I seek out when exploring new cities so I don't have a great ability to compare. However, general admission to the Joslyn is FREE, so no excuse not check out this beautiful building. My most recent visit was triggered by the "Art of Seating" exhibit. The special exhibit did cost $10, but the kids were free. I really enjoyed seeing a variety of seating options from the past 200 years displayed. Plus, I love chairs, I am even sitting on one now! Beyond the rotation of special exhibits there are permanent galleries featuring artists from all over the world and different time periods. The Art Works room in the basement offered a variety of hands on art related activity spaces was a big hit with the kids too .

Yelp
Employees at the Joslyn Museum are doing their level best to share their collections and special exhibits despite the current Covid-19 pandemic. Motion activated entrance doors, plexiglass separations at the information desk, mask requirements and ample hand sanitizer stations made for a safe visit to view the current exhibit of Currier and Ives prints. Timed reservations are now required to limit capacity and allow proper social distancing. Admission is free to the public with the exception of ticketed exhibits. On previous visits we have eaten at the cafe and love their soup and sandwich lunch specials and delectable desserts. The cafe was closed on our most recent visit but I'm not sure if it was a timing piece or Covid related. We enjoyed the seasonal exhibit and the always required stop at the museum gift shop. (member discounts are great!). Ample free parking is available at the Joslyn and the sculpture garden and grounds are beautiful to browse when weather permits.

Yelp
a must visit if in area. affordable tickets and plenty to experience. one of our favorite museums in area.

Yelp
Not only does this museum lend itself to some pretty epic photo opportunities in the warmer temps but there is also so much to do inside! The museum itself is so beautiful and bright and airy. I've been to a few receitals here, and the balcony is NOT where you want to be, but still beautiful venue. I'm most impressed with the FREE kids room in the basement of the museum, there is so much to do for kids on a really hot or cold day. My little guy was in heaven with the 10+ stations they have and it wasn't overly crowded. I highly recommend for care takers!

Yelp
I really enjoy coming to the Joslyn - recently I went to the 30 Americans show as well as came on a Thursday for the "highlights of the collection" tour - our guide was wesome and the tour was free!! I beliebe 2 times a month they have a free guided tour in Thursdays at 630pm where you can see different parts of the collection. Also, if you have kids/grandkids/neices or nephews that are 10 and under, they have a great "kids" areas which I think is always free to go to.

Yelp
This was suggested by a couple getting married as a good place to go, so natch, we went there. It was good. Lots of art from various eras are located here. The galleries aren't congested, and are well-organized. I think my favorite was Chloe, which is in the south gallery on the north wall, kind of in the middle. Make sure you get to the north hallway and look at the art on either end. It is pretty interesting and striking. You could spend a few hours here, easy.

Yelp
I was very impressed. There's a lot here and I spent over two hours browsing and reading. The museum has mostly paintings grouped into time periods. There are other interesting artifacts but for me I really enjoyed all the paintings. Each painting has a plaque with details. Some have more details than others. This is also the case with the other artifacts. The general admission is free. You can give donations if you wish. The special exhibits have a fee. I paid to see the current special exhibit but wasn't interested in it when I went to see it. My suggestion is go online and see what the special exhibit is all about before paying to see it. Or ask questions about it at the entrance before paying for it. The people that work there are willing to answer questions so don't hesitate to ask. There are workers that roam the galleries to keep an eye on things and to answer questions. I would like to visit this art museum again. I think it's a good one.
