Joy Dim Sum is a small eatery inside Justgo, constantly buzzing with customers dining in and picking up takeout. The prices are affordable, and they offer a wide variety of dim sum, all freshly steamed to order. Despite being a small family-run business, their service is impressively fast, and the food quality surpasses some larger dim sum restaurants in Houston. Their rice noodle rolls are soft, translucent, and filled with delicious ingredients. I've returned multiple times and have undoubtedly become a regular! We came to dine at the restaurant close to closing time, but the staff were still willing to serve us and didn't ask us to leave because it was almost closing time. We really appreciate their service.

The food overall isn’t bad—as long as you avoid the chicken feet. Charging $5.95 for just three pieces is honestly outrageous. I understand inflation is real, but serving only three pieces without any notice to the customer feels deceptive. If a dish is going to be that small, it should be clearly disclosed on the menu to avoid leaving customers feeling misled or taken advantage of.

Google
An unexpected pleasant surprise on delicious dim sum in Sugar Land. All the dim sums that I order were freshly steamed. Also they're fried noodle ( Ho Fun) was perfectly done in the traditional Cantonese way. The atmosphere reminds me of a hole in the wall in Hong Kong. I would absolutely recommend this joint.

Google
Great value dimsum spot! We ordered about 7-8 plates for $41.00. Tastes authentic. Decent portions. Plenty of sauces. Dumplings were fresh and warm. Very good flavor.

Great price for the dim sum. Really tasty. Place is small inside a grocery store. Server was friendly.

I’ve tried DimSum in Sugar Land, Hwy 59, Katy and China Town. This place is my favorite. What I judge is based on my favorite dishes which are: 1. Chicken feet: has the right soft texture and flavors. It’s moist and delicious. 2. Pork Shu Mai is plump, meaty and flavorful. Also very good. 3. Steamed Tofu skin rolls are soaked in a delicious sauce full of yummy fillings. 4. Steamed pork ribs has the right black bean taste and flavors. 5. Steamed rice shrimp rolls comes with that sweet soy sauce and soaks right into the rice roll. 6. Sticky rice is also good. 7. Rice turnip cake has delicious chunks of turnip in it. 8. Taro root dumplings: not bad. Worth a try. 9. Steamed beef ball: really good texture and test. 10. Fish congee: A little bland with some fish pieces. 90% of the time I buy frozen and bring home to cook in my steamer. I love making it at home and it taste as fresh as eating there. I see them making fresh dim sum everyday day so I know I don’t get old dim sum. This place has hard working people making their dim sum by hand so it’s much appreciated when I eat it.

Fill out your order, take it to the counter and wait at your table. The food came out quick. All the dishes were great, its nice to have some good dim sum in sugar land. My only complaint is that I wish they cut the Chinese broccoli, it was a bit difficult to eat. The supreme soy sauce noodles were my fave.

Google
Went one day for lunch and beat the lunch rush! Was a little iffy at first about a dim sum place in a strip mall, but everything we had was good. Service was prompt and food was delicious and tasted fresh, we were so full by the time everything came out. You can only purchase water, and seating can get quite packed if you go during a lunch or dinner rush. Would recommend this place.

Yelp
This is a gem in Sugarland. Food is good and cheap compared to other dim sum places. It's a little mom/pop place inside an Asian Supermarket.

Yelp
Yelp, let me give this place 3.5 stars!!! I really like this place and I want to give it four and there's always chance for redemption, BUT given how much I paid and the location it's in, I should've at least been given more decent customer service Starting with the food, the pork siu mai and steamed chicken buns were AMAZING. Truly, delivering on high quality flavor, very juicy, and getting these two and layering it with chilli oil is such a fantastic idea bc you get a good blend of savory and sweet with a spicy coating (drooooool) Now let's get to the complaints, there's no free water here. They only do water bottles. Given the location and competition with restaurants in the mall, it's not a fast food shop or food truck and it's not boding well with them to not offer water. I wanted a table but they said no tables available but I saw them making accommodations to others asking for a table. Granted, I did ask for one after paying and they caught me a table while I was waiting for food, but when I asked the owner at first she only threw her hands up in resignation and said there were none available rather than trying to make it work, like she did with others.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place out because of the great reviews. Took my dad here for his birthday. The restaurant is located inside Jusgo and has very limited seating. The ordering process is very easy you take a menu and an order form from the front and mark what you want. Once you finished marking what you want you take it back to the counter to place your order. Our food came out fairly quickly. Certain dim sum item portions are smaller than other dim sum restaurants, such as the chicken feet. My dad said the stew beef stripe mix in casserole was missing different meats compared to other dim sum restaurant. We also ordered the beef and shrimp rice rolls, they don't give a lot of the sweet soy sauce with the rice rolls and the rice rolls weren't as thin as I am use too. You get a 5% discount if you pay in cash!

Yelp
Place an order on Mother's Day luncheon at home. Called around 10:10am. You can hear there busy in the background (remind you they open at 10:00am). I was put on hold for awhile. So I decided to hang up and called back 5 mins but the line was busy as I was already heading to the location. I told the cashier lady. I was put on hold and tried to called back but the line was busy. She apologies and said there were busy since they open. She was very nice. I totally understand her situation. She did the best she could as she is the only person in the front. The location is inside the Jusgo shopping center but right outside on the Jusgo grocery store. It's a small cafe, not a lot of seating. Not made for big parties but more for small group is ok. I placed the order. The food came out like 15 - 20 mins. The dim sum food was delicious. It was not a heavy feeling after finish my meal. Definitely planning to order in the near future.

Yelp
Our go to spot in SL for dim sum. They open at 10 and the place gets packed quickly. The food comes out fresh but takes a little while. The restaurant itself only has a few tables and it's crammed but worth it. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
The store is super small, but the foods are really good. The foods came out pretty quick, super fresh, and really well seasoned. We ordered the steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed shrimp siu mai, steamed pork ribs, steamed sticky rice in lotus leaf, steamed mixed meat dumplings, bird nest fried shrimp ball, steamed dried shrimp rice noodle, and supreme soy sauce fried noodles. All of the dishes were super tasty. We loved everything except for the steamed mixed meat dumplings which had nuts and cilantro inside. My absolute favorites were the bird nest fried shrimp balls, steamed shrimp dumplings and the sticky rice in lotus leaf (probably the best I've had out of all the dim sum places I've tried so far). If it wasn't for the small store with extremely limited seating, we would come back more often.

Yelp
Small dim sum restaurant located beside Jusgo that serves yummy food. The thinness of the skin on the dim sums were perfect. Meat to skin wrapping was proportionate too. I highly recommend the custard egg yolk buns. Eat them while they are warm. The saltiness and liquidity filling was perfect. The noodle dishes were so-so. Nothing spectacular. There is limited seating for dine-in. You can eat first and pay later.

Yelp
Best place to get Dim Sum in Sugar Land! The store is located in the Jusgo Super market, the second stall on the left. I always order to go because of their limited seating. I believe there are about 5-6 tables so it is difficult to go with a larger party. Make sure to order in advanced on the phone as they do get very busy and are a popular new staple for the people in the community. My go to is always the Har gao and the pork siu mai. The skin on the har gao is always perfect, Ive noticed that some places tend to either over steam or under steam the dumpling making the skin dry out but Joy is great about getting the steam just right. The Siu mai is super juicy and flavorful. The other items I got (pictured) are also great options!

Yelp
Recently I was bringing dim sum to my mom and grandma and this was the closest place to my house. I had walked past it many times but figured what better time to try them than today. They mainly focus on to go as their dining room is pretty small. I called in my order and showed up about 20 minutes later and it was packed nicely with chopsticks and chili oil. All of the items were delicious. My favorite were the shrimp dishes as they use large shrimp. Next time I need to go dim sum I will be calling them again!

Yelp
I've been to all the staple dimsum places in htx and this place is my fav ! Everything is so good & high quality. The sui mai is juicy and plump. The turnip cake has a nice crispy texture. The rice rolls come with big fat shrimp. The custard egg yolk buns are a must We usually order to go but there are a few tables inside the restaurant. Prices are reasonable and you get a 5% cash discount. We drive out of the way to come here but its so worth !

Yelp
Solid spot for casual dim sum. Don't expect the full cart or even hot tea experience - there's no room for it. Family-run and a little concerning with all the little kids coming in/out of the kitchen. Otherwise, friendly staff and authentic dim sum option without having to leave Sugar Land. Would come again.

Yelp
I love getting dim sum here but it is unfortunate that there aren't that many spots to sit in, especially for bigger groups. But that also brings the benefit of always getting it fresh/piping hot which is major for me. The menu itself isn't as big as some places are but it has the basics that I really enjoy so when I'm craving dim sum, it always hits the spot! I love their steamed rice noodles (esp shrimp), custard egg yolk buns, bird nest shrimp, and gotta order xiu mai of course. If possible, I always also order the steamed pork ribs and football (glutinous rice dumplings) but I can't eat much lol. My parents love the steamed beef ball here and claim it's the best they've had in Houston in all these years. I hope this place continues to get enough support but hopefully they'll also get help so they won't be overwhelmed! I love that my faves here are all good (occasionally would order the custard/bbq pork buns or pan fried turnip cake too). Also, just a note that you would have to buy bottled water if you want to drink water in case you want to bring your own bottle.

Yelp
So delicious and so fresh! Perfect spot to pick up some dim sum to take home to family and enjoy. The service was quick, efficient and kind. Plenty of parking in a big lot since it's in the front part of a market/grocery store. Highly recommend the siu mai and har gow.

Yelp
Quick snack on the go and it's so good!! Definitely will come back next time :) 5% discount if you pay with cash. The owner seems very friendly too!!

Yelp
The most surprising find for me is this togo Dim Sum place inside of Jusgo Sugar Land. We were going to try a Chinese Noodle Place nearby, but they appeared to be slow and shorthanded. The Cantonese in me wanted to give this place a try, especially when I want to avoid fried, grilled, and "yit hei" food. There are only limited tables and seats, and soon after we got seated, people were fighting to get a table. A family left because the guy couldn't get w bigger table for his family of 3... We didn't wait long for the food to arrive. I didn't really expect to find such tasty Dim Sum, especially for a mainly takeout place, but I was pleasantly surprised by everything we ordered. The Har Gow, Xiu Mai, and Cha Siu Bao, the Holy Trinity of Dim Sun are all excellent. After an underwhelming visit to a Katy spot a few weeks ago, Joy Dim Sum restores my faith in quality Dim Sum at reasonable prices. I will definitely come back again to this unassuming place for Dim Sum, a hidden gem inside of a supermarket.

Yelp
This is a small shop in the entryway of the Asian Market. The method of ordering provided an unique experience and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is one of my favorite places to eat now though I don't have the opportunity to go to Sugarland very often. The food is delicious with fair sized portions at a good price. I will definitely be going back. I may make a special trip just for the food and the market.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Some really solid dim sum. Pretty divey, next to the grocery store, but has all the faves. This was maybe the best har gow I've ever had. Excellent flavor, not stuffed with fillers just lots of shrimp, thickness of dumpling was perfect and stayed together. I was completely jazzed about the tofu skin and it was a bit of a let down, very oily and too soft. Everything else was great!
google avatar

Kimberly H.

Yelp
a small hidden gem inside of jusgo supermarket with very limited seating so be prepared to have a wait - tables large enough for about 2-4 people even though the menu isn't as extensive, it has all the classic dim sum items - xiu mai, har gow, chinese broccoli, taro puffs, steamed rice noodle, etc. service was decent and the food came out fairly quickly. to be honest i came in with low expectations, but everything was really fresh and delicious! i was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor. the steamed rice noodle was my favorite item - the texture was silky, soft and perfect. this is a great place to go to in sugarland if you don't want to drive all the way to chinatown for dimsum

Yelp
I always got dim sum in Chinatown but I was in Sugar Land and decided to give this place a try. It's located inside the Jusgo Supermarket next to Mama Wu Taiwanese restaurant. I only had a few dim sum since I also ordered from another restaurant. I picked up my order 15 minutes after placing it. The flavor of chicken feet was ok but the quantity was so little. The shrimp rice roll was not bad. There were a small sharp object in my glutinous rice dumpling. I called the store and the manager or owner said no one has complained this since they opened 3 years ago but they couldn't identify what it was. It was an overall an ok experience.

Jewlon M.

Yelp
Very limited selections but very good food. The service was okay. The ambiance was lacking with plastic sultry.

Yelp
We came to this place for dim sum inside the Jusgo market, but it's still currently serving takeout orders only so we ordered through the QR code. It was really easy and you get 5% off your order for paying in cash. Our order wait time was only 10 minutes, so we just shopped around and got some snacks. By the time we came back, our order was all ready and it was so quick and easy. We ordered shu mai, har gow, the beef wrapped in rice noodles, fried taro, chicken feet, and shrimp wrapped in rice noodles. It was all sooo good. One of the best dim sum we've had. Highly recommend the shu mai. It's so fresh, flavorful, and moist. The chicken feet was huge!! It definitely fulfilled my cravings. The beef rice noodle roll was so flavorful too. Loved the seasoning and the onions inside. The shrimps were very fresh and generously sized. We would definitely come back for our dim sum cravings. This place does have required mask wearing so don't forget your mask if you decide to stop by!

Jung H K.

Yelp
Good food, reasonable price. You order in the front of store than they will deliver to you. Basically no service, even water you have to purchase bottled water.

Yelp
Somehow, the Asian supermarkets always have the best hidden secret restaurants!! Joy Dim Sum is located inside Jusgo (just past the entrance on the left), and it's a great option for both dine-in (at least pre-pandemic) and take-out. I normally don't think dim sum carries out super well, but the food here certainly does!! They have all the usual staples (shrimp dumplings, siu mai, chicken feet, sticky rice, congee, to name a few). Food is very tasty, and the prices are pretty reasonable. There's a discount if you pay cash. We typically order ahead online and it's ready for pickup when we get there. Super happy with their food and service. Definitely our go-to dim sum place in Sugar Land.
google avatar

Emy A.

Yelp
We decided to try their dim sum in the Jusgo supermarket. There are 3 tables for dining in. We ordered a lot of food and they were very good for the price. We really liked the supreme soy sauce fried noodles. They didn't have red wine vinegar. They served a lot of the items in styrofoam, which is such a waste and not good for the environment. They also offer frozen items and drinks offered were bottled water and soda. They have no hot drinks. We will definitely order from them again.
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised and will return! Staff was incredibly polite and food came out in a timely manner despite clearly being busy with both to-go and in-house orders. Food was delicious - only qualm was that the glutinous rice dumplings weren't hot enough. We ordered #2 steamed pork siu mai, #13 steamed creamy custard bun, #21 glutinous rice dumplings, #27 steamed bbq pork rice noodle, and #30 supreme soy sauce fried noodles (huge portion). Total for these 5 dishes was about $34.

Yelp
The restaurant is under new ownership now. Food taste so far so good, but the lady at the counter seem not familiar on what is she doing and kinda impolite. Maybe she is not fluent in English , so when she needs to clarify something, she was impatient and raised her voice. The restaurant always have 5% discount if we pay by cash. And this lady didn't give us the discount even we paid cash. I need to asked her if the 5% discount still available if we pay by cash, then only she gives the discount. Today is the third time i need to clarify with her if the discount still valid, then she was rolling her eyes and said YES. We never encounter this before when it still under the old owner. The previous lady always told us upfront if we pay by cash, we will have 5% discount, then only provide the final amount for us to pay. I know 5% isn't a big discount , but if you want to provide the discount to customer, please be honest. If you don't want to follow the rules from previous owner, just eliminate the cash discount. I have been visiting this restaurant since the day one they opened, I like the previous owner team very much, they've been very nice and honest to the customer. Anyway, please double check your receipt if you pay by cash.

Claudine V.

Yelp
Good food and good customer service! Love it there! They are efficient, friendly and work very hard everyday.

Yelp
Want dim sum? This is a great little family restaurant. Connie is usually behind the counter and is great with responding to customers requests. The food is fantastic and the fried rice is a must try. Don't let the grocery store fool you. This place is amazing.
google avatar

Julia Z.

Yelp
Stopped by after school and saw this place, couldn't resist dimsum so I ordered some steamed rice rolls (my fav) and custard buns. The rice rolls are super good, and the rice skin is thin, which is when you know it's legit. Would stop by again.
google avatar

Tracy D.

Yelp
Locate inside of Jusgo. A few small tables. The staffs are friendly. I did Togo order and within 10-15 the food was ready for pick up. Everything I got was good, and the most outstanding was the chicken feet. It was flavorful and and perfectly cook. I hope they will eventually add Chinese broccoli to their menu. Overall, a solid dim sum restaurant and will be my goto for dim sum since it's so close by.
google avatar

Vanesa V.

Yelp
Picked up dim sum from here while I was in the area. The dim sum here tasted really fresh and well made. They put a lot of meat into each dish so they definitely do not skimp out here. There is no dine in right now so to go orders only. I noticed that they do have a online ordering system as well so would be a good idea to order ahead of time.
google avatar

Gin Y.

Yelp
My family and I have ordered takeout from this spot several times. Joy Dim Sum is actually located inside Jusgo grocery store. It does take some time for our order to be ready. So, I'd recommend calling ahead time to avoid waiting too long. If you opt to eat in, just know the restaurant itself is small and quite limited in seating. We've tried several of their dim sum items. My favorites have got to be the pork siu mai, beef meatballs, and taro cake. My sister in law really likes their har gow. Specifically, their pork siu mai is the best dim sum item I've had because you can taste the chopped pork and the aromatic mushrooms inside. If I was really needing a dim sum fix, the pork siu mai is where it's at. Come check them out.

Arlene B.

Yelp
Good, authentic Cantonese style dim sum; reasonably price. The place is inside the Jusgo Supermarket so it's better for takeout and it has limited seating.

Y K.

Yelp
The food was freshly made and wow it taste great. Really enjoy coming here because the food has been consistent.

Jon S.

Yelp
Very good, authentic dim sum in a very unassuming location. Don't miss this hidden treasure!
google avatar

Yelp
Its located in Jusgo Supermarket. I like that its located in the market and I can multitask. I order my dim sum and pick up groceries. My favorite is the Cheung Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls) with Xa Xiu (chinese bbq meat) My daughter loves the Cheung Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls) with shrimp. I order the pork and preserved egg congee, the pork isn't shredded more like pork chunks.

Yelp
I' just got done with one of the best dim sum meals I've had since I was last in Asia. OMG - I can't believe my wife found this place. No dim sum place has ever had at least 4 stars, so the wife and I had to come check this place out. Turns out YELP was wrong about this place being 4 and a half stars. This place is 5 STARS! Boom! Mind blown. Drop the mic. Everything was delicious. I think we ordered enough to feed a family of four. The crab claws were dynamite. The shu mai was fresh and the shrimp were huge! The taro was the best I've ever had in my entire life. I usually pass on taro, but the wife insisted. I'm so glad I'm a good listener lol. The place is very small and we would have never found it if we didn't google their number. They are located in a shopping mall (Just Go). The place is small, so seating is limited. It's a family owned business which is cool and they are BYOB. Cheers!

Tommy S.

Yelp
Pros: - The food was pretty decent. Shrimp shumai was awesome and so was the fried taro puff. - Accept takeout plus you can do mobile app order. - Convenient location @ the new Jusco in Sugar Land Cons: - Took a long time to prepare ~ 20-30 mins. - Not cheap
google avatar

Brettny J.

Yelp
The food is good. My only issue is the confusion and disorganization with the plates that we received. We got some things that we don't recall ordering and the portion of some things were normal restaurant size portions instead dim sum size which wasn't iterated in the menu or by the server when we ordered. When we got there, there was a wait, but we only waited like 10 minutes.
google avatar

Thomas S.

Yelp
Located inside the Jusgo grocery complex, this Mom and Pop shack served some very tasty but basic dim sum. The dining area was small and menu was limited. It is best to do take away like we did. Pricing was reasonable and acceptable since Jade Garden was the only competitor in Sugar Land for dim sum. Our party of 6 enjoyed every bite at home. Just remember to ask for soy sauce and chili oil, none was given with our order. The employees were very friendly and masked. 5% discount with cash payment.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Grabbing a quick snack. Pork Shumai, pan fried turnip cake, and stewed beef tripe. I always look for these 3 items on a dim sum menu. My sis never told me that her shop was next door to a super Asian market with a ton of Asian restaurants inside!! All these years ‍ look at those pan fried stuffed bread looks like fluffy goodness.

HanMy L.

Yelp
Located inside Jusgo market. Bad service. No soy sauce was provided regardless of what the customer asked for it. Dirty kitchen and the chef touched the food with bare hands (without using gloves).

Yelp
We went all the way to Sugarland (50min drive) for Dimsum on a Sunday morning. We were surprised when we could not see the restaurant as it looked like it should be sitting right in front of our eyes per the map. We just decided to take a chance and went inside this Asian supermarket that seemed to be where our restaurant was supposed to be. And there it was. It is in the front hallway entrance of the market. We got a two for one because not only did we get some authentic dimsum, but we got to shop in the market for so many things you never see at american type stores. The dimsum was delicious. We love bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings and shrimp noodle. Even though they were not seating due to covid we found a place in the store to eat by ordering an item from their deli menu.
google avatar

Bernadette D.

Yelp
Service wasn't good. Perhaps language barrier prevented me being understood. Not bad, standard dim sum fare
google avatar

Yelp
I will recommend all the fried stuff , it was some of the greatest fried dim-sum I had in Houston , well they are in sugar land. Steam I wouldn't recommend but they are ok. Fried go for it!
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
Fast dim sum in sugar land. Menu is pretty basic. I didn't see any veggies on it tho. Conveniently located inside justgo. So you can "justgo" grocery shopping right after dim sum. Yum yum.
google avatar

Isabella W.

Yelp
So good and fresh steam in Sugarland ! It takes about 10 minutes for waiting. The food is yummy !
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Inside Jusgo market in sugarland. Very small restaurant (10 tables that seat 4-6). If there's a wait, Sign in on the clipboard on the stools outside the restaurant. Wait to be called. Prepare for tightness and claustrophobia. Oh they only have bottled drinks or hot tea. Very small menu but good food. I recommend trying it out!

Mai Thao N.

Yelp
Best dim sum place in Houston. I used to only go to Kim Sn on Stafford but now I switched to Joy, and I live In the city which is 25 minutes away. Best items are chicken feet, dumplings and Siu mai. They even sell frozen dumplings and Siu mai so you can store at home. Location : INSIDE JUSTGO market. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR TOGO ORDER. they have actually messed up my order twice. However the quality of the dim sum is so good that I kept going here. Very nice staff.
