I came in under a time crunch and asked how long it would take to get my food and was told 5 minutes. Boy did they deliver! I'm eating the food as I make this review and this is definitely some of the better takeout Mongolian beef I've had. Plus the person who took my order had a very upbeat attitude. He even let me get a free cup of the kool-aid when I asked about it. I'll definitely be back.

I have only been 2 times. The 1st time the food was pretty good. It wasn't the best Chinese I ever had but it was good enough to make me go back. The 2nd visit though? Not so great. I get spicy veggie rice and it was watery and not spicy enuff. It wasn't sticky, it's hard to describe, it just had a weird consistency to it. I ate it, and had an upset tummy the next day. My daughter didn't care for it and barely ate. The crab Rangoon was really good tho.

Google
Fast service, took about 10 min to have a large order ready, 5 meals for 50 wasnt bad , food tastes pretty good too!

Google
Guys it is really just not good. The fried rice is very bland. The Lo-Main was very watery and did not taste good. The sesame chicken was just OK but not good enough for me to go back. I’d say find another spot unless you want to waste your money.

I’ve been to many Chinese restaurants during my lifetime, but Joy Luck is by far the best! I live in Grand Prairie near I-20 and 161, but the 10 minute drive is definitely worth it. I’m a big broccoli and chicken fan and the “Broccoli Plate with Chicken” doesn’t disappoint. The ingredients are super fresh, but the white sauce definitely makes the plate special. I’m not really a broccoli and beef person, but the brown sauce thy use with the “Broccoli Plate with Beef” is super delicious, as well. I was told that all of their sauces are made from scratch. In addition to the amazing food, the owner and staff are also very nice and friendly. This is my go to place when I want some good Chinese food! If you’re in Grand Prairie, there’s no excuse not to try it out! If you’re in Dallas, Arlington, Irving, Duncanville, Cedar Hill or Mansfield and you’re wanting to try something new, it’s definitely worth the drive!

Google
It was fine. I ordered for the fam and everyone was happy so it’s not bad but the egg drop soup was not good. Everything else was fine. We used DoorDash and it only took 30 min or so. Like I said it’s fine.

Google
Great customer service! The gentleman who took my order was friendly and personable with me and everyone who walked in. The orange chicken I ordered was incredible, absolutely loved the crunch and flavor on the orange chicken. The only negative I'd say is, way to much sauce and the fried rice had no flavor or vegetables. Other then that, I'd recommend trying this restaurant out.

Google
My family and I have been coming to this location since I was a baby I am now 25. This is not only a restaurant but a home a childhood core memory! my first time eating fried rice ever was from here and to this day I still order the exact same plate

Yelp
You'd think after frequenting this place throughout nearly 25 years that I'd know the owner's name. Big friendly Korean looking fellow. He always recognizes me (though he doesn't know my name either) and greets me with the warmest smile ever. I actually haven't experimented with the menu much. It has changed once or twice over the years, but the cashew shrimp has always been there and that's all I ever get. It is definitely a happy time when I get it. Now, there are some annoyances I've learned to deal with. The containers are VERY juicy and will leak if you tilt them at all. Be very, very careful. Of course, the rice will soak most of that up, but that's in the top compartments in the tray, so be careful. Also, don't plan on using the napkins they send. They out them in the bottom of the bag. And as careful as you can be, they still leak and napkins get soaked. The goal is to keep it off my car seats and if it takes some sacrificial napkins, then so be it. I just ate, but even thinking about it has me wishing for an order of cashew chicken right now. I love this place.

Whitney M.

Yelp
I've tried this place more than once and consider it very sub-par Chinese with few options. Rice is nothing special.

Marcy J.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years. Some of the dishes are very tasty but we were going for bland when we last went and we got bland when we ordered lo mein. If you want value, this is it! Good prices for a good amount of food.

Steve K.

Yelp
I went here for lunch today. It's about as good as you'd expect. I'm not saying it was bad - I had a decent lunch and am very full. But it just wasn't anything to write home about so I am writing here instead. There are so many restaurants in the area like this one and I never go to any because they all look a bit run down. I'm going to try to visit them all so I can help you know if they are worth it. This is a very casual small chinese restaurant. There are about 10-12 tables inside (see photo). You order at the counter and sit down. The menu / items are a bit confusing. The menu up behind the counter doesn't have much listed, but there are a number of old photos with pictures and labels for many dishes. I got a hot and sour soup and a sesame chicken with rice and a diet Pepsi (no Coke). This came to $15. The hot and sour soup was freshly made - you can usually tell by how cloudy it is (or isn't, in the case of fresh soup). It tasted different than what I was expecting. Almost like it was made with a dense chicken broth. It didn't have any of the usual vegetables in it like mushrooms or bamboo shoots. Just egg and tofu. It was ok, but not great. They do give you some nice fried won tons to go with it. The chicken came out a few minutes later and it was funny because it looked very much like the picture - not super appetizing. The chicken had a heavy glaze and the rice was brown but I do not think it was brown rice. The chicken was all right - very sweet, not a lot of sesame on it but you know, for a place like this, is was good. I mean I ate the whole plate so that must mean something. The rice was shady - I couldn't tell if it was white rice mixed with a little soy or what. I always am wary of places that serve rice like this - they used to mix old/leftover rice like this and serve it as fresh. It was fine - bland but didn't taste off. I mean I had a decent lunch but I don't know that I am hankering to go back. It's good but not great.

Yelp
I want even waste my time writing a lengthy review. I have one word for this meal TRASH!!! Combination fried rice.... Oily All meat: chicken, steak & shrimp tougher than jerky. Salty...soy sauce NOT needed. Avoid this restaurant at all cost.

Jonny K.

Yelp
Joy Luck Joy Luck is your typical Americanized Chinese restaurant. I've never been inside of the restaurant because we always order takeout. Usually I like to eat authentic Chinese food. However sometimes I prefer eating Americanized Chinese. The dishes overall have an average portion size and good flavor. The lo mien are like pasta noodles but slightly thicker and have good flavor. The fried rice is just plain fried rice that has nothing on it. There meat dishes are cooked tender and all taste how they are supposed to be. The only dish I don't like is the sesame chicken because there is a tiny bit to much batter on the chicken and there are also small pieces of fried batter with no chicken. My most favorite dish they have is the kung pao chicken. The dish is mild and I wish it was spicier. The dish also has nuts and water chestnuts to give the dish a crunchy and refreshing texture from the water chestnuts. I recommend ordering the beef lo mien, kung pao chicken.

Yelp
Wow!!! This place has the yummiest food we have ever tasted in grand Praire!!! Their egg roll is off the hook, The owner was a cool individual though sadly I did not catch his name, gave us extra food from the kindness of his heart, We ordered 8 trays and it consisted of fried rice, chowmein ,kungpaw chicken ,30 egg rolls, sweet n sour chicken, soup ,broccoli beef, orange chicken, which he gave us for free, white rice and a vegetable dish. Everyone should go to this place

Kay M.

Yelp
Service was fast. I had the fried rice with chicken, the crab Rangoon and a side order of sesame chicken. The rice had a great flavor the crab Rangoon seems frozen and fried but I still liked them and the sesame chicken was tasty as well. The portions are huge. My only gripe is that the lady said I could only have one set of cutlery. It was enough to feed 3 people.

Karla C.

Yelp
The food is good, I love that they have a big selection of food. Personally I get noodles and broccoli, beef and some orange chicken. But if you're going through the drive through they let you keep the menu! The place is a bit on the smaller side but it's cozy. The service was good, they made sure we had everything and had a positive attitude! There was a small language barrier but that's okay, you could understand what was being said between both parties. I def recommend this place :))

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Tasty, quick, large portions, affordable. This is a perfect place to grab lunch during the week. I think my ticket was $10 and I got an entree, eggroll, and a drink. I had the chicken lo mein, and it was perfect. One side note, they serve the dish on a bed of rice, so you get a huge portion of noodles already and then rice mixed in with your leftovers was actually pretty good! And I was able to have lunch and my husband and I split the leftovers for dinner, so it was essentially getting 3 meals out of it! It's located in the main street part of Grand Prairie, parking in that area can be tough but they have a dedicated lot. I definitely recommend, and I will be going back for sure!

Christie P.

Yelp
This is my go-to for to-go Chinese food in Grand Prairie. Huge portions, fresh ingredients and quick service! I really like the Moo Goo and Fried Rice.

Luis R.

Yelp
The sweet and sour chicken here is amazing, always my favorite dish. I would definitely recommend this place. Staff there is always very kind, love that.

Kyra S.

Yelp
Omg this made me horribly sick to the point where I wanted to go to the hospital. I was so upset because I didn't think it looked like chicken but I thought I was Tripping. This food had me on the toilet, vomiting & sweating at the same time

Laquinta S.

Yelp
Workers were very friendly. Food was piping hot, really good and I got huge portions. I got an order of chicken fried rice and 4 egg rolls. It was enough food for my niece and I to eat for dinner. Plus, it was enough food left over for me to take to lunch for work the next day. All for $9, what a deal!

Isabella C.

Yelp
Good customer service foods ALWAYS hot and they have the best lo mein i have had always get it with a egg roll on the side ,will always be the bestt

Mac M.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised on how good this place was I've gotten really burned out on the buffet style because everything is so nasty and overcooked. It was nice to find a place that actually does fresh cooked on the spot Asian food everything tasted very crisp fresh and we're on point. Service was very friendly seemed like he knew everyone that was local that came in there I felt very at home I sat down and had an awesome meal. Rice was very good , egg rolls excellent crispy, and my meal was cooked to Perfection very pleased was a very good lunch. Don't let the outside look throw you it's a little divey looking but it's great food.

Steve A.

Yelp
Many years ago, it may have been a KFC, but for many years they have been serving out healthy portions of Chinese food, with perhaps a slight Korean kick. Good variety of food, brought out quickly and served hot. Favorites are orange chicken and Hunan beef, with plenty of vegetables. Help support the unique downtown Grand Prairie restaurants. You won't be disappointed.

Joseph C.

Yelp
This place is good I definitely recommend itThe hunan chicken is one of the best dishes there.

Carlos A.

Yelp
I have driven by this place many times during off hours and finally decided to check it out today. As a former diabetic, I have to avoid fast carbs as much as possible. The owner was very helpful and even tweaked the menu to accommodate my diet. The hot and sour soup was excellent and the Vegetable Beef was outstanding. Only complaint is that I don't live closer and have to limit my visits to days when we have to come to Grand Prairie. Glad I checked it out! Too bad Yelp insists on criticism. Nothing to report there.

Fran P.

Yelp
Always amazing, friendly people cheap prices. Quick service and a drive through! I love it

El F.

Yelp
I went here for the first time and i got crab rangoons and sesame chicken. The sesame chicken was good nice and crispy and the outside and soft on the inside; but the crab rangoon's had way to much sour cream inside which made it unpleasant. However, the service was really good.

Joseph B.

Yelp
I thought I wrote a review for this place, but I guess I forgot :-/ My brother and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and business was pretty good I guess. The downtown Grand Prairie area is kinda dead, but this place has a steady trickle of customers dining in and ordering from the drive thru. For appetizers we had the beef sticks and the fried dumplings. The beef sticks had a nice sticky caramelized glaze on'em that made'em taste sweet! The fried dumplings had a nice thick skin and I dipped it into some soy sauce. If they would have had some seasoned soy sauce it would have been all the more better, but with the regular soy sauce it was still good. For the main meal we both ordered the Ja Jang Myun. It's noodles in a black bean sauce. It's usually made with beef or pork, but their version included shrimp. Although I do like shrimp, the taste of the shrimp kinda clashed with the usual flavor of the beef/pork version that I usually get at other places. I do appreciate their twist on the noodle dish, but I think I'm gonna order it without the shrimp next time. Service is pretty quick and if you dine in, you might run into their cute kids running around playing.

Brandy L T.

Yelp
I've passed this place for years and finally decided to stop tonight. I'm glad I did! Some of the best sesame chicken, crab Rangoon and egg drop soup I've ever had! Also, very reasonably priced! I was able to get a side/half order of sesame chicken for $2.75. I didn't pay over $8 for everything I got and I was definitely full and I have soup for tomorrow. If you're in the area check it out!

Cristina S.

Yelp
It may not be fancy inside, but don't let that fool you. We are NEVER disappointed. Staff is always so nice, food is always fresh and delicious, and this is our one go-to place for Chinese in Grand Prairie.

Lucy L.

Yelp
We have been coming for years and it doesn't disappoint! Don't let the outside appearance fool you, because the service and food are always amazing!!

Lacey T.

Yelp
athe food is delicious , but its not tge biggest food place , but dos thst matter if the food is most non forgettable ?! This will be my faverote place to ho to after school to get food from now on!!

Melissa I.

Yelp
After a six hour car ride this was our dinner choice. Food is delicious. Service is great.

Regina B.

Yelp
I have driven past this place for over 10 years but today I stopped. I enjoyed the green beans with beef with the crab rangoon. I wasn't too impressed with the crab Rangoon because it was a little runny on the inside but it was okay. I just knew I'd have leftovers because they have a good size serving but no sucha thang! The beef was tender, the fried rice was good, and the green beans had a little crunch like I like 'em! For both items I paid a little over $8. I will be back.

Alicia H.

Yelp
I ordered ahead and all my food was just how I asked for it. Also the portion size is pretty good for the price. 5 stars for me!

Ethan A.

Yelp
Great Chinese food here!! The food has always been hot. The Wonton soup is out of this world. I especially like the peanut chicken or the Mongolian beef. My fav place for Chinese food in Grand Prairie so far.

Eva G.

Yelp
This is my favorite Chinese food in Grand Prairie by far. I never have to wait more than 10 minutes for my order it's very simple. Their moo goo chicken is really good and I love their beef broccoli cuz they always add extra beef..

Josh J.

Yelp
Joy Luck provided good Chinese takeout. It's not PF Chang's by any means, but when my wife and I first moved into this area we viewed Joy Luck's menu online and thought it was an old menu due to the prices being so low. It's good food that's available quickly. The workers are also very nice. The middle aged guy there, I assume is the owner, is always a hoot. We have some left over fried rice in our fridge as I type this.

Scott F.

Yelp
Consistently very good Chinese food at a great price. Nice people and fast service. Their hot and sour soup is fantastic.

Andrea M.

Yelp
the place is not fancy at all, but don't let the outside fool you; the food is so yummy! Amazing flavor, every single dish was delicious

Michele S.

Yelp
Nice, friendly service, big proportions and clean. Food is so fresh, that it had to cool off. Taste is a little above average.

Marta E.

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant for many years since right after I sell my cans at the recycling plant...It is tasty and fresh. I ordered the green bean chicken today with steamed rice instead of fried..For a mere $.95, I got some wonton soup to go with it..and they even have kool aid..I thought it was punch..I told the waitress I was raised in the 60s so I a familiar with it..Hours later I am still stuffed by this meal...

Kandy K.

Yelp
Fast Chinese food for the area. I work down the street so it's convenient . Prices are reasonable and I always order the garlic Ckn.

Harley P.

Yelp
This place is great when you're on a budget. Really cheap and good. Staff is really nice .

Debbie S.

Yelp
We love this place. We used to work nearby and ate there at least once a week. Unfortunately, we moved further away. We still drive to Joy Luck when we want Chinese food. We're headed there now. It's out of our way, but theirs is the best in town! The service is good. The employees are friendly and the food is delicious.

Duy V.

Yelp
I work in the downtown area. Joy Luck makes fresh to order Chinese that's reasonably priced and tastes great. I usually carry out but if you decide to dine in you can meet the chef and owner. He's a really friendly guy and remembers his regulars. Give this place a shot.

Charles H.

Yelp
Being that I love chinese food, this is by far the best for your money. You get your food quick and it's fresh.

Doug H.

Yelp
The food was fresh and tastes good. Friendly service. Not a fancy place but appeared clean. I would go again.

Molochio A.

Yelp
Slimy lo mein, soggy vegetables, and flavorless rice that went promptly in the trash. On the bright side, the price was very low and if you like the food, portions are generous. It's not for me though.

Dawn C.

Yelp
As far as Chinese American goes around here. This is really good and huge portions as well. Great flavor, Lots of meat. Really nice service. Bit of a drive for me in Arlington but I so far haven't been disappointed with anything I have ordered. Hope it stays this way as there arent really any exceptional Chinese places out here.

Joel L.

Yelp
Very good food fast. The soups are the best around!! The Hunan chicken and Mongolian beef are awesome. Everything I've tried so far are excellent.

Amber G.

Yelp
So disappointed. After reading reviews on a couple of different sites I decided to order food from here. Portions are small compared to many of the other Chinese restaurants I have order from below my orange chicken was cabbage to make it seem like more. The orange chicken that is normally spicy from many places is sweet and super blah. Lo mein is super gross. How this place has even half way decent reviews is beyond me.

Daniel A.

Yelp
Food was very hot. I had the won ton soup, egg roll & cashew chicken. All was very tasty!
