Came here to check it out because I love dumplings and stereotypically this food is quick, tasty, and well priced.... i litterally got none of these. I got below average tasting soup dumplings that were over $15 after tax and tip, the pork buns sucked and lacked filling. Lastly, the vegetables i ordered lacked salt! Like I realize this place is extremely close to SDSU but if you can manage it just go somewhere else like Diamond Palace... This next bit is personal,but omg, the chairs are the worse! they are hard and will be tough if you're on the wider side which i am! the service was slow when the place was half emtpy... and I'm paying as much as i would at diamond palace! like idk what in the world this place is doing,but you either need to lower the price on your steamed goods or make it taste the price in paying worth it, in addition to make it must faster to get. I shouldn't be waiting 30 minutes for soup dumplings! And for the love of god change your chairs!

So happy there is finally a decent Chinese restaurant opening up in this area!!. I’ve already been there twice. The environment is very clean and pleasant, and the staff is friendly. The food was good as well. The only tiny negative experience was that one of the hot pots we ordered was quite spicy and we couldn’t finish it, so be mindful of the spice level when ordering. It might be a good idea to double-check with the staff. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone craving good Chinese food and a nice dining experience.

I'm so excited to have a super tasty dumpling place in our neighborhood! We had Fried Buns, Shrimp and Pork Shumai, and the Cucumber salad. Everything was fresh and delicious, definitely needed a third person to help us finish but looking forward to leftovers!

Bravo. This place is affordable and the food is incredible. We got the Mongolian beef with bao tacos, insanely good. The soup dumplings were also amazing. mouth watering good. The place is clean and the service is friendly and prompt. No complaints. 5/5

I had been craving dumplings for a while now, I decided to visit Joyees for my birthday dinner, and I loved every second of it. upon arriving there's a menu outside, which i enjoy walking in and already knowing what I want. there was a few other tables busy but not too much. it seemed like there was only one server who was taking care of everyone, after we arrived it got busier too but she still managed to do everything well. the food came out with little wait, the pork potsticker were so good, along with the beef and onion steamed dumplings. they provide chilli oil, soy sauce and balsamic vinegar to make your own sauce. although I do wish there were more option as I try to stay away from soy. my wife got the roasted duck & she really liked it too. I've thought about this restaurant just about every day since going. I plan to keep coming back

The good here is amazing and affordable. The cucumber salad was delicious. We ordered a beef "sandwich", cashew chicken, soup dumplings, bao. Everything was really good. Just wish they had more ginger/flavor in the soup dumplings. I like the frozen ones at Trader Joe's better 🤷🏼‍♀️ Service was excellent and friendly. Food was very delicious. I've already been back another time. Added shumai and a sweet dumpling. Both were so good! Must try this location.

This is the best meal I have ever gotten recently... I ordered the Mongolian beef with bun and lamb hot pot, ngl, I'm with smile every bite. And the place is really comfortable, the waitress(or the manager) had a good attitude I barely write comments in google review, but it's really really good. Absolutely will come back again. I am Chinese. Trust me ;)

The food is amazing—especially the beef noodle soup, which has a fantastic flavor. Plus, it’s super close to my home!

Quality food at a great price. This isn't one of those places that makes the same run of the mill dishes you know what to expect. They do things to the next level. The Mongolian beef may have the same name as those other places but it was by far the freshest ingredients and the most flavor I've ever had. The dumplings were soft, and succulent and paired very well with their table-side soy sauce and vinegar. The char siew buns were especially good drizzled with their chili oil. Besides the food, the place is nice and new. Tables are beautiful and theirs plenty of space to fit people inside as well as outside on the patio. The staff were all very polite and did a great job making sure everyone was taken care of. If you're looking for a good new place to try, head over to Joyee's Dumpling House.

Joyee's is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots near the College Area. But I strongly recommend eating in, and not ordering your food because the quality and the amount are not the same. Joyee's is one of those neighborhood gems that you're genuinely happy to find. It is spacious with a small but mighty menu that appears very popular with college-age folks. Prices are reasonable, and you can easily get a fulling lunch or dinner at $25. Their dumplings are, of course, quite poplar. But the star for me is the spicy wontons. These are perfectly folded, generously filled and packed with flavor and a little bit of heat. I do like the other dumplings, though, and they are consistently good, whether you choose the pork and chive or juicy soup dumplings. And -- when dining in -- everything tastes incredibly fresh. Beyond the dumplings, the menu is full of standouts: hand-pulled noodles, savory fried rice and shareable small plates. In addition to the chili wontons, you cannot miss four other items in particular: the scallion pancake, beef wrap, cream cheese wontons and fried shrimp rolls. Take a friend or two and order all of these. It will make the absolutely perfect meal! Service is friendly and efficient, even when the restaurant gets busy. It's the kind of spot that works equally well for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner with friends. And they have other locations -- in Poway, Vista and near Torrey Santa Fe. But I will keep coming back to this beloved location.

My grandson wanted soup dumplings, and we were in La Mesa, so I did a Yelp search and found Joyee's, so we stopped in for a bite. Best decision we made that day. Lucky for us, people haven't found this place yet. (probably not the best deal for the owners). We walked in, 6 of us, and found a table immediately. The service was quick and very friendly. The menu is not huge, so choosing what we wanted was easy. Our orders placed, the food started coming out immediately. This was awesome, because hungry kids are cranky kids. The food just kept coming out, fresh, hot, and yummy. We loved everything we ordered, but especially good were the green beans (the sauce is so delicious), and we loved the soup dumplings. Everything else was very good. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the great food and service we received. This will definitely be a repeat restaurant for us. Unfortunately, I did not get photos of all the food we tried. As I said, hungry kids....lol The grandson had an entire order of soup dumplings to himself.

We came around 12 PM on a Saturday and it was completely empty. A few parties came in later as we were eating. Our party of 4 shared the following dishes: -Fried shrimp rolls (5/5): I enjoyed these the most! Crispy, juicy and flavorful -Shrimp fried rice (3/5): pretty bland and not enough shrimp, no wok hei taste -Pork wontons with spicy oil (3.5/5): juicy and plump but the sauce was more sweet and not spicy -Pork soup dumplings (4/5): juicy, a good amount of filling -Steamed shrimp dumplings: (4/5): pretty good, moist and plump I didn't try the braised beef noodle soup but heard it was good and came with lots of noodles. Portions are pretty good! Interior is super spacious with lots of tables and food came out pretty quickly. I wouldn't mind coming back but it's not my top choice for dumplings.

Heard they opened one closer to me so we wanted to try! Came for a Saturday lunch around noon and we were the only ones inside at first, but some more parties came in as we ate. I'm surprised it was pretty empty, there is plenty of seating. The 4 of us shared the following dishes: Fried shrimp rolls (5/5): I really liked these! A nice crunch and came with a sweet n sour sauce Shrimp fried rice (3/5): kinda flavorless and no wok hei, not that much shrimp Pork wontons with spicy oil (3/5): they were more sweet than spicy, which I didn't enjoy Pork soup dumplings (4/5): hot and juicy! the wrapper did feel a little thick though Steamed shrimp dumplings (4/5): pretty standard har gow Braised beef noodle soup: I didn't try this one, but he said it was good and there were a lot of noodles Food came out pretty quickly and prices were decent. I wouldn't mind coming back if I was in the area but there are better options

I joined the celebration of this new Chinese restaurant in the College Area/ Rolando neighborhoods. Congrats! I was able to meet the owners, staff and a few folks from the Business District. I explored how lovely the restaurant is setup and decorated. I enjoyed their gracious bites so much that I decided to dine in to eat more fresh delicious authentic food. What a fun well-organized grand opening!! If you didn't know, the Joyee Dumpling House specializes in hand-made savory meat-filled dumplings and noodle dishes. There's something for everyone. I highly recommend this Chinese restaurant to the Yelp Community.

Finally we are getting some Taiwanese food down south! I wanted so badly for this place to be good and it didn't disappoint. Is it in the top tier of Taiwanese food no, but it will definitely satisfy the craving! Beef and onion dumplings: 7.8/10 The wrapper was nice and chewy and there was a lot of meat in the filling. Fried Pork Buns: 6.1/10 The bread to meat ratio was just off. Too much bread and not enough meat filling. I felt like I was eating mostly bread. The inside filling was flavorful, I just wish there was more of it. Spicy wontons: 7.2/10 Just pork filling with no shrimp and not much other flavor. The vinegar, chili oil, garlic and scallion toppings did a lot of the heavy lifting. They don't any sesame oil or peanuts on the wontons so if you are looking for that nuttiness you won't find it here. Smoked Salt Duck: 9.1/10 This was the star of the show!!! The breast was perfectly moist yet tender and the dark meat had some wonderfully crispy bits, especially the wing! It was wonderfully savory without the gamey duck flavor with a hint of smokiness. It was paired with a classic plum sauce to balance the savoriness. This was honestly one of the best versions of this dish I've ever had. In summary: I'll be back to try the duck!

Got a few items to go (delivery) and all were pretty good. The wontons in spicy sauce had great flavor. Came with 12 pieces. The menu doesn't say what's in them but it was just meat so my guess is pork. It was tasty but could've used more filling. Would get again. The hot and sour soup was also pretty good. Only comes in a large size and would've liked to order a cup but not mad at having leftovers. The egg rolls resembled frozen food isle egg rolls. For the $5 price still worth it but I didn't receive any sweet and sour sauce for it. There was also a piece of rice fried onto a piece so unsure about cleanliness. I've never had custard buns so wasn't sure what to expect. I liked the taste but I think the custard looked broken. Not sure if it was supposed to be like that. Overall enjoyed it and will try again.

An amazing new addition to the SDSU area for students and also dumpling lovers alike! - PARKING - Small lot for the businesses in this strip mall, but there's also street parking available! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Nice big windows that let natural sunlight in! A variety of seating options, from small parties of 2 to bigger ones to 6-8. Feels very spacious inside, not stuffy at all. Staff is attentive and very welcoming! Once we ordered, it took around 10 minutes to get our first item, but everything slowly came out after that as they were ready. - FOOD - Cucumber Salad ($8.99): Super refreshing, nice and bright flavor to cleanse the palate. Spicy Wontons ($10.99): Super plump wontons with delicious filling inside, and the spicy sauce was tasty! Shrimp and Pork Dumplings ($13.99): Again, their dumplings are all so well filled and made, the flavor of the filling was very good, but dipped in the spicy wonton sauce, or your own handmade sauce is so good! Beef Hot Pot ($19.99): Portion size could probably feed 2-3 easily! You could also share with a larger group to enjoy a taste of hot pot and other entrees. Loved that this had a ton of ingredients inside, from proteins to veggies and more. Pork Soup Dumplings (13.99): The soup was tasty, but I do wish there was a bit more soup inside. It looked like a bunch of them got popped during cooking, so all the soup leaked out already. Rice Noodle with Beef ($13.99): Nice 'wok-hei' or stir-fried flavoring. The noodles have a nice slight char to them, but I did wish there was more savoryness to the dish. Tastes great with chili oil! Walnut Shrimp ($18.99): The breading on the shrimp is more like tempura batter, as the outside is a smooth coating. Lots of yummy sugared walnuts and its all tossed in that delicious cream sauce. No broccoli included though, although its shown on the menu. - OVERALL - A great spot for group dinners or if you're just craving some delicious dumplings! I would highly recommend trying out the hot pot as well if you have a group to share it with!

We came here around 830 pm thinking it closes at 10 pm. We were wrong, they closed the kitchen early because it was a slow day. We got lucky and were able to order to-go. We got the pork soup dumplings, popcorn chicken, and rice noodle with beef to-go. The soup dumplings had some good flavor but had a lot of dough. The popcorn chicken was good. The noodles were good also. The beef was not overcooked and was easy to chew. Saw a lot of items I would like to try the next time I come here. The place had plenty of seating inside and also had some seating outside. It was clean inside and staff was accommodating.

Was excited to try this new Taiwanese spot in the college area. Came in around 7pm on a Monday night - only a few tables full. I was hoping that was because of the time of evening, and not because the food wasn't great. There are only a few workers, so the service was pretty slow. We ordered spicy wontons, XLB (soup dumplings), rice noodle with beef and green onion pancakes to share. - rice noodle had very little taste. We had to amplify the little flavor with the soy sauce and chili oil crunch on the table - spicy wontons weren't v flavorful either, the dumpling wrapper to meat ratio was way off - the XLB weren't super flavorful either & the dough was thicker than XLBs we were used to - the green onion pancakes were probably the best thing from what we ordered. Really crispy; but would've loved a bit more of a chew on it Also, the price you pay is a little steep. All in all, the bill for these 4 items were over $50? Really wanted to like it, but unfortunately, I don't think we will be returning.

I just went here with a friend just to try their food and we're really not impressed, to be honest. Nothing's special with their orange chicken and dumplings, but it still tastes okay. Service is fast as well since there's not a lot of people eating there when we went. I'd say we didn't like the vibe since they were playing a little bit loud rock/hiphop music.

Everything was amazingly good. We enjoyed our dine in experience maybe because it was slow and no one was there but us.

So excited for some delicious authentic Taiwanese food in College Area, and so reasonably priced! We attended their grand opening tonight and sampled and enjoyed: -bbq pork bun (char siu bao) - my kids and I were huge fans! -fried shrimp roll (would order next time!) -cucumber salad -kung pao chicken (on the sweet side) -fried scallion pancake fried coconut ball (maybe a little too gooey) We ordered for dinner: -braised beef noodle soup (slightly bland but otherwise delish) -pork shumai (I enjoyed it but my shumai-loving daughter said there were too many mushrooms) -soup dumplings (delish) -beef roll (perfect!!!) Will definitely be returning often!

Came here for dinner with a couple of friends and was pleasantly surprised. This corner used to be Pesto Italian, with same layout but with a more modern and airy feel. We ordered a few appetizers/small dishes and two main. I have to tell you that I wasn't expecting much but everything we had was delicious. The cucumber salad and green beans were a hit and my favorite was the Mongolian Beef served with buns. The lamb hot pot was a little spicier than I could handle but my friend loved it cause she loves heat. Overall we had a great experience and the staff was really nice and attentive. Great addition to this area.

2nd time coming and it's already a favorite, we craved it from the first time we tried it!! The service is 100/10, I didn't see any eggs in my hot pot and they ended up giving us a bowl of eggs! The ambiance is pretty and modern and super clean! They offer so much! And pretty affordable

Food is worth the price for group eat-out! Menu might not be as various as the usual Chinese buffets but more on family-dinner style but student-friendly, since the serving size is quite ample for a single serving (RECOMMENDED GROUP EAT-OUT FOR SERVING SIZE WORTHY) ! Service is good considering it is newly opened and only had one server/cashier! Ambience is good enough for a group eat-out as it is pretty comfortable and cozy!

Wow! What a joy to find this place! It was clean inside and the staff were great. They were fast and friendly. The dumplings were absolutely amazing! I loved the buns as well, soft and pillowy. I can't wait to come back and try their hotpot and more dumplings. Yum!!

I ordered the bbq pork buns and the mapo tofu. The map tofu was delicious and savory, but was lacking the spiciness and the minced pork. The bbq pork buns were flavorful and the breading was soft and chewy. I would come back here to try the other food, but I don't think the mapo tofu was worthwhile.

I ordered from Joyee on UberEats for pickup because they were running a promo I couldn't skip, plus I'd been eyeing the restaurant waiting for it to open so it was the perfect opportunity! I placed my order at roughly 8pm and started working so I totally forgot about it! I got a call at around 8:50pm (they closed at 8:30) from the store and quickly rushed over and apologized profusely (I'd forget my own head if it wasn't attached to me sometimes!) The employee was so sweet about it and even asked me if I needed any extra sauces or anything. The food is also so yum! I ordered the Mapo Tofu and Wontons w/ Spicy Oil and will definitely be back based on not only the food but the super friendly service as well! So glad to have Joyee in the area :)

The service was great and the food I ordered came rather quickly, which surprised me. The ambiance and decor of this restaurant was aesthetic and pleasing. I ordered the pork belly with rice, which I give a 8/10. It wasn't salty, and the dish gave a lot of meat than other places. The downside however was that the rice was soggy because of the amount of oil or chili oil that was added. The star of my meal was the pork chive dumplings and the fried pork buns. They were delectable. The pork chive dumplings were packed with flavor despite its bland look. The fried pork bun, though with a small filling, you could taste everything in one bite. It was crisp, savory, sweet, and good. However, i wish there were a better ratio between the meat and bun. I rate the pork chive dumplings a 9/10 with the fried pork buns a 6.7/10. However, with this noodle dish I got, the dandan noodles were rather upsetting because it lacked flavor from the lack of sauce among other things. I give that a 5/10. Overall the food was great as well as the service.

Fairly good Taiwanese food. The portion size is good and the price is reasonable. I don't know too many similar restaurants nearby other than Tea Station that was in the same plaza which is replaced by BBQ Chicken. My top picks from here is the Dan-Dan Noodles and the Popcorn Chicken. The beef noodle soup here is not my favorite as the broth wasn't as special and the beef was not tender.

I like the patio with sunny and food Menu is little different than other locations but still have the soup dumplings and they add on little shabu hotpot with individual pots that's awesome Definitely I gonna back with my friends Btw I love their tables

Typical hotpot, nothing special about this place. Not worth going out of your way. WARNING no ac or too cheap to have it on. It was 85 degree today. They only have two tower fan on. Luckily, I have two portable fans to help with the discomfort.

This Joyee's location just opened in the area. We decided to try it out, customer service was great and the restaurant is very cute. We got some drinks (milk tea and passion fruit tea) and appetizers (cream cheese wontons and chicken wings). Everything was delicious until we got the soup dumplings. Each dumpling had a hole in it where the soup had drained out of it so it was no longer a soup dumpling. To me it seemed that they over steamed them which caused the tear in each dumpling. It made for an underwhelming experience. I don't think I will be back just for that reason.

This relatively new location was a big disappointment. Won Ton soup was served after two entrees, without bowls or spoons. Broth was spicy instead of typical chicken or other meat broth. Walnut shrimp was pictured sauteed on broccoli but served on thin layer of shredded cabbage and so heavily breaded it was unrecognizable as shrimp. Broccoli Beef was least worst of three dishes but marginal with little sauce.

This dumpling house is new and I guess people haven't found out about it yet. My husband and I came in and there was nobody else there! I usually don't write reviews but want other people to support this place so we can eat here again!

Maybe not ordering the scallion noodle 葱油面 which is far from what is expected from fhe Shanghai style

Shrimp and pork shumai were succulent and delicious. Coarsely ground pork and small whole shrimp, lightly seasoned within a tender thin dumpling wrapper. Mapo tofu also receives high marks although I was not impressed with the finely ground pork I requested as an add-in. Next time I'll skip it. Love the umami kick of the whole black beans tho. String beans with garlic Wes's grease bomb!! I can only think that they dropped the beans in the deep fat fryer to blister them. Very little garlic flavor or seasoning. All in all hit or miss; find the right dishes for you and you'll have a great meal.

i really love the food here. but a week ago the customer service was horrific!! new cashier who doesn't speak english and messed up order!! we said we will eat on patio. after a long wait-we finally received our order in 'carry out' boxes!! when asked for dishes and silverware: the now cold entries were dumped onto cold plates!! we started to eat. i asked for hoisin/plume sauce (and had received it in the past). i waited and waited.... finally i got up and asked again. a young asian man-child tall wearing clear glasses frames comes out. i asked again for the sauce and he began to yell. i am cooking here now, ask the cashier. well, that hadn't worked from the start. i went back opened ,the drapes to their kitchen- and sitting down was the older cook and this man-child (no name tags!!) "you can't be back here" i wasn't in there!!) this man-child begins to raise his voice and yells at me to 'get out' i said in the time you were sitting down you could have gotten the sauce and all would have been groovy. but no!! he goes on to say he is cooking and can't get the sauce. !!!!! wth!?!? he begins to push me out- yes, with his hand... 'get out get out and don't come back!! temper temper. i requested a refund. well, well and well. he was able to come out from behind to process the refund and, with a slap to the table, threw the voided receipts on the table!! whoah!! the following morning i tried to contact the 'owner', joyee. to no avail....i've tried calling almost everyday to speak with her. apparently the 'owner' just doesn't care about cold sticky orange chicken, cold dumplings and horrific service from one staff member. shame. shame. shame on you!!!!

Dumplings and buns tasted very good, place was clean and had cozy vibes. Server was attentive.

Giving three stars as they didn't have ginger for the dumplings and the dumpling wrappers were so thick, there wasn't much filling nor soup. Totally disappointing for a dumpling house. Also ordered the popcorn chicken and that was okay, too salty for my taste. On the plus side, their individual hot pot was amazing with mala flavoring.

I tried Joyee's on El Cajon Blvd. Yesterday I ordered the won ton soup and the pork belly. It went right into the trash the pork belly was more FAT than meat, the rice was oily. The Won Ton Soup was horrible the won tons had a spec of meat in them, was all doughy and I have never in my 58 years have I had sliced tomatoes in won ton soup. I will not return! I do not recommend this place at ALL!! Was horrible food!!

The dry hot pot had more in it than I expected. There's not a lot of dry hot pot in San Diego. Nice to have one in the area. Not as hot as how I'm used to but still taste good. You get a little bit of everything. I got the lamb. Next time I'll get the beef hoping some tendons appear in it

First time at Joyee's Dumpling House with family and we were seriously impressed! We ordered the fried buns, braised beef noodle soup, pork & shrimp siu mai, and the wontons in hot and spicy oil each dish had its own "wow" moment. The flavors were bold and comforting, and the portions were perfect for sharing. Warm service and cozy vibes made it a great family experience. Definitely coming back!

our food was excellent!! my daughter is a sdsu student and this may be her new favorite spot.

I went last week wonton were thick wrapper with a little jibblet of meat. Would not recommend going till they get there menu right hopefully.

We had our order delivered. It was on-time. I recommend the walnut shrimp, orange chicken and pot stickers

As always, Joyee does not not disappoint!!! This new location is just as good as the locations in North SD county! The XiaoLongBao (soup dumplings) are amazing as well as all the other food we got: chicken karaage ("popcorn chicken"), Beef and Rice noodles, Pork and Onion buns, and Onion pancakes!!! Our party of two came hungry and are leaving full with tons of leftovers staff are very attentive and the food came out hot and fast!
