14 Best Broward County Restaurants That Make Us Want To Move - Miami - The Infatuation

"Unlike Miami's more casual Trinidadian options, Joy’s is a party. Even though it looks a little like an office building, the bar gets crowded at 4:35pm on a Sunday and the Caribbean soundtrack is always turned way up. You’re coming to this Lauderhill classic to wipe your plate clean with Joy’s incredibly tender, still-warm-from-the-flat-top buss up shut. Focus on the roti options, but also start with some well-seasoned doubles. Protein options include curry chicken, goat, duck, shrimp, conch, oxtail, and more. It's all served with a side of curry aloo and enough roti to ensure you’ll get to wipe every last molecule from your plate. Leave with a pint of Joy’s peanut ice cream." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Where Shenseea Goes For Caribbean Food, Wings & Peri Peri Chicken

"My assistant recommended this place to me. I was coming from the airport and he was like, 'We should stop and get some doubles.' I said, 'Doubles outside of Trinidad? I've never had doubles outside of Trinidad.' I just don't play them games. I try to wait until I travel to Trinidad to get them doubles because that's where it's most authentic. But he was like, 'No, it's really good. You should try it.' He went inside, got the food for me, and it took him 40 minutes before he came back out. He gave me the doubles and it tasted just like what we had in Trinidad. Listen: it was so good. And now I understand. I ordered six for me and my family. I had four. I was like, 'You know what, you guys are gonna have to make a trip. I'm sorry: I bought it." - brennan carley

Google
Outstanding food each and every time I come here, from my childhood days when my family and I visited from New York, to now living in the Orlando area and making the drive a few times a year just for Joy's. Pholourie was hot and fresh with a juicy sour to cool it down perfectly and spice it right back up after a few bites. Doubles were absolutely delicious; the perfect blend of appetizing, a flare of spices, which will undoubtedly leave you craving for more. The bake & shark was so fresh and tasty with all the ingredients combined, I am already planning my next trip down to South Florida for this amazing food. 10/10 recommend

Every dish was deliciously fresh! The goat double was seasoned to perfection, and the oxtail was tender and enjoyable. Will definitely return for a second round. Simply delish!

Google
So Delicious with large portions! Highly recommended for a delicious and satisfying meal! We stopped for breakfast and it was a great choice. The space is open with plenty of seating. The parking is also plentiful. Service was good and friendly. All the food was cooked and spiced up well. Their roti is soft and fresh. The fresh juices are refreshing! We tried the Mauby (from buckthorn tree bark) and the mango passion juices. We plan to definitely return here!

1⭐️ DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE! I recently visited Joy Roti Delight for dine-in, and unfortunately, the service was subpar. The staff's communication and gestures were completely off-putting. They seemed impolite and unfriendly, which made the entire experience frustrating. Not impressed at all. Maybe they need to work on their customer service skills.

I recently visited Joy's Roti Shop in Lauderhill and ordered the chicken with paratha. The taste was quite good, but the curry was a bit heavy on the oil, which made it slightly overwhelming. The shop wasn't very busy when I went, so the service was quick, and I appreciated the efficiency. ReShma, the cashier, was very friendly and welcoming, which added a nice personal touch to the experience. What stood out to me was the variety of Trini products available, including snacks, hot sauce, and even soursop ice cream. It’s a nice touch for anyone looking to grab a taste of Trinidad beyond the main menu items. Overall, it’s a good spot for flavorful food and a small taste of home.

Google
Delicious food and excellent customer service! You can taste the quality ingredients that they are using plus the ambiance on the inside really takes you to Trinidad! I highly recommend this restaurant and will be back!

Yelp
True Caribbean bar vibe with a live Dj blasting all the dope songs. There were lots of locals (I'm in Fort Lauderdale for the weekend) at this place. It felt like a day party. The staff provided a warm welcome and responsiveness to the customers. The food was prepared quickly and was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend Joy's.

Yelp
I recently visited Joy's Roti Delight located in Fort Lauderdale and had a wonderful experience with their paratha and curry shrimp with potatoes. It was beautifully made--light and soft, which made it perfect for dipping it in my curry. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Oh the spices that made each bite burst with flavor. You can't help but to love it. Love me some trini food-- thanks to my Trinidadian hubby! The addition of tender potatoes brought a comforting heartiness to the dish, balancing the spices beautifully. I also bought a shandy in the flavor of lime and I absolutely loved it. I always get the sorrel one which is the original but this time I wanted a change and I wasn't disappointed! The restaurant gives a back at home in the island feel. Very chill while Caribbean music was playing. Almost didn't want to leave. The staff was friendly which added to the overall enjoyment. For anyone craving authentic Caribbean cuisine, Joy's Roti Delight is definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Rating for food Joys is truly a delight. We came in on Carnival Sunday to get some food and ended up spending 5hrs just eating vibing listening to music. We had the chicken roti, shrimp roti, oxtail and also tried the pepper shrimp. Everything was delicious. I was a little disappointed in the pepper shrimp. Just not what I expected but overall food was delicious and vibe was nice

Yelp
You just have to come for yourself. Good food. Relaxing atmosphere. Excellent service. I'm hooked!

Yelp
This place is very clean and I Iove the music. It was definitely going 90s vibes. The stuff as really nice and the guy that took my order, explained everything to the tea. He even recommended a few of his favorites as meal options.the curry goat was 10/10. And that's saying a lot because I don't like goat. I already told my husband about this pace. And let's just say we both will be coming back very soon.

Yelp
On point, you won't regret your purchase. My favorite is the shrimp roti and pholourie.
google avatar

Krishna P.

Yelp
I ordered Goat roti for take out. The service was super slow. The roti was greasy. Not spicy and not impressed. The place is good to come chill with a few beers but not the best if you are coming just for dining. Plenty of parking next to the restaurant.

Yelp
I recently ordered ahead 12 pieces of fried chicken from Joys Roti Delight, and my experience was mostly positive. The chicken was ready upon my arrival, and it was fresh and delicious. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of room for dining in and offers a great selection of Caribbean items on the menu. The staff were pleasant and friendly, making the overall experience enjoyable. However, one downside was encountering two random people trying to sell items. One was in the lobby trying to sell jewelry, and the other approached me as I was leaving. This was a bit off-putting and detracted from the otherwise pleasant experience. Despite this, the quality of the food, the considerate pricing, and the friendly staff make Joys Roti Delight a place worth visiting. I would recommend dining here if the issue with unsolicited sellers could be addressed.

Yelp
We walked in and told the girl at the counter that it was our first time trying Trini food and she had no reaction and didn't even help us with the menu. Me doing my own research and asking friends before going there is what helped us out. We ordered doubles, wontons and pholourie. EVERYTHING WAS FLAVORLESS AND STRAIGHT UP NASTY!! The pepper hot sauce is what saved the doubles..... I'm sorry but I hope all trini food don't taste like this. I was told to try a place called Singhs. Hopefully it's 100 percent better than this place!!!!!

Yelp
A Decade of Deliciousness: A Loyal Customer's Rave I've been hooked on Joy's for over 10 years, and their incredible food and electric atmosphere keep me coming back for more! While I've noticed subtle changes in the cooking team over the years, the consistency of their dishes remains unparalleled. The vibe is always lively, especially during carnival season - no matter where the festivities are held, joy's is the place to be! Yes, there may be a wait, but trust me, it's well worth it. This spot is a must-visit whenever I'm in the area. The combination of mouthwatering cuisine and infectious energy makes it a true gem. If you haven't already, join the loyal fan base and experience it for yourself! 5-Star Favorite! Decade-Long Devotee! #LoyalCustomer #FavoriteSpot #CarnivalVibes

Yelp
Joys roti was amazing !!! From food to service to freshness !! I would definitely come back to try more menu items. My boyfriend got the curry conch roti which he loved . The doubles were fresh and delicious and the perfect appetizer and only $3. My rum punch was good and strong and my snapper was fried perfection and fresh ! The service was A1 which makes you want to come back even more! Definitely a gem

Yelp
A small piece of Trinidad in Florida! I really enjoyed the food at Joy's, it took me back home for a second. The curry was really good, I should've asked for a bit more pepper, it was a little mild to me. But I tried the curry goat, added pumpkin and a side of shrimp. All of it was delicious! The buss up shot was nice and soft. The pholourie was superrrr big. The biggest I've ever seen. But the tamarind sauce was delicious and paired perfectly with it. The doubles was the only thing that was just alright to me. The flavors lacked here a bit. But for a roti shop, Joy's was delicious! I will be back.

Yelp
This is our second time here. We went to Trinidad and Tobago this summer, and we were yearning for the good food we ate there. Look no further! JOY'S has it all! Our favorites is IN ORDER: 1. Bake and shark 2. Curry Goat 3. Aloo Pie Everything was amazing, but these were showstoppers! We drove an hour to come here and we will do it again. The only reason we gave 4/5 was service. The waitress was not friendly at all and rarely came back to check on us. I had to go find my own fork.

Kazem R.

Yelp
Awesome Trinidadian spot! Flavorful doubles, juicy jerk chicken, and great vibes. A must-try

Yelp
This was my second time coming here and every time I visit the Florida area I will make sure to visit this restaurant. The food has so much flavor. The music is always good. Staff is nice and the drinks are strong lol. It is truly the real Caribbean feel. Definitely give this restaurant to try!!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice and comfortable environment with amazing food. If you love roti, this place serve the best roti in Fort Lauderdale. They have other options on the menu and you can choose how you want your food, either with rice or peas, roti etc. the staff is very friendly and helpful to first time visitors and they make good recommendations far as drinks too. If you love Caribbean and culture music you will love it here. On the weekends they have live DJ and a nice crowd to enjoy. If you never had roti or looking for some good roti try Joys.
google avatar

Nina S.

Yelp
This food is super tasty. Especially the shrimp dumplings and the double - not pictured because we ate them too fast. Not a big fan of the oxtail - a little dry but all other flavors super lovely. The line was really long and they were slow so don't go super hungry. They have a bar in the back for bands to play. PS The prices are really good.
google avatar

Yelp
These pictures do not do justice...BEST TRINIDAD FOOD EVER!!!! The restaurant itself gives you such a homey feeling. The location is near a plaza and plenty of parking space. Service - quick, and helpful. If you don't know what to order definitely take their suggestions. Food - 11/10. I ordered the doubles which was a roti with channa/chickpea gravy. It had a peppery taste. For the main course i got the dhalpuri roti and vegetables (pumpkin gravy, potato gravy and chickpea gravy). They each have a different taste of curry. If you want to spice it up, they give you this pepper sauce and also a sweet brown sauce. Whenever i come to Fort Lauderdale this is a MUST GO stop! I will be returning many more times in the future.

Yelp
The food is really good the roti and the curry was really good like feel like home the the service is really good very friendly the ambience is really cool the got good vibes music

Yelp
Living in Phoenix I never get a chance to eat good Caribbean food & it makes me sad. In Fort Lauderdale for a few days & was craving a roti. We weren't in the mood to drive so we decided to get Uber eats. Joy's Roti was there & had great reviews so we decided to give it a try. I had to calm the restaurant to ask about what their vegetable roti consisted of because there was no information on Uber. I like my veggie roti with pumpkin, spinach, potato & channa but they only have spinach on certain days. I ordered a veggie roti with pepper on the side. It was so good but no pepper inside or on the side. The pepper would have made it perfect. My boyfriend tried the goat roti. He's never had goat or roti before but he thoroughly enjoyed it. Like me he was disappointed in the lack of pepper inside or on the side. Overall good food, I would definitely comeback to try other things on the menu.
google avatar

Jonathan K.

Yelp
Marlene was terrific, she explained everything to us, very patient. We tried almost everything, not a bad thing on the menu. Definitely a must try.
google avatar

Yelp
Woah! This, was, authentic. When you walk in you can see the Caribbean influences everywhere - from the street performer decorations to the lively bar on a Monday night, the complete restaurant was true to its name and filled with JOY. Ronaldo helped us learn the difference between the thicker dhalpourie roti and the thinner paratha roti and we ordered the latter with the chicken and shrimp curry. The potatoes, pumpkin, and chickpeas were top notch along with the chicken and shrimp and we were eating the roti even past being full. We also had an order of the doubles (Trinidad street food of fried flatbread and spicy chickpeas) which I would highly recommend you try. We sat down at 6, and by the time we were finishing a little past 7 the restaurant suddenly started a weekly karaoke Monday and we witnessed some of the most entertaining karaoke I have seen in some time. No where else will you see Rolly Polly breaking it down with our server Ronaldo followed up by Big Neal singing an Indian song very passionately. A fun food adventure had me and my friend smiling ear to ear for almost our entire visit and I'm sure we'll be remembering this one for a long time. RIP to Mr. George - you're a real one for this place

Yelp
If there has to be a highlight to my trip, this was it. My dad got a taste of home, I got childhood flashbacks, and we all had good food. We started with doubles which were amazing. My stepmom has hers with chicken, but the plain was just perfect. We then ordered our roti, but got our with the skins on the side. This allowed us to eat with our hands and make each bite the way we want it. I went with oxtail, my dad had veggie, and my stepmom has the curry goat. All I can say is we cleaned the plates. The hot sauce wasn't too spicy so I was able to enjoy some. The food was so good that we got some too go and planned to come back before we left. You must try this spot out.

Yelp
It's had to find a good Roti shop, but Joy's roti is a good spot to eat and enjoy. This was my first time going their, customer service was pleasant you are greeted as you walk in. No long wait for you food and it's not cold like some places I have had, it's hot and nice. The ambiance in their looks like a place you can come with your family and enjoy a nice good dinner. People were in their no loud noises just a nice family place to come.

Raj B.

Yelp
Really good doubles and aloo pie. Very tasty with very flavorful sauces. This is my first time visiting Joy's at their new location. I really like the layout and the space. Best part is the music is centered around the bar area so you can have conversations without shouting at each other. Gripe - unreasonable surcharge for credit cards. This is unacceptable especially with payments processors charging way less than that. Plus the global trend is going cashless. Small businesses can do better than adding this unreasonable charge which just serves to minimize the experience.
google avatar

Alexandra J.

Yelp
Joy's, a Trinidadian gem, has become my ultimate spot for satisfying Trini's food cravings. Despite an average ambiance, the quick service ensures a hassle-free experience. The show's star is undeniably the famed Trini Doubles - a burst of flavors that never fails to impress. Joy's also surprises with excellent Chinese dishes. While the setting may not stand out, the mouthwatering food makes each visit a joyous and fulfilling experience.
google avatar

Yelp
I visited for lunch the day after Christmas and it's a vibe. I'd been once before years ago and I forgot how delicious the roti was. Our server was Marlene, she was super nice and informative. She was very sensitive to our needs anytime we looked at her she would come over. The stew chicken was so soft, the pumpkin had some sweetness to it and the squash was fresh. It felt like a healthy meal. The curry chicken wrap was a little difficult to bite into because it was such a huge portion but it was totally worth the price and incredibly flavorful. I adore their holiday decorations! I will be returning as soon as possible and I highly recommend checking this place out. It definitely lives up to the hype!
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
Love my Trini food! I always want to come here when I get the opportunity. My go to order is a chicken roti (bone in) that is my favorite. I've tried the dinners to and they were good. Definitely authentic Trinidad cuisine and feelings of home.
google avatar

Dosha B.

Yelp
Joy's Roti Delight has consistently been a cherished restaurant for me in South Florida. If you're looking to enjoy some really tasty food and good vibes from the sweet islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Joy's is highly recommended. From the food, to the service and ambiance. The environment is very lively with good vibes! Today I had the Chinese style chicken, with shrimp, fried rice and lo mien. For dessert I had their currant roll, pone and chocolate fudge. Joy's never disappoints!
google avatar

Isabella C.

Yelp
Lovely place.... marlene was our server! She was very attentive and nice. The food was amazing! It came out in a timely manor and was a significant amount of food for the cost. Highly recommended
google avatar

Keisha M.

Yelp
I've been going to joys since the lauderhill mall location over 20 years ago and they never miss so time has past and a lot of places lost their spunk. But guess what? They have not. The doubles were a meal in its own. It took me back to Trinidad and I never been there. lol.
google avatar

Thomas P.

Yelp
Amazing food and large portions for the price! The roti is soft and layered to perfection. My whole family overate and went back for leftovers the next day after getting take out.
google avatar

Judy N.

Yelp
Ordered doubles and got one big thick barra and lots of channa. No taste dry and I never saw a doubles made with one

Yelp
Server Marlene was very great and delightful would definitely be going back there again

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! A dear good friend of mine was in town & she's Trini born & raised but also 1/2 Chinese. This place was on my list to go & check out & I took the opportunity to go with her! Food is great & server was friendly shes from Jamaica. I didn't take pictures for yes doesn't doesn't do justice but I did take a video of her having her curry goat & I had the curry shrimp. We also had the 'doubles' YUM! For dessert she had the soursap ice cream & I had the rum raisin! Omg I wanted to take a large one home! Will definitely coming back!! Ps-they were playing some R&B old school jams which took us back, "what a great feeling". Thank you!

Yelp
Chicken Curry Roti with Peanut Punch... drool During a visit to Florida, my girlfriend gave me the insiders foodie tour of Caribbean cuisine. This Trinidad special was so good after a day of sun and sand! Walking into the restaurant, it gave off divey diner with a hopping bar scene. Definitely a place where most of the patrons are regulars. I heard a lot of people being greeted by name as they walked in. Big points for that! I would definitely come here again. Great food and friendly service.
google avatar

Maurice G.

Yelp
I was is in the mood for a hearty chicken roti and Joy's absolutely answered that craving. Impossible to eat it neatly so dive in and savor. It was spilling with flavor and authentic Trini spices to perfection. The mango passion drink was a superb complement. Enjoy this local favorite the next chance you get! I sure will be back.
google avatar

Saadia P.

Yelp
I drive all the way from Naples, Florida, the West Coast of Florida on the other side of the state to come and get my TRINI FIX!!! and it's worth every mile to come and get my roti my doubles, my curry chicken and so much more!!!

Clarisa R.

Yelp
10/10 food was delicious. I was recommended to order and pick up to go for the wait time and the. I arrived, the food was ready and still hot by the time I got home. Really good trini food
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
First time trying food from Trinidad and it was delicious! I got the white rice with boneless curry chicken. It came with potatoes and pumpkin. I loved the pumpkin in the curry with the white rice. Got this via Uber Eats so didn't have the chance to visit the location in person yet. I would want to try the other menu items like the roti and the curry shrimp next!

Monica C.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, and our server Marlene was spot on. We ordered doubles and curry chicken, curried goat...yummy!
google avatar

Cleopatra W.

Yelp
I love the warm island vibe at this Trinidadian restaurant. It's been a staple in the community for years and the food is delicious Large space with inside and outside seating. Rental space is available for parties. Caribbean, soca, Calypso and afro beats are played daily over the speakers. I had curry boneless chicken and paratha Roti with pumpkin and potatoes. Everything tasted great!
google avatar

Chanel F.

Yelp
The place is pretty big on inside, I seen lots of tables and a full bar in the back. The customer service is a little nonexistent. Could be just my experience though. I have been here twice, both Togo orders. The first time I waited in the car so I didn't have a full experience just the food. And the second time I went in myself. I enjoyed the shrimp wontons so much the first time that I was like "I got some time to kill let me get some." I remember the first time being able to taste and see shrimp. On this go around however I'm not sure what was in the middle. While it still taste good I can't say for sure that I bit into one single piece of shrimp. Also the got to try the curry shrimp roti which I never had anything like it before it was super flavorful and delicious.
google avatar

Serena S.

Yelp
5/5 every time! I absolutely cannot get over how much I love the curry shrimp with pumpkin and paratha roti. I have come at least 5 times now, and it just keeps getting better.
google avatar

Reynold G.

Yelp
On a Sunday afternoon I stopped by and ordered a paratha and chicken and a dhalpurie and duck, it's long drive back to Wellington PBC like an hour drive. Later when I got home at Wellington and ready to eat my trini food, it was incorrect, they gave me 2 paratha instead. No dhalpurie. I'm I supposed to open up everything and check it before I leave ? All hot and wrapped? I immediately called them for a refund, the person answering the phone said I'd have to be there in person to rectify this somehow. I explained to them im in pbc and I don't go that way often. They still refused to do anything. I'd say their service is not so good.
google avatar

Nick J.

Yelp
I've been coming here as long as I've lived in Fort Lauderdale (10+ years). A little secret my mother (who's Trinidadian) told me since I was a kid: "...yuh can't just eat anyone and everyone's curry". I don't have that problem here at Joy's. The food is flavorful, allows me to introduce Caribbean foods to my wife and kids, and if I'm in a trini-Chinese food mood, I can get that too. They have really revamped the space and it's nice. It's probably one of the few places I may have to wait to get my order, and I don't even care. You can go sit at the back bar and "lime" with folks who you never met before over a Carib beer (I'm not a Stag guy) while watching sports, and listening to Soca the entire time. Definite must go-to if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Joys food is trash and over priced n overrated also waiting time is forever to get your food

Yelp
Marlene provided with excellent service and advice. Our food was delicious. We're already looking forward to coming back!
