A Culinary Journey Worth Every Mile
When you’re searching for the best authentic West Indian food from back home in Trinidad right here in South Florida, look no further than Joy’s.
Today, I decided to revisit my roots and made the one-hour drive to Joy’s — and it was worth every mile and every minute of the wait. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of spices transported me straight back home. And one of the best parts of waiting for my order? Enjoying an ice-cold Carib — that unmistakable taste of Trinidad that set the perfect tone for the meal to come.
The doubles were soft and perfectly spiced, the aloo pie crisp on the outside and pillowy within, and the curry chicken, beef, and goat all showcased layers of rich, slow-cooked flavor that only come from true mastery of the craft. The variety of roti was exceptional — each one fresh, tender, and the ideal pairing for those deeply flavorful curries.
And then there was the Pholourie, golden and airy, served with that tangy-sweet tamarind sauce that captures the essence of island comfort. The surprise standout? The beef-stuffed doubles — a creative twist that was simply phenomenal.
Joy’s isn’t just serving food; they’re serving tradition, nostalgia, and heart on every plate. If you’re craving a true taste of Trinidad, this is the spot that brings you right back home.
