The Best Ice Cream in Massachusetts | Eater Boston

"Jamaica Plain’s famous ice cream chain was “accidentally” founded by a 26-year-old in 1981; owner Vince Petryk fell into ice cream-making by working as an ice cream shop dishwasher after graduating college with a psychology degree. What he had once thought of as a temporary job became his life as he moved up the ladder and ultimately opened his own place. There are now more than a dozen locations around the Boston area. J.P. Licks serves hard ice cream and yogurt, tart soft frozen yogurts, frappes, sundaes, cakes, and more. Keep an eye out for new seasonal special flavors each month. Sample flavors: fresh mint, brownie brownie batter, mint cookies ‘n’ cream, sweet cream, coconut almond chip" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Ice Cream Spot – Oreo Shake is FIRE! 🍦🔥 JP Licks never disappoints! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with amazing customer service and a fun, welcoming atmosphere. The variety of handcrafted ice cream flavors, sundaes, and shakes makes it a must-visit spot for any dessert lover. Now let’s talk about the real star of the show—their Oreo shake. 🤯🔥 Absolutely next level! It’s thick, creamy, and loaded with Oreo goodness, blended to perfection with just the right balance of cookies and ice cream. Every sip was pure heaven—hands down the best Oreo shake I’ve ever had! If you’re looking for top-quality ice cream, bomb milkshakes, and a place that never misses, JP Licks is the spot! Highly recommend! 🍨🍪🔥💯

My grand ma and I had 3 ice creams. 2 were chocolate and the other was a new coffee flavor. They were all delicious. We hope to come back soon. Best Ice cream we have had in a while🍦we ate it all as seen in foto

Google
JP Licks on Centre Street is the quintessential local ice cream shop that I can’t get enough of. The lines may be long, but that only heightens the anticipation for the decadent, creamy ice cream that awaits. Each visit feels like a small adventure, and I know that whatever flavor I choose, it’s bound to be amazing. The atmosphere is vibrant and friendly, with staff members who often look like college students hustling to make ends meet. They’re always cheerful and eager to help, adding to the welcoming vibe of the place. It’s clear that they enjoy what they do, which makes the experience even better. But let’s talk about the ice cream—it truly speaks for itself. With an incredible variety of flavors, each scoop is rich, smooth, and packed with taste. You can genuinely taste the quality in every bite. While the prices reflect this quality, they’re a bit steep, which is my only downside. When I was an EMT, I used to treat myself more often, but now I find myself going less frequently, not because I don’t want to, but because it’s not exactly cheap. JP Licks has become my go-to spot, and it’s easy to see why the locals flock here. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick treat or a leisurely evening with friends, this ice cream shop delivers every time. I can’t recommend it enough!

Google
Milkshakes (frappes) are obscenely overpriced and watery. You have to pay extra for an “extra thick” one. They definitely used half as much ice cream as you would get if you ordered a cone and yet charged almost twice as much. Malt was also an extra charge and only a meager amount was given, which barely provided any flavor. Total rip off!

Google
JP Licks helped prepare my (now husband’s) ice cream cake proposal in July 2023. We met at JP Licks for our first date years ago, and of course he knows ice cream is the way to my heart.

Google
Over priced for no reason and the hot fudge taste burnt. Huge rats hanging around drive way area by the dumpster. Workers always smoking close to the entrance.

Beautiful artwork and music. Delicious treats as savory ones when you’re on the go. The bathrooms are clean and staff is friendly. You gotta try their hot white chocolate and milkshakes are top tier!!

Yelp
Never disappoints. This was my first time getting a smoothie, cause I always get the maple butter walnut. Pretty good!

Yelp
Food service and ambiance are top tier!!!! Make sure to get the pistachios ice cream! One of the only places that actually put a decent amount of pistachios in their ice cream! Also calorie friendly!!!

Yelp
Great local business. Love the ice cream and friendly service. You can get freshly made ice cream or a sundae made to order. Good variety of flavors and of course seasonal pumpkin and apple fall flavors. Don't forget ice cream cakes for birthdays or parties. Shakes are good as well.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with JP Licks. Monthly flavors are fun and tasty (not AS quirky and unique as Salt and Straw). This location is a converted firehouse (take a peek around and you may see the details) and has a lot of fun local art on the walls that are sometimes for display. Service is generally quick, even when there are wildly long lines.

Yelp
Tons of seats indoors and out. Tasty ice cream treats and cool art. I was too full from dinner but took a pint and cones to go.

Yelp
This rating is for an employee named Cleo behind the counter. When I told them my order, it's like they totally zoned out and gave me a funny look... then said "WHHHHAT'S up???" It was a really strange and unexpected vibe. I don't know if they were new or if there was more going on. They kind of stood around like they didn't know how to go about the order (3 medium cups and 1 medium cone). As I waited for my order in line, another employee named Ian was so pleasant and professional and asked if I needed help to bring my order to the front. Kudos to Ian and hopefully next time I will be helped by Ian or anyone else but Cleo. Delicious flavors!

Yelp
Wow! We came to Boston on an overnight and discovered this place and it is absolutely devine! There are tons of ice cream options (boozy or not), along with other desserts, toppings and milkshake options! The service was a bit slow and there isn't a ton of inside seating, but there are lots of tables outside and free parking ! The inside of the place is so cool, lots of large decorations and options of other merch (shirts, cups, etc)! I'd definitely come back next time I'm in town !

Yelp
Amazing ice-cream, huge servings and such friendly staff! Was so overwhelmed by the menu; they let me try five different flavors and were so accommodating! Will be back. :)

Yelp
I visited with two of my friends on Friday afternoon. I was surprised by how many people there were given the current pandemic. The seats/tables were blocked off both inside and outside, which makes sense. I ordered one scoop that was half mint cookies and cream and half pistachio. My friend ordered one scoop of fresh banana ice cream. My other friend ordered one scoop of chocolate hazelnut ice cream. I really loved how fresh and flavorful the pistachio was! I think it tasted really yummy with the equally flavorful mint cookies and cream! This is definitely my new go-to-combo! My friends also raved about their fresh banana and chocolate hazelnut ice creams, so that's a great sign! The staff was friendly and efficient! The service was super quick, which was great because I wanted to get away from people ASAP haha. Overall, we had a great experience and LOVED our respective ice cream flavors! I think I'm gonna try the chocolate hazelnut next time we go!

Yelp
I had to change my review! The gluten free still got me sick! I can only get the same flavors due to my issue ! This is not a great place if you have allergies! Some times my ice cream is to soft! Some times the scooper is not cleaned and I get other mixed ice cream in mine! And the staff tells me they are not sure which ice cream I can have due to my allergies.!

Yelp
Hmm, more like 3.5 stars. I haven't been to JP Licks yet after moving back to MA, and I decided today was the day... and why not the original location? The location itself is spacious w/lots of outdoor tables, and a couple blocks away from the pond. So, location-wise, it's great. I had the salted caramel cookies 'n cream and it was... honestly, just okay. (Cookies 'n cream is my fav flavor of all time.) Greater Boston has a ton of amazing ice cream options, and honestly JP Licks didn't wow me. Maybe I'll have to come back just to make sure, hah!

Yelp
Great ice cream with unique flavors!! The staff was incredibly friendly- especially Ethan. We'll be back!!

Yelp
Are you really a Bostonian if you don't make JP licks a weekly ritual? We stopped by after visiting the Zoo lights on a Tuesday night around 10pm as it was one of the only dessert places open in JP (They close at midnight btw). I like this location in particular because of how spacious it is and how many outdoor seating tables there are, especially during Covid. There wasn't anyone else in the store with us so we felt pretty safe when ordering but they also labeled the floors to enforce social distancing pretty well here. They have the classic cookie dough, mint chip, vanilla, strawberry, etc flavors but love how JP licks also advertises their seasonal flavors - this time around was ube and pandan so we opted for these. I got a kiddie size for the pandan and my friend got a small ube. The total came out to a little over $10 which seems a bit high for me since I ordered a tiny little size! But anyways, the flavors were amazing, very creamy, very prominent ube / potato flavors coming through. It felt like I was eating the ice cream I had back in south east Asia!!! But honestly, both the pandan and Ube tasted to alike, I wish I ordered another flavor to switch it up a bit. Overall, JP licks is always a safe bet and is SO DELICIOUS AND CREAMY. This JP location isn't my favorite and I wouldn't go out of my way to come to this one in parotcilar just because it's so out of the way from where I live and the surrounding area is a bit meh but love that they're open so late and love the flavors overall!

Yelp
JP Licks is know for their ice cream but I go there for breakfast. It use to be the old fire station so there is plenty of room. They have a variety of seating locations including booths, tables and a couple of lounge chairs. They even have an area outside if that is something that you prefer. They usually have a copy of the current newspaper floating around. I usually get a couple of egg sandwiches on bagal with a cup of coffee. I have tried their ice cream which is out of this world. Their prices are competitive though I wish there were larger servings.

Yelp
Takes 91 degree weather to make me willing to wait 40 minutes for JP Licks. I know I sound crazy for actually doing waiting that long, but my friend and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have JP Licks at its birthplace right in the heart of Jamaica Plain! Besides, the surprisingly beautiful day put us in good spirits that even a 40 min wait couldn't ruin-- & it seemed like the long line of people out the door with us felt the same. What can I say--- ice cream has that effect on people! Because we had waited so long, my friend and I decided to treat ourselves by getting frappes with EXTRA thickness (meaning more ice cream in the milkshake to make it THICC). I got the cookies 'n' dough flavor and it was SOOO decadent. I know cookies and dough can be a basic flavor but the flavor of the cookies in my frappe was really present--I think only a testament to the high quality of JP Licks ice cream. It was the perfect way to cool down from the heat and filled us right up! The JP location is huge and has ample seating both inside and out. I was surprised to see that they also sell things other than ice cream, such as breakfast foods, snacks, and other beverages like coffee. I think it's great that they are versatile but can't come here and NOT have their ice cream! It's definitely up there on my list of fav ice cream shops!

Yelp
JP Licks was touted as one of the best ice cream institutions in Boston, and this is their original location in Jamaica Plain. But to be honest, I found it just so-so. The flavors we got were lackluster and had neither the solid creaminess of a premium ice cream (they were too runny and soft) nor the complex flavor of a quality creamery (they were too sweet and simple). Overall disappointed.
google avatar

Karla R.

Yelp
This place was alright. For ice cream, it was a bit too expensive (at least what I'm used to since I just moved from LA). The ice cream was good, but it wasn't mind-blowing. It seems like a great family place, though. Dogs are allowed and they even have a water bowl outside for them. The servers are young and not too friendly, though. They have a rewards program you can join. All in all, I wouldn't be the first to say, "omg let's go to J.P. Licks!!" but, I'd just go if I were in the area and my friends wanted ice cream
google avatar

Yelp
This was pretty good but we didn't have the best experience here. We miraculously snagged a parking spot right in front of the place but there was someone else blocking their driveway and a whole commotion between that guy and a worker happened inside and outside of the store that involved race relations and confusion and it is just not what you're going for when you're going for ice cream. Anyway. The line went relatively quickly and the woman helping us did not seem to be very happy in her job. Our daughter got a mini brownie batter, one of us got a peanut butter sundae with vanilla, and the other got a sugar cone with black raspberry & cookies. We have to say that our kid's ice cream actually *did* taste like batter, but it was so melty that it went all over the place. Strangely, the black raspberry did not have a very pronounced flavor and there wasn't much in the way of oreos. Not bad, but it just sounded way better than it was. The sundae was an insane bowl of toppings and not really our style, but of course it tasted rich and delicious. Given all the circumstances of this visit and the fact that our daughter was not being her usual well-behaved in dining establishments self, we're kind of sour on this place. We'll give another location another go at some point though. Probably. Maybe.
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
If the line is to the door, you'll hopefully only wait 20 minutes. It really depends on how many flavors people want to try (i.e. after 3, how rude they want to be). This is their original location and it's fun looking inside and out. And of course the ice cream is delicious, but you already knew that. The introduced a pretzel cone recently and it's really good if you like salty and sweet. If you need pup paws they're in the fridge that's by the coffee roaster.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Man I want to love this place for being a great meet up spot in JP. It has wifi, coffee, cozy chairs and outdoor seating in a great location. HOWEVER, their ice cream is SO expensive and you do not get a good sized portion with it. 5.50 for a kiddie cone? To be fair, their ice cream is Delicious and they have so many fun seasonal flavors. But coming from the North of Boston with so many amazing and more reasonably priced ice cream shops, JP licks will never compare. Ice cream should be a fun treat to grab after dinner, not a rare splurge.
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
JP Licks never lets me down with their delicious/well-made/creative/quality/homemade/local frozen treats (including their doggie Cow Paws which my pooch loves!), and has been my go-to ice cream spot in the city for decades now, despite it's ever-increasing prices (which to be fair isn't unique to them). But I wanted to also give a special shoutout to some of the workers at this location in particular, since there are a few (college kids I think?) who I have found are always smiling and go out of their way to be friendly and chat with the customers no matter who they are (something that I'd never seen at their other locations, in particular the Coolidge location which was my local for over a decade where they are pleasant enough but not overly engaging). I see some recent complaints about staff's unacceptable treatment of customers, which does reflect on the management and business as a whole, but wanted to say that not every single staff member seems to share that attitude/behavior.
google avatar

Julianna M.

Yelp
I'm so happy I ended up here! I was going to be lame and get vanilla with sprinkles BUT this was my first time here and you can get that at carvel. I ended up ordering the maple walnut ice cream and it did not disappoint. Since this was my first time in a JP licks and the other ones that I passed in Boston were a lot smaller than this one. Interior was super cute. It looked like they had an extensive coffee list as well as some breakfast items.
google avatar

Christelle S.

Yelp
Wow - having grown up on J.P. Licks, I'm shocked I'm only now writing a review. This is the BEST ICE CREAM IN BOSTON. Hands down. That's it. My go-to order is mint chip but they have so many delicious flavors. If you're feeling hungry, grab a Lixwich (they are so good!!). Also, when the weather is cold, their hot chocolate is out of this world!

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Went in to order ice cream the lady with dark brown hair & a pink mask was soo rude. I ordered ice cream for my child and was going to try my child's to see if I wanted to order the same flavor she flipped out yelling at me saying it's a pandemic put your mask on. I would of thought I was going to give her Covid or something which she stated I could of. She yelled that there are signs that said you can't taste your ice cream. My children felt very uncomfortable and were shaken by this lady's tone. For the record ~ THERE WAS NOT ANY SUCH SIGNS posted that say you can't lick or taste your ice cream. I'm posting a picture of what posted at the store. I work in a hospital. First OF ALL YOU CAN'T get Covid from a customer licking there ice cream. For the record droplets are what spread Covid when a person coughs or sneeze not taking a lick of there ice cream. Do your research lady! If she was that fearful of Covid then maybe she should rethink her job & request PPE. Had this lady spoke to me as an adult not like Two in a more professional tone, it could of been received. I WOULD NEVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION!!

Yelp
I'll never visit this location again. There were two orders ahead of me. The first was a family of 5 (3 kids under the age of maybe 8 and the mom and dad) So that order took about 10/15 mins. The second order was a younger lady w/ a little girl who grabbed two coffee bean bags to have made. There were only two people working behind the counter, one of them named Sophia. Sophia rung up the family of 5 and her coworker was making the ice cream and coffee for the second order. I WAS CLEARLY NEXT IN LINE. Waiting right at the counter to order. Two paramedics walked in after me and Sophia walks over to them and takes B O T H orders. I am 5'5. So you can see me over the counter. Not only that, I AM WEARING A YELLOW SHIRT! The play by play is what's crazy to me. She literally walked past me as if I wasn't standing there. BOTH TIMES!!! When she took the first paramedics order I was thinking "Ok. Maybe she thinks her coworker took my order" B/c she was making the ice cream for the little girl and the pair had walked over to the register. But no. She gave the paramedic her ice cream and walked past me yet again and proceeded to take the second paramedics order. I stood there with disbelief b/c not once did she make any eye contact with me. She didn't bother to ask if I was being helped or had placed my order yet. Some will say I should've spoke up. And you're right. But as I was standing at the counter while this all took place, literally within seconds, I had already made up my mind that I'd never visit the location again and I'd just make my way to the one in SouthBay since I now have a taste for ice cream. I won't continue to drag this on but I am hoping management reads this simply because Sophia needs retraining.

Yelp
Everybody knows JP Licks. Anyway, still one of the best ice creams i've had locally and still committed to eating my almond chocolate ice cream... Love it! Always have, always will.
google avatar

Derrek K.

Yelp
These last three times I've been here, I've order a pint of ice cream. None of the pints have been packed. For the $8.00, my pint should be packed tight. So, needless to say I am not happy w/the service.
google avatar

Cynthia T.

Yelp
Tldr: strawberry ice cream was awesome, safe covid procedures, felt let down by the brownie chocolate They're doing a great job with in-store social distancing. Space is clearly marked as one directional and the waiting line had helpful dots in the ground. Sadly, their normal menu layout makes it hard to see the price of anything until you're at the register, but that's what the online menu is for. I went on a moderately crowded afternoon. The wait was short and I got a medium sized cup with chocolate brownie and strawberry. The brownie was my adventurous pick of the day. As always the strawberry was super creamy and the pieces of frozen strawberries were lovely. Sadly the chocolate brownie started melting much faster than the strawberry which was a bit of a mess. The chocolate base had a very unpleasant gritty texture and the brownie pieces felt more like thick (also gritty) fudge. I'll be avoiding that flavor in the future.

Yelp
This JP Licks customer had been a happy ice cream eater since 1982. There ice cream is FRESH! There are so many options for ice cream, coffee and tea lovers. The special ice cream flavors change and they have their regular ice creams. The shop is Kosher. They also have vegan ice cream, sorbets etc. Award winning coffee and specialty coffees. 36 years of going to JP Licks and the service has always been good. My favorite location is the Jamaica Plain location. I can promise you a great visit all year round.
google avatar

Hillary M.

Yelp
Whelp, we're well and truly done, JP Licks. And after you made that delicious salted caramel cookie flavor a permanent option! Boo. After a little kid had a terrible allergic reaction several years ago, you did some solid training, created good protocols to avoid cross contamination, and welcomed back the allergic people. But staff training has definitely slipped and I saw a pretty serious cross contamination issue today. Called it out and the server told me he was following protocol and everything was cool - until his coworker stepped in and explained the correct process for allergies to him. Not safe, not worth the risk, not going back.

Yelp
I've been eating JP Licks Ice Cream since I used to live just around the corner from the original location in JP in 2000, and I still love it. They put up 3-4 interesting flavors along with their list of about 20 or so regular flavors. The ice cream is rich, creamy and tasty. Their sorbet is also great with some fresh flavors. I love the cape Codder (Cranberry, lime, vodka). What else can I say about it? If you haven't tried it, then get there right now. It's great.

Yelp
Went here the other day with my dad and two of the employees were pretty rude to us -- they had nasty attitudes and it made the whole experience sad and uncomfortable. This wasn't the first time this happened but it was very upsetting to see the employees taking out their bad mood on us (we were very generous with the 'please's and 'thank you's, smiled a lot and were friendly). This happened a few days ago and I'm still annoyed by it.... Otherwise! I've come in to the store or the one in Somerville ~15 times and they are SO lacking in vegan/non-dairy flavors. A lot of times they've been completely sold out and I left. A few weeks ago I got a sample of the non-dairy coffee lace, and it was the only ice cream I've had in my life that was SO BAD, I couldn't finish the spoonful! OMG I asked the employee if he liked it and he laughed and said no. It tasted like they forgot to put sugar in, and so watery, and like cheap coffee flavor?! They also usually put alcohol in a lot of the non-dairy flavors, which is fine, but there's definitely been times when the only vegan options were "sangria" or something with bourbon. On the flip side, I had a friend who got the root beer float there and still talks about how legendary it was. That's not a bad deal, like $6.40 I think for basically half a pint of vanilla + A&W. So two thumbs up for that! The vegan flavors I have shelled out money for, soy chocolate and hemp pistashio, were pretty good. Not as good as FoMu, 2 mins away, but not regret-worthy.

Yelp
Super solid ice cream and coffee spot local to the Boston area. This one in particular gets extra points for the late hours in an area that doesn't have much of that! Ice cream is good, selection of baked goods and coffee/espresso list too. Service varies and can be slow, but generally friendly.

Yelp
I just want to say fu k this place, I waited in line and they skipped me 3 times with people that were behind me waiting. Place of order is so un organized for someone's first time. At that point I didn't wait anymore since they kept skipping me like an idiot. Never bring any business to this place!!!!

Yelp
After having moved to Boston over a year ago, I've finally had the chance to try JP Licks. And when you're going to try JP Licks, why not try it at the original location?! So that's exactly what I did after work today. There were so many flavors and different options, I was grateful the employee was patient and there wasn't a line. I sampled a few different flavors before settling on the brownie brownie batter. It was rich and decadent - chocolate brownie with chocolate brownie pieces. The ice cream itself was creamy and smooth (not counting the brownie pieces). There is a lot of ice cream competition in Boston but JP Licks is by far my front-runner for favorite. The price is fair and the menu is accommodating to all different taste buds and dietary restrictions. I love that they also serve coffee and some breakfast items (sandwiches, eggs, waffles, etc).
google avatar

Dalia V.

Yelp
The most awesome ice cream I've ever had. I tried their coconut, almond, chocolate chip and OMG! I savored every spoonful. Their prices are good and their servings are big. I had the small serving in a cup and it was pretty big. So go to JP licks in Jamaica Plain the building was originally the fire station so it is a very cool place.

Yelp
Love it here. Warm cozy environment. Great coffee snack and amazing icecream. You're definitely paying for quality here. It's expensive but they have a rewards program so join that! And the ice cream is so so so good. Thick and sweet, just like the perfect woman! Just kidding! But seriously if you're looking for any kind of afternoon pick me up! This is the placccccceeeeee Ps the red eye has got me wiiiiiiires and ready for work!!!!

Yelp
Listen, if they have the chocolate hazelnut ice cream, GET A FRIGGING QUART OF IT. That stuff is so, so good! This place is the heart of JP -- you'll always run into someone you know here, and the ice cream is delish.

Judy T.

Yelp
Some flavors are better than others at JP Licks. I've been living in JP since 1985 and it used to be the best around. Now they are ok/pretty good, but Puritan ice cream made in Rozzie and sold at Chill-It on Park in Dot is the best! So smooth, creamy and tasty. And Chill-It's has more interesting flavors. JP Licks also has been the most expensive with small portions for a few years (pre-covid). I understand that their JP rent would be more than Dorchester rent, but wow, they are expensive.

Yelp
JP Licks is a classic for a reason. They never fail to have tasty flavors- my favorite being the brownie batter. They have the BEST brownie batter I've ever found! Always a warm weather staple.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Love buying pints and the Lix with (cookie ice cream sandwich). I also love their Covid protocals, forcing people to wear masks in the store. A thankless job, but really helpful in making customers feel safe. Keep up the great work!! Love the staff, ice cream and safefy procedures.

Yelp
One of the most famous ice cream stores in the area, it was mostly worth the hype! I got the pomegranate soft yogurt, which was a tart yogurt that tastes like soft serve. It was refreshing, slightly sweet, and definitely tart. The balance between sweet and tart was great, as it didn't taste too sugary. The store itself is huge and a nice place to hang out. It was around ~$5 for a small.

Yelp
Boston's only ice cream company shop. I have yet to find another place in Boston that can compete with JP Licks. Their ice cream cakes are phenomenal, reasonably priced, customizable, and most importantly delicious. They have a quick turnaround time too which is awesome, you can't go wrong here and everyone was going crazy over the cake I ordered for a 30th birthday. Good job JP Licks. Cow card: you can load money on here or use it to redeem $5 after spending $50, like a rewards card. Flavors: All great, they gave yogurt options as well. My personal fave is the coffee oreo (don't get me started) this is phenomenal and the best combo you can have. They offer free samples so dig in. Sundaes: I always get a sundae with sweet cream Carmel and chocolate sauce. Their homemade chocolate sauce is incredible! I would put that on everything if I could. I also add whipped cream on everything, even if I don't get a sundae because it is AMAZING. Cow Paws: our dog Teller is a huge fan of the doggy ice cream. I stare at my boyfriend as the dog eats the healthy scoop of peanut butter honey doggy ice cream topped with a biscuit in one bite. He must get brain freeze, but I feel like I devour my ice cream in one bite as well, so I can see where he is coming from.

Yelp
The original! JP=Jamaica Plain and this spot is such a neighborhood gem. From coffee to frappes to ice cream sodas to yogurt to ice cream to soft serve to puppy ice cream to seasonal flavors and ice cream cakes--you can always find something here that will let you leave with a smile. They have great outdoor seating, wonderful service, and an awesome selection of frozen dairy (and non!) treats.

Yelp
Awesome icecream with varied options for toppings. The inside is not the most comfortable place to sit and enjoy the icecream though. However when the weather gets warmer the seats outside look like a nice place to relax and enjoy your icecream!

Yelp
JP Licks is super fun because of their wide variety of flavors. They are always coming out with new "Monthly Flavors" so it is fun to go in and try samples. They are super friendly and when it is not too busy they'll let you sample as many flavors as you'd like (within reason of course!) While the ice cream is great it can get busy and it is on the more expensive side. It is safe to say that if it is a summer evening, even during the week, that you'll wait in a significant line. While it is annoying, it speaks to how great their ice cream is. The original location has a really fun, eclectic vibe. They have great outdoor seating and indoor seating as well as interesting decorations - all I'm going to say is try finding the elf.

Yelp
Servers were nice, gave samples. No line. A bunch of flavor options. Ordered maple butter walnut and mint cookies and cream. Mint cookies and cream is now my favorite ice cream. ALSO 50% with military discount!!!!!

Yelp
While everything here is delicious and great, with friendly service, I'm going to be focusing on the milkshakes. Because I'm a milkshake snob. And I'm also super happy, because they are a local chain I know I can get one of the best damn milkshakes (or frappes, for the dyed in the wool New Englanders) from ANY of their flavors. You heard me. Any. Flavor. Of. Ice Cream. Can. Be. A Milkshake. I prefer the extra thick frappe because it's thicker and has, in my opinion, a better mouth feel. I just like the thick milkshakes. But never fear, if you don't want a more traditional style New England style milkshake, the regular ones are really good. Now let's talk flavors. They make a lot of amazing flavors. My favorite, because I adore peanut butter in all of it's glory, is peanut butter cookies n cream. But then there's flavor of the month, and having had a horrible, no good, very bad day... A friend brought me a Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Chip. Turned my frown upside down! The coffee is good. Service is wonderful and friendly. Baked goods are delicious. But for me it's about the ice cream, and having that made into an extra thick frappe.

Yelp
One of the nicest JP Licks I've gone to. Very spacious, clean, nice paintings on the wall. Unlike their other locations the music they played was pleasant to ear. The bathroom was nice and clean. Lots of seating and free wifi. My only issue with these chains are the price they charge for the tiniest amount of ice cream. But it needs to be tried, it is awesome.

Yelp
First time here and I'm definitely not disappointed! We ordered a small scoop of the sweet cream as well as a small of the their mojito sorbet and both were very delicious. For the amount the price is kinda pricey- overall our total was just over $8. Definitely a nice place for a meet over coffee or ice cream. Lots of tables and very well air conditioned for a warm day! Staff is very efficient and nice. Would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a cold sweet to cool you down!
