The Best Sushi in Jacksonville, Florida | Eater Miami

"Since opening in 2020, Nori Restaurant has been crafting some of the best sushi in St. Augustine. The menu features a large selection of nigiri and sashimi with items like fatty bluefin tuna known as otoro, and spicy conch known as horagai. Those looking for more creative options should look at the classic roll menu, where each sushi roll can be made with brown rice or soy paper for an additional cost."

I had a rainbow nurotu roll and seaweed salad. Delicious. I would come back here again. Had to take it togo. But it was worth the trip. The fish was fresh and delicious.

We ordered sushi as delivery and needed our order to be gluten free. The restaurant immediately called us and let us know that one of our items could not be made gluten free and offered a substitute. Then they called back and let us know that they needed to change out one of the ingredients and it would be a little bit of an up charge. They were SO helpful and friendly and didn’t push anything on us. The food was soo yummy too!! Highly recommend especially if you have any allergies!

Google
Okay everyone, this place is great, but they have no concept of “coursing” your meal. So you wanted an appetizer? That sushi before your noodles? They will bring out your entree first. It’s all delicious though. My suggestion is just go in and order as you go along. You will be better served if you realize this. Even if you ask the sever you want it coursed, they just really really don’t understand. Cultural differences abound but this spot is a banger.

Google
This place used to wonderful but unfortunately we will not be returning. We repeated to the server 3 times that we needed everything gluten free, he acknowledged. He brought the first item and immediately I could tell there was soy sauce added, we questioned and he said of yeah that is gluten free soy sauce and then he said actually it's not, sorry. Since I have celiac disease I proceeded to of course throw up to avoid exposure as much as possible. We asked to box anything else up after that, never served any gluten free soy sauce as it did not seem to exist. No apologies, no comps and then the waiter just hovered over us while paying the bill in full with tip. I used to love this place and recommend it, but this is the second time I've had this issue so will not be returning.

Google
I ordered a banh mi for a pick up and it was disappointing. The sandwich was small, half size of what you can get on Federal. It also had very little to no veggies. I missed pickled carrots, daikon and the crunch that comes with them.

Google
I cannot overstate how high the quality of this restaurant is. I come in every Saturday for their lunch special, which is an excellent value, and the staff I always speak with at the sushi bar (Mae Ling and Justin) are kind, hardworking, and very talented. This restaurant is THE hidden gem of Denver, and in my opinion they serve the best sushi in the city. It’s the first place I had real, actual wasabi while living in Colorado, so if nothing else sells you then it is worth coming in just for that experience. To top it all off, It has an extremely comfortable atmosphere with tasteful decor. I will continue to be a regular here as long as I am around!

Google
Is a spectacular Japanese restaurant. I love sushi and sake. 💯 recommended!!

Surya Sundar

Google
Mid overpriced food, bad service. Guy at front for carry-out was too lazy to get spicy mayo after asking for it, made up some excuse to not help. Food was not that great either. Definitely a lot better sushi spots near Denver, avoid coming here.

Yelp
Really great genuine-ish Sushi joint. Took care of my wife with celiac or Gluten issues. All the sushi was very good. Mackerel was excellent, like it was just flown in. ;) Very good service. I love this place.

Yelp
I ordered the combination Lo Mein and the seared tuna roll. Both were outstanding. The Lo Mein was delivered steaming hot. Angel, the delivery driver was very friendly and he let know that he was also a sushi chef. This was my second delivery order, however, I have dined at the restaurant several times and have never been disappointed!!!

Yelp
Clean your bathrooms. Dont leave cleaning materials on the sink area. Yuck. The first impression of a restaurant is the bathroom. If your bathroom is not clean and not fragreance free I assume your kitchen is not clean. I will walk out if your restrooms are not clean. Restrooms are representive of the way you handle yout kitchen.

Yelp
I always pause when doing Japanese on Mondays, but I almost exclusively eat Japanese when travelling for work, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Pretty empty at 7 pm on a Monday night; just one other table. I ordered an Unagi roll with eel, cucumber, avocado and eel sauce ($9.45, pretty underwheming and undersized; I guess you get what you pay for), as well as the Lobster Tempura Roll, with a whole fried lobster tail, avocado, cucumber, lettuce, eel sauce, spicy mayo, fish egg and scallion ($20, just ok; the lettuce throws me off). They don't have a dinner bento, but unusually offered the kids dinner as a similar consideration. Fresh wasabi is an additional $2.50. They also offer the option to deep fry any roll for $3.50, which is also unusual. I didn't go for either option, but good to have choices! Ambiance is clean and service is friendly. There is also a massive Buddah statue which is a bit imposing! The 80s/90s soft rock playlist was banging! They did end the meal off with a free bit of dessert which was a nice touch -- a small slice of vanilla?/mango? cake roll with whipped cream on top.

Yelp
Everything about this place was great! Food, ambiance, and very very friendly staff. The seared tuna roll was maybe one of the best rolls I've ever had. We will be frequenting this place for sure.

Yelp
My friend and I came to JP Nori Sushi & Asian Cuisine for dinner. Upon arriving, we were immediately seated. Our server soon came by to take our orders. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, service seemed to be on the slow side. We waited an excessive amount of time for our food, especially my udon, which arrived after I had finished my sushi. Sometimes, the slow service is worth it because of the excellent quality food. However, the food here was just slightly above average. They did have uni (sea urchin), which is something that is not typically stocked by most sushi restaurants. But the size of the sushi and the quality of the rice was just average. My udon tasted fairly average as well, but they did provide a large quantity and variety of tempura. Overall, this restaurant is fine to eat at, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try it.

Yelp
We met friends here on a Saturday night at 6pm who mentioned this was the busiest they'd ever seen in. The whole restaurant was almost full, so, service was a bit slow, but again our friends who have been a few times mentioned this being abnormal. We ordered a lemon drop, mango margarita, Sapporo, veggie tempura, cream cheese wontons, Mongolian beef with fried rice and egg drop soup, general Tso's chicken with white steamed rice and egg drop soup, shrimp tempura roll, combo roll, California roll, friend roll, and an eel roll I don't remember the name of. Everything was so tasty and the Mongolian beef and general Tso's were great portions, lots of leftovers! Definitely a little hole in the wall we wouldn't have tried without our friends recommendation, but are really glad we did!

Yelp
The ambiance is an old school eclectic, if you know what I'm trying to get at. It's not traditional Japanese but also not modern Asian fusion. I think it's because of the neon lights. Service wise I thought it was on a slower side even though we came in at a time that was not very busy. The dishes I enjoyed were the Hamachi Kama (salmon collar) and the Beef sushi roll wrapped in soy paper. The former was well seasoned and had a nice crust; the latter very tasty and tender. Unfortunately the rest of our party loved to order fried foods: from tempura to cutlets, neither was worth writing home about. The sizzling plates like teriyaki salmon is pretty standard as well: big portion but over cooked.

Yelp
I think we just found an awesome little gem in our neighborhood! I'm so excited to find good sushi so close by. When we walked in we were greeted and taken care of immediately. The restaurant has a calm vibe with fun lighting, a giant Buddha statue, and comfortable seating. You can see the chefs working hard. Everything we had tasted very fresh, and the menu was quite large. The food came out quickly and there were multiple servers helping us. Each item was delicious. Try this place. We loved it so much we joined the rewards membership. Can't wait to go back. It's nice to have excellent sushi that we don't have to drive all the way to Denver or Aurora for!

Yelp
We have a new love which is sushi so we love to try different places. JP Nori is one of those hidden ones but definitely worth visiting. Don't get geeked by the area or appearances because we had a great time here and, most importantly, some amazing food. Again, keeping in mind this is raw fish, it's important to note that the ingredients were fresh, the fish tasted amazing and we enjoyed every roll and piece of sashimi. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean, very relaxing environment and welcoming from the moment you step through the door. Do check them out and you'll not be disappointed!

Yelp
Superb find! Very clean which is essential. I got the tofu vegetables to go. The portion was so generous! It comes with salad, soup, and an egg roll, that's amazing! It was very tasty and it's clear that this restaurant is run by professionals. Will go back often!

Yelp
My husband and I live near JP Nori but usually dine at a nearby competing sushi restaurant. After reading good reviews, we decided to change things up and try out JP Nori this evening. Unfortunately, the experience was sorely disappointing. In total, we ordered 8 items - 5 pieces of sushi and 3 rolls. We received 1 of the pieces of sushi we ordered. The other 4 pieces of sushi were delivered as sashimi instead. The 3 rolls we ordered were never delivered at all. Yes, of 8 items ordered, we only received 1 of them. I informed our waitress that we had ordered nigiri, not sashimi. However, I didn't want to cause food waste or undue labor and so just asked for a side of sushi rice to accompany the sashimi. It was a huge let down to not receive the food we ordered. After getting 7 of the 8 items we ordered incorrect, I expected the restaurant might comp part of our bill. However, not only was no discount offered, but we were BILLED for the order of sushi rice that we never would have even ordered in the first place had our order been correct. All-in-all this was such a sorely disappointing dining experience due to the almost comically poor service. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Yelp
Love this place. Its comfort Asian food always fresh and tasty with kind staff. Make sure to come and eat!

Yelp
We loved this place! Don't be too put off by its location (although I wish they'd find somewhere better). Their food and service are well worth the visit. We had: Seared Tuna Roll Angel Roll Mountain Roll Lobster Tempura Roll Everything was wonderful!

Yelp
We had a lovely lunch at JP Nori yesterday. The best thing is- and this is a rarity for Asian restaurants- you can get lunch specials on the weekend! So I went with a 3 sushi roll combo for $20 and Hubs had the Pad Thai lunch special. Both came with soup and salad. We both opted for the hot and sour soup and it was delicious. The salad was surprisingly good as well. My rolls were ok- of course the choices were the plain jane ones so I opted for spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and unagi. They were all serviceable. The pad thai was good - though a little sweet. It definitely needed the chili oil. My daughter had the gyoza and she gobbled that right up! Service is super friendly and it was a decent stop.

Yelp
We ordered take out while visiting family. When placing the order, the person taking it was friendly and efficient. Said it would take about 25 minutes and when we arrived about 20 minutes later, everything was ready to go. We ordered a lot of food (many mouths to feed!) so what we ordered and comments follow: Teriyaki chicken: made with dark meat so juicy and flavorful. The sauce was bit thick and sweet and those who ate it loved it. Orange chicken: meh in my opinion and one of the reasons for the 3 stars. The chicken was more like hard nuggets, thickly coated and the sauce just wasn't orange flavor...more like sticky, sweet sauce. Beef & broccoli: Again, the sauce was just meh but the meat was very tender and the broccoli was crisp tender. Lo mein: the pasta was over done, another reason for the 3 stars. The veggies were crisp, which we liked...just the noodles we mushy. Gyoza-fried: These were delicious. The sauce was light and flavorful and the gyoza was perfectly fried to a crispy outside and a tender filling that was really good. Cream cheese wontons: Fried crispy and the filling was a sweet cream cheese...they were a hit! Veggie fried rice: Rice done well and lots of veggies (maybe frozen mixed?) but had a good flavor. Three sushi rolls were also ordered: Avocado roll, Philly roll, and the Black dragon roll. Everyone agreed that the salmon in the Philly roll was too fishy smelling and tasting (sign of non-fresh fish) but the other two rolls were well received. I'm so picky about my sushi so none of these rolls cut it for me. Our order also came with white rice and the restaurants version of hot & sour soup. The soup wasn't good in my opinion and I was the only one who tried it. I love a good hot & sour soup but this was very thick and gelatinous and although it had an ok flavor...wasn't really very good.

Yelp
I liked the heart attack better than the monkey brain appetizer (she didn't really like either). The crab and cream cheese wontons were very good. Salmon sushi was very good. The tempura sushi roll was very good. The van roll was pretty good (she preferred the van roll). The miso soup was really good.

Yelp
Another New Year's Eve sushi date in the books! So happy we found this gem! It's in an unassuming little shopping area in a quiet part of town. Don't let it fool you! The parking lot looks like it fills up quickly, but it looked like there was street parking. We walked in around 5:20pm. Had to beat the NYE rush, and I'm happy we did! There was plenty of seating when we got there, but around 6pm, the restaurant was full. There was one larger party of about 10-12, and it looked like there could've been room for one (maybe 2) other larger parties of no more than 10. If you're a large party, I highly recommend you make a reservation. As a party of 2, we did not have a reservation, but I'm not sure if they take them for smaller parties. We sat in a nice booth along the wall. The decor was absolutely beautiful. It looked more expensive than the menu was! The prices are very reasonable. They're comparable to any $$ sushi place around town. The service was exquisite. Very accommodating, extremely welcoming. We felt like valued guests. The sushi was outstanding. We got a couple orders of salmon and yellowtail center cut sashimi that just melted in our mouths (special items). All of the sushi rolls were amazing as well. The sweet potato roll was probably my favorite. You can really tell the quality of a sushi restaurant by their sweet potato roll...no joke! The sweet potato was fried perfectly in tempura and wrapped in rice and seaweed, then topped off with an unagi sauce drizzle. Divine. And there's a melt-in-your-mouth seared tuna roll with spicy tuna inside and topped with seared ahi tuna that's drizzled in garlic butter and Japanese dressing that I'm still salivating about. It was such a lovely evening. We cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
We tried this place for the first time this weekend and were SO impressed with everything: the food, the service, the prices, the menu... it was honestly incredible. We got veggie tempura, a sushi roll (I asked if they'd add Mango to a shrimp tempura roll and they said that was no problem - YUM), a chicken soba noodles lunch special, and an orange chicken lunch special. Everything was amazing and the servers were sooo kind, I always had a full drink and everything I needed. I'll be back!

Yelp
Sushi Lunch is great. Salad, miso soup included. Sushi is fresh and tasty!! Service was continuous through the lunch. Very attentive. Dining room appearance is bright and clean. Favorite sushi in metro Denver!!

Halle C.

Yelp
Great sushi every time! The staff is friendly and accommodating. The place to go for sushi in the area!

Kelly E.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, service was great! Bar next door provided ambience. Not my taste in bass thump, but my teenaged son enjoyed it.

Yelp
First time visit and was not sure what to expect. Very large Budda in the dining area, not sure why. Opted to sit at the bar with a buddy. I always like to watch chefs creations. We went with a 50.00 omakase and really liked it. Chef Justin did a great job with variety and presentations. We got about 12 pieces of fish all quite good including mackerel and uni which I normally don't like. Looking forward to trying other Asian dishes on my next visit. Very nice servers.

Laura R.

Yelp
Rolls were a bit small for the price, but very good (comparing to several other sushi restaurants in my area)

Lisa T.

Yelp
My family was visiting so we just stopped in for a little Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxed, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. Food was fresh and came out quick! Overall great experience!

Yelp
Don't get deceived by the shady exterior...the interior is well decorated with nice lighting. Very good sushi and we had such a cute older Asian waitress. She was able to upswell us on fresh live scallops, very tasty! We ordered edimame and takoyaki. Both were very good. Although the takiyaki itself was already very filling. We also ordered a bunch of sashimi and sushi from tuna, scallop, salmon and the spider roll. Everything was delicious especially the sashimi. It really tasted fresh! The service was excellent and the prices weren't bad.

Veronica H.

Yelp
It's ok food not the best going somewhere else and not good and i don't understand them and they didn't get right order o gave 2 star because they seems nice but who know people have 2 faces so i don't know
google avatar

Annette T.

Yelp
Veggie tempura app was so deliciously crispy! The veggie tempura roll and spider roll were good as well, but the green roll was a bit disappointing. They have a huge menu though so I'd like to come back and try some other stuff. Service was great!

Chris R.

Yelp
Made a reservation, took about 10 minutes to get a table. After we were sat, sat for 10-15 minutes until I had to get up and go find a waiter. Ordered 3 appetizers, and I had again get up to go find a server to ask if the appetizers were going to come out before the sushi. The wontons came out, then most of our sushi, and when we were 1/2 done with the sushi before the other 2 appetizers came out. Our server never checked on us. By far the worst service we have had in a long time! Very disappointed after seeing the yelp rating! The food was ok, but overshadowed by the lack of service. There are much better sushi places.
google avatar

Theresa R.

Yelp
So ordered take out tonight and seriously disappointed. Pad Thai add mixed veggies, with chicken it was was an orange/red, very hot, no peanuts and no veggies added. Inedible. Ordered combo fried rice again added mixed veggies, one piece of broccoli a couple carrots, and a few green peppers added, no peas, no egg, no flavor, bits of shrimp a couple slices of beef mostly chicken, heavy on soy, too salty. 2 egg rolls the worst , mushy inside over fried outside just gross threw them away. What a waste.
google avatar

Makaylah S.

Yelp
So so good to order for take out! Their sushi is fresh, and they have a nice variety to choose from. We will have to dine in at some point, as we have not been let down yet.
google avatar

Yelp
Close by home a good place to eat. You can almost always find a place to sit without waiting.

Yelp
Wonderful. But no happy hour since COVID started. Staff are fully masked and very friendly, nice, and helpful.
google avatar

Joelle D.

Yelp
Definitely recommend this restaurant. We had wonderful service. Their prices are great and it was some of the best sushi we have had in a long time! So glad we found this place. We are definitely going to make it a regular stop!

Laurie S.

Yelp
Super speedy delivery on a Saturday night! Hot, fresh and delicious! This was our first time trying and we are hooked!
google avatar

Yelp
I love the variety of Asian foods available here - perfect for a group where not everyone is in the mood for sushi! The atmosphere was nice and we really enjoyed the decorations. The sesame tofu was fantastic!
google avatar

Debbie B.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. I had the bento box with chicken katsu. It was very crispy and delicious. The egg rolls were fantastic and the salad was very fresh with a wonderful dressing. My daughter loved the JP roll and my husband enjoyed his sweet and sour pork. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We were passing through the Denver area this weekend and wanted to find a reasonably priced and highly rated sushi/Japanese food restaurant that was able to get us in and out in a reasonable amount of time. 7:15pm on Friday night, called JP Nori and they said they would be able to seat us immediately. Arrived at 7:30, got seated, place looked nice and fairly busy. Slightly slow but friendly service at first, but eventually got our waters, tea and a beer for me. Immediately ordered a kids meal bento box for my daughter and edamame and soup as we were quite hungry. 15 min later we ordered the rest of our meal: A Yummy role which was recommended by our server, a rainbow roll, and 3 orders of nigiri (toro, salmon and albacore). The main reasons I'm giving two stars has to do with how long our food took to arrive in addition to the quality and presentation of the food. It took 30 min for the edamame and miso soup to arrive at which point the server apologized for the wait and said they would not charge us for the edamame. Then 5 min later my daughter's bento box arrived (teriyaki chicken meal). Chicken was tender and sauce was quite sweet (decent flavor), but the sauce for the stir fried veggies that the chicken was served on top of was quite spicy due to an excessive amount of pepper (I tried it and it wasn't bad for an adult, but would recommend taking it down a few notches for a kids meal). The rest of the bento was mediocre. Steamed rice was a bit dry. We then waited another 30 min before our sushi arrived and by that time the restaurant was not full at all. We could not understand why it took nearly an hour for our small sushi order to be served. They apologized and said they had a lot of take out orders. The sushi was not good. The blow torched seared Yummy Roll had a tough, almost rubbery texture to the tuna (think it was tuna on top) and just seemed messy with sauces overall, not presented well. Rainbow roll was similar, not quality fish, not presented well. Same with the nigiri, albacore was seared via blow torch, not good texture or taste and the toro was thin and chewy (not what you expect when eating toro). The salmon was the best of the three in taste/texture, but again was thinly sliced and presented poorly. Not sure how this place has a 4.5 star rating. Friendly wait staff, however poor service overall and generally poor quality of food.

Mike S.

Yelp
Finally a return after a couple years of being away. The Rona Virus kept us away and the almost 30 minutes drive as well. We had gyoza, sashimi and maki for lunch. It was all prepared quickly and expertly by the chefs. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Everything tasted great and we got a complimentary dessert of mochi/ice cream/crème puffs to welcome us back. Very good!

Yelp
Best Customer Service I have seen in a long time! I walked in and the host made sure I felt seen right away! She was on the phone but that didn't stop her from making it a warm welcome. When I was taken to my seat, it felt like I was in an entirely different realm. It was somewhat quiet and peaceful. I ended up getting the Sushi Lunch B and the portion size was perfect! The big Buddhist statue was also a cool scene while I ate my lunch! :)

Yelp
Would give 3.5 stars if I could. Arrived for an early dinner for a party of six. We were greeted and seated immediately. The servers were genial and very attentive throughout our meal. Altogether, we ordered three appetizers, several sushi rolls, and two dishes. One of the rolls came out before the appetizers/salads/soups hit the table. A bit unexpected but made sense to push out early given the number of rolls that we ordered. The appetizers were pretty standard fare for fried dumplings and steamed shumai. Calamari can typically be hit or miss, but we were pleasantly surprised to see real calamari (vs processed rings). They arrived with the lightest bread coating and were cooked just right - no overly chewiness here! I did not have the two dishes, but their plates were loaded with veggies and a good proportion of meat, which was also served with rice, a side salad and soup, a good bargain for the price. Overall, many of the sushi rolls had the same flavors and textures due to the fried/tempura components and the (over)use of eel sauce. The most refreshing roll was the Rainbow Naruto, which is served without rice and wrapped with cucumber. It was big and fell apart easily, but still very delicious! The salmon and tuna nigiris were also fresh. No pictures because I left my phone in the car and decided it was too cold to run out and get

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner there tonight. We got in shortly before happy hour, and Victor, the waiter, encouraged us to hurry and eat, so that we could take advantage of their wonderful, happy hour offerings. Long story short, I had the shrimp tempura, which comes with shrimp and lots of veggie tempura as well. My husband also had one. Chris also ordered a rainbow roll from the happy hour menu, and by the time we ate all of that we were stuffed. And happily so! The tempura was delicious and tender without being greasy and the rainbow roll was fantastic. I could eat there all the time!

Yelp
It's basically around the corner from where I live. It's a really good place that has sushi, Chinese, I don't know how many different types of foods they offer. Today I had Pad Thai With shrimp and it was wonderful. I am always excited to see Simon when I go there but really, everyone that works there are so friendly and awesome. I would definitely recommend it and I will be going back soon.
google avatar

Christophe L.

Yelp
Really yummy sushi! I had the yellowtail roll and seared tuna roll. The yellowtail was good, but the seared tuna stole the show. 10/10 would recommend. Egg rolls were good, and my wife had the chicken teriyaki which was also good. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Our queat for asian cuisine stopped here last night as we are in town to visit family. Definitely a great choice to satisfy your hunger. The Good: The great variety of food options was a perfect fit to make this a one place stop for everyone's different choices to tame their hunger. We had some sushi rolls, pad Thai, and curry lime chicken. All tasted wonderful and the portion size was perfect. The Bad: Nothing to report here... The Ugly Truth: Ordered take out from here and our food was ready at the promised time. It was plenty of food for the 4 of us. With the plenty portion size and great flavors of all the food we are truly happy to have found this place. If we'd live here, this would be a staple in our dining out options...

Debra M.

Yelp
Awesome! First time ordering , ordered delivery . The delivery driver was beyond happy and amazing , the food is outstanding thank you JP Nori sushi ! I will definitely be ordering here in the future
