"This one is a little bit of a sleeper, but we’re not here to gatekeep great fish and chips. While JP Seafood’s menu is stacked with excellent Japanese and Korean food, there’s also a small section of classic fried seafood platters, including fish and chips. "JP Seafood Cafe has been holding it down on Centre Street since the mid 1990s. The menu is stacked with excellent Japanese and Korean food, so it’s difficult to say where to start. Good bets, though, are the katsu don (fried pork cutlet served with rice, sautéed onions, and sweet-savory Japanese-style eggs), an assortment of sushi and maki, an order of kimchi, an order of mandoo kuk (Korean-style beef dumpling soup), some beef gyoza, and the spicy basil pad thai. "Before life as we know it changed forever, my fiancee and I spent countless nights sitting at the bar at JP Seafood Cafe, snacking on sushi and gyoza and torched salmon and katsu and slugging heady IPAs from Turtle Swamp Brewing and shots of sake. By any metric — quality of food and service, general vibe, accessibility to our apartment — it is among our favorite restaurants in the city. We miss sitting at the bar, eating too much fish, and drinking too much alcohol, but we’re happy JP Seafood Cafe is open for takeout (and delivery for folks who live in JP).
