Perfect meal after my rowing race! I came here after a long day at the regatta and it hit the spot. Pear was my server—she was super kind and welcoming. The food was insanely good, every bite was worth it. And the inside of the restaurant? So cool, with amazing architecture and a relaxing vibe. Definitely coming back!

We love coming here for the sushi, fried rice, and dumplings. The food is always fresh and delicious, and we’ve never had a bad experience. The service is consistently great, and we always leave satisfied. Highly recommend!

I went here now two times! So amazing! The Philly roll is the best and I always get it with fresh salmon, not smoked. The salmon and tuna pieces are very tasty. And the edamame and miso soup are the best appetizers. Coming here for Christmas is definitely the best time to come! I highly recommend! 🫶

Love Japan at UTC is a fantastic dining spot, especially during the holidays! The beautiful view of the lights paired with festive Christmas music creates a magical ambiance. The service is excellent, and it’s very kid-friendly—my child absolutely loved the chicken teriyaki and fried rice. I personally enjoyed the fresh and flavorful sushi rolls. It was such a pleasant and memorable experience. We’re looking forward to our next visit!

My family and I went here for lunch and ordered 8-9 different rolls, (along with carrot ginger salad and miso soup) and they were all amazing. The rice was fresh and soft, the veggies and avocado were fresh. We loved the food, and our server was sweet and helpful. The only reason I gave the atmosphere four stars, was they were playing loud music inside and out, and was kind of annoying to talk over it. Only got one pic, and it’s not that great 😆 but I highly recommend Jpan- great food!

Great Food. I was loving every bite of my Sea Monster Sushi roll. The beef in the tacos was well seasoned and very flavorful. Service was good and the atmosphere was on point. Music and lighting were perfect for the night. I will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.

Fern (?) was delightful and made me and my friend feel at home 🏡 When we ordered way more food than we probably needed to, Fern helpfully explained and re-explained the various types of sushi we had on our plates / boat. She even helpfully accommodated a modification my friend made to their order! Fern suggested the Salmon Lover's roll, too, and that was amazing. Love the aesthetic of the restaurant. The water cups, the water pitcher, the water.... We sat outside and we loved the little table lamps! The food was delicious as always 😋 I tried the fatty tuna and I thought it was great! If you're reading this and you haven't been here you definitely should try it out!!!

Pear was great! We came during Valentines Day and her service was exceptional and we did not wait long for our food. I will ask for her every time we come here!

I came to visit Sarasota from Tampa and found Jpan on our search. The food was INCREDIBLE and our server Andrea was AMAZING. She recommended the Gents and Acevichado roll and they melt our mouth she also recomended the Kagayaku specialty drink and it was very refreshing. Definately a place to come back and recommend. Great food, great service.

Pros: Excellent customer service. Large comfy shaded patio. They have a diverse selection of rolls to choose from. Presentation was nice. Cons: pickled jalepeno wouldn't be served traditionally

Tried this place on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner and was blown away!! We ordered the Hamachi Chili and Tuna Pizza appetizers, and I'd highly recommend both. While I wasn't expecting much from the Tuna Pizza it was everyone's favorite, a perfect combination of spice, citrus, and fresh tuna. As for the sushi we ordered, none of us could declare a clear winner. Each bite tasted slightly different, causing us to rearrange our sushi rankings multiple times. All of the roles we ordered tasted fresh and provided a variety in flavor. As for the ambiance, it's a nicer casual spot facing the shops at UTC. We sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air! I would 100% come back next time Im craving sushi and in the area.

We love this spot. The service is always excellent, the location convenient and seating is available inside or outside on the patio. Our lunch was perfect with two rolls & a salad for me at $15, and a special roll Alfa Roll for my wife. The ambience is terrific with a more warm and relaxing back bar room and the main sushi area in front. Parking can be a challenge anywhere in the UTC mall so just be patient or walk a bit!

A very nice surprise! I'd been wanting to try this spot for the longest time and my mom and I finally stopped in on a Saturday night. We came in around 6:30 and did make a reservation, but it honestly maybe wasn't even needed since we were seated right away. I will say though that there's limited seating inside, and in the summer months making a reservation is likely a safe bet. We ordered a couple signature rolls, a traditional eel roll, and some sashimi, and it was all SO good. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was fairly laid back. Browsing through the rest of the menu we some fried rice and udon dishes which sounded super tasty, so needless to say we'll be back in the future!

Came here for lunch and had a really good experience! Their lunch specials are great and you definitely have enough to share. We got 3 sushi rolls for $18 and it came with a salad. The ginger dressing on the salad was sooooooo good. Our waitress was very kind and sweet! Overall, good experience and I would return.

I don't understand all the talk about cocktails here either, there isn't much of anything. I wanted some wine and they said they hardly ever serve it? The spring rolls were not good at all, happy hour is so limited I would not come back.

Great place for sushi and other Japanese-fusion items. My wife loves the sushi, she has the Alfa roll and the spicy tuna. I usually get the volcano chicken with fried rice and both are delicious. Entrees come with soup and salad which are also tasty. Only thing we had that was disappointing was the pork buns. Compared to others that we've had, they were low quality. Taste wasn't quite there and overall presentation was lack luster. Service and staff were great and the restaurant itself is clean with a comforting atmosphere.

Environment very cool, inside and outside. Staff very friendly. We ordered Asian pork tacos, very good. Acevichado roll had a spicy kick, delicious, and the alfa roll had a sweet kick, also delicious. Ramen was lacking of salt and I felt it very greasy.

Exceptional experience! I have been here several times for events as well as regular dining service. The restaurant is easy to find, located in the UTC area. Once you pass through the traffic circle, it is right on the right-hand side. There is plenty of parking. I make a reservation every time I dine in, so I am unsure of how easy it is to walk in and be seated immediately. The owner of this restaurant has events in conjunction with his other restaurant Korê as well as other local restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the tuna cutting event and would highly recommend it. Dining in, they have a pretty good menu with a lot of items that are gluten-free. I think they make some really great gluten-free fried rice. I also love to get the omakase, which is fairly priced. I did come in once for the omakase, and they were basically out of it and a lot of other items, and it was a Friday evening. I was advised that the best time to get that is the beginning of the week when they get their shipment in. I like the decor and style of the restaurant, there is plenty of space and outdoor seating. This is literally one of our favorite sushi spots, and we drive all the way from South Tampa just to eat here. I give them 5 stars.

My husband and I are such big fans of UTC! You just can't beat the area with all the shops and restaurants. Everything is so close and convenient. We got to get a head start on some Christmas shopping and decided to grab a bite to eat after our shopping. We saw this place and they weren't too crowded so we stopped in and sat right down in the bar area with a perfect view of the tv for Sunday night football. We started off with a margarita as a drink and ordered the Korean fried chicken and steamed buns as an appetizer. Both appetizers were delish. We even added a side of the chili sauce and it was excellent in the wings and the steamed buns! For our rolls, we ordered California roll, Mexican deluxe, shrimp tempura and some yellow tail. Everything was done perfectly and had the best flavor. We also ordered the spicy ramen, but it was just okay, we have had better. Even though we ate so much and were so full, we ordered some dessert. We got the tempura fried cheesecake and some fried icecream. It was delicious ! We will definitely be back.

I always liked this location but lately the service has not been great. Last time we went, our order was all wrong and then, we got diarrhea and stomachache to boot. We will not be returning.

The sushi here is always underwhelming and overpriced for its quality. It tends to fall apart and is poorly made. There are other sushi spots nearby that are more affordable and genuinely authentic. The avocado eel roll is my favorite even though it is bulky and built weird. To top it off, I found a piece of metal in my order today, which I thankfully spotted before eating. While I used to enjoy the fried rice, I'm now questioning the cleanliness of this restaurant and won't be ordering again. I also received chicken in my order when I had only asked for veggie which is odd...

We had such a wonderful time! The food was delicious especially the gents sushi roll. Fern was not only an amazing server, but her personality made the night extra special. The atmosphere is relaxed. Would highly recommend.

Been here with my father twice now. One reason that we come here with my family and friends is that they have ramen. That is good and bad in my opinion. The ramen is just so so. We can have better ramen at Fushi Poke or at the newly opened JA Ramen and Curry. May be it was due to the fact that it was Monday evening, the table service was off and and on the slow side. The food quality overall I believe is somewhere between 3 and 4. There are days that are close to 4 on the food, and there are days like today that is 3 at best. Nevertheless, we will continue to come here with a small group because it is close to where we live on the east side of I-75. So it is more of a convenience than the food quality that draws us here.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon, we had the dog, so we sat on the porch. We got absolutely no grief about the dog, which was nice. In fact, they brought a bowl of water. The store was kind of busy, when we mentioned we needed a gluten-free menu, they brought one out quickly. And then the server brought out a bottle of gluten-free tamari soy sauce without us even asking. That's great service. The food came out properly, it was well Prepared. The prices for a bit on the high side, but pretty much average for that area. The parking is kind of a mess, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. My one beef is that there is only one single women's bathroom, and that is not enough for a restaurant of this size. I ended up waiting 15 minutes to get in the bathroom due to the line. All in all, I will come back next time I'm in town.

Great service, but the spicy tuna roll was very bland and small for the price. The sunomono salad was tasty.

A favorite of mine since I first visited the South Trail location in 2005. Servers and sushi chefs became friends over time. That's the kind of place it was. Times change, people move on, but the quality and creativity of the sushi (I can't honestly say about the other menu items because I haven't tried them) is consistently excellent. Have been frequenting the UTC JPan Bar most recently; low-key but great positive vibe atmosphere with awesome service. Hey, if you're younger than me the energy after 7pm is probably high! Shoutout to Luana for her gracious recommendations-she is a gem! Happy hour till 6:30 M-Th .

I came to the UTC location fought the traffic here to get a gift card for my pastor and his wife who's Mom recently passed away. They do not offer the plastic gift cards anymore! They wanted me to get an email then find out his email and send it to my email to his email and very complicated and that stinks. Ended up going someplace else of course, digital is not always best some people in the real world like things the way they were.

I am a local here in Sarasota. I've been going to Japan for seven years. They never fail To please me. I dropped in on Good Friday and ordered a ponzu yellowtail. It was great. I am on their text list for when they get Uni. Today was my lucky day. I strongly recommend this Amanda's restaurant it will not disappoint

Really good food, nice staff. Went tonight with my family, I ordered a spicy tuna pizza and eel roll, it was very good. But I also tried some leftovers from my father's Chirashi which was great. Everything was fresh and good, prices were the high standard for sushi in the area. The atmosphere and decor is like any normal sushi place you've been to in the past few years. Solid place! Recommended.

What a wonderful meal. Pork potstickers, pork belly bowl with fried rice. Ginger salad and miso soup. Miso soup had a beautiful smoky flavor. Also had the Florida roll, wrapped in rice paper. Everything was a subtle perfect flavor. Very Japanese. Understated perfection. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful. I want to go back and try every sushi option.

I got food poisoning from this place, was sick for almost two days!!! I don't think I would ever find my way back to this establishment.

Jpan is our favorite restaurant ! Whenever we want sushi or go out to eat this is our go to place . The sushi is always so fresh and well made. The seating outside is so calming and we always have the best experience here ! The best sushi you can get !

I was turned away at the door because the kitchen was backed up but there was plenty of space from what I could see. I'm never one to complain but I think this is absurd. This used to be my favorite place but from the rudeness of the hostess and being a server myself I will never come here again. Don't waste your time unless you want crappy service and to drive 35 min just to be turned away.

Good sushi, good ambience, & good service. 4* for being on the pricey side; the old fashioned is tiny because most of the glass is the ice cube. Also It is freezing inside; so uncomfortable I had to be moved outside on the patio. Other than that it is delicious.

I asked the waitress to pick her favorite 3 rolls with raw fish and they were all DELICIOUS! At tentative service and nice atmosphere. My deduction of a star was because my service felt rushed as soon as 9 PM hit.

This is a nice place, and it has Vegan options! The vegan sushi was great! The service was great and we were lucky to beat the dinner rush! The atmosphere is authentic for the restaurant and you feel the Japanese culture. One location is behind the Publix by the UPS store, across from Cinabistro on Tamiami. I'll definitely go back.

Had an early dinner and it was very good. Atmosphere was nice and the food came out quickly. My husband really enjoyed the hot rock that cooked his meat. Drinks were great as well. Would definitely return and recommend.

I love this place so much!! The hostess was so welcoming and the sever was knowledgeable about the menu, very attentive and funny.The gents roll has to be one of the best roll ever don't leave the restaurant without trying the gents roll!

Ok for a Happy Hour getaway. The Tuna hand roll was better than I've had at many places. The salmon sashimi was fresh and delicious. We did not eat anything else since we were just popping in for the $2 off beer during Happy Hour from 4-6pm. We would definitely return for more in the future.

8/14-sat at the bar for HH. Even though the menus had HH prices, we were told that HH only applied to the food menu. We asked and spoke to the Manager and she told us they would honor the HH cocktail prices. The spring rolls had no taste, the hamachi chili snd the salmon sashimi was good. The three amino rolls were average. We do not plan to go back.

Came in here for lunch with a few co workers the other day. We sat inside and I loved the ambiance. It was very clean inside and they were playing good music. I ordered the lunch special: 2 traditional rolls with the ginger salad for $15. In my opinion, that's a good deal considering how much sushi they give you. I was very surprised by how much I liked the ginger salad. For my rolls I ordered the spicy tuna and the Mexican roll. spicy tuna rolls are usually my go to when ordering at sushi restaurants because they're tasty and hard to mess up. Their spicy tuna roll was just okay. Not much spice and the tuna didn't taste so fresh. However, the Mexican roll ended up being amazing! I'd definitely come back for their lunch special and just get two of those rolls instead!

Adequate. Had nice potential food was ok. But we were celebrating my birthday like sitting next to boxes. Not magical. Prob won't be back. We talked to waitress about it being my actual birthday and she didn't say happy birthday. Really not impressed.

This is my 2nd time at the JPAN UTC location. I had to order the same rolls because they were just that delicious. For savory I ordered the Yellow Truffle which has Cucumber, avocado, cilantro, tomato topped with yellow tail and truffle soy. I meant to ask for no tomato but any amount of tomatoes was negligible. All k could taste was delicious yellowtail and truffle. I ordered a sweet roll called The Aloha- Shrimp tempura, avocado, cream cheese topped with mango and coconut flakes is so yummy. I would've given 5 stars, however, both the online menu and print menu lost the rolls as $13. When my bill arrived they were both listed as $15. I didn't have time to inquire about the $4 overcharge discrepancy. Maybe it's inflation and they just haven't updated their menu prices to reflect. My fancy cocktail was so delicious made with an infused vodka. Just a heads up: The south location doesn't have a liquor license. I'll be back for those rolls and will try a new one next time :)

Our server was lovely, accommodating, informative. She gets five stars. The food however was a huge disappointment and it did not warranted the prices charged. No one at my table was impressed. The garden salad was the best part of the dinner. The ginger soy dressing was most delicious. It went downhill after that. The gyozas were tasteless. I ordered a roll in soy paper, extra charge as expected. What wasn't expected it was made in a gelatinous rice paper. It totally destroyed any flavor that was inside. I doubt I'll be back.

Ordered sashimi&sushi combo for lunch today and got this. Salmon and one white fish was very chewy. First time had sashimi like this. Complained to the server and the manager told me that fish was supposed to be chewy. Never heard of it. Ridiculous!

The sushi was so good! The wings were good as well. The servers are very nice and fast! Food came out quick. TRY THE KFC WINGS. !

I love coming to Jpan for girls dinner. Volcano roll and mexcian deluxe is a must try!! Luana was amazing and funny.

Food was okay but overpriced for quality. Won't be going back but great friendly staff and nice location!
