This restaurant caught my attention earlier this year. I really wanted to stop by something and try their food especially the chicken waffles. After a long day of not eating, I decided to have breakfast for dinner. And the taste was absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to order here again. Maybe next time I’ll bring friends and we can dine in and share the experience.

Love the Tues through Friday dinner menu. Very well seasoned. Generous portions. The kool-aid is on point too! Takes me back to my childhood. 😋🙂 Js Breakfast Club featuring C & M great pairing. There's also live entertainment some nights. 1 negative, I'm don't like the automatic gratuity added to check even for take out orders. It's becoming a go to dinner spot for us.

Great music, hospitable staff, extraordinary food I had the shrimp and grits and asked them to add veggies (mushrooms, peppers, onions, spinach, tomatoes)

We were warmly greeted by the hostess, which set the stage for a wonderful experience. My entree was Dem Grits! My, my, my they were delicious. As other diners entered the establishment. Conversation began throughout the restaurant. It took me back to the Neighborhood Family(love) If your in the area, stop by and enjoy yourself.

I ordered the salmon croquettes, grits and eggs for pick up. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately. The owner came from the back and I spoke with her for a few minutes as well. She has a beautiful spirit and was very friendly. The food was very good, fresh and hot. I would have added a photo, but I ate it too fast. 😂😂

I was sitting at a truckwash, waiting on a load, and decided to go to this place. So far, the food is excellent. Nice little hole in the wall spot in Gary indiana near chicago. It is a black own business. So please support them. Thank you

Well, it was my first time coming to this restaurant. The hosts was so nice and manageable, and she seated us at the table with a cheerful spirit. They took a while to bring out drinks and things like that. Was she apologize because today they were shortstaffed it it took the waitress forever to come take my guest and eyes order and the food was OK but to me, it wasn’t the best. I will give this restaurant a two thumbs up because they were very nice, but I think it could’ve been a little bit better Customer Service as far as the food.

Great food, great service! Our serve Lee-Lee was great and down to earth! Very friendly till we walked in till we walked out. Great atmosphere and great food! I had the Chicken and waffles and it was off the chain. Honey dipped wings was the best I ever had! My go to place whenever I'm in town

Located just a mile north of I 80, this breakfast lunch and dinner restaurant of comfort food is a place to stop when you've got a little time to spare. The restaurant presents itself as very well maintained, with a neat exterior and interior. Dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant and on the street make for easy access. This family run restaurant is very much kickback and relaxing environment while you have some coffee. The one thing I must emphasize here is that you must not be in any hurry! Once you get past any time constraints, the food will be worth the wait. We came in and it was a solid 30 minutes before food came to the table, but in the meantime, we were provided beverages and had some time do little people watching and catch up with one another. I ordered the breakfast scramble. I have to say that the scrambled eggs that came along with this were by far the best I've ever had in my entire life! I definitely think there was a little butter in there and they were super fluffy and light. Waffles, fried chicken, eggs, sandwiches of all sorts, all cooked to order fresh. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although there was a little follow up required from time to time. I would love to come back here in the evening and try some of the menu that was offered for dinner because it just looked fantastic. Meal prices were offered in a range of how big you wanted to go! You could definitely get by with a right size portion meal for a reasonable price. Overall, a pleasant experience, but cannot emphasize : Do not plan to get in and out of here very quickly, especially during peak hours!! This location does not take reservations, but they do offer a full bar, which could make you overlook some other things. Check out J's when you're in the Gary Indiana area. Afterward, drive four minutes and see the childhood home of the Jackson 5.

This is a nice clean, friendly restaurant. I ordered the shrimp/fish over grits and it was excellent. We also had the chicken and waffles which were also delicious. They have good soul food choices on the menu, I can wait to try some other items on the menu

I am trying to learn all of the Latest Line Dances; so on Thursdays they teach Line Dances. Only $5.00 at the door and that includes finger foods. The staff members are very friendly, knowledgeable regarding the menu and provide Great customer service. The ambiance is great and they do have a private dining room. The food that I've had there is always delicious. The proprietor is very friendly and down to earth.

Everything was absolutely amazing! From the food to the service to the jams providing a soundtrack to the breakfast vibe. I loved all of it!

I had the scrimp and grits with fried catfish on top. The owner has a tremendous passion for her business . Also I enjoyed the atmosphere inside the restaurant.

Drove 30 mins on a Sunday morning to take my family here for breakfast as me and my wife wanted a very specific breakfast that this restaurant serves only on Saturday's and Sunday's, smothered pork chops. We waited a good 10 minutes before we even placed our order just to be told that they didn't start serving the smothered pork chop breakfast until 11 a.m. Sadly, we left and went to another restaurant down the street that served smothered pork chops all day. Three stars for the inconvenience.

Had the breakfast plate which was huge... good food,nice space, nice waitress and hostess.. the price was reasonable for two meals...

I had a pleasant experience for my first time. The service was good, the environment felt welcoming, and the place was clean. I came with my Grandfather, who got the Breakfast Plate and I got Chicken & Waffles. We both enjoyed our food. It was prepared hot & cooked just right. The toast wasn't too hard for him or too soft, his eggs were scrambled well (not too dry), and the sausage wasn't burnt. My chicken was perfectly crispy and flavorful--and the waffle hit the spot! I forgot, I also had the mango and pineapple smoothie; tasty and blended well. And, gramps had endless coffee (lol)! Our waitress made sure to check up on us in timely manner (not too often and not too little) and she was very well mannered. I'm glad Gary has spots like this. It needs more! Oh--and, the music choice was good as well! Keep up the good work!

From Gary & came to visit, had been seeing this all over FB! This is a super family vibes restaurant & my family enjoyed! The service was commendable! The food was good especially the chicken!! I would return.

J's opened their new location recently and I finally had a chance to visit. The new space looks really great and provides quite a bit more room. It's located right off I94 so super convenient to get to. Two words: shrimp and grits! Ah-mazing. This alone is with the visit. My son had the all meat breakfast skillet and really enjoyed it. His girlfriend had biscuits and gravy. I stole a bite. Also amazing. J's Breakfast Club should be on anyone's must eat list in NW Indiana. And their owner Joslyn Kelly is a pillar of the Gary community. J's serves more than just food, it is a true community hub and gathering place.

Definitely a must try if you are in Gary. Service is always great, they greet you as soon as you walk in. Everything we ordered was delicious. My favorite is the salmon croquettes so bomb! The interior is updated and very colorful. Come here with family for brunch and a good time!

We have been to Js before, on our way from Chicago to Massachusetts and have always enjoyed the goid food and friendly service. As a matter of fact, we again had the same breakfasts - I had breakfast skillet and my husband had the omelet. Just as goii or d as we remembered! One confusion - the address on Yelp is still the old address, which we first drove to. The new place is also on Broadway but at 2601 - even quicker to get to off of the highway. The new location is more spacious and very attractive. We will be back!

When we walked in it gave mom and pop store vibes. Which is a good thing! The owner was there and she greeted us with great energy and good vibrations The waitress was really nice and professional in her approach. We came at the last minute and they didnt make us feel rushed at all. I had the chicken wings, okra, and salmon patties! Everything taste like it was homecooked! The only complaint i have is the chicken wings were so damn small. I didn't get full off of them at all. Overall food was well seasoned and all made from scratch! This is definitely a favorite spot of mine and will come back even if i am passing through Gary!

The food was very good. The service was great. I ordered chicken & waffles, and fried green tomatoes. I enjoyed both. The chicken was seasoned perfectly. My only complaint is the size of the wings. They give you three. I would have appreciated if they had been bigger, or at least give one additional wing for the price. ($13.00). The tomatoes were excellent. No complaints there at all. I did have a problem with the fact that they wouldn't honor the Yelp check in discount. If you don't honor it, please remove it from your page.

The food was good. The service was not bad and the ambience was nice. It was very inviting and warm. I will definitely have to go back and try the salmon croquette.

The service was slow. The food that are ordered in my wife ordered wasn't even still warm by time. It came to the table. They only had two waitresses and it was a packed house. I will say that the ambience was nice. It was a warm filling, but they need to do better with their service and their food quality

This is by far my favorite breakfast place. I move out of town and came back to the area for a family event. The atmosphere is so cozy. My just is a IT guy and he was very impressed with the tech that they had. The food was so good. Fresh ingredients and large portions. Everytime I come back in town I will keep coming here for breakfast. So worth it.

While traveling through Gary, IN on a cross-country drive from L.A. to New York we were in desperate need of a home cooked breakfast and a friendly face to re-charge in preparation for the long day of driving ahead of us. And I'm so happy that we decided to stop here, everything about this place is 5-Star worthy! The staff greeted us immediately with welcoming smiles and COFFEE within 5 minutes (probably less) of walking in, absolutely 100% what we needed. Being so far from home, it was a treat to dine in such a beautifully run establishment. The restaurant boasts an extremely warm and inviting atmosphere that you feel immediately; from the beautiful decor, to the delicious aromas swirling around in the air, not to mention the soft jazz and r&b music playing that paired perfectly with the "Positive Good Morning Vibes" one can only dream for at 7am, J's breakfast club ended up being exactly what the doctor ordered, with a side of toast! lol Our server was excellent! She was super polite and her attentiveness was uniquely refreshing, it reminded me of what great service is supposed to feel like. We appreciated her genuine and friendly attitude very much. AND THE FOOD!!!! Delicious and Savory are two words that describe everything we tried that morning! Although, I have to give it up to the shrimp and grits that were executed so perfectly that I just smiled and let out a big YUMMMM after the first bite, spoken words beyond that were not required :) A MILLION Thank Yous to the entire J's family for your hospitality and for the kindness you shared with us out-of-towners while visiting your lovely city of Gary, IN.

My family and I decided to try this place out after seeing it on our local news station (channel 5). The owner gives back to local organizations/groups in her community I just wanted to go and support her for what she does. We got there and parked in the front. It's street parking and parking on the side of the building. The place is a decent side restaurant. Everyone greet you when you walk in. They do this with everyone. I know because I witnessed it sitting in the front. They had a nice selection of breakfast items but I love catfish so I got the dinner which comes with Spaghetti and 2 sides. It was good. I got my daughter a side of hash browns. She was too busy enjoying her dads pancakes. So I ate her hash brows which were good. The sweat tea was a little off in the taste. But overall I had a great experience here and if I'm in the area again I'll definitely stop again.

Food was well prepared, service was very good and the setting was comfortable. I would recommend this restaurant.

Food portions are generous, everything tastes delicious, and staff is friendly. Be aware it's not fast food, but it's food so good it's well worth the wait! Locally owned. Check it out!

The service & food was pretty good, the collar green dip was my favorite. It was a little cold in the restaurant but overall it was a nice experience.

This was my first time going here, so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't get much for what I paid for. I got their French toast and was told 4 slices but it was 2 slices cut in half. Also, the orange juice did not taste right. I won't be going here again.

Because I didn't want to have my friend drive out to Merrillville just to have a quick meal, I advised my friend that this establishment had good food. We walked in and the young lady at the counter didn't appear as if she wanted to be there let alone for us to come in. The table hadn't been wiped off and I had to ask her to wipe the table down. Except for one table, the place was deserted. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my friend ordered a skillet breakfast. I loved the shrimp and grits but my friend was not happy with the eggs in her skillet dish. The eggs were too hard. We could have looked past the overcooked eggs but it was the waitress/cashier that made the experience non enjoyable. She never smiled actually she appeared as if we were nuisances. I felt like turning around and not ever going back. Why, in Gary we can't get good consistent customer service! Everybody working at the establishment should APPEAR happy that we chose their establishment to spend our money with. Food quality for me is not enough.

I like the new location. The menu has expanded and the new dishes are great. There are more servers at this location than the previous one. Great job!

The service was poor. The young waiter was rude, and I just don't think she was having a good day. I tried to be kind. I wanted this to be a good experience, and support locally owned. However, when the burger is burnt and fries burnt too. Your out of ice tea. And still I paid top dollar. In my opinion it was not worth it. Maybe when J's Breakfast Club first opened. It was great but now, I don't recommend.

The food is good always good to call it in if you're not dining in, your wait will be shorter. The restaurant is clean and customer friendly and there is usually nice music playing .

This restaurant is off the chain the breakfast is fantastic and everything else and so socialable and people loving it hospitality is great waitresses are so mannerabl don't take all day for your food either lov it there.

Food was good but it took a while to get it. We were seated right away but i think we waited like 20 minutes before someone came to greet us. Our server was very nice it just felt like no one knew what they were doing. The room in the back was occupied so that might be the reason for the wait. The ambiance was cute and fresh. I'd come back but i have to make sure i don't have any plans after if the wait is like the first time i visited.

The Fries were burnt, the server was mean. The burger was also burnt. It was not a good experience. I didn't argue or return my order. I won't be coming here again. I did not get what I paid for. I try to support local business here in Gary unfortunately there needs to be an improvement. I don't recommend.

A great breakfast place. I had the Salmon croquette with rice and eggs. My husband had a large breakfast. Everything was cooked to perfection. Customer service was wonderful. I think our server's name was Tia she was very friendly she checked on us often. It was very crowded but they got us in and out within the normal time of any restaurant that's very busy. When we went The audience was wonderful. They had a person singing. He was very good I think it may have been a Sunday or Saturday morning. The owner Jocelyn did come out and speak to the customers to make sure everything was going okay. I like that because it gave it a personal feeling. She introduced herself and told us she was the owner. That was really nice. . I recommend you stop by J's Breakfast Club in Gary Indiana. And have breakfast you won't be disappointed.

Great Dining Experience and Gathering Place! I ordered the Shrimp and Grits that had small shrimp pieces! Our Waitress was Outstanding!

Excellent stop for lunch on the way from Indiana to Nevada! Service was awesome and the food was great. Had the breakfast bowl with grits- delicious. Husband had the breakfast sandwich - excellent. Will get that next time. Highly recommend it.

Today I tried a new dish at J's Breakfast Club and it was YUMMY!!! My tastebuds are satisfied The bowl consisted of brown rice, spinach, tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, egg whites and I had them to add bacon then I topped it off with some Texas Pete hot sauce Soooo darn good!!! Yum!!!

Everything is so good, they opening a new location i Gary . We can't wait. Food is amazing.

Since relocating from Georgia ot was important to find good places to eat with great customer service. Js Breakfast Club has both of those things covered. My family visited and the Sunday brunch was fantastic! I even had personal service from THE owner herself for a work meeting. Js has become a part of the positive experiences I share when I talk about being a new Hoosier. Thank you Js for taking care of this Georgia girl!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Get the ultra smoothie for maximum power. Coffee was excellent.

I ordered a BLT paid 9.00 only got two pieces of bacon it was not worth the money I was not satisfied with service on 9/24/2023

It's in a new location on 25th and Broadway... all Im going to say is IT'S GARY! Terrible service we waited almost an hour after being seated to be greeted. Food was 5 out of 10 and it was very GHETTO. Would recommend take out if you want to try or enjoy.

I've never waited an hour for a egg white omelette until this day here. There were only two servers and they seemed like they were up to their eyeballs in getting everyone served and there was only a few people in the establishment. They kept going over to this one table that seemed like they couldn't get his order right. When they got to our table, the order were not correct so we waited another 20 minute until my partner decided he'd take the order which he didn't order just to out of that place we spent so much time for, by the way the food was terrible. I heard they're opening another store, I hope it's nothing like this one and I hope they got some heat cause it was cold af in there.

I stopped in for breakfast and was treated to Silver Monday's as well. My breakfast was so good. My sister and I shared fried green tomatoes and hash browns. They were very good. I like my eggs scrambled medium and most restaurants can't get it right. My eggs were cooked to perfection! I will definitely go back!!!

The best hot breakfast in Gary. Modest prices and reasonable portions. If you're a big eater, buy two. It's still affordable. We had a great big breakfast from there last weekend and it was tasty. Recommend the shrimp & grits, and the salmon croquet. Restaurant is clean and cheery. Staff is on it, friendly and quick to serve. Four Stars

The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting. All patrons were friendly and the smells of the food greeted you from the street. About the food....hmmmmm...well.....the food was decent. It wasn't amazingly delicious, yet it hit the spot. I was expecting "over the top" since it took over an hour and a 1/2 to be served. The service was fair, yet accommodating, but slllooowww as molasses. My salmon croquettes and egg white omelette could have been seasoned more. Next time I try them, I'll order carry out. I think it's fair to give them another chance.

The owner is very nice. The food is very hot and tasty. I would like to see more southern entrees.

Came into town and had to stop here! The pork chop sandwich is so good. The bread is toasted to perfection and the pork chop is the perfect size. I will definitely be back again.
