Where to Find New Orleans’s Best Chicken Wings

"Located in the Seventh Ward (and Westwego), J’s is one of two shipping containers on this lot that dishes up casual eats, with a great covered patio/courtyard in the middle. It’s a cool scene, even better when you’re munching honey heat, Jamaican jerk, or Sriracha lemon pepper wings along with perfect fries. The battered crispy Buffalo wings are classic goodness. Grab a 6 piece for $6 every Wednesday." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

So disappointed I waited all this time to try this place for nothing :( first let’s start off with I ordered an 8 pc wing combo with bacon and cheese fries (combo was delivered w/ regular fries ) I also ordered a 10 pc Wing combo w/fully loaded fries and never received any fries for that at all. The wings were cooked right and a nice size but sauces were not good. Garlic Parmesan had no flavor (how can that be possible) and honey heat was so salty nothing about them was sweet or spicy. My husband did not like his honey mustard wings either. Your experience may be better but sadly we will not be back. Stop charging all these high prices for this type of service!!

Google
Great concept using containers and it even had separate containers for a bar and ice cream/cookie shop. Wanted to love this, but wings were ok. Lemon pepper were way too salty and could hardly decipher between the other 2 flavors: hot sauce (not saucy at all) and honey glazed (hardly sticky). Very disorganized ordering, had difficulty adding a beer as a combo to my order and then after going across to the bar area, no one was there. After finally flagging someone down to get the beer, only 1 of 3 drafts were working so not much of a choice. Cute space, but food won't be bringing me back.

Google
We were in town and decided to try this establishment. My first time experience was wonderful. I ordered boneless honey bbq wings, fries, and strawberry lemonade. Although the lemonade didn’t have any ice in the cup it was still delicious. I will definitely return when in the area.

We went here and it was great. The customer service was fantastic: we were greeted immediately upon entry, we went outside to eat and the cashier was kind enough to wipe our table and seats (because it had rained) We got 15 wings (5 Jerk wings and 10 Lemon pepper). The wings were quite small and very salty but when you dip them in the dipping sauce (see picture) it wasn't AS salty. The sauce for the Jerk wings were salty as well. Maybe next time we will ask them the go little light on the flavor. All and all we enjoyed our visit and would try them again. This place has a bar, an cookie and ice cream shoppe and the wing store.

I love the fact the manager made sure everyone was social distancing and had on mask ......Delicious wings and fries .awesome customer service! excuse the sloppy pics I started eating before I took the pics! Lemon pepper , jerk . Honey heat and Parmesano

Google
This place used to be good. But then they expanded, and they’ve been bad since. The chicken is good, but my last three orders were wrong. There is no quality control. And this last order: I ordered a 10 piece and fries. I did not receive any fries. My 10 piece was the better suggestion of chicken. For $17.50, I received the smallest pieces of chicken I have ever seen. I should have leftovers. I don’t even have enough food to not still be hungry.

Google
I ordered a 15 piece boneless wings. This is what I got. Paid for extra blue cheese, got none at all. This is NOT worth $40

Google
The food was delicious. The wings were seasoned really well and also a decent size. The fries were good but opt for the plain because the seasoned fries are a little salty. The ranch with lemon pepper was chef kiss . The price was a little steep honestly $15 but all in all the food was good and hot.

Yelp
Best wings in New Orleans make sure you stop and get you some flats . So good make u wanna buy another order
google avatar

Gregg N.

Yelp
I let my eyes order! Grabbed 2 6pc and fries deal. They were good but seating was outdoors and the flies were bothersome. IF you decided to eat in, there's not enough space to be comfortable... so eat outside or get it to-go.

Yelp
Stopped here for some wings. We ordered a 20 piece with half lemon pepper & half honey hot. The 20 piece was about $29. We paid $3 extra for all flats & to our surprise, we did not get all flats. We're visiting so we took a Lyft to & from the restaurant. We didn't open our box until getting back to the room to keep the food as warm as possible. After calling back in to inform them of the mistake they offered for us to bring them back to be remade.. typically that would be fine but again, we're visiting & took two Lyfts. After explaining this, we asked if we could just be refunded the $3 for the flats. Our phone number was recorded & we were told we would get a call back after speaking with the manager but that didn't happen. The wings came out very quickly, we didn't wait more than 5 minutes. The lady helping us out was very helpful with helping us pick out our flavors. Both flavors tasted very similar which is kinda ehhh but we rolled with it since we were hungry & they didn't taste bad. The fries were good & I know if we'd eaten there they would've been even better. There's little seating inside & also a seating area outside. I would give them a 3/5 for taste & but I had to dock bc for one, $3 for flats is a bit much & two, we didn't even get all flats.

Yelp
We craved wings but wanted local flair and not wings from a chain restaurant. J's Creole fit the bill and it was nearby while vacationing in NOLA. Created from shipping containers, the space is uniquely colorful and cute. The indoor dining space is really limited but they have a small covered outdoor patio. We lunched on the patio. It was calm and serene despite being near a major expressway. The wings had ample meat with marvelous flavor. I ordered a set of 8 wings with choice of 2 seasonings (Creole and Garlic Parmesan) with fries. My husband ordered boneless wings with creole and honey heat. Creole seasoning was a little sweet and unexpected however it was interesting to try. J's fruit punch was refreshing as it has a hint of pineapple. Glad we were able to try this spot. They have good food with good prices. They don't have a dedicated parking lot but spots are easy to find during weekdays on the street.

Yelp
The restaurant has very limited seating, so be prepared to take out. Service was real quick though. Hands down the best chicken wings in NOLA.

Shanedyra D.

Yelp
Soo good. Fresh, nice size wings. Well seasoned. My lemon pepper may have had a tab but too much for my liking but they were delicious. Fries were fresh and seasoned. Service was quick. Cute lil setup. Highly recommend. Support your local businesses.
google avatar

Fernando G.

Yelp
The wings are okay! I enjoyed them. The ranch was a little bit and then you get charged for another one but overall it was nice. Service was good and the little area built with storage containers is nice.

Yelp
Food is always a 10/10 As far as customer service Racquel needs a better phone presence she was very rude didn't seem like she wanted to be at work and has a nasty attitude then wants to ask if we wanted to tip we said NO! I suggest hiring workers who actually want to work. This is our third time having J's and we have yet to receive our ranch They also need to invest in bigger to go boxes for $6 wingsday
google avatar

Dennis W.

Yelp
The food is Always fresh always the cashier and cooks always greet with a smile and if you step out or sit outside they will bring your food to you love the passion they have at this spot

Yelp
This place is so great! It's such a cute setup with the shipping containers and outdoor area, the lady at the front is AMAZING!! The flavors are really good, I wish there was a little more heat in the Jamaican jerk but overall an awesome place! We'll absolutely be back.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
I went to the Westbank location, and unfortunately it's not on yelp yet. But I do have to say these wings and fries are great! I've been wanting a wing place for a while that's not BWW or Hooters (both suck). Service was pretty fast. It's a shipping container;so, there's not much to the restaurant in terms of ambiance. I've picked up my order both times. Definitely recommend the Creole rub and honey heat if you don't like too much sauce on the wings! The seasoned fries are tasty and crunchy! We will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Mandy C.

Yelp
Was visiting from NC and stumbled on this place. One of the best wings we've ever had. Sauces are fire and wings are a nice size and cooked really well. Wish we had this in NC!

Gabriel D.

Yelp
Best wings in the whole damn city! Herbs sprinkled on crispy non breaded wings. Is an absolute must for any real aficionado of wings. The ranch was heavenly and I wish I still lived in the city to grab a bite. I'd give this place an 11/10 if I could.
google avatar

Darnell L.

Yelp
I think these wings were good but not great. I think this is more for people who enjoyed heavier seasoned wings. I like my wings but couldn't eat too many. The fries were good as well. The place wasn't to be inside but the customer was good. I would recommend to friends. Only suggestion would be to maybe turn down the AC and get the table fixed on the inside for customers who want to sit inside.

Yelp
Food is good but the service is trash and the employees are very unorganized. Long waits due to the lack of organization. There's multiple people in and out of the kitchen, and you cant tell who's doing what. Theres a chubby light skinned dude who carries in packages, then goes into the kitchen and comes out eating wings. Shit is wild. Also worth noting I sat there for 30 mins, and didnt see a single employee wash their hands once. If you can deal with all the nonsense, then id say go head and try the wings.
google avatar

Brionne B.

Yelp
The food was so good! The customer service was excellent. The wings were big and tasty! I've been here so many times. One of the managers even walked me to my car once in the rain to make sure I didn't drop my food. Everybody ain't doing all that! I'll be back!

Yelp
I discovered J's several years ago before they opened. They had just put the containers in place and my belly was ready for a happy. But, I moved back to Tennessee (and girl, for why??) and it fell off my foodie radar. But this week I spent a few days working from New Orleans and a friend suggested it for my last meal before heading out. MANE IT WAS SO GOOD. Here are a few things to know before you go: 1. Containers are neat, but they're small (and kind of hot with that heat coming out of the kitchen). There's an outdoor patio with shade, but without a breeze it'll feel like a hotbox. There were a lot of flies (they wanted some of those wings, too), so between the heat and insects, an industrial fan would've been perfect. We saw several people getting their food to go and wondered why we didn't think of that. 2. I had the 6 piece combo which came with two wing flavors, fries, ranch and a drink. BUT...I paid $3 extra to upgrade to a beer and it was worth it. I got a pint of Hopitoulas, which can be anywhere from $5-7 elsewhere. I did the creole rub and island jerk wings and not only were they amazing: THEY GAVE ME ALL FLATS After tip -- yes, please tip the people taking your order!! -- I paid $20 for my food. Pricey, but satisfying. 3. MORE THAN WINGS! J's is actually three places in one: a wing spot, a beer garden and a dessert shop. Like, who came up with this perfect idea! There's something for everyone. To sum this thang up, go visit. But bring a personal fan if you decide to sit outside.
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
They are great for catering. The strawberry lemonade was so good! Not too sweet and so tasty. The wings were a little salty for me but all of my friends loves them
google avatar

Russell W.

Yelp
Super long wait for cold fries and the saltiest wings I've ever had. So salty we couldn't eat them.
google avatar

Mac P.

Yelp
I only go here when I want to splurge. May very well be the best wings in city. Just wish the prices were better.
google avatar

Nandi A.

Yelp
Love J's Wings! The wings are always perfectly crispy and not terribly hard to bite into. My favorite flavors are Island Jerk and Sweet Heat, and their Blue Cheese actually surprised me this visit.
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
This really pains me to say but I had the classic wings today and it was crazy with salt. I think the place is clean. The employees were very nice. I'll definitely try it again because I may have caught them on an off day. I say this more for constructive criticism.
google avatar

Jono B.

Yelp
Customer service was great (it was a guy in a Jesuit shirt, he was real cool). Their punch and strawberry lemonade is ELITE! The wings are good too, not the best I've ever had (I like my wings wet) but they were delicious. I will definitely frequent this place again.
google avatar

Hillary C.

Yelp
Dont get me wrong the food is good, but the quantities have decreased and it's starting to not match the prices. Got fries and they didn't have as much fries as they used to. On top of that, I ordered through the phone 20 mins before arrival and there was no one in the front. Made it there and they still didn't finish the fries. Service is 70/30 not 50/50. Mostly good. Ambiance is cool, love the shipping container idea.

Yelp
Came on a Wednesday for their $6 Wednesday special (6 wings & fries) and boy was it busy! The place is small, but there was plenty of hand sanitizer, a plastic barrier at the register, and everyone I saw wore masks. Plus there's an outdoor courtyard that's more spacious where you can wait for your food after you order. So as far as COVID precautions, J's Creole Wings passes! For my Wednesday special, I chose garlic parmesan classic wings with seasoned fries (other option is plain fries) and a side of ranch for the veggie sticks (other option is blue cheese ranch). They brought my order to me outside, which was nice. Got home and was pleased that they threw in ketchup packets for the fries and some thick, sturdy napkins! Now as for the taste... soooo salty! I was guzzling water with every bite. Perhaps I chose a bad flavor, but it was like these wings were showered in salt. The fries were just average. The meat on the wings themselves were good and juicy, but the saltiness just was too much. This was only my first experience with J's so I don't want to write them off just yet though. I plan on coming back and trying a different flavor -- that $6 Wednesday wing special is just too good of a deal!

Thaddeus T.

Yelp
Horrible customer service order online got home it was boneless wings instead of the bone in wings I ordered. I called them to tell them that my order was wrong and they needed to fix it they would not honor it instructed me to go thru grub hub. Ruined my wife's birthday and I've been a long term customer. Will never go again!
google avatar

Yelp
After a weekend of eating all the seafood NOLA had to offer, my partner was craving some wings. I found this place on Google and was so happy I came here. The food was made to order and everything was hot and fresh. There was so much flavor in the sauce and the wings. The creole rub was my fav because the hint of sweetness from the brown sugar. The food definitely lives up to the hype.
google avatar

Brett W.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Stopped in by chance on a walk and fell in love with their creole run. Highly recommended for a delicious and quick bite.
google avatar

Destinique D.

Yelp
I've been trying to get here since they opened and I've heard great things about them. I finally went yesterday and the customer service was great and I didn't have a long wait at all. The strawberry lemonade was amazing you could tell it was fresh and not too sweet. The wings I wasn't really impressed with I got the jerk and Cajun. I'll go back and try different flavors but I didn't care much for the flavors I tried
google avatar

Cameron G.

Yelp
I ordered J's online due to COVID but it was a simple process, and when I came to the trailers, my food was ready! Staff was nice and greeted me when I came in, told them I was coming for pick-up and I was on my way. The wings and fries were good. Them suckas had some meat on them! I also got the fruit punch which was really sweet! There are 2 container trailers (green and blue) that where converted into his restaurant. There's a lil court yard in between the trailers for eating and one of the trailers, which was closed at the time, looked like it was a bar.

Yelp
OMG DELICIOUS! The flavor is remarkable of these wings. I like the honey heat and bbq wings and my husband loves the creole wings. I am telling you the location is perfect. Cute outdoor space and setup for customers to enjoy wings, watch games and drink beer. The creole fries are also really tasty.

Yaz S.

Yelp
This place just isn't good. I tried out J's when they first opened up years ago. I wasn't "wow'd" then. I decided to give them another try. This time I'm really just trying not to be upset. I feel like I just got ripped tf off. The fries ($4.60 before tax) was a tiny order of what looked and tasted like the fries you can buy at the grocery store in the freezer aisle. They were cold on arrival (I ordered via postmates). They looked bad and tasted worse. The wings.....o Lord....they were AWFUL and way overpriced. I understand there is a "wing shortage," but...$17.45 (before tax) for a 10 piece??! At that price the wings better be the best I've ever had..sadly, they were far from it. The wings were teeny tiny and the flavors were so boring. Spicy buffalo wasn't spicy at all. Hot honey barely had any flavor. My 15 piece order of wings came with 1 little celery stick section and 1 baby carrot. $.75 cent for a side order of blue cheese. J's is exclusively a WING restaurant. It's really sad that they can't get the one thing they offer on their menu right. If you're a wing connoisseur like me, skip this place and head to Blue Oak. Hell, even Vieux Carre's wings are better than here. And Turtle Bay. Don't waste your money, like I did!
google avatar

Rayshawn R.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. I did a few days ago and one of the best wings and fries I had.. I did the garlic Parmesan and Cajun run I think it was. I did delivery but I can't wait to try again

Yelp
This place in a gem. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Food was hot and fresh. Establishment was very clean and follow all Covid safety protocols.

Yelp
Black owned Friday!! My son and I love chicken! I mean, we can eat chicken several days out the week and still not be tired of it. So for lunch sometimes we grab a bite at @jscreolewings and it hits the spot! I love a great family owned business and this family is jack of all trades. I even have personal history with them (tbt lol). Years ago, I was on a cheerleading team they owned. We definitely go way back. The building design they have created for this spot is pretty unique. The restaurant is three connected, repurposed storage containers, and each one is a different spot. I haven't seen anything else like it! I typically order six piece wings and fries with their famous Js fruit punch. My favorite flavored wings would definitely have to be Honey Heat. The flavor is a very settled sweetness and a hint of heat. My favorite part is when the sauce runs on the fries. It's just perfect! The wings also come with their very creamy house made ranch, accompanied by celery and carrots. I've had a few other flavors, and my least favorite would be Island Jerk. I can definitely say I do not get even a hint of jerk out of this sauce. Instead of it being smoky, it's more tangy and they add a little seasoning on top and it just doesn't do it for me. Overall, I think it has a unique concept, bright colors, food court vibes, and very warm and welcoming atmosphere! Food Service Location

Kendall M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Everything was fresh and timely. The staff was very friendly and professional on the phone and in-person. I highly recommend and would definitely be back soon.

Yelp
OH MY GOD ... BEST IN THE CITY ... Awesome Had a foodie list of places to try when visiting the city. We enter our uber and are turned around looking for this place. Area a little rough around the edges and when you see the crates you have no idea you are in the right spot til you see people walking out with bags of food. Thankful for the small seating area. While my friends wanted to grab an order of everything I took a seat and fell knee deep in my food. The fries alone started this fanatic foundation of good food to come. It's the time of place you want to keep to yourself. i almost didn't want to write a review because I don't want anyone tell me to grab them some food when I go for myself. Really it's that good, especially the creole rub or the honey hot bbq. Good Service Great Food
google avatar

Roane H.

Yelp
Fantastic wings! Not soggy with sauce like so many places that don't know how to cook wings!
google avatar

Shalon P.

Yelp
Idk how I've never reviewed them before. They're my go to wing place. Wings are always fried hard just like I like them. Too often wing places don't cook their wings well enough for my liking so I typically stay away. J's always fries them up perfectly. Service is always friendly. There's even a beer garden next door, tho I've never gone over there. And the building being a shipping container is probably the cutest thing ever! Anyway, I'll definitely be back. I'll always be back

Yelp
Owners are awful. Chicken is over priced. I listened to the way I guess the manager or owner spoke to the employees. Awful. All around terrible experience and awful experience. Better places in the New Orleans area to eat that are run by better owners. This is a catastrophe!!!! 0/10 do not recommend.
google avatar

Kassidy D.

Yelp
I had been looking forward to visiting this place but it sadly missed the mark for me. I ordered an 8 piece boneless wing combo and fries. Fries were left out completely. The wings come in a card board box with the fries underneath them. You can imagine how heart broken i was when I got home and discovered my fries weren't there. I was able to bring my receipt back and get them without any hassle. My boneless wings were rock hard! The sauce was good but I couldn't finish them. They were too hard to eat. The fries were hot and fresh since they were made on the spot. I am willing to give this place a second chance. Will update my review if I do.
google avatar

Khian R.

Yelp
This little gem is delicious. I stopped in while passing through New Orleans. The garlic parmesan wings and fries were hot and amazing. My only issue was the extremely long wait. There was lots of delivery orders going out so we waited a while for our order. We were able to sit out on the patio in between the containers. There is also a brewery and cookie and ice-cream container attached. I would like to try other flavors but Ill order ahead next time.
google avatar

Yelp
This place should be illegal. That food is so mf good I had it for lunch and dinner every day for a week while working storm. If y'all see this on your page holler at me and send me some seasoning because I forgot. 10/10 for the creole rub wings. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Robin L.

Yelp
I've ordered from here a few times and have had nothing but consistent, amazing experiences. I placed my order online and within 3minutes I got a phone call that my order might be canceled. They had run out of boneless wings but were waiting on a truck to bring more. The lady said she'd call back because she didn't want to disappoint us and have to cancel. Welp 5 mins later she called back like promised with good new my food was ready for pickup ! I was so empressed with the communication and customer service they showed. I really appreciated them going the extra mile instead of cancelling and not giving a explanation. I throughly enjoyed my Honey Heat wings and fries !

Yelp
This place wasn't terrible but it wasn't the best wings I've ever had. I'm more of a crispy chicken wings type of person. Service (5/5): the chick at the register was super nice. We were taking a while to figure out what to order so she was very patient with us. She didn't look annoyed or anything so I would say that's good service! She brought out everything that we asked for so let's leave it at that. Food (3/5): if you're not a sweet and savory type of person don't order the Creole Rub! I'm that person that likes sweet and savory but my bf isn't. The chicken was juicy which is why I liked this place but if it was crispier I wouldn't gave it a better rating. The wing combo we ordered was the 6 pieces for $6, which was a pretty good deal. It comes with fries! We ordered the Rosemary garlic parmesan friea for a $3 upcharge. NOT WORTH IT!! The fries were extremely salty. Like super salty.. DONT ORDER IT lol. The combo comes with celery and carrots too but let me tell you this.. they were skimpy with it. In the picture I posted you can see they literally give you ONE celery stick and ONE carrot stick. Honestly, carrots and celery aren't that expensive.. could've gave us more there. Overall, the lemon pepper and croele dry rubs were pretty good. I didn't want to be mean and give them three stars because my experience wasn't terrible. However, I probably wouldn't crave this place and come back for their wings.

Yelp
The best wing spot in NOLA. We got a wing combo and the bacon ranch fries everything was perfect!! We got The sriracha lemon pepper and omg!!! I wish I could come here everyday! Such a chill spot to grab a bite before heading to bourbon st. Our Uber was taking long to pick us up so we were there after they closed, the gentleman putting up the patio provided us chairs while we waited for our life. Super sweet of him! 100000/10!!

Anthony W.

Yelp
I will not go back to this establishment. I am not sure if the original owners are still in charge. The one thing above all else for me is customer service. About a weak ago, I stopped to get a wing combo. After getting my order, which was an 8 piece with fries and drink, half spicy and half plain. The issue is that when I got home, the order was all plain. I called the restaurant and spoke with the person at the counter who had waited on me. After a minute or so, i was told that I did have spicy, they were juse lightly sauced. Long story short, none of the wings were anywhere near spicy. If you make a mistake, just say it was a mistake. Please do not lie about it. My advice is to check your order before you leave, because it you do not, you may be told that you have something you do not. Such a pity.
google avatar

Shanita F.

Yelp
Friendly and vibrant staff. Very cool and hip setup. The have a tv outside, so it's a cool spot to get a drink and watch a live event showing. There's street parking that was completely empty when I arrive (~9:30 pm on a Friday). One of the best wing spots in the city. I had the sriracha lemon pepper and the garlic Parmesan. They. Were. So. Darn. Good!!! I did not know how much I needed that wonderful combo of spicy and salty! Very well done! The garlic parm had a wet sauce that was also very good but a little too salty--it's not going to stop me from ordering it again. I can't wait to come back to try new flavors and the drinks! This would be a cute casual date spot

Yelp
Sauce on wings was not good at all. Fries was good. Strawberry lemonade waist too. Wouldn't go back .

Ordered the 50 pc wings for a small gathering. The wings were a huge hit. My friends kept asking "where'd you say you got these wings?" Lol The service was also fantastic and the food was ready when we arrived for pick up. And we loved all of the flavors we got! See my individual ratings below. Highly recommend!!! Flavors and ratings: *Spicy hot 4/5 *Sriracha lemon pepper 5/5 *Honey heat 5/5 *Island jerk 4/5
