J’s Mini Hot Pot - Review - Duluth - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"After J’s Mini Hot Pot's original Buford Highway location closed after 21 years, their newly renovated Duluth location is now the only one remaining. But this location still keeps the original essence with a comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere, bright interior, and cheery, colorful pots that make us feel like we’ve got all the time in the world. And that’s great because combos come with huge bowls of vegetables and noodles that’ll take some time to work through. As far as the combos, we love the sliced lamb—so juicy and tender it nearly melts. For a lighter option, get the flaky fish slices. Or dabble in a little of each since J’s offers individual pots in addition to their family-style communal pots." - Candy Hom

Google
A thoroughly enjoyable meal in a beautiful space. We got a vegetarian hot pot with the schzeuan broth. I really enjoyed the beauty tea with little bits of fruit and flowers floating in the pot. We love the shrimp paste, and it was very good here! We also got a tofu sampler and a lamb and dumpling entree. I really enjoy putting together the sauces and cooking it. Hot pot is a lot of fun to eat and I don't particularly like the buffets. The veggie plate that comes with every entree was really nice too. I definitely recommend.

Google
Fantastic place for a wagyu hotpot lunch! This place is a lot larger on the inside than it looks. Our server, Mary, was very nice and descriptive of what to expect. I am glad they substituted a large veggie plate for a small meat plate. The bar with sauces they offer is incredible! I just wish they gave you metal chopsticks vs wooden ones.

Google
I love coming to J Mini Hot Pot! The soups are always so flavorful, and the meats and vegetables are fresh every time I visit. The sauce bar is amazing—there are so many unique flavors to try, and it really makes the meal special. The owner is super friendly and always makes sure everyone has a great experience. Highly recommend if you’re looking for delicious hot pot and great service!

Google
This is hands down the best hotpot in town. I love their Angus beef brisket and in-house sauce. They also offer fresh vegetables and seafood platters, making it perfect for a rainy or cold day when you want to enjoy good food and a good time with your family while cooking your hotpot. The staff provides excellent service as well. It is not unlimited.

Meat and vegetables are super fresh, the self help sauce area is full of pleasant surprises, especially the home made garlic chilly sauce, omg, amazing.

I finally tried hot pot, and it was amazing! They have a halal menu, you just gotta ask, and a whole section for sauce(which i LOVE). Definitely recommend coming to try.

Google
If you're a first-timer for Hot Pot, I think J's is the perfect place to start. The menu may seem overwhelming, but the staff are very kind and will gladly explain everything to you. You can order your set of ingredients (usually the type of meat, plus a set of noodles, egg, and an assortment of vegetables) that comes nicely put together for you and eliminates too much decision you may face at other places. As this is Mini, it's your own portion, and you can add what you'd like to your own soup. The ingredients are great in variety, and it's certainly a large portion. There is an option to do it à la carte, however this can quickly get expensive with the way their menu is set up. The atmosphere was very nice, we did not feel rushed, and everything tasted amazing, with the addition of their spice/sauce bar. I recommend this to anyone looking to try Hot Pot for the first time!

Google
SO. MUCH. FOOD! The food was excellent quality and the service was above and beyond. I went as a group of very diverse tastes and they really catered to us all. We had so much fun and it really was such an enriching experience, bringing us together and enjoying food together. We made such wonderful memories there that day. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Came back to J's Mini Hot Pot with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed it! We have very different taste preferences, he prefers very spicy while I prefer a mild broth and adding spice on the back end, so it was perfect that we could each have our own pot. I went with the Beef Bone broth this time, as it was no upcharge. I will say, tasting the broth alone didn't taste like much, so just be prepared to add flavor from making your own sauce. The service here is great - they're fast, attentive, and regularly check in on you. Our server packed all of our food to go in an organized manner. It was so nice to enjoy our food, not have to worry about packing it, and then leaving with neatly packed to-go bags. I love love love that they provide complimentary aprons! It's so helpful and a great plus on the customer experience. Will continue to keep this place on my radar due to the good food and service! The pricing is also pretty decent - my entree was $23.99 pre-tax + tip. It's a massive amount of food!

Yelp
My daughter chose J's Mini Hot Pot after a hard audition as something to cheer her up. We were not disappointed! We arrived close to opening time and were sat right away. I loved the beautiful ceramic bowl holders that were set up at our table. There are individual burners and a share sized burner in the middle. Our server made a big impression by going the extra mile to help us order making sure that we got just the right ratio of vegetables to meat. They have an extensive sauce bar which also offers fresh toppings for flavoring your broth. Again, our server came through for us by mixing individual servings of her special sauce. Highly recommend giving that a try! We ordered chicken, pork belly and steak for our meats with chicken and beef broths with yellow and rice noodles. A giant bowl of fresh vegetables is included. I didn't know what a couple of the veggies were but it was fun trying them all. We also ordered edamame which was tasty. From the cleanliness and welcoming decor to the service that was just the right amount of attention to the wonderfully fresh food this was a top notch experience! I had such a great time, I forgot to take pictures, next time tho!

Yelp
I visited J's Mini Hot Pot with my coworker for my first ever hot pot experience and I'm hooked! We arrived early in the evening and were greeted immediately. We chose our table and the waitress gave us a run down of the extensive menu. I ordered the miso broth, the combo of peeled shrimp & angus brisket, and udon noodles. I was so impressed by the amount of fresh vegetables they provide. I definitely ate all the cabbage and spinach and gave the other vegetables a taste. The shrimp and brisket was fresh and complimented the broth perfectly. My favorite part of the experience is definitely the plethora of sauces they provide. We were there for at least two hours just savoring all the tastiness. There's so many different combinations that you can make for your hot pot so I know I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
J's Mini Hot Pot's first location has somewhat of a legendary status in Georgia: it was the first Hot Pot restaurant in the state in 2004. Today, this second outpost of the much beloved restaurant is located in...you guessed it: a strip mall in Duluth. Where J's differs from other hot pot options is that all the ingredients to add to the soup except sauces are brought to guests at the table. This adds a layer of safety for those who tend to throw every oddity into a soup to create a mixture that is too wild to enjoy. The people here are extremely kind, with the waitress offering to make a special house sauce for the hot pot, mixing a dozen sauces from the sauce bar. The result was surprisingly pleasant. Another beautiful thing about J's is that all the vegetables are extremely fresh. The only minor criticism is that the beef brought for the signature hot pot is a bit on the tougher side, but the hot pot as a whole was still very tasty. The ceramic exteriors of the hot pots at J's add a signature element of beauty here. Thus, for all intends and purposes, J's is likely to remain a beloved institution in the city despite the countless new options now in the area.

Yelp
My family and friends have been coming here for over 15 years. Best customer service and quality of ingredients. You won't find broth and sauces as good what they have here. I drive 45 mins one way and it's worth it.

Yelp
Food is good, look up your sauce recipe before you go! I got the surf and turf: clams and beef. I love getting clams here because they are so big and doesn't take long to cook. The presentation of the veggies are nice I just wish they would practice better utensil upkeep. My spoons were cracked all over the edge

Yelp
Halal Food Alert | J's Mini Hot Pot Looking for a halal-friendly hot pot spot? Each guest gets their own personal hot pot, making the experience both interactive and customizable. The ingredients were super fresh and beautifully presented. The marbled beef and lamb slices literally melted into the broth, the enoki mushrooms added a great texture, and the dumplings were soft, delicate, and packed with flavor. Bonus: the herb selection added refreshing aromatics that elevated the whole experience. But what truly stood out was the service, friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for a family dinner, casual hangout, or even a solo foodie adventure. We paid $180 for 5 people -- totally worth it for the quality, quantity, and halal assurance. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Averaged at $25 person for something that mass produced and self cook self served while forcing a tip with no choice at the end is a bit standing out and uncomfortable. Be prepared...

Yelp
I was so excited to go eat hot pot since I love soup. My friend brought me here to have a fun experience while eating delicious food. As we entered the place we got greeted by the lovely servers. Everyone was so nice and so on point. We sat on our table and ordered, I got the vegetarian hot pot with the mushroom broth. I was very surprised to see how much food they gave but was very happy to eat it. We were also able to bring some soju (there is a corkage fee) since they don't sell it there and it went so well with the food. The overall ambiance of the place was very chill and happy. I enjoyed eating here a lot.

Yelp
J's Mini Hot Pot has never disappointed me. This place offers high quality ingredients, meats, and even wagyu! From a variety of broths to choose from and entrees, J's Mini Hot Pot delivers an exceptional hot pot experience. The waitresses are nice, efficient, and--most importantly--hospitable. With this duluth location being newly built last year (2023), the place is spectacular. The floor, table, interior decor, everything is new and shiny. Definitely a top 3 hot pot spot in Duluth!

Yelp
We all got the beef. My son and husband got the beef bone broth. I got the miso broth. It comes with an assortment of veggies, tofu, noodles, fish ball etc. You can add all sorts of noodles, vegetables, meats, and seafood. The sauce bar is kept well stocked and tidy. The restaurant is comfortable and well lit. Service was nice. Great dinner experience on a cold day!

Yelp
This was my first atlanta hot pot experience and the food was fresh and warming to my soul. Lots of flavor options at their sauce and topping bar to jazz up your broth. It's a little pricey and service is not that friendly but very clean and well lit.

Yelp
This place reopened since the COVID shut down and it's soooo beautiful inside! I did notice a 3-5$ increase in prices but still okay and worth the experience. We got chicken hot pot "combos" where it comes with chicken hot dogs, Napa cabbage, taro, potato, egg, mushroom, pickles, spinach, radish daikon, tofu in diff forms, potato noodles (clear) and lots of slices of chicken. You choose your broth and I chose vegetarian - $22-ish - 5/5 The sauce bar is where you can customize your dipping sauce very clean! They no longer give the shaved ice dessert at the end instead we were given a little yogurt drink like authentic hot places back home do! I will def be back again and again, customer service 5/5

Yelp
Came here for lunch last week. We ordered the beef bone soup, herbal soup, clam and meat combo, seafood hot pot. Seafood and meat was fresh served on ice. I really like that. Presentation is beautiful as well. Portion wise is perfect and more than enough vegetables. I like my vegetables so it was great. Black milk tea with grass jelly was so good. I like that the teas were on mason jars with handles. Service was great; attentive; and quick to refill our soup base once we run out. Nicely renovated since I haven't been back here for few years. This is great portion hot pot. I was definitely stuffed to the max. Many choices on the menu. You can order a la carte if you only want to eat certain foods or picky. There are even vegetarian options.

Yelp
I give this place 5 stars, it's my go to hotpot place, the broth is good and the meat quality is very good. I love the sauce bar and the service is amazing the workers are very kind. The inside is always clean and their new interior looks good!

Yelp
I decided to challenge myself on a different style of food and I found this little place I believe so I can Chinatown in Georgia, but it was a very good experience. The hostess was sweet. She was awesome. She helped me prepare. She explained everything to me on the food process, had to get your food how to set things up what sauce add to certain flavors and she was just awesome, I recommend this place just for experience and really good deal. I like it and enjoyed it and it's good and highly recommended.

Yelp
This is the OG mini hot pot spot in Duluth that will forever have a place in my foodie heart. I used to frequent here at least 1-2 times a week before I moved to the city. Nothing beats having your own individually made hot pot. The sauce bar (buffet style) makes for the best experience as you can mix your favorite sauce combo and pour it into your broth. I usually make myself a broth mix and a dipping sauce as well. There are a ton of premade sauces that you can go for if you aren't sure what to get! Recently renovated, I'm loving the clean new vibe. Pro tip and speaking from experience - don't wear a white tee! ;) Or if you do, definitely ask for one of their disposable aprons. Genius!

Yelp
A white girl and Korean walk into Chinese hot pot for the first time. This is how it panned out... Things you should know: I. PARKING J's Mini is within a plaza and shares a free private parking lot with the adjacent businesses. Easy. II. SERVICE We found solace in the gracious guidance of our waitress since we didn't know what the heck we were doing. To be honest, everything is labelled in a straightforward manner on the menu ~ it even tells you the cook times for the given ingredients! So helpful..! But we probably still ate things oddly, occasionally wrapping some of the cooked ingredients in the nappa cabbage as if we were at KBBQ. The middle section of the restaurant is the sauce bar--where bias meets bliss--the Korean sauce stole our taste buds. III. QUALITY Portions are massive. You won't leave hungry, that's for sure! Everything appeared & tasted fresh. IV. CAPACITY For a weekend night around 8pm, there was a modest wait for about 5 minutes to seat the two of us.

Yelp
A fairly new hot pot spot in Duluth, I went to go try J's. Went around 7:40pm on a Wednesday and there was a 20-30 minute wait. Once we got a table there was a lot of confusion on the menu. If you order your own personal hotpot the cost of most items is about $20. However, ordering family style was very confusing. There was a fee of $10.99 per person if each person ordered less than $20 worth of food. Avoiding these confusing calculations we just ordered individual hotpot's. I ordered the angus beef with the Szechuan Hot broth. I did enjoy the broth and the beef but the veggie sides were loaded with fillers (cabbage, etc) and lacked quantity in other items. There was sausage in the veggie bowl which it did not state anywhere on the menu (I have dietary restrictions). There's a lot of confusion and difficulty in communicating with staff members which caused a lot of problems when we were splitting the bill

Yelp
I loved everything about the service and the interior of this place. The servers frequently came back to check up on me. The plates, bowls and the tables were really clean! Also the serving size was pretty generous and left me very full after the meal. However, I personally felt like the food did not live up to my expectation. The main aspect I was disappointed about was the quality of the meat. It felt weirdly spongey and like wet paper, especially the lamb. Next, the beef bone broth was kind of flavorless. I know that the ingredients I put in are supposed to deepen the flavor but it felt like I was just eating food dipped in plain water in the beginning. Finally, the veggie platter had too much napa cabbage. You can't see the cabbage at first but there's a pile hiding on the bottom. You are in luck if you like having lots of kappa cabbage in your hot pot but I personally would've enjoyed having more of the other ingredients.

Yelp
There are some places I would just never think to eat, and so I'm thankful my sister & niece know a few unique options. This was truly a unique experience! Location is off Pleasant Hill Rd, past the mall, in a double story strip mall. Parking is not plenty here, due to all the other businesses and limited parking spots. All tables here have electric burners for your hot pot. I was a little confused on ordering but thankfully my sister had been here a few times. Basically, you pick the broth you want and then chose your protein package or vegetarian. Most plates come with spinach/cabbage/noodles/tomato/carrot/hotdog/tofu/corn/egg/potato/mushroom (and 3-4 other items I did not catch the name of). The protein comes on a side plate (I did chicken, which was thinly cut, with my son). My broth was the Thai soup, which was spicy and cleared my sinus. You cook all the ingredients in your hot pot and then scoop out onto your plate. They bring a special sauce for dipping that is a bit spicy and has cilantro in it. That sauce was insanely AWESOME! I started eating the sauce by itself. And I would bet the sauce would taste amazing over a sushi roll! The server mentioned ordering extra sides for two people, so I got extra potato and ramen. I also ordered the Thai milk tea, with boba, and that was yummy (wasn't spicy at all though). Service was outstanding here! For dessert, they brought out shaved ice and red beans. It was different and tasted better then I expected. Some type of sweet cream underneath the red beans, with shaved ice under it all. My son ate his, and he normally does not try anything weird. Big win! Overall, a great experience and would recommend. Not sure I'll be back, as I'd rather just eat Pho, but it's worth trying once!

Yelp
We haven't had hot pot in so long so we decided go come by after hitting up teso and are so glad we did! Don't sleep on this place. They were sooo friendly & service was attentive and willing to explain everything if you haven't been before. If you've never done hot pot, this is a restaurant where you'll order either a combo, a la carte or ayce (at other places). You pick your protein & sides or get a combo here which comes with vegetables, egg & noodles. Then you get a broth which the Szechuan broth is so good, worth the $3.99 upcharge. Super flavorful. My husband got the medium spicy bone broth and it's also good ($1.99 for spicy upcharge). You could also just add peppers from the sauce bar instead of getting spicy broth. Once youve picked broth & food, they set you up your own pot with broth and bring out your order. You'll use the chopsticks on the table or go to the sauce bar and get a ladle to use to move meat/veg to the boiling broth and then back out to your bowl/plate. The sauce bar is in the middle of the store and you just grab the sauce bowls on the end of the bar and go to town. Everything is labeled to make it easy. I like to do a black vinegar sauce with chili peppers, garlic, green onions and then a creamy sauce with a mix of sesame, spicy mayo, chili and a little cilantro & jalapenos - but experiment and make your own! As you cook your food, you'll dip it in sauce or add sauce to your bowl and make a soup for yourself. They'll tell you cook times but generally root veg a few mins, other veg 1-2 mins, meats are a few seconds if you want rare/med rare. Ribeye was very tender and worth the $30 price tag. I'd get this all day. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot and they do have seating for groups 2-8 at least

Tawny C.

Yelp
I went to this resturant for the first time because I wanted a bowl of soup. The concept is nice, "to pick your fresh vegetables", but you have to cook the soup dish yourself. You pick your soup base and then you have to select a minimum of $20.00 worth of vegetables. If you have leftovers, you cannot take home the special sauce that you made from the bar. The staff does not allow the used portion of your sauce for ''dipping the vegetables'' to be taken home for your leftovers. The soup bowl ends up being about 30.00. It is quite expensive for an okay meal that you have to cook.

Jackylene S.

Yelp
Husband and I came here on a Wednesday night, luckily there was no wait but I could definitely see this place being packed on the weekends. We are average eaters and weren't able to finish our combo plates- husband got the angus brisket and pork belly combo and I got the fish + beef. Both combos came with gigantic vegetable platters (and were an excellent value). The only thing I would change the next time we visit is the soups we picked. The mushroom and tomato broths were nothing to write home about... will try the beef and Tom Yum next time!

Yelp
ITS BACK! After a long renovation, J's mini hot pot is back. So delicious! The sauce bar is full of different yummy sauce, the meat is fresh, the service was okay. Renovations made the restaurant look more appealing. I love hot pot and this hits the spot. I will be back!

Yelp
I used to LOVE J's Mini Hot Pot in my college days and I thought this place had the BEST shabu -- but this was 5-6 years ago, and I stopped going after a plethora of hot pots started opening up, and my palate started shifting and preferring Chinese Style hot-pots instead. I recently had the opportunity to visit (this was my first after their renovation/remodeling) and I saw that they actually did have Chinese-style hot pot! But my memory was geared towards the Korean/Japanese-style hot pot so I decided to order that for the memz. Wow the price definitely increased a LOT (thank you, inflation!) -- I remember there used to be a $9.99 lunch special, but now the price is $22.99.. I also subbed my carb option for the Shanghai noodles (it's a MUST). What I really like about J's Mini is their sauce bar. They have a really good sauce bar and a lot of options. The toppings/veggies is also plentiful and they also give you a lot of meat as well. I think this place is my favorite non-AYCE Korean/Japanese style shabu place. I definitely do want to check out the Chinese-style hot pot next time but J's Mini definitely never disappoints. I will be back!

Yelp
It's really good. I just think it's a little bit too pricey for hot pot. The service is decent and the ambiance is nice. The quality here is great, but I just wish it didn't cost so much.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Haven't been here in ages so everything was updated. It seems like they did a remodel and the ambience is more elegant than previously. You can either get individual hotpot or share one. We opted to share one and get two different soup bases. The meat quality is good for its price point and they are generous with portion sizes. The sauce bar has a range of ingredients. Food came out in a timely manner and servers were attentive... sometimes a bit too attentive. Staff was friendly.

Yelp
I've been dying to try this place. I love a great hot pot meal. They have a nice and clean atmosphere. The service was superior. We were attended at all times. I rate this place a 10/10. The food was of great quality and great flavor. They even refill your pot. We selected the beef bone broth, brisket and meatballs. This place was an hour away, but definitely worth the drive.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE hot pot place I've ever been to. The portions are generous, the waitstaff are attentive and kind, and the food is so fresh. I also love the house made spicy sauce. It's my favorite sauce I've ever had! I always get the beef bone broth and it is so hearty and flavorful. The fruit smoothies are freshly made and delicious as well. Whenever I'm in town I make it a point to come here.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
The Duluth location just went through a renovation and reopening recently. I wish there was a bigger waiting area, but there is a tablet for a wait-list. Do know they seem understaffed and busy during rush hours. Purely food based review: Big family pot (Spicy Beef) - $10 upgrade to the big pot. We got the first level spicy and it was good spice level. Ring of Meat (Pork & Beef) - for $26, it's a visually really cool addition to the meal for a special occasion. You can also opt for more premium meats for extra costs. Note that it doesn't come with veggies so I would order another entree that does come with it. Premium beef slices entree - Definitely higher quality beef and since it's an entree, it comes with a large size of veggies and choice of noodles that can serve two people.

Yelp
My Sons came for a visit from Chicago, and suggested hot pot. Reviews brought us here. Small, but quaint, and very clean. Staff is friendly. Food was delicious.

Londonbridge X.

Yelp
This is the only hot pot place I will go to when I'm in town! The service here is great and it's always very clean. It looks like they have done some renovations since I was last here a couple years ago. The food selection here is great and you get plenty for your money's worth. I like that everyone gets their own mini hotpot and can pick their own broth instead of sharing family style. My mom and I opted for the wagyu steak combo on this visit, it including another selection of meat, seafood, veggies, egg and a drink. Typically it's $98 per person, but they had a special for 50% off and it was so worth it! I do also like their milk teas. I highly recommend this location if you are in the mood for hotpot.

Yelp
Of all the hotpot places I've ever tried, this one is my favorite. I hate that I don't live in this area. I found this spot while we were in the area. I found it through yelp, actually. You just walk in, they tell you where to sit, and come give you some menus. They have a variety on their menu. You pretty much pick your broth, and what meats you want. I picked the bone broth with meatballs and meat. I saw a sign that states BYOB for an additional charge. I wish I knew this before I came lol. I did my own hotpot and had my own pot in front of me. It comes with the meat you selected, and a tray of veggies. I really liked that the tray of veggies came with everything that I love in there. It had an egg (uncooked), Napa, spinach, glass noodles, taro, potato, mushrooms, and A few other things that were pretty interesting. You can also add more sides or meats to your meal if you'd like. There's also a sauce bar. I really liked that their sauce bar has lots of selections. I have no complaints about their sauces at all. I tried 2 of the sauces and it was good. They also have fish sauce, sriracha, and a few other sauces on the side of the sauce bar. I liked this a lot. Their sauce bar did not disappoint. We ended our dinner with some ice cream. I've never had this kind of ice cream before. It was over shaved ice. It was my first time having it, and it was pretty good. Honestly, I would probably come back if I come in this area again. I come to Atlanta a few times a year, so I'll definitely be stopping by again.

Yelp
Amazing hotpot, good selection of items and sauces. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It's our go to for hotpot's on a cold night!

This is such a fun (and yummy) place to eat; it is a great spot for a date night (hot pot takes a while to eat, which is a nice change of pace). The staff is attentive and helpful. Try to come on a cold/rainy night if you can help it- the ambience can't be beat during during that kind of weather!

Yelp
Been here about six times now and the quality and service is still above and beyond. Took a party of 12 here and they sat us right away. Mainly because we got there before the big dinner rush. Everyone order different things. Some got the a la carte and others did the entrees. And we had pretty much every broth between us all. Note the Szechuan broth has the peppercorns inside. So if you bite them they can cause your mouth to feel weird The a la carte veggie portions are good enough for 2-3 people. The meat you order is sliced fresh and then brought to the table, which is nice. Other hot pot places don't do this. Also the pork dumplings are some of the best. Finally, the sauce and condiments station is fantastic. Has everything you need to customize the already wonderful broth.

Yelp
I was craving for some hot pot and J'a mini hot pot hit the spot. My fiancée and I each ordered a meat combo as entree ($17.99), and that was more than enough for us. The nice things about J's mini hot pot is that you can get a variety of meat, vegetables and noodles as an entree. The food was decent, but not anything special. Service was really fast. All servers wore masks. I assume that before covid, the sauce bar would have been self-serving; now, you can let the waitress know what sauces you want, and she will get it ready for you. The place was not busy on a Sunday night.

Yelp
I like that that it's an individual mini hot pot! This makes it more affordable compared to some other places, while still being a good portion of food. You get a good assortment of vegetables and can also get other veggies or meat a la carte. I also like that you can get meat combos, so you can have even more variety. The only downside is that if that you can't necessarily pick and choose what you want within your hot pot outside of the meet, which can suck if there's some items you're not into. The service here is really good! They're all very friendly people. I liked that there's a sauce bar as well as some pre-made sauce options too. Though I thought the options were kinda limited. I think this is a very good option for those who are new to hot-pot.

Yelp
This is the only place I go to for hot pot. The food is consistent and delicious. The staff is so awesome, friendly and super attentive. I just love everything about J's. It is my favorite place to dine. Y'all give it a try, you'll love it too.

Yelp
Love the individual mini pots! Being from Chicago, we had tons of hotpot options. However, none of them had small pots like at J's. Perhaps this came out of necessity due to COVID, but I love it! I haven't been back to Chicago since 2020, but I'll keep y'all updated of any mini hot pot spots there too when I go back. The manager (and owner?) J was sooo nice. There were several servers as well and 2 of them were instantly friendly while the 3rd one had to warm up to us. Regardless, we aren't new to hotpot so it was fine. I really liked that we were able to share on entree option with adding side orders. And my husband and I both got our own pots. The options were plentiful. The meats were good quality. The sauce bar had all the fixings plus some pre-made sauces in case you don't know what sauce you might like. The one and only con I have is that I felt the broth was rather watered down. We chose beef broth instead of chicken so I don't know if the chicken is better. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Food is good but if you want to share it with your friends it'll cost $10.99 and you won't be told about it until you get your bill.

Yelp
This was the first time here and really our first family mini hot pot experience. It took some maneuvering to figure out what we wanted off the menu, and then when all the food came out it was surprising at how much was included! You pick your broth, and then the basic order comes with huge plate of vegetables and meats for each person. You can add on additional meats and vegetables for an extra charge, but really if you're going for the first time just order it off the menu without anything extra so you can actually see how much food you're going to get. If you're not a veggie eater, then you're going to want to get some other meats. Each plate of meat is enough to share with two people, keep that in mind. The meal comes with what they call a sweet potato noodle, which really is a clear noodle once cooked. I thought it was totally fine but if you wanted to add on a different noodle, like Ramen, you can do that but there's an extra charge. Don't be afraid of the kids menu when you go because the kids get a ton of food at a great price. There's also a bar where you self-serve different sauces, green onion, garlic, sesame oil, etc. You just pour your sauces in a bowl and use it to dip your meat and vegetables in while you eat. The next part here is where you cook your own food. You have your own boiling pot of broth that you cook all your stuff in and then eat as you go. Hence, the reason this is called a mini hot pot is because each person has their own mini pop to cook in. The wait staff will bring more broth to keep it full for as you eat. Overall it was a fantastic experience. I felt we ate a very healthy meal which is great. When it's cold outside, a hot pot is really ideal. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
We came on a Friday, and it wasn't very busy. There was plenty of room. I usually like local restaurants more than chain restaurants, but I think my experience at the chain hot pot restaurant Haidilao was much better than J's Mini Hot Pot. The best thing about the restaurant is that they have individual hot pots, which is great for COVID because of reduced sharing. The portion size is quite large for the vegetables. The meat size was average, and the sauce bar was fine, but seemed to be missing some sauces that you'd expect, such as sesame oil. The meal came with a free shaved ice dessert, and I chose the red bean flavor, which was a nice touch. We had a group of 4, but was automatically charged a $4 service fee per person, and then we were asked to tip even more.

Yelp
Overall 3.5/5 I went to J's mini hot pot around 8 PM on a Wednesday night and I had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated for 6 people. I was surprised how busy the restaurant was at such a late hour during the middle of the week. The parking in front of the restaurant is also quite limited and always packed. There is parking nearby though such as behind the building in the next door plaza or a little further down the road by the bank. The interior of the restaurant was very nice and well renovated. The ceramic pot that the hot pot tins come in is aesthetic, the booths are comfortable and the tables are quite spacious. The food comes out pretty quickly and sometimes through an automatic robot. The menu is quite overwhelming but I choose the Angus beef as my entree. Once you choose your entree, you pick your broth (I chose the beef bone broth but some broths are extra) and you can pick the spice as well. The entree comes with a large bowl of sides such as vegetables, fish cakes, egg, noodles, etc. I did order a side of rice as I prefer rice over noodles. I assumed it was going to be extra but I was not charged. They gave me a large bowl of rice which I appreciated and had to give half to my friend as it was too much for just me. Overall the meat was pretty good, I wouldn't say it is the best quality. I would put it in the hot pot and end up picking out tiny pieces of meat. However, the quality of the vegetables and other sides were good. I'd say the service overall was good. The only issue I had was towards the end my friends and I had $10 gift card each. We were told we werent able to use more than one gift card per party which is not stated on the gift card. It was also confusing because they originally included tip since there were 6 of us in the party but now that we were planning on using the gift card, they removed the tip? I don't understand the logic or the system but we were quite confused and unpleased to not each be able to use all of the gift cards.

Yelp
Good service. I recommend the Szechuan broth! Perfect hot pot size if you don't want to be in front of a huge hot pot!
