J's Mini HotPot Deluxe

I came here about 10 years ago and enjoyed the experience. Came back for the second time tonight and it did not disappoint. I especially like that you get your own individual pot and so can choose your soup base. The Angus beef was very good. And they have a wide selection on the menu. More expensive than your all you can eat hot pot place is, but better quality food here. Not gourmet but really good.

One of our favorite place for hotpot. It’s not AYCE but plenty for each person. Get the condiments from the sauce bar & mix it in with the broth to enhance the flavors. 2 thumbs up.

First time experience with hot pot dining! 5 stars here! The food was delivered FAST, FRESH and aesthetically appealing in presentation. I defintely loved how you are able to customize your own sauce and taste preferences. The house sauce had everything I loved. You get plenty of food, great service and an even greater dining experience for the price you pay. I will return, with family and friends.

This eatery is mosdef an experience. The guests actually get to simmer or cook their order to their liking. Your food is brought to you in either a basket or dish and your table is a glass top stove where you finish preparing your meal. Their is a toppings and sauce bar as well for those looking to add some add'l flavor. I must point out that I order a honey date tea pot as well, which I'd never drank b4 and it was divine. This is certainly a place to explore if you're a foodie.

We ordered the Surf and Turf and the Angus Beef hotpots. It was a bit overwhelming as first-timers, but our waiter was great in helping us navigate it. The sauce bar is what makes the whole experience. The house sauce is fantastic. Go with someone who knows what they’re doing, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

I highly recommend this place. I love that they give you a big bowl or a mixture of things. I’ve been to other hot pot places where every single thing is a la carte. I thought it was delicious and presentation is gorgeous!! I thought the price was fair. I would not get the kiwi smoothie bubble tea again. I don’t know what I was thinking but it was neon green and very fake tasting. I selected that so I will still rate this place five stars. A lot of parking spaces!

Some tough love here. The staff is wonderful here. But the food, which this review is about, fell short of expectations. The hot pot selection just did not seem appetizing so we t with the pike bowl with eel, and I love eel sushi. Unfortunately the flavor profile did not come together well, nor did the textures. And the eel itself was too slimy and stretchy and tough. Not all all the sushi quality I expected in a pricey poke bowl. So for me and a stuffed donkey, this one gets no tail wags.

Its not Ramen. Its not Pho. It is Chinese Hot Pot!! A totally different experience which you will enjoy for sure alongside eating the healthiest of meals. This place have a modern vibe and serves the traditional Chinese hot pot. The hot pots are of a size big enough for one person. The tables here are unique having 1 cooktop for each person to keep your personal hotpot boiling. So many combos to choose with wide wide variety of sides as well. This place is good for vegetarians too and they do keep veggie broth. Our hostess Ming for super nice and if you visit this place for the first time, she would be a great tour guide. Someone might say that the prices are little high but when you see the quantity of that tasty food, you would feel the worth. Overall a great experience and I would definitely be having more visits to this place.

Ok so I'm not sure if this got a new name change but I was led here after my search for poke led me to Chamblee. I was a little confused because when I walked in it was like all hot pot seating but when I said I was here for poke they showed me where it was on the menu. I was recommended to order the signature poke bowl and omg so glad I did. I've been on a hunt for true authentic poke that wasn't from a chain or skimped out on toppings and THIS gave me everything I asked for. It was so good, so filling, so fresh. This location is a drive away from where I live originally but I see they have a Duluth location so I'm hoping it tastes just as a good there!

The restaurant's vibe was great and the service was awesome. The food i feel is a little overpriced, especially when you can go to other hot pot places and get more for your buck. Their sauce bar is also a little limited, but I like how they are labeled and also like how they give newbies tips on how to mix sauces. Overall good and would come back solely because of how nice the service was

I've been to this place multiple time throughout the years. The establishment looks nice and have a nice decor. The food is pretty good. Sometime the staff drops off the food too fast and don't explain what everything is but that's also one of the plus I like about going to this place lol. Me and whomever I'm with try to guess what we're eating then later ask the waitress what it was, so it's somewhat like a table game lol.

J's is the kind of place I'm very happy I tried but don't feel the need to return to in a hurry. On the plus side, I enjoyed the hot pot experience of choosing and cooking the food piece by piece, the beef bone broth I ordered was tasty, and the portions of veggies and meat were generous. I got mixed meat of lamb and beef, and found the lamb more tender but enjoyed both. Also tried a bite of the vegetarian broth, which was also good. On the negative side, I thought the prices were a bit high, and the service was bad. It didn't even seem that busy, but everything from trying to get seated to getting napkins to (never) getting a refill on water was an issue.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. My favorite is the lamb hotpot plus it's halal since the lamb is from new zealand. The seafood hotpot is divine too with addition of salmon makes it so unique and delicious when cooked in the broth. I highly highly recommend getting the fizou fish balls as a side order. It's a ball with eel inside of it which literally tastes like meat.

Overall this was a really underwhelming experience. I guess in my head I was thinking this was going to be like the other location. I was wrong. The service here was nonchalant. We were at the end of our meal when they asked if we wanted anything else or how everything was. There was only 4 other diners besides us so it wasn't as if they were slammed. My veggies were all fresh and well prepared so that was a big plus. It had a nice variety and I enjoyed the two types of mushrooms. My broth however was the worst I've ever had. It was just water. I was like surely this is a mistake. Then the other broth at the table, which was a different style had the same type of problem. Zero flavor. The sauce bar at this location has a lot less variety then their other spot. My favorites , leek sauce,spicy Thai, and peanut sauce were nowhere to be found. I would not be in a hurry to come back to this location due to so many other options in the area

Overall, a disappointing showing for J's Mini Hotpot. I'll start off by saying I'm a regular patron of J's Mini Hotpot II in Duluth. However, they are currently closed for renovations and expected to reopen sometime in a October. In the meantime, we had a craving for hotpot and thought, "Of course J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe" would provide be the go to place because it will be just like the other J's...boy were we wrong. I'll start with the good. The decor was nice and comfortable. Much trendier than the Duluth location was, with newer nicer tabletops. The meat selection was plentiful. The meats, shrimp, and vegetable accompaniments were fresh and high quality. On to the bad. The sauce selection is not plentiful as the a Duluth location and the sauces that they do have are not as flavorful or high quality. The service was severely lacking. The server was...a vibe, only really saw him twice during the whole meal and both times he was depressing. The worst thing about this mean, is , perhaps, the most important. The broth was terrible. We had one veggie broth and one beef broth. My beef broth tasted like they washed a piece of meat and they served me the water runoff. The veggie broth straight up tasted like water. I was so confused and disappointed. The broths at the other location have deep wonderful flavorful and I'm absolutely miffed that this location...the DELUXE location...has awful broth as there hotpot base. I cannot wait for the Duluth location to reopen. I haven't been able to find another hotpot location that combines the same quality of food and friendly service as the Duluth location J's Mini Hotpot II.

I love hot pot, but J'a fell short for me this time. I have it 3 stars due to the following: 1. Location: it's in the old Hoa Binh market shopping center to the right coming in from Buford highway. 2. Customer service: the staff was quick to seat us and gave us plenty of time to decide on our orders. Came by to check in on us with extra broth and water if needed. 3. Food: We came for dinner last night but left a bit underwhelmed. My Sichuan broth was a bit bland. My seafood were all frozen. The octopus pieces tasted weird... rubbery and old. 4 Sauce bar: the sauce bar was impressive with plenty of different ingredients for your to make your own. 5. Price: depending on what entree you order, they range from $22-29. I ordered the surf and turf ($25) combo with the Sichuan broth (extra $3). My friend ordered an Agus beef ($22). We also order extra watercress ($5.50). The bill came out to be roughly $70. With that price, we could have opted for AYCE at Top Kbbq and Hot pot in Sandy springs. Overall, J's isn't what it used to be and I wouldn't come back.

Overall 4/5: Been going to their other location for years, decided to stop in because it's closer to where i live than the other. Food 4/5: Always fresh and ample ingredients. I got the angus beef combo which came with plenty of vegetables and meat. It was super filling with a lot of variety. I love their sauce bar, there were even suggestions posted for mixings. Super fulfilling and warming, hot pot is one of my favorite comfort foods, and i'm glad this place is still here. Service 4/5: Server was friendly. The plates came out fast, and he made sure our water was always full as well as our broths. Good service. Vibe 4/5: It is very clean in here and a much different interior than their other location in Duluth. It's very nice and modern, and i would definitely bring friends here. If you're a hotpot amateur I recommend having an experienced friend come with you or that you do your research before eating. The reason for that is to eat as it's intended. I'm sure regardless of how it's eaten it'll still be good (as long as you don't undercook your food, can't help there) you have your sauce ingredients at the bar to whip together flavoring for your broth. It's up to your pallette but try not to miss that. You're also given an egg which I idiotically boiled and had a unflavored hard boiled egg lol. I was informed it may be good to crack and dip the meat into or to crack into your broth. It's a good and fun dining experience regardless of how you decide to eat or what you decide to eat. Have fun and eat, the seafood hotpot is what I got and it was pretty delicious, my gf had the Tom yum broth and that smacked

This was a fun experience. You get your broth and cook everything yourself which takes between 30 seconds to 8 minutes depending on the item. It's pretty self explanatory. There is a sauce bar in the back with lots of options to add to your bowl. It was definitely on the pricier side of dinner but because it was something different it was worth it.

Excellent hot pot experience. The Angus Beef Hot Pot had a generous portion of beef that I felt was decent quality for the price. And the vegetable platter was fresh and massive. The broth didn't have too much flavor, but that's what the sauce bar is for! Had to take off a star because I went here with 5 friends and they only had tables equipped for 4 hot pot stoves each, so we had to split up.

This place is delicious. We come here all the time. Best prices and their drinks are affordable. Their sauce selection is unbelievable. If you're in Duluth, definitely stop by.

Guys. I love a hotpot experience!!My bestie and I came here for an impromptu lunch one day and had a really great time. Usually, when I go to hot pot restaurants there is one big pot that is separated into two sections, but this time is different. J's mini hot pot actually gives one pot per person, which I thought was great because I have a couple of dietary restrictions. The seafood was really fresh, and the vegetables were as well. I really liked that no matter what entrée you got you received a variety of vegetables. And the spice bar was a really great addition to the meal, I was able to get some chili oil, fresh herbs, and spices that I probably wouldn't have thought to put into my food unless I was at home. I'm only giving it a four out of five stars because the broth was cold when we received it, which I guess is they're saying but I thought it was strange because it prolong our time cooking our food and we were really hungry lol and also they put a charge on all meat and seafood which I thought was a little silly.

This place is a self serve tame experience, it was really cute and cool. I enjoyed it.

Different thing here...hot plates built into the table You selectvfrom 4 broths..many spices and sauces.YOU cool this in a pot. Adding your choice of veggies meats seafood, etc.it cooks quickly FUN TIME AND GREAT FOOD.WE TRULY ENJOYED THIS .

I attended their grand re-opening ceremony. They out a lot of effort into it with tons of raffles, plenty of free unlimited delicious food. They had multiple regular customers speak on their behalf explaining why they love J's mini hotpot so much. The renovation makes the restaurant look very clean. They have ceramic bowls where you would put your broth pot in so that you don't end up burninf yourself when you accidentally touch it or have to move it.

J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe is similar to J's mini hotpot in Duluth, but since it's "Deluxe", the price, meat and presentation is more upscale. I unusually go at least more 3-4 times a year to Deluxe but I ultimately prefer the other one in Duluth. Non the less, I'll go to deluxe sometimes for the drive and the meat quality. Recently I stopped by for lunch with my friend and we order the following: -Beef hotpot with vegetarian broth -Seafood hotpot with Tom yum broth (additional $2.99 for broth) Apparently, there's a sign on the front door that there's been a food shortage so everything is a dollar more? I didn't notice this but my friend did. Overall, the broth that I usually get (vegetarian) tastes better in Duluth but it's doable at this location. Their sauces are also not as a variety but they have the one I want. Overall, I would come back just if not for the convenience and meat quality. 17/2021

The broth was good it was spicy so that was good (however you do have to pay extra for it to be spicy). The seafood was a little too frozen. It does help you cook it in the broth but I was hoping it would be more fresh but everything was way too frozen for my taste. It Is not all you can eat but they do give you plenty of sides and they have many options available for mini hotspots. It is overpriced though...but the ambiance and service were good. The lychee juice was also good.

I'm a first time hotpot customer, never had it before but have watched enough anime to yearn for it deeply. Finally got around to going to here. Service isn't great but that's ok, the food is fresh and lovely. Just so you know.. because no one told me. The sauce is behind a wall in the middle of the restaurant and will make your food tastier. Had no idea until I was basically done... don't make the same mistake as me.. get you that sauce.

OVERALL: I was excited to try J's after reading great reviews, but was let down by the broth and the service. I probably would not recommend unless you are really wanting personally-portioned hot pot. FOOD: The menu is LARGE and difficult to navigate on your own unless you know what you're doing. Our group tried lots of different entree options -- veggie, angus beef, chicken, and seafood. For the three of us that ordered vegetarian hot pot, we loved the diversity of sides, but each got different items in the bowl...some of us got vermicelli noodles, others didn't...same with corn (a rather unconventional hot pot item) and onions. Not a deal breaker, but odd. The broth itself was not good. I got the medium spicy broth and it had no flavor -- and even worse, tasted virtually the same as my friend who got Sichuan spicy broth. This was the biggest let down for us! We had to keep adding sauces and spices from the sauce bar, which was running low. As for sides, I also tried the "hand crafted" meat dumplings for a $6.50 charge. I received 5 dumplings no bigger than a quarter which were frozen solid. Not worth the price! Get something else instead. DRINK: Get the strawberry coconutmilk boba. That is all! SERVICE: This is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 3 -- and honestly, it made me consider giving a 1 star. Our server never greeted us or walked us through the menu. When asked what he recommended to help get us started, he replied "it's your personal taste" and offered no other help. It took a long time to get our food, we had to track him down to get drink orders (and he acted inconvenienced by us doing so), and he didn't explain how long to cook the meats or other items in the bowl like typical hot pot places I've been. After we finished, we waited for the check so long that we got up to make sure we didn't need to pay at a cash register instead. It was really disappointing -- our server acted like we were a burden even though it was empty at a peak dinner time. LOCATION/AMBIANCE: The location is a small shopping plaza with a bunch of other great restaurants tucked away. Inside J's, the restaurant is clean and quiet which is nice for a Sunday night dinner with friends!

After too much of a Sunday funday, my head (or stomach) was craving something hydrating and savory. Boom. Hot pot sounded delish. This place is very adorable, complete with a sauce bar and paper napkins within the drawers of your table. Service is slow but maybe they were understaffed.

Loved this location. The hot pot setup is per person versus shared. You get a robust selection of veggies in addition to your protein choice. I got the seafood hotpot with Ramen noodles and spicy broth. Delicious and would go again. They have a sauce bar where you can also create your own sauces for your meal. Will go again with friends or for a date night. Casual atmosphere.

When I'm craving hotpot but don't want to go all the way to Duluth, I drop by J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe. The broth isn't my favorite, but the protein is of good quality, there are a variety of veggies, and I love that they provide recipes to create your own sauces at the sauce bar. I also appreciate that they are only allowing one person at a time at the sauce bar currently. Overall, the portions here are huge and everything is reasonably priced.

My girlfriend and I have a Valentine's tradition to enjoy hot pot for dinner as our date of choice. We first went to J's Mini back in 2020 (pre-COVID) and enjoyed the experience. They have instructions on the menu itself on how to order your hot pot and it goes something along the lines of: - Choose your entree - your choice of meat, which can be between: angust beef, lamb, chicken, pork, brisket, fish, sea food, crab, and a few other options - Choose your broth - beef bone broth, chicken, vegetarian, and a few other specialty broths! you can make any of these broths spicy too - Lastly, you'll choose your side(s) - this is optional if you'd like - they have a large array of available items (personally I stick with the veggie side platter that comes with the entree) I order the Lamb entree with the beef bone broth spicy at a medium level. I could go a little spicier next time, so I might go for extra spicy. My girlfriend usually orders the beef bone broth and she's mentioned before that it isn't TOO flavorful, HOWEVER they have a wonderful sauce bar that she will grab sauces like soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, cilantro (etc), to add to her broth to make it to her liking. I've seen others mix to their broths as well and I typically do go to grab some garlic at the very least to add into my spicy broth. Each entree comes with a side of veggies and an egg at no extra charge (I've taken a close up picture of the veggie platter to show what all is included in that) or you can substitute items for anything on the side orders menu for a potential upcharge. The service is okay-- they do seem a bit understaffed, but the servers were getting to us whenever they could. Our specific server who took our order was not very attentive to asking if we needed anything else after we placed our initial order although we were looking for him to get additional drinks ordered. Once the food was on the table though, no complaints!!

The food was not good and the service was bad. I did not like my experience. Gave one star back for the fries (salt less) and the gentleman who checked out my party, but everything else fell flat. For example: The broth: flavorless. So disappointed. It literally tasted like fish water. Had to keep asking for instructions and where to find items. Waiter was quite rude and talking to us like what we were asking was common knowledge when we had never been there before. Took forever to order and for food to come out. Each of us got varying amounts of broth and when it ran out we had to use water to get through the rest of the sides we ordered. Won't be returning. I was quite underwhelmed by my experience because the reviews looked so positive. I'm assuming they were made by people who had never had hot pot before. Because whatever this is does not compare to what I have had in the past.

Talk about rip offs, and I'm sure this place will come up in conversation. Our ramen orders were literally the shelf stable, dorm room packs of budgetary renown. Granted, you have the option to gussy up the meal with their sauce & topping bar, but if you're paying almost $20 for a serving, then the establishment should serve you commensurately. Additionally, the server was so apathetic to our presence that I began to wonder if he was a trust fund child with an employment clause. Even with our Atlanta Passbook discount, we will never dine here again. If you want ramen or hot pot there are far better options in the Chamblee/Doraville/Buford Highway area.

When you want some hot pot in the weather this is the place to be. The sauces with the recipes at the sauce bar will blow your mind and change the broth flavor profiles!

I would drive an hour to eat their hot pot!!! Vegan friendly- just omit the egg in your vegetarian hot pot.

I ate at Js Hotpot about a week ago. I was very excited since this would be my first experience and I was holding a dining out passport book for Atlanta. The food ended up being great however there was no explanation about where to start and what to do. I felt very confused the whole time about when to go to the sauce bar, start cooking etc. Once I got going it became easier and I really enjoyed the food presentation. Everything finally got cooked with sauces added and it was delicious. No one ever checked on us and I had to keep asking questions to get answers. Could have used a little more customer service but not the worst experience.

Love the concept of individual burner plates at the tables. My server was great at explaining the menu and options and how to work the table and sauce bar. I opted for surf and turf, with lamb as my turf option. It also came with a bowl of veggies and noodles. It was a lot of food and I could have just gone with the seafood hot pot. The spicy chicken broth was really good and the food options were plentiful. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Atlanta.

With winter just around the corner, you can't go wrong with some hot pot. I've been to J's Mini Hotpot twice now and had good experiences both times. Parking: J's is located in the Hoa Binh Market plaza. There's a huge lot so plenty of parking spaces. Inside, the restaurant is well lit. The tables are wooden and clean. Looks like they recently remodeled the place cause the tables look relatively new. Menu: SO MANY OPTIONS. You can easily get overwhelmed just looking at the menu. Here are some quick ordering tips. 1. Pick a broth. Beef, chicken, miso, herbal, Thai tom yum, Sichuan hot spicy broth and a beauty booster broth?! Some broths are at an extra charge though. Also note that if you want spicy or extra spicy, there's an extra $1 charge. Our server didn't notify us so we were surprised when it came time to pay the bill. Broth refills are unlimited. I opted for the mild beef broth--the broth is pretty bland across the board (whether it's mild, spicy or extra spicy) so the sauces are necessary. 2. Pick an entree. All entrees come with a veggie/noodle bowl with other select toppings. This includes but not limited to spinach, napa cabbage, enoki mushrooms, carrots, tofu, fish balls, sausage, and an egg (see photo). If you opt for a different type of noodles, it's an extra charge. There are also many additional toppings you can order in addition to what's provided. Their popular entree is the Angus beef ($18.99) which is what we ordered. The meat was pretty good, not too much fat. The portions are pretty large if you factor in the unlimited broth and the veggie/noodle/toppings bowl. Unless you're super-duper hungry, I don't think it would be necessary for each person to order their own entree. Each entree is roughly $15-25 give or take. 3. Get your sauces. Sauces are unlimited. You can create your own sauce or follow the steps to create some of the popular sauces. I enjoyed the Popstar Sauce. If you are sharing an entree, there's an $8.95 charge. This includes access to sauces as well as unlimited broth refills. The person will get his/her own broth. Service: Good. They are currently short-staffed so the wait was kind of long with two people servicing about 25-30 people coming in at the same time. Our server could have been more informative about the extra charges. The manager is great though-- he even remembered us and where we sat last time we visited. Overall, it's a decent hotpot place if you're in the area.

J's is my top choice when it comes eating out for hotpot. The veggies are fresh and it comes with a decent amount of meat. I normally like to get the lamb entree ($17.95) and it's just the right amount to get full. I don't eat very much though, so I can see someone else having to order more food. It can get quite pricey, especially if you order a la carte. I have also ordered the Surf & Turf Combo before, you get seafood and 1 choice of meat for ($19.95). I've stopped ordering this but instead prefer the lamb entree because you get more meat this way. Also, the seafood isn't very fresh. There were times I've received the seafood and there's still a lot of ice on it. Service is not bad, but kind of slow even when they aren't very busy. But not a big deal since you're essentially cooking your own food, getting your own sauces, etc. I still prefer this place over other places. Definitely recommend it if you haven't tried it.

My cousin suggested that we get hot pot on this cool fall weather and I happily obliged. J's mini hot pot was tucked away towards the back of the shopping center with ample of parking in the lot. My cousin able to make a reservation for 4 at 7pm on Friday late afternoon with no problems. My hubby and I arrived a little early and they sat us right away. There were a few parties eating their dinner. We were greeted and offer drinks, but we wanted to wait to order together. We had time to explore the menu which is extensive with lots of choices. We settled on the beef for hubs and I got the surf and turf and we're both got the bone beef broth. My aunt got herbal broth and my cousin got Sichuan hot spicy broth but in medium spice. They first brought us large bowls of vegetable and our individual pots with various broth. The switch for turning on the stove is on your side of the table. Wait until they bring your meats! The portions are huge. We barely had enough room on our table for all our things. The seafood comes separate in a bamboo serving bowl. The presentation is really impressive. The beef was fresh and the variety of vegetables kept us full. The seafood mostly frozen, so cook it an extra minute. The sauce bar! Don't forget to make your own sauces. They have so many ingredients and they have a list of suggestions based on what type you got. Follow one and you can go wrong. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience as well as the food and left with happy bellies. My cousin did mention that the Gwinnett location was a little cheaper, but the quality and quantity here was better. The only thing we didn't like was the service was lacking when it got busier as the night went on. Also, they give no instructions if you are unfamiliar with this type of dining. But it was worth a try and was perfect for a cold night.

Here again because we have the Atlanta passbook and wanted to have some hotpot on a cold windy day. 4 stars because the original price is too expensive for what hot pot is but service was much faster today so I'm very pleased. I N S I D E R T I P Turns out if you use the passbook, they automatically charge you 18% for tip and it's printed on the receipt. F O O D We ordered lamb hot pot with extra vermacelli noodles in chicken broth, and Angus beef hot pot with extra ramen noodles in beef bone broth. It's just like we remembered. Tastes good. Ample meat cut super thin. I need to stop ordering extra noodles because my +1 never eats theirs. Beef bone broth tastes better; more flavor but chicken broth is still good. Ponzu sauce is my fave for a little sweet and tangy taste. Taiwanese BBQ, chili sauce, and chili oil, is a great combo for a little spicy taste. ** Only issue is the sauces were all very low, if not, empty. They need to keep them filled! Otherwise we are very full (: S E R V I C E We were helped by a Taiwanese lady today (never got her name). Service was so fast and efficient. Love it!! First time here. Parking was easy... Easy! Lots of spots because it is on a strip mall. This shop is tucked in a corner. The lady who greeted us at the door was super friendly and because i my friends never had hot pot, she was very helpful by giving them fail proof recipe for the dipping sauce. She made our group feel welcome and we had a blast. The food was great, presentation was beautiful and we awed when it arrived. Selection was abundant, who doesn't like choices right??? I wish i could choose more options because i enjoyed my lunch very much. The broth was tasty, not just salt laden, you can actually taste it. The meat, my surf and turf was good. You can take that it's not kept for too long. Will be back for sure!

My friends took us to this spot! Great food! The four of us ordered different combos. I got the surf and turf with angus beef. They got the dumpling and angus beef combo. All the entrees came with the vegetable platter. It was more than enough for one to finish. I took some to-go! The only minute disappointment was our waiter. He was the only one there and we would tell he wasn't too optimistic about the shift. Nevertheless, we will definitely be back again for the food!

I'm a big fan of J's Mini Hotpot. This is where my love for hotpot and watermelon smoothies started. Back in the day this was a small humble yet cozy hotpot spot off of Buford Highway that my friends and I would frequent pretty regularly. Fast forward all these years and its expanded and got a fresh new look inside. Love the decor and vibe there as well as their serving bowls etc. also the napkins are location in the table drawer of each table. Their menu options are pretty extensive and reasonably priced. They give a good bit of veggies and other things to put in your hotpot. Love how everyone still gets to have an individual pot to make the base just the way you like it. You're also able to add other things if you'd like to your order. You can also get free refills on your soup base. The sauce bar is nice and also has a "wow that's cute!" factor to it when you first see it. I like how they already have a good house special sauce available for those that don't want to mix and match to make your dipping sauce. The drink menu is nice too. Get the watermelon smoothie when it's in season. The last two times I went they had a special on them (BOGO free) Staff is friendly and helpful. I really look forward to my visits here. Definitely check them out if you want a good hotpot place. This will become your go to spot for it. I promise.

Wanted to try something different and this definitely was it! I will start by saying I appreciate the workers that were there and their kindness during peak hours. We ordered the pork and beef hotspots. I enjoyed the vegetable side but I wish some items were labeled as it's not my everyday diet. I think the layout of the front should be reconfigured as the cold wind hits you every time the door is opened. I enjoyed mixing different sauces to create my own flavor.

Always friendly, fresh food and sides and lovely sauces. One of the most authentic spots in Atlanta.

The Basics: J's Mini Hotpot is located on Buford Highway and is an amazing hotpot experience! This was my first visit to a hotpot restaurant and I think it is a great choice for your first hotpot meal. All of the food was delicious and the experience, as a whole, was very fun and enjoyable. Things I like: The food here is amazing. There are tons of choices in terms of what meats and broths to order and the dishes come with a huge bowl of vegetables to cook in your broth, as well. My favorite meat was the Angus Beef, but we also enjoyed the Pork. I got the Beef Bone Broth which was also good. We decided to order some dumplings on the side and the Pork Dumplings were an amazing addition to the meal! They were extremely flavorful in the broth and I would certainly order them again. J's Mini Hotpot also has a large bar of sauces where you can mix your own sauces. The bar also has recipes listed where they give you ideas about what sauces to make, which I really enjoyed. Things I didn't like: We could have used a bit more instruction about how everything worked here since it was our first time at a hotpot restaurant. Additionally, we ordered the Handmade Meat Dumplings and I would choose to order the Pork Dumplings over those in the future. Overall, I had an amazing experience here and I'm looking forward to returning. The food was all great and it makes for a fun meal out!

You can find J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe at 4897 Buford Hwy Ste 160, Atlanta, GA 30341 in the shopping center just south of the crux of Buford Highway and Chamblee Tucker Rd, Southeastern quadrant. This shopping center is anchored by the venerable Hoa Binh Supermarket. The shopping center also contains a handful of restaurants worth trying, including Pho Bac and Harmony Vegetarian Chinese. There's a lot of available parking, but these restaurants (and the market) do get quite busy - J's is located right across from Pho Bac and there's usually plenty of parking on that side, even at prime times. I had eaten at a hot pot restaurant either in the same location or nearby many years ago - as I recall it was a bit mediocre - you sat at tables with built-in hot pots where they would load in bullion cubes and you went from there - I don't remember the name of the place (it wasn't much worth remembering). I wasn't sure if J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe was the same place or not - I'm very happy to say it's not. J's by contrast is a super clean, modernist, well-lit and new establishment with individual induction plates built before each seat - this is nice as you can control the amount of heat and cook for each pot, important to produce good cooking results. The menu has a page of lunch items and then a description of the various available broths. You select the broth you want and then the entree which features: chicken, lamb, pork, beef sirloin, pork belly, Angus brisket, Matsuzaka pork, Angus ribeye, fish fillet, seafood, snow crab leg or vegetarian. There are also combos where you pick two meats from one of two categories or a Specialty Combo featuring Surf & Turf (assorted seafood with choice of sliced meat (beef/pork/chicken/lamb) - they cover pretty much everything. After selecting you're given a few apps including a nice seaweed salad and some edamame along with a metal pot that has your broth selection - you're also given a bowl of veggies with a few pieces of tofu and a whole prawn, to start things off. You add your meats or vegetarian selection to the broth along with an egg if you want the rich tastes - as the food is ready you can remove and enjoy as a soup. The food here is quite filling and very good. We all tried something different and everything was quite good - this is a great option but especially welcoming during chilly fall or winter evenings. The service here was also quite good with plenty of attendance and helpful suggestions. I've since eaten here again and everything was quite consistent with my first time. I think this is probably the best hot pot restaurant I've experienced in Atlanta (of course I haven't been to them all) - if you like this style of cooking and food I highly recommend you try J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe. 100% worth it! The reviews do not give this place enough credit! It's fresh, accommodating, and delicious. It's a really simple ordering process and the lunch special is such a good price, y'all have to come around that time. For $10, I was full! A blessing. They have a sauce bar, so you can customize it however you'd like. I liked their house sauce. I also like the individual pots we get to have. It's super personal and clean, it's a must go for me.

It's been over seven years since I wrote my original review for J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe. It's time for an update. Back then, it was simply known as Mini Hot Pot. This is Atlanta's first Asian-style hot pot restaurant. After opening in 2004, it's gone through various renovations and makeovers. Over the years, the restaurant name has changed (to what it is today - J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe, named after its owner, Jay Xue, who also owns Mist Poke Dessert Bar next door) as well as the layout and interior decor, hot pot setup (they originally had individual built-in hot pots at every table, now they have individual cooktops), and menu offerings. J's introduced a new menu for 2018. Manager Barry "Bear" Dunagan, a restaurant consultant who was hired about a year ago, was a big part of the restaurant's transformation. He not only helped redesign the menu (it's more streamlined now, easier to understand, and with lower prices), but he's hired and trained new staff (well), added to the restaurant's decor, and he even has his own sauce on the sauce bar ("Bear Sauce"). He tells me they go through six bottles of it a day. The customer service is much better than it was during my previous visits. It's like night and day. Shout-out to Arica and Ariel. If you've never had Asian-style hot pot before, this is the best place to get started. Out of all the hot pot places I've been to in metro Atlanta (https://www.yelp.com/list/atlanta-hot-pot-duluth-2), J's is the most newbie-friendly because the staff is well-trained on explaining the menu and the process. While the menu has been redesigned, it still looks busy. However, that's the nature of the beast -- hot pot typically involves many different ingredients, from watercress to quail eggs. J's menu walks you through the hot pot ordering process, step by step, and it has helpful pictures if you're having trouble deciding what to order. At dinnertime, expect to spend $14.95 to $24.95 for an individual hot pot + potential add-ons or premium broths, meats, or sides. They have a special $9.99 lunch menu available Monday-Friday, 12pm-3pm, that includes vegetarian, chicken, pork, beef, and fish fillet options. Meat and seafood offered include chicken, lamb, pork, pork belly, Angus beef, Angus brisket, Angus ribeye, tripe, beef tendon balls, and seafood like fish fillets, shrimp (peeled and unpeeled), clams, mussels, scallops, squid, cuttlefish, and snow crab legs. There are nine different broth options, including some fusion-y broths like Japanese miso broth and Thai tom yum broth, and a self-serve, make-your-own sauce bar. Sauces are essential to hot pot and can make or break your experience. Sauce bar ingredients include garlic, jalapeno, chili sauce, "ponzh" sauce, sesame sauce, scallions, cilantro, chili oil, Chinese BBQ sauce, spicy mayo, soy bean paste, chili oil, hoisin sauce, a house special sauce, and "yummy sauce" (it's sweet). You can mix these any which way you like. One thing I like about J's which I have not seen at any other hot pot restaurant in Atlanta is they have sauce recipe suggestions posted at the bar. So if it's your first time and you don't know what you are doing, you can follow the recipes. During our visit, they had a spicy sauce recipe and a seafood sauce recipe posted. If you're like me and too lazy to make your own sauce, just grab some Bear Sauce. It's delicious. Spicy and savory. I tried four broths: beef bone, vegetarian, Thai tom yum (+$2.99), and Sichuan hot spicy (+$2.99). They were all good. My favorite was the Sichuan hot spicy. I haven't had a hot pot broth like it. It was a deep red, oily broth with red chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns. I love the inclusion of the peppercorns for that "mala" numbing and spicy effect. The Thai tom yum was also tasty. Hot and sour. I think J's has the highest quality meat I've had at any hot pot restaurant in Atlanta. They don't use the cheap stuff. I had the $17.95 meat combo and added pork belly (+$2.00) and Angus ribeye (+$3.00). The meats were terrific. The pork belly was thinly sliced, flat, and had just the right amount of lean meat and fat. I could tell it was pretty good quality based on both its appetizing taste and texture (not too tough, not too fatty). The ribeye was the star of the show. It had beautiful, finely dispersed marbling and was tender, almost juicy. They were the best cuts of beef I've had from restaurant hot pot in recent memory. All hot pot orders come with a bowl of vegetables, sides, and an egg. The menu doesn't specify exactly what these veggies and sides are. I received corn on the cob, broccoli, a fishball, tomato, enoki mushrooms, oyster mushroom, hot dog, taro root, napa cabbage, fish cake, fish tofu, tofu, tofu skin, pumpkin, spinach, carrots, and thin white noodles. You can sub out the default noodles for one of several other noodle types, like udon noodles and ramen noodles, but an upcharge may apply. All of the veggies and sides were fresh and the quality standard.

J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe is an industrial, group-friendly option for Chinese-style soups prepared shabu-shabu style. My first time, it was a great experience and yummy food. The fondue of Asian soup. Pick a broth, stuff you like to put in it and cook away right in front of you. Options for veggie and meat eaters alike. Great for a cold day, or really anytime. A little expensive but worth it. Large portions, large broth pot, I almost took some home. The house sauce is amazing. There was a sauce bar which was awesome. The food cooks at your own speed by how high you have your pot. It can get messy with the bubbling of the broth. I've been to other hot pots, and they just don't cut it. The manager is funny here and staff is very nice. Erica was our waitress and she was really awesome and friendly person, she had helped me in picking up the right stuff from the menu. She took time to explain the menu and how to order. The atmosphere is nice and the hot pot concept is so unique. Besides that, the food is so fresh and delicious. My order for the day was Thai Tom-Yum Broth which is a spicy tangy Thai herb based broth with assorted Seafood and veggies as entree. Do note that they do not sell any alcohol now, they are in process of getting their licence, but you can bring your own wine or beer and they charge few dollars to enjoy your drinks in their premises. As this place is in a small plaza, but the car parking is free in front of the restaurant. I would be sure going back to enjoy the other food on their menu soon.

So far this is my favorite place in Atlanta to get hotpot! I think J's is unique because of the beautiful presentation of their food, and they are one of the few Chinese hotpot places offering lunch specials. But really the freshness and quality of meat and vegetables is what makes this place shine. J's serves Chinese-style hotpot. If you have never had hotpot before, don't be afraid! This is the best place to go for your first time. The staff is friendly and does a great job providing instruction on how to eat hotpot. This is also a great place to go if you are vegetarian. J's Mini Hotpot Deluxe is located on Buford Highway in the same plaza as Harmony Vegetarian and Gu's Kitchen - but on the strip of buildings across from them. There is plenty of parking in the lot. The interior of J's is really cute and has a more modern design. It's very clean inside. Hotpot is typically a communal dining experience so they can accommodate some bigger groups. However, at J's each person gets their own individual pot as opposed to the typical communal pot at other restaurants. As for the menu, first you pick a broth such as beef bone broth, veggie broth, Sichuan hot spicy broth, Thai tom yum broth, spicy broth (different from the Sichuan broth), miso broth, etc. Depending on what kind of broth you get there can be an additional charge. Then you choose what kind of meat you'd like such as beef, fish fillet, seafood, crab, lamb, etc. For the lunch menu you can choose between fish fillet hotpot, beef/pork/chicken hotpot, or veggie hotpot for $9.99. Lunch menu applies Monday-Friday from 11:30AM-3PM. The dinner menu has more meat options but is typically pricier. Each meat entree comes with an assortment of vegetables such as Napa cabbage, taro, tomato, potato, carrot, mushroom, enoki mushroom, spinach, etc. Corn, chicken hotdog, sweet potato glass noodles, egg, fried tofu, tofu skin, and fish ball also comes with your entree. Additional meat and vegetables are available a la carte. You can also change the type of noodles you want for an additional charge. First your broth is served in a small pot and brought to a boil. In the meantime there is a saucebar where you can create your own sauce to dip your meat and vegetables in. They even offer little recipes/instructions for popular sauce creations if you'd like to follow those. I personally always like adding chili oil, garlic, and scallions in my sauce or using sesame sauce in my creation. After you're done at the sauce bar and once your broth is brought to a boil you can start adding vegetables that take longer to cook (ex. Carrot, taro, or potato). Meat (particularly beef slices or lamb) and vegetables such as cabbage tend to cook quickly. It's better to add your noodles at the end. A raw egg is also served with your assortment of vegetables. The raw egg can be cracked open into the pot, hard boiled, or added to your sauce creation or to dip your meat in before placing in the broth (using raw egg for hotpot is commonly done but can also be a health risk, so this is completely up to your discretion). I have only ever tried the angus beef as my meat. For the lunch special they give you a decent portion. For dinner it is more pricey but they give you 3x more beef which is awesome. I was really stuffed from the dinner portion. It was almost too much for me but I'm not complaining! I have tried the beef bone broth, spicy broth, and Sichuan hot spicy broth. All broths are delicious but my favorite broth is the Sichuan broth. I got the Sichuan broth "regular spicy" and it was perfect for me. The meat is good quality. The beef slices are not too fatty, tough, or chewy. The vegetables are also fresh. Compared to other hotpot places, I think J's stands out because of the fresh quality of their ingredients and the presentation of their food. I was amazed by the elegant assortment of meat and veggies presented to me. If you run out of broth, they will refill your broth for you. Service is always good.

Arrived just a little after 6:30pm with my sister. Parked close to the restaurant with no issue. Parking lot is big. Barry, the manager greeted us immediately upon entering. We informed him that we were with a big group for a UYE and he directed us to our section. This was my and my sister's first time at this location. The decor is modern and bright. The restaurant is clean. The staff, including Barry were very friendly, attentive, and patient throughout the entire meal. Our server, Arica was wonderful! To start, you choose a broth, a protein/entree, and a side if you wish. My sis and I decided on: Miso broth Beef bone broth Angus beef $18.95 Pork belly $17.95 Udon noodle $3 Each entree came with vegetables and a raw egg. We also made our sauces according to their suggestions from the sauce bar. Although a bit pricey, everything was fresh and delicious! Both broths had great flavor without being salty. My favorites were the miso broth and angus beef. It went really well with the house sauce. You cook the food at your own rate and temperature. I tend to use a lot of napkins when eating so I really liked that each customer gets their own drawer of napkins. No reaching over necessary! Our total came to $53+, but the food and the experience made it all worth it! Will definitely return and recommend to others. They also own the dessert place next door, so I will have to try that next time!

We usually frequent a local AYCE Hot Pot. However, it appears that these options are fine. Ramen came with the powder packet served on plate. So it did not say spicy. Well, it was very. Noodles didn't turn out very food. The shaved ice dessert at the end of the meal was excellent!

Parking || Spacious parking in the same shopping center as Pho Bac. Service || Our waiter was funny and had great character but the actual service was just okay. We had to ask a few times for water and remind him. No one came to refill our soup until everyone was done eating (I actually didn't know if was an option). Food || CUTEST personal pots as they're Le Crueset. Meats were good and you get way more options compared to the one in Duluth -- but I can't see why I'm paying $10 extra just for that. Albeit, I haven't been to the one in Duluth in a minute, but the last time I was there I remember spending $16. Here, my meal cost $25. The veggie was a ton ton ton of Napa cabbage. Not my favorite but also personal preference. Plus no free dessert. They give you a coupon to go next door to MIST. I went with a party of 6 which brings it to about $150 for the meal, alcohol not included. Being Asian... I can't justify that cost lol, I will most likely just put $150 towards prepping it myself.
