J's On The Bay

I received a gift card from a friend, I am so glad she shared this place with me. I went for lunch with a friend and have to say, it was so delicious. We both had lunch specials which included soup, salad or fries. I do not remember all the choices of sandwiches there were so many. The next table had the burgers and they all seemed to really enjoy them, they were made from a blend that sounded delicious. My friend and I chose the Truffle chicken sandwich on focaccia with a side salad and the Asian beef sandwich which came on Italian bread. All I can say is the food was more delicious than the descriptions. The salad was perfect, and as you can see the chicken sandwich had so many flavors which all worked really well. My friend ate every bite of his sandwich he said it was amazing! I will definitely come back for dinner, and lunch again. What a fantastic place! The waiter was great and he really helped us make a decision, he knew the menu well and wasn’t rushing us. I forgot to mention when we were initially seated we were presented with mini croissants that were warm with a chocolate butter. So freakin good! We will be back for sure, there were so many things I need to try.

Quite possibly one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had on Staten Island, if not ever. Our waiter, George, checked on us numerous times, made some jokes, and made us feel welcome. The food itself was beyond delicious. The grilled octopus was the most tender piece of octopus that I’ve ever had, and is a must-get. Restaurants like this one are why I often find myself grateful to be a Staten Islander. All in all, worth every penny and have never been more certain of a 5-star rating.

Omggggg I cannot talk about this place enough. First of all the food is so wonderful and delicious and the service is great. When you see the pictures of what we ordered, you are literally going to salivate. Our breakfast platter had such an array of options that the people sitting next to us, saw it and could not refrain from ordering the same thing. Now let me skip to character nights. My granddaughter looks so forward to meeting her favorite characters on these special days… with that being said, I highly recommend you check out this fantastic gem on Staten Island…

My Top 10 must try restaurants on Staten Island. If you value excellent food with great service at a reasonable price, then look no more. I pity anyone who hasn’t tried J’s On The Bay’s classic chicken and waffles, and who can forget the croissants and chocolate butter spread that comes out fresh with each meal! Delectable- Delicious - Definitely worth it!!! I personally don’t consider anyone a true Staten Islander who hasn’t been there at least once.

I took my daughter here to enjoy a girl's brunch for her 14th birthday. It was a great time! We enjoyed our food and the service was great! I'm so thankful we were able to get a seat as I learned (upon arrival) that it's best to have a reservation on Sundays as they fill up quickly. We enjoyed the food we ordered, plus the complimentary croissants w/chocolate butter. Every single bite was eaten 😋. Great job!

Been frequenting this place since diner days. Chef Joe has elevated the menu and it doesn’t disappoint. Everything was good. Went for a birthday breakfast/brunch. The steak, chicken and fries that day was a tad over done.. But I’ll definitely be back, everything else was delicious! Especially the appetizer. I heard Chef Joe wasn’t there that day.

We loved this place! Me and my wife did our taxes in Brooklyn and on our way back to New Jersey we wanted to stop for dinner somewhere in between and I'm so happy we found J's on the bay. The service was great. Our server George was so friendly and kind. He really made us feel like family. The food was so delicious. They started us with a a home made bread and truffle ricotta. We ordered mozzarella sticks, but they were handmade and came with a vodka sauce. So good. My wife got the short ribs with a cauliflower/potato mash mix and that also was delicious. I got an amazing chicken and waffle pizza. Everything was so delicious and felt like it was made just for us. We also loved the brunch menu. Can't wait to come back.

Cozy spot with a great assortment of tasty dishes. The pancakes we got today were beyond divine… As a ‘great white’ pizza, which we addition with Lobster, it's made a perfect balance of taste and juiciness. Service was friendly and welcoming too.

This was my second try at this restaurant for brunch...The first one bombed and we had to leave before eating . The ambiance was loud and the service sucked from the inception. My friend kept saying she had a great experience the food was good when she tried it ... she doesn't know what happened when I gave it a try ...So I gave it another try . What a turn around the second time around . My server was perfect!! Customer service is always a great start for me. The food was indeed delicious. I settled for the Jay's BEC, still not trusting. The fried spinach was it for me . Delicious! I needed more of that. . The little croissant was a tease with that spread. The coffee was perfect and my pineapple juice in the matching glass made me smile . The ambiance ( the seating in the back) was perfect for my solo woos-a brunch ! Check it out ... they have valet parking if you need it . Next time I will try the spirited drinks . Oh I think the price was reasonable and matched the experience! Do check it out for yourself.

Came here on a Wednesday for their kid's night (they have a person dressed up as a cartoon character-today they had Bluey. Check their instagram for upcoming characters/dates) with my family since my nieces and nephew were obsessed with Bluey. We made reservations for 8ppl the night before with no issue. Place is cozy in the front, and they have a backroom that's a bit more spacious. We were seated in the back. Bluey walked around the restaurant quite often. She stayed and danced with the kids, took pictures, said hi. She was really interactive with them. The kids loved it. On to the food. Food was pretty good as well. For kid's night(wednesday nights), each adult entree comes with a free kid's menu item/kid. (Fyi: pizza is not considered an entree). At other times, there is a charge for kid's entree. Pepper honey pie pizza- it was good! It was prepared Sicilian style. The dough/crust was so airy unlike other sicilians I've had before. We really enjoyed the pizza My dad had the linguini vongole and he liked it. Lasagna was flavorful. I tried a bit of the squid ink pasta and it was decent. The kids had the cheese pizza and chicken tender with fries. They were good as well. Our waiter was super friendly and patient considering the mess/noise our kids made. Overall, the kids had a great time here and food is pretty good!

Where have I been???? J's is about 10 min from me and I've never been there. Finally!!! The breakfast menu isn't humongous but what they offer is very different from the usual fare. Good coffee A few mini croissants with chocolate butter are put on the table. I could have chowed down on just that and have been happy. The pistachio stuffed French toast with pistachio mascarpone was to die for. My friend had the banana fosters French toast which was also amazing. Had to get the crispy potatoes as a side. Just fantastic . I'd go back in a second and will also try lunch. The lunch menu looks fantastic as well.

Wow what a great experience. I was there years ago, but this newly renovated place is great. I saw on instagram a video for Frozen Espresso Martinis. They did not disappoint. Perfect cocktail on a hot night. Both servers George and Giuseppe were great. We had the firecracker calamari to start and then the spicy vodka chicken cutlet parm pizza for 2, and churros for dessert. I will be back. It was delicious!!

Dropped in on a Friday for lunch with my daughter and bestie. We got seated in the back room which was great. Our server was amazing! Such good service. He was a gentleman with curly brown hair and glasses. Soo friendly and had so many suggestions. Just great service from Him. Ambiance is very nice. The back is like a patio and the pizza oven is back there. The complimentary croissants were Soo good. Cheese pizza for my kid--she ate 3 slices lol. I had the J's BEC--the spinach, bacon and spicy aioli was delish--however wasn't a fan of everything else with it. Drinks were great--my fave was probably the espresso martini my server had made and it was delish! I would def come back to try more of the menu plus great service! He needs a raise that kid lol

Just left J's on the Bay and was left speechless how GREAT of a dining experience it was . Service was outstanding the owner Joe a gentleman and very friendly felt like I knew him forever . The food was very VERY GOOD ! Pizza is a must which we got as an appetizer ,All our meals were full of flavor and defiantly tasted the main ingredient TLC . Was blown away with the dessert a calzone w ricotta , pistachio a chocolate drizzle stole the show .

OMG this is the BEST place to go with kids! Food was very tasty and the staff was BEYOND nice. Here's the best part- on Wednesdays they have a character who comes and hangs out with the kids! My kids had a blast and ignored us while we enjoyed great food, great drink, and great service! 100/10 parents recommend!

Finally got around to trying J's on the bay tonight with some good friends have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the restaurant food and service both very good, Joe the owner very nice guy, will definitely go back again.

Stopped in to avoid sitting in traffic and so happy we did! The appetizers were AMAZING. Everything was an elevated classic. We ordered the mozzarella battens which had a house made breading and came with vodka sauce. We also got lobster Rangoon, which were packed with creamy lobster and had fresh herbs. This app also came with a special sauce - scallion jam. I can't decide which appetizer we liked better! We split the lobster tagliatelle which was a really good size for sharing. We definitely left very satisfied. Lastly, the service was also great - George took good care of us the whole time. Next time I'm on Staten Island, will def stop in to try even more things on the menu.

Really like the chic vibe here. Wasn't blown away by the food. Poor choices on my behalf. Pizza had really fresh ingredients. Little to no crisp on grandma. French dip wasn't spectacular. The Demi glacé was spicy on back end with the smell and consistency of a teriyaki. Should've ordered brunch items as seemed to be more creativity here. Will return for dinner as menu is interesting and that would be the true judge.

We went here for Mother's Day dinner ( pre fixe) and the food was absolutely fantastic. The service was outstanding and our whole family agreed it was one of the best meals we had in a long time! Mom was very happy

Our server George was a gentleman. He truly wanted to make our dining experience pleasant. We went to J's for my wife's birthday. She is gluten and dairy free. She had pizza with/ cheese and pepperoni. She said it was good. Dinner consisted of short rib. It was tender, like butter. I also had roasted Brussel Sprouts. I enjoyed them. For dessert George brought outa flourless chocolate cake w/ a candle (that was kind). I had pistachio crème brûlée, very nice. We would recommend J's on the Bay!

Food was amazing in the beginning now they went way below the must simple thing can't be accomplished ask for sunny upside eggs brings me burnt eggs disappears never return to the table and never apologized and in top of that made me pay for the crap. I don't. Understand the manager respond like I said no one ever came to the table I had been there at least 5 times saw the decline in services how long more would I had to wait for a manager I paid and I left hope you didn't expect a good review after what happen the good when I first went was pretty good then you saw the decline in services I am entitled to an opinion no need to get upset fix it so it doesn't happen to anyone else

Love the food and service. You get chocolate butter and croissants before your order. Really enjoy the eggs with vodka sauce.

Food was great but when I walked in I was the ONLY woman of color in the entire restaurant! I felt extremely uncomfortable!! I believe the owner/manager took my fiancé's and I order... he rushed through the whole thing, wasn't interested in explaining the menu to us. He bought out my drink without a straw and was annoyed when I asked him to please give me a straw, he came back and placed the straw middle of the table instead of handing it to me. Rude and felt bit xenophobic...shame because all the cooks were Hispanic/Latino. If you're a person of color, you've been warned...0/10 recommend. Service is terrible!

J's On The Bay is phenomenal. The food is beyond amazing. The menu selection was amazing and the presentation was impressive. The flavors were funky and eclectic, absolutely delicious. We had such an amazing time, the ambiance was incredible and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Thank you guys for such an incredible meal!! We look forward to coming back.

Wow I was so disappointed here. I had came to this restaurant before it got renovated and service was good and so was food. Today, I go here for dinner, place is practically empty, no waiter just a man before the bar who does not say hello or welcomes us in. We sat on our own and then the waiter shows up. We place food order, he was very interested in the order we wanted the food brought out. We had the lobster bisque and pasta F fagioli first. Both very delicious and good portions. Then our main course comes, a lentil burger and kung pao wings. The burger was very big and came with sweet potatoes. BUT the wings were disgusting to say the least. Felt undercooked, no flavor the sauce with whole peanuts was underwhelming. Did not expect that to be the wings I ordered at all. So I put it to the side, after a bite and when the waiter comes over to pick the plates, ask oh you don't want anymore? I tell him I did not like them at all and he just retrieves the plate and goes "oh ok". Never offered me something else or to remove it from our check. So the bill comes and yup he did not even give a discount. NO customer service etiquette.

J's features inventive cuisine served in a cozy setting near the water front. The meat loaf, short ribs, quinoa salad, and bread pudding are highly recommended. The restaurant is also open for daily brunch which is greatly sppreciated.

Had a lovely time it's quaint thoughtful styled the service was great and food was tasty & fresh! We will be returning & bonus right up the block from the water & Alice Austen house nice to check out some beautiful views as we did after!

Today was my third time at J's On The Bay and I must say this has been one of the most enjoyable lunch time meals I've ever had. I had the burger which was good but most importantly I took a bite of my partner's Chocolate Banana Fosters French Toast and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Espresso Martini was perfect, not too sweet just the way I like it and the Bianco Negroni was a 10 on my cocktail scale. Sitting in the back is always cozy vibe. Finally are server Shana was great and this was the second time she provided us excellent service. Give that girl a raise .

The decor is cozy, pretty. It's small but very nice vibes. Service was good, Food was good, I ordered the chicken and waffles. I wasn't blown away. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The mimosas was great.

Nice spot on the island. Came here on a thursday afternoon around 2pm. The staff here were amazing! very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed everything we ordered and portions are very large! We couldn't even finish everything! Ordered: Italian frittata (it doesnt come with avocados but asked for avocado to be added), country friendly chicken & waffle (theres a scallion sauce thats pretty interesting, sweet and savory at the same time), Parm fries, croissant with chocolate butter for the table. They didn't have a drink menu at this time. Total spent about $60. Definitely would come back again!

Place is small but great atmosphere, food was delicious staff was friendly & fantastic, had the calamari it was spectacular... can wait to go back and try some of their pizzas...

Sad to say, but take out is terrible. Which sucks because the few times I actually went to the restaurant it was great! The chicken salad sandwich would be great if there was actually chicken on the sandwich. It was all lettuce and avocado. The burger was supposed to be medium and it was well done and dry. Very upsetting. If people are going to order out, the quality of the food should remain the same!

Looks like a regular diner but they have something special going on here! I haven't been to new location but when they we're transitioning I ordered takeaway and it was delicious. I will be ordering again soon!

Sunday morning I'm at work, and desperately wanting some chicken and waffles.. Searched, and searched. And found this place. Had my chicken and waffles delivered, and enjoy it. The rest of my Sunday was beautiful.. Thank you!!

Nice looking place very clean, nice staff. I've given 3 stars here because my order was not correct. I ordered a plain cheeseburger cooked medium and specified no pickles no lettuce no tomatoes and whaaaam! Pickle juices were in the bun tomatoes were there with some poorly flavored salad. And was almost closer to well done. For 25 buckeroos better off at McDonald's at least they listen to your order and get it right. To top it off, (by the way, this was a to go order) No napkins or utensils. This should hopefully improve their service.

The food is so delicious and the service is excellent! I had shrimp and grits and my hubby had the burger! The food was so tasty! I had the banana bread pudding for dessert - it was yummy! Cocktails were great too! I highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return if in the area again.

Loved the food but the crinkle fries I didn't like . I did DoorDash so I can't really say if service are up to par in person . Hope this helps in anyway

I was excited to order from this place and from the lunch special. I ordered to take out and was disappointed. 1. Double smoke blt on ciabatta was under cooked, they add extras like avocado and cherry tomato. Not the usual blt that I'm used too. The French fries were cold and hard. 2. Roast beef sandwich on ciabatta had caramelizes onion and mozzarella. This one the beef was over cooked. Nothing special and should've been name a philly cheese steak with mozzarella. Lunch special comes with fries/soup/or salad And a drink...didn't sound bad. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing...

This is one of my favorite local neighborhood spots in Staten Island. It's in the Rosebank area , right off of the Verrazano bridge if you're driving or a few bus stops away from the Ferry if you're on PT (public transportation) It's a family owned breakfast/ lunch nook with a creative twist. Very welcoming staff, service is great , the food is bomb!& reasonably priced. Gourmet upscale diner vibes. A must try

Craft cocktails. Perfect pizza and a great salad with steak. Followed by amazing milk shakes for dessert. All on Bay Street. I was too busy eating that I didn't take any pics.

Outstanding service and food. We were blown away by the quality and flavors of every dish. We had: mozzarella sticks, sweet potato croquette, garlic parm wings for appetizers. For dinner we had risotto, chicken artichoke dish and short rib. Everything was 10/10!

I have tried so many things off of their menu! EACH DISH IS DELICIOUS. they have Greta customer service and the best iced coffee in town. I can't decide my favorite dish but I've never been disappointed.

We heard great things about this place The food was alright, but the service was incredibly slow. I think the kitchen might have been to blame. Two tables walked out due to the wait. When our food arrived, one of the dishes was a little cold and our Benedict came with the hollandaise broken, which is some pretty rookie level cooking we didn't expect from this place. I'm surprised they served it to us. Overall it felt like an off day for the restaurant.

I've been coming to j's for the last several years. the food is incredible, the service is top tier, and the ambiance is perfect for a Sunday morning brunch. would HIGHLY recommend. get the chicken and waffles and the lemon ricotta pancakes if you're going for brunch. easily the best things on the menu.

This restaurant was very cute for meeting up with family for brunch on staten island, which is the midway point between where we both live. Making a rez on the website was convenient and upon arrival, we were seated right away. Service was attentive at first when it came to ordering but then things slowed down when it came to food coming out. Soups didn't come out for at least 30 minutes and then after that it took about another hour minutes until our food came out. Out waitresses was M.I.A pretty often after taking the initial orders but thankfully the manager was around and pitching in to pick up the slack. When the food did finally come, everyone's butminecame out. I got to sit there for ten minutes until after telling the manager it finally came. He did, however, apologize sincerely and then sent out three desserts for us to share on the house which was a very kind gesture that was greatly appreciated by all of us. The food was average, portions were ok, not great, but I'm still on the fence about whether I'd return.

Quality food, I enjoyed the croissants with chocolate they serve as you wait for food. The strawberry short cake pan cakes were worth the wait, will come back to try other breakfast items.

This is my second time coming to the location and my only complaint is I feel like their menu options could be better (no Option for kids and everything is definitely not normal kid friendly foods). With that being said the food we ate was great! The service was ok, nothing over the top and definitely laid back. We came on a hot day and choose to stay inside. It was comfortable but a bit crowded. The bathroom is extremely small and made it very difficult for us to take our son to the bathroom. The decor is really cute, gives you like a 50s food vibe. Which is strange cause the food doesn't match the decor at all! I got the chicken and waffles which was delicious! The bacon onion jam was a little excessive but easy to take off as per your taste! We also got the sweet potato appetizer which was amazing! My husband got the truffle Mac n cheese and was in love! We would definitely come back to this location again, and more than likely try their outside area which looks very cute and a little less crowded! And most likely come without my son next time.

We had the Banana Walnut Pancakes and the Banana Foster French Toast. Both a slice of heaven. Service so attentive. Nice to have a restaurant like this around. They make you feel like family.

Went for a weekday breakfast. Was disappointed by the overall lack of freshness and quality in their food. The mini croissants were hot and good. Then it quickly went downhill from there. The breakfast potatoes were barely room temperature - it wasn't even microwaved properly. The pancakes and waffles were also obviously reheated and again, slightly warmer than room temperature. I can taste the lack of freshness in them - that lack of bouncy texture in your mouth that tells you that it's been a while since they were made. What a disappointment. At least the eggs were fried that morning. Will not be going back. Don't waste your money here. You're better off with store bought breakfast foods.

Went to dinner with my daughter and we enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. We will definitely return.

Wow! First of all, the customer service was impeccable. Even the kitchen staff was friendly and jovial, chatting with us through the window while we sat at the bar. Our server Mia was amazing and went above and beyond for us. We had the meatball parm burger which was unique, flavorful, and juicy! There is no bun, instead, it sits on a "bun" of fried to a crisp spaghetti. It's then topped with marinara and fresh mozz. We also had the JBA grilled cheese which was another hit! Great toasted bread with bacon, avocado, pesto, and fresh mozz. Finally, we finished the meal with the banana Nutella fluff milkshake. This milkshake takes a lot of work! The server has to slice the banana, top it with sugar, and then Caramelize it with a torch. When Mia went to make my milkshake, she realized they were out of bananas and ran across the street to buy bananas just to make my milkshake! Any other server would have apologized and ask that I pick a different milkshake, but not Mia! We cannot wait to go back to J's on the Bay.

This is such a cute little diner with a retro vibe! They have weekly specials and a large breakfast/brunch and regular menu. My family came for breakfast one day and we absolutely loved the service and the food. The French toast is to die for! My sister ordered a lobster roll and it came with large chucks of delicious lobster over buttered toast. The kicker is that they have a large array of decadent milkshakes and my biggest regret is just ordering the coffee. Next time... Note: I'd recommend coming here with a smaller group because the space is more intimate. They also have a bar area if you prefer to sit on a stool. Overall, we loved our experience here, we will be coming back again for brunch.

Atmosphere is great. Music choice perfect. Friendly staff, old school look inside, great outdoor setup. Despite the fact that we came in summer heat, the back outdoor seating area was shaded completely and had a nice breeze. I also noticed, in the corner, a heat lamp obviously for the winter months. Staff: 10 out of 10 Very inviting, warm and welcoming. Waitress was Extremely helpful and went back and forth to the kitchen multiple times to make sure there was no ingredient that could possibly cause any allergic reactions for me. That was more appreciated than ever. Drinks: 10 out of 10 Review is based on the drinks we had, which included the Not so lucky charm, sangria slushee, and a caramel coffee shake. Husband also tried the s'mores drink and says it was better than the others in his opinion. Food: 9 out of 10 The only reason we lost a point here is because I had ordered the famous steakhouse burger. Personally I believe a burger should Fill a sandwich, not just be the center. It truly takes away from the bites around the edges. I also ordered my burger Medium and it came pretty well done, almost dry. Aside from that, the wings appetizer, lobster Rangoon, Mac and cheese and chicken sandwich were amazing!!! The sweet potato fries were nicely seasoned with salt and pepper. Restrooms: 2 out of 10 I give it 2 points bc it has a working toilet and sink and had ample toilet paper. Otherwise, it was a little dirty and definitely too small. I would hate to think of any handicapped person or even a child or even any female using it. Males can stand nd splash everything, women have to realize the wall is practically touching the toilet seat. Despite the burger and the restroom, this is a Great little whole in the wall food spot with and I Love that the waitress came out to check on us consistently. Especially since we were the only ones outside and there were also guests inside.

Excellent pancakes with lemon blueberry compost and ricotta! Coffee good. Highly recommended.
