Had a great experience at JT Country Kitchen! The place was packed when we arrived, so we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but it was well worth it. Once seated, service was efficient—our order arrived in about 15 minutes, which was impressive given how busy they were. The steak was perfect, cooked just right and full of flavor. Everything we ordered was well-prepared, and the portions were satisfying. Definitely a great spot for a hearty meal. If you're planning to visit, be prepared for a bit of a wait, but rest assured, the food and service make up for it!

It’s definitely a long wait with limited communication. It appeared they were understaffed but the lack of communication made it frustrating. We had to ask possible manager/hostess for refills on our drinks. Our waitress brought our drinks and took our order. We did not speak to her again until she informed us the kitchen was backed up and our food s next. We were party of four. They brought my wife’s food out and the three of us waited nearly 5 minutes until the rest of our food came out. The food was good and the outdoor/indoor ambiance was nice. The waitress could have easily communicated that they were backed up and we would not have to wonder, guess or assume. If in town stop by but understand you will wait to get in and if they’re kitchen is short staff you will wait for your food. Look at the BLT sandwich, I’ve seen more bacon on a BLT. Photos below

This place is a gem! I eat breakfast here whenever I'm in Joshua Tree. The inside seating is limited, and this place is popular, so get there when they open at 7. I loved the biscuits and gravy and chocolate chip pancakes. The portions are huge, so I recommend sharing meals. The service is warm and friendly. It reminds me of my Granny's trailer in Florida, and I mean that in the best way. I love this place!

Google
Had a great time with a big group at breakfast. We loved the country diner atmosphere and service. And I was delightfully surprised that the food was solid! Also, great value for cost, which is tough to find in touristy areas. I got the prime steak and eggs, and added a $5 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. Everything was great and steak was cooked well-seasoned and to the medium rare I’d requested. Only nitpicks were that they do not have high chairs for young kids and the food wait took around 25 minutes. I’d still visit again in a heartbeat for a great breakfast.

Google
A good country style dining. Service is very friendly. Handicap parking and ramp are available but have to drive to the back parking lot. My jalapeno hamburger is really tasty. I was full, but still some left. Because it was so delicious, i was able to manage to squeeze in my stomach. My friends said their soup was really good also. Next time i am near, i will try the soup and other tasty items.

Update: we went for breakfast and tried the biscuits and gravy meal and French Toast. 2 hour wait during the holiday weekend, so we shopped nearby. We ordered the special of the day, the Ruben, (it was lean, not fatty) with cole slaw which was shredded finely and delicious. The tuna melt was great also. The mimosas had a good sparkling wine with store bought juices, I liked the grapefruit, not the pear juice. Lisa and all the wait staff there were friendly and helpful. Everything looked good. Next time we'll try the churro pancakes. Limited parking out back. There was a fun mix of diner, roosters, and dessert theme. Pro tip: make sure you put your name on the hostess list in the front part of the outdoor part of the restaurant. There are three bathrooms, one outside and two inside the inside diner. There is a drink stand so you can have a coffee or alcoholic drink while you wait. Wish: It would be great if there were more benches and shade out back.

Google
Over 45 minute wait but the food was great. 7 people in our party and everyone was pleased with the food. Thick cut bacon! Generous but not super size portions. Michelada was delish!

Country Kitchen Joshua Tree, California Quick stop in Joshua Tree, California to have breakfast at Country Kitchen. As many times as we visited Joshua Tree, California, we always wondered why they had long lines. Now we know why. The food was delicious and they gave large portions. The food also came out quickly and the service was great. The staff members were all friendly and outgoing. We definitely will return again when we are in the area

Yelp
We tried this place bc of all the great reviews and it didn't disappoint! The food was amazing and so was the service! I got the biscuits and gravy, and shared their buttermilk pancake with my fiancé. Everything was 10/10 delicious! I would recommend trying this place if you are in the area.

Yelp
A nice place for lunch or brunch before heading into Joshua Tree. Diner esque with classic American dishes. It won't blow you away but it's solid good food. Literally right in front of the road in the north entrance, easy to grab a bite before going into the park or taking a mid day break when the sun is too hot. NOTE: there is absolutely no food options in the park. We got the breakfast burrito and the california Turkey club sandwich. Turkey was nice and moist with fresh lettuce and tomatoes, which were a good contrast to the heat. The breakfast burrito (with chorizo, additional extra add on) was nice and big and filling. Add some guacamole and it's a complete meal. Big enough to share for two people who aren't too hungry. Service was good and friendly. There's an indoor and outdoor space. Outdoor space is shaded. Plenty of parking in front and around the restaurant. No free wifi.

Yelp
JT Country Kitchen seems like the obvious place for brunch if you're in the area (there's really not many options). My friends and I stopped by for brunch after checking out of our Airbnb. We arrived promptly at 11am and waited for about 75 minutes (they had originally told us 35 minutes). I ordered the spinach feta omelette with country potatoes and sourdough toast. The omelette was just ok - it wasn't super flavorful and there wasn't much spinach or feta. The potatoes were nice and crispy on the outside - fluffy on the inside. The sourdough toast was good, but they put soo much butter on it lol it tasted great but I felt very guilty after eating it Docking 2 stars because my water cup had a bug in it, the wait was over 2x longer than they estimated, and my dish was just ok. The service here is very friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating (and also a shaded bench area for waiting). 2 gender neutral restrooms inside and also outside. There is free parking on the street and they have a small parking lot in the back.

April P.

Yelp
The wait is very long and the food is just okay. They will bring water to drink while you wait for hours so that's good. They should probably limit the seating time to 2 hours during the tourist season. They do have alcoholic drinks and different flavors of mimosas. They also don't allow outside food and drinks and you're unsure if you'll be waiting for 15mins to 2 hours so I think that should also adjust that rule. I personally believe that 2 hours is way to long to wait on eggs and French toast. Once you are seated, it moves pretty quickly and they have some nice outdoor seating which is pet friendly. I probably would try somewhere else or just get food on the road if I had a choice.

Ane U.

Yelp
DELISH!!!!!!!!!!! Worth the wait! Chill, comfy, polite and friend service. The food is very home style and delicious! Definitely recommend. The door host was beyond friendly and wonderful! :-)

Michael S.

Yelp
A JT staple!!! Honestly, if you're near the park entrance and you want a cafe, it's here or Crossroads Cafe across the street. I have had many great meals here, but this was a particularly nice breakfast, sitting at the counter with a few locals. The breakfast burrito is simple, but excellent! I eat a lot of breakfast burritos but this one is top tier -- simple but high quality ingredients, good-sized, and tasty! The service was really friendly and my coffee and water never went below half full before it was refilled with a smile. I love this place and I will continue to visit when I'm in the area!

Yelp
Woke up in Joshua Tree wanting a really good brunch place. Found JT Country Kitchen with some quick research. And honestly, I have no idea how I missed coming here on my last trip to Joshua Tree in August, because this place is EXACTLY what I was looking for. This menu has endless options that I would absolutely crush without question. However, I can only have one. So when push comes to shove, I'm probably always going to get a damn omelette LOL. Couldn't really decide on any of the default omelettes on offer, so I just decided to make my own with sausage and onions. Gotta get it with some crispy hash browns of course. And when I saw gravy was an option, you damn right I got it. Unfortunately they ran out of biscuits, so I had to settle for an English muffin. Anyways, the food was absolutely spectacular. Huge portions and cooked exactly how I was dreaming of brunch in my head. I couldn't have asked for more. Also tried some of my girlfriend's Country Fried Steak. If I hadn't wanted an omelette so bad, I would have ordered this and demolished it. So good! Service here is great! Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. The space itself is not very big inside, although they do have an outside area. Ended up sitting at the bar area after waiting about 30 minutes. JT Country Kitchen is definitely going to be a must visit every time I am in the area. Too good!

Lauren P.

Yelp
I loved brunch at Country Kitchen! We had an hour wait on a raining saturday morning and spent the time at the nearby vintage shops. The inside is pretty small with only a handful of tables. The staff is so nice and friendly and the food is amazing. The pancake was incredible, as were their biscuits. We had seen the place on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend coming here if you're in Joshua Tree. It's worth the wait.

Yelp
Patron sitting next to me and myself both had hair in our meals. The patron let the waitress know and the waitresses response was apathetic. "Oh ok. Sorry to hear that." And the lady was super chill about it and continued eating. She stated that she just wanted to let them know and the waitress finally said "do you want us to remake it?" Why was that not offered right away? I found that to be such an odd encounter. Why are you not comping her meal? She seemed to be a local too. Kinda weird and gross. A few minutes later I notice a stubbly beard-esque looking hair on my plate too. Seeing how the waitress handled the situation, I decided to stop eating and just not do anything. Not like it would've mattered or been handled. Basically you might get hair in your food and they'll offer to make you another one but if you got hair in our food once what's stopping it from happening again? No one is wearing hairnets or even a hat in the kitchen ( I looked from the window into the kitchen) The hyped up blueberry pancakes didn't have even coloring, kinda skimpy on the blueberries. Honestly, I've had better at IHOP. I got the OJ since they said it was home made and it wasn't doing much anyways. I'd skip this place. I would say it ranks below a random Denny's or Norms. Save your coins.

Desiree J.

Yelp
This is a great brunch spot in JT. Super cute decor. The hostess really tries to talk you out of waiting but the servers are more than excited to have you. It was about a 50 minute wait on a Sunday at 11. Our server was a delight. They have a lot of Cambodian influence in their recipes which I didn't expect but love. Food was pretty good. Hefty portions. It's a very hearty meal that will make you want a nap after! They also had a fundraiser going for JT national park which is awesome.

Aimee D.

Yelp
We visited the area and yelped this place. Waited an hour at prime time. However, worth the wait! We had the most delicious pancakes! The fresh biscuits were amazing!! Eggs, bacon, potatoes, chicken fried steak, patty melt... we tried it all. So good! Service was friendly and this place is a gem Joshua Tree. We miss it already!

Philip N.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service, always makes us feel welcomed, and takes care of their veterans! FYI the thin rice noodle salad with chicken is AMAZING!

Kylee F.

Yelp
This place felt like home honestly! Weekends get busy for breakfast so get in early! Food was fantastic and service was very pleasant! I would recommend this place for a cute country style breakfast or chill outdoor seating on the warmer days! We loved it here

Andy H.

Yelp
This place was packed when we arrived with a wait. And that is a good sign, freshly squeezed orange juice. Some of the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had and a fantastic chili bean omelet all in all so glad. I had breakfast here.

Julie L.

Yelp
This place is a joke. I guess the out of towners are used to paying a ridiculous amount of money for very little. But, I like to get a little something for what I pay for, including taste. There is nothing special about the food. It's bland and cold. If this place draws the crowd it does for the quality and quantity you get, I could get rich with what I cook for breakfast. At least I know how to season my food when I prepare it and it's delicious. Thought I'd enjoy a breakfast prepared for me for a change....not so much!

Erica H.

Yelp
Good food. Great service. Very accommodating. Bet clean. Best place to get breakfast. Vegan options. Dog friendly. Our dogs loved it.

Rick J.

Yelp
Well now, thank you YELP... found this one thanks to all of your reviewers, the positive ones anyway. YELP Short Answer: YES, it is small, old, kind of clean, and perfect for what it is. I'd say mind yourself here, don't be a dick as these people are super nice. LOCATION: easy on street parking seems to be a lot of it. BUILDOUT: Guessing their last remodel was before I was born and it has such a patina I would not change a thing. Super small inside, if it is going to be busy I'd say ordering to-go would be a better option, I think they had 8 tables and a few bar seats. MENU: Everything you need is right here, Breakfast and Lunch. Nothing fancy and no edible flowers here. FOOD PREP: Looks pretty diner friendly. FOOD QUALITY: Excellent prepared like a boss was in the kitchen but whoever knows their line cook duties. WAITSTAFF: Amazing and friendly, I am sure 90% locals so sometime as a tourist, you can get the stink eye in a place like this but we felt very welcomed. OVERALL VALUE: Fair pricing, great good, lots of food. I was starving from hiking the previous day and left food on my plate. TIP: Get in get a table and be respectful of the table turn. Don't linger if people are waiting this small indoor space needs a good turns. However, I think they know their business and would tell you to skedaddle if you were there too long.

Oscar R.

Yelp
First time eating at this spot and it was really unique and delicious. We waited about an hour to be seated for two people but we just walked around the area in the meantime stopping by shops. The service was really great and everyone was so nice and attentive. The inside was small but didn't feel as cramped when we began to eat and look around. Experience was fantastic and would definitely eat here again!

Rachel H.

Yelp
JT Country Kitchen is a classic old-style country diner specializing in breakfast all day, with a smattering of lunch. We sat at an avocado green vinyl booth & ordered a plate of classic french toast, and I asked what breakfast item had the most vegetables, and was directed to their vegan platter with spinach, tomato, mushroom, pepper and onions, and hash browns, to which I added tortillas and scrambled eggs. Coffee was diner quality, with dairy creamer served in packets, and service was fast & friendly. Just about all you'd need or expect in a place like JT's.

Ticha B.

Yelp
JT's Country Kitchen is the real deal! A must stop if you're in Joshua Tree or if you're passing through. This is truly a "country kitchen". The decor is country, you wouldn't think you were eating in Southern California, it's has a country vibe indeed. The food is amazing. I am a pancake lover and had their Apple Cider pancakes, to die for. Not overly sweet, nice chunks of apple and an amazing taste! This is a specialty pancake so JT probably doesn't have the Apple Cider pancakes all the time. Look for their daily menus on the chalkboard. Their breakfast is hardy! Bacon, sausages, eggs, tons of other amazing dishes. In addition to the normal non-alcoholic drinks, JT has beer, mimosas, Micheladas, etc. There were tons of parking on the street and parking in the back lot. Customer service was awesome too!

Colette H.

Yelp
Loved this place! I'm so glad I stopped here. I have tried the breakfast burrito, pancakes, omelette, OJ and coffee here. Everything is made fresh and their food is the best in the area. The inside space is very small, but they also have an outdoor patio where I have sat a few times. This place is very scenic with views of the mountains and if you're outside you can enjoy the sun too.

Kassandra H.

Yelp
Great food, personable service and they have a patio area so your pups can sit with you. The patio area was fully covered with shade but open at each end. This made the place well-ventilated and comfortable being out of the sun. Our food took a while but the waiter was so sweet about it and kept checking on us. That is great service. There is no way of getting a table other that standing at the front sidewalk in the sun. Since I can't stand for long periods, it was challenging. It would be nice to at least have a couple chairs out front for those waiting or some kind of text system to call you back. While we were waiting, a couple came back to check on their reservation and they had been passed-by. Seems like a better way is available than that.

Jenny C.

Yelp
Waited 30 minutes for a seat. Waited 45 minutes for food. No updates whatsoever on why the food was taking so long and we had to ask for water refills. This was the worst biscuits and gravy and country fried steak we have ever had. The gravy is flavorless and tasted like uncooked flour. The biscuits have a dinner roll texture. The breading was falling off the steak. The only thing properly done was the eggs and I could have done those myself. Go someone else. McDonald's would have been better.

Karla S.

Yelp
Service was great, super friendly employees. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was unique. I would def come back to visit

Mariah J.

Yelp
Well first, let's start off with the price... 5.00 FOR A HUGEEE PANCAKE! It was crispy on the sides and soft in the inside and very filling. The cinnamon roll French toast was AMAZINGGGGGG SOOOO SOFT SO GOOD. It wasn't extremely sweet it was perfect.

Maggie W.

Yelp
This is an absolute must if you are hungry and you're going through Joshua tree. This would be perfect for after a hike or perfect to start your day with. We wanted something hardy after taking a very long walk and the service was so fast I would've come back specifically just for the chili. You can sit inside or outside and there are plenty of kitchy things to look at around the restaurant. We had the grilled cheese, cups of chili, Biscuits and gravy. Absolutely recommend stopping at this place and having at least one meal here. Such an incredible staple and Joshua Tree and has been around for a very long time. Must try!

Yvette S.

Yelp
Yummy food stop! Stopped in during a JT visit, that's fellow Yelpers! Service was good, all the employees were sweet, and food was good. Patio area was cute, fanned. Inside had a cowboy feel with coordinating decor a really pleasant experience overall. Stop in & get a belly full! Ordered: Spinach Feta Omelet, The Big Biscuit Combo & Allie's Ride both with country potatoes (very flavorful)

Luke R.

Yelp
Good food. Service is pretty good. Food takes a while to come out but not a crazy wait.

Nate T.

Yelp
Not having been to Joshua Tree (Yucca Valley) in quite some time I definitely had to try a local spot. We were told it was about an hour wait and actually waited maybe 45 mins so that was a great start. Our group ordered a lot of the favorites on the menu to be able to try multiple items. Also got some mimosas to start. Everything was very good but the surprise dishes were the Asian (Cambodian) choices under Mama Uy recipes who was the previous owner. I unfortunately wasn't able to sit inside but the camp style bench was perfect for the occasion. There were other items ordered like the popular country fried steak, steak n eggs, and a biscuits n gravy but forgot to take pics lol.

Karine D.

Yelp
Oh my gosh... I can't tell you how many times I've been back to this wonderful place because their food is top-notch. Also, I felt immediately at home. Let's get started with their menu... Many options, all kinds of things, and breakfast all day. I can truthfully tell you everything is cooked to perfection. I loved their country potatoes, and I loved their hashbrowns. My favorite of all time is their tomato basil soup. I can't do dairy, and they make it very creamy with croutons and there's absolutely no dairy in it. The owner, Sara, is absolutely wonderful. The first time we went there, we got to talk to three of the waitresses, and they were kind, helpful, and full of great conversation. They even gave us tips about where to go and what to do. I'm building in Joshua Tree, so I'm down there often, and this is always my hangout spot. A big plus, they have three bathrooms that are very clean, and there are plenty of seats inside and outside. Will I be back? Basically every week.

Alejandra G.

Yelp
Really love JT country kitchen! I've been here twice during my visit to Joshua tree and I just love the food. I've had French toast with bananas, as well as the chicken club sandwich, and both have been so delicious. The wait was not too bad on a Sunday morning for a party of five. The servers were very attentive! The food took a while but no complaints since it was delicious.

John S.

Yelp
Traditional breakfast spot. Loved the decor. We ate outside in January. It had an old west kinda vibe with space heaters so we weren't cold in the shade. It was exactly what I expected. Place has a lot of history & a classic breakfast appeal. Our waitress was great. If you're ever in Joshua Tree I'd check this spot out.

Samantha C.

Yelp
The wait to get your food is quite long, and while portions were big, food itself was just okay. Eggs are fluffy and potatoes are flavorful. French toast was very bland, same for the biscuit and gravy. We asked for a side of blueberries to go with the french toast and it was unfrozen frozen berries, not fresh :( There's an additional $1 split fee if you share an entree, which I personally don't like since we included add ons. I gave a $100 bill plus 70 cents exact change, and I was given back my change as if I had only used the $100 bill. So overall, good portions and some food is good, others meh. I wouldn't come back.

Sara A.

Yelp
Overall great place and food. The eggs were cooked perfect and the country potatoes were full of flavor which I loved! Biscuit was flaky but soft also very good! The coffee was ok. They do have mimosas and other drinks to try. I am a big coffee drinker so that is a very important part of my breakfast. The service was good our waitress was friendly. It was a busy time when we went, we sat outside as it was a nice day. I did like that they sat us pretty quick which was nice and did not have to wait. If you have a big group they picnic style tables. It was only two of us and would have preferred to have our own table as the group next to us was bigger and bit louder. That is just our preference. We did see the pancakes and they looked great also will def go back to try other items.

Danny V.

Yelp
When in Joshua Tree, this place is a must. Great home style cooking, friendly service and a cool Knotts Berry Farm feeling with a band playing music. Plus they allow your four legged fur babies there too. I'm glad we stopped here. As for the food, their pancakes are about as big as the plates, roughly 10-11" big. The country fried steak is cooked to perfection, get it with home fries. Also try the chili omelette, the chili is made in-house and is nice and thick.

Thomas P.

Yelp
We stopped on our way home after camping in Joshua Tree because it had such great reviews on Yelp. The food was all delicious. The table shared the French Toast, a pancake, some biscuits and gravy, along with some eggs and sausage. It was a lot of food, and pretty close to be cost for value. The servers were all really friendly, but I had to take off a star because our server never checked in on us. We needed additional napkins and drink refills and received them only as we were waiting for the bill. They were busy, for sure, but that was pretty frustrating. All-in-all, it's still worth stopping in and having a bite.

Inna K.

Yelp
I'm so happy we discovered this place in desert where they have authentic American cowboy food with great decor inside of the restaurant that is followed by great service! If you ever in Joshua tree go eat your breakfast there!

Marques W.

Yelp
Best spot in the area for breakfast, indoor and outdoor covered dining areas. A very friendly staff with a large selection of entrees for everyone. Always enjoy their healthy sized mimosas and taking our dog to enjoy dining outside.

Adel W.

Yelp
Lovely servers and vibes, super cozy diner! Love that the menu has diverse options and lots of sides included, so our table could all share and try everything. We wanted to definitely try the pancake and biscuits/gravy, and they recommended the sausage/bacon as well. The food didn't blow me away, but pretty decent for the price. I liked the French toast and hashbrowns the most!

Katherine P.

Yelp
Took a long while for food to come in. Food was decent and overpriced though I figured that's the case for everything in JT

Noah B.

Yelp
Pretty basic food. Service was phenomenal. Waitresses immediately brought a dog dish for our pup.

Chrystie J.

Yelp
My husband and I had breakfast here and I can honestly say that a lot of restaurants now and days have lost their passion for cooking but this place had the flavor, customer service and awesome ambiance. We felt very warm and welcomed here and the food tasted very very good. We were very satisfied and will be returning soon.

Mayra M.

Yelp
Came here with my two kids and my husband , it's super tiny inside, mind you it was cold as heck! They told us to wait outside a couple of minutes, we waited and waited, saw a party of 2 come in and they were seated immediately at a table for 4?! When we went back to check on the wait and as to why we weren't seated at that table they simply told us it was going to be a long wait. I can't help but to think it was because we weren't Caucasian. Never coming back, our name was on the waiting list too, no apology whatsoever, just go wait some more basically, rude.

Caroline H.

Yelp
This place was great! The outdoor area had a good vibe, the server and male host were very friendly, and the food was excellent. I love that they allow dogs outside and that they have vegan options.

Regina L.

Yelp
With a busy Easter weekend, JT Kitchen really kept the line moving. We waited about 25 minutes and spent most of our time at JT Coffee across the way. Our servers was very nice and attentive. We ordered the biscuits and gravy and the country fried steak. My wife says the gravy was a little to thin for her liking, I thought the house potatoes were a little firm. The size of the plates were shareable for sure. Pricing was good too.

Mely N.

Yelp
Great view and service. The food is really good. Enjoy. Servers are friendly and waiting times is decent time.

Joe W.

Yelp
This is the go-to spot for breakfast when in Joshua tree. Friendly vibe and friendly vittles.

Chloe L.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast and lunch joint in Joshua tree! The wait was a little long but in my opinion, well worth it! It's a quaint restaurant that's full of friendly staff and great service. Their pancakes are huge and the food tastes fresh! I loved their hash browns and country fried steak. I plan to come back next time I'm in Joshua tree.

Kelly B.

Yelp
We came to Joshua Tree with a dog! And they (online people) warned there were limited restaurant opportunities that include pets but we tried this one and we were not disappointed! First, their customer service is outstanding. I was greeted with a smile, served with a smile and walked to my car and another person thanked me for my business with a smile. Second, the food selections our waitress suggested were tasty! Pancakes, omelets, and biscuits n gravy were all delicious! Lastly, cute outdoor patio with fans made it possible to enjoy with our dog! We stayed cool, the dog stayed cool. Portions were huge, we probably could have shared in hindsight but everything came out fast and was delicious! Would definitely return!

Aleen F.

Yelp
There was definitely a bit of a wait, but it was worth it! The service was great here. Our waitress was super sweet and she was always coming back to top off our drinks. I highly recommend the pancakes. They're delicious and fresh. Best pancakes I've ever had. Another waiter came to check in on us and asked us how everything was. They are very on top of their serving and the food is great. Stop by if you're in the area, just make sure you are prepared to wait a bit to be seated!
