Where to Find Jameson Black Barrel in Chicago | Eater

"Great food and cold drinks are what’s promised at Lombard’s JT’s Porch and Saloon and, to us, that sounds like the perfect pairing for the holiday season. Visit this friendly spot for comforting bites, like oversized wings, Italian beef egg rolls (a Midwest classic), char-grilled burgers, and other tavern favorites. Wash it all down with a Jameson Black Barrel Whiskey — this type of pub grub requires a simple, neat sip. A warming combination to give you comfort and joy in the depths of Chicago winter. They also have karaoke, so you can practice your caroling." - Ariel Kanter

Google
For a bar the food was 5 stars. The flaming honey garlic wings were SO good. I have the atmosphere a 3/5…the place is NOT dirty just feels like it idk maybe needs some updating. Bigger TV or outdoor TV would be a nice touch. Will definitely come back with friends.

Google
We were visiting this past weekend and in the mood for some boneless wings. Thankfully, I checked some online reviews before finding a place. Had it not been for the Internet, we would have never discovered JT's Porch. DO NOT SLEEP on this place. Go get some boneless wings immediately. I went for the full 1 pound Spicy Garlic and it did not disappoint. The homemade ranch was also really good. Food was amazing. We will be back the next time we're in town!

Google
Police mistook me for a car crash driver when I was enjoying food with a friend at a table here. I got rushed by 5 officers until they were forced to leave the vicinity. I then enjoyed a round from the bartender who witnessed it. 5/5 stars like my GTA rating.

On a rare trip to Chicago for a work trip, I asked my brother, who is a local, where he'd love to go to dinner together and he said that hands down JT's has the best wings. And I couldn't agree more! After our 45 minute commute from Oak park, we arrive in the parking lot to a very eclectic setting of The the restaurant building, and going inside definitely gave a Tavern and saloon feel. Our waitress Suzy M was fantastic: attentive, friendly, and super helpful will we needed to make any changes to our order, refills, etc. I started off with a beer and put in order of the 10 piece Buffalo wings, and we got a 20 piece boneless wings with a multitude of sauces: Teriyaki, spicy garlic, Bourbon chili, and Thai chili. Their wings were absolutely massive, and the buffalo sauce was the most unique that I'd ever tasted colon some combination of Buffalo and tomato base on top of a very crispy fried wing. Absolutely amazing! 🔥 For our meal, I got the Southern Burger with pepper jack cheese, French fries, and a side of hush puppies, and my brother got another order of the buffalo wings 😆 For the three orders of wings we're looking at about $55, the burger and beers Hush Puppies we're probably another $35. It was a little on the pricey side for the wings but for their size and the quality definitely would come back

Google
I hadn't been here in three years and thankfully little had changed. My wings were huge and perfect. I get the bourbon chili sauce with blue cheese and a side of the hot rub (cayenne pepper), some onion rings and the Italian beef egg rolls. So delicious. There's a pool table too.

Sarah Chacon

Google
Great food, easy going scene, very fair pricing. Excellent menu too! Definitely recommend the Italian beef egg rolls and they have a fish fry on Fridays with more options, but they also do a cod fish fry all week that's hand battered and realllly good! The wings are also fantastic 👌 😍

Google
Very shady they have an add inside the bar for pours of Old Forester $8 but they'll charge you $12 and not even acknowledge they have it there posted. Don't even advertise the price then.. don't bother with this place if you're looking for bourbon, rip off artists. Also, Blackhawks were playing and they don't have the channel. So don't expect to watch any Bulls, Sox, or Cubs here either.

Desiree Doubleyou

Google
Best wings I've ever had. My boyfriend agrees. We're both fully addicted!!! They're quite literally AMAZING and delicious. The drinks are awesome too. All around a top favorite!!

Yelp
First and foremost, the food was well done. Everything came out hot and cooked well and everything tasted great! Out favorite were the wings with the hot rub and ghost pepper sauce. We ordered just the flats and they were spectacular and yummy. The burger was huge! I wish it came with fries in stead of chips. You can get fries, but there's an up charge. The fish fry was okay, I probably wouldn't get it again. My daughter loved her chicken fingers. They seemed homemade and not from frozen. There seemed to be one waitress and she was working hard! She did a good job, not super friendly, but okay. This was our first time here and it looked like they only had bar height tables. I may be wrong, but that would keep me from going back. Overall, the food is well done, keep up the good work!

Heather was great. Good service great food. Love this place. Lots of TVs and cold drinks!

Yelp
Our first time visit to JT's Porch. We were very happy with our experience. There were a few surprises along the way but in the end the food was good, the serving sizes were big enough to have leftovers to bring home, the service was friendly and timely and the prices were reasonable. We planned to eat inside the restaurant but we were surprised to see that all of the indoor tables were high tops. High top tables don't work for me because I am 4ft. 9 inches tall on a good day and they are always difficult for me to get up and down on. It was a beautiful day and so we grabbed a table on the outdoor patio. It is actually just a tent covering on concrete with wrought iron tables and chairs. I ordered the Southwest burger which was cheddar cheese, bacon and a tablespoon or so of sweet BBQ sauce. It was cooked medium as I requested. I noticed that the bun was very fresh tasting. The other entre we ordered was the Cobb Salad, hold the blue cheese. Very good.

Kelli K.

Yelp
Do not- I repeat do not sit on the deck. If you accidentally drop your card, they say " most people just cancel and get a new one" so obviously people do this and instead doing something about it that's their response. Other than that it's good. But their responses are not.

D B.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar. Fun atmosphere. Outdoor seating area (some parts covered by tent) makes this an even better place. A variety of fresh daily hamburgers with a selection of sides (some with small up charge), sandwiches, daily specials and plenty of cold beer make this a must go to place. Staff is always upbeat and positive.

Yelp
We came in late on a Friday night. With not a lot of choices and having had them bookmarked for years, we decided to stop by finally. The place was packed! Only like 2 tables were available. There wasn't a hostess at the door to greet us or advise on seating, so we just sat at a table. After a few minutes, a young waitress approached us and stated that she would bring us menus. So we ordered wings and drinks. I asked for 5 spicy garlic all flats, and he got 10 carribbean jerk wings and fries. Our food came out fresh, I didn't receive all flats as requested and confirmed, *ROLLS EYES*... We didn't like our flavors. My chicken tasted like ketchup and no spice at all. I don't like ketchup AT ALL. His jerk was sweet, like a lot of cummin or brown sugar were added. So, I'm not sure if I'd go back, honestly. The service was ok, drinks ok, food ok. Solid 3 for sure. I just don't know if I'd swing back again.

Yelp
If u looking for a place to have some great time especially after a long day then I recommend this place for u. Tremendous food with great service...

Nicole K.

Yelp
Cute and cozy little tavern. Food had a unique spin on classic dishes. We grabbed a couple local brews, burgers, and Sunday specials. Our waitress was very happy and helpful when giving recommendations on dishes and drinks. Came to establishment with friends on a Sunday afternoon and was pretty busy. Definitely worth stop if traveling through.

Yelp
Friday night was date night and we decided to hit JT's. The place was pretty packed at 8pm, but we were still able to get a seat at the bar. The bartender was super nice and had suggestions on what we should try. We did two orders of the 10 piece wings and split it with various flavors. One of the best place for wings. The wings were big and not over fried. The sauces were so good too! My favorite was the spicy garlic. We also tried the Italian beef egg rolls which were also delicious and I love their fries. If you are looking for a bar food, this is the place to go!

Yelp
I haven't been there in 15 years. They have really cleaned the place up. Really good quality food and our server was terrific in spite of the March madness crowd. Clean dining room. Kudos!
google avatar

Shelli M.

Yelp
Best bar food around hands down! Always packed is a good sign! It's a dive bar so that's what you should expect however, the food is always on point. We come here to get the wings at least 3-4 times a month no joke! They no longer have karaoke sadly but that doesn't seem to have any affect on the crowd. It's pretty much crowded all the time. They have now added Lemon Pepper to the wing options so that's a bonus! Stop in for dinner, drinks or both.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
The best wings in Lombard area!!! Can do boneless or bone-in with either dry rub or plenty of sauces to choose from. I especially enjoy the Garlic Parmesan and Thai chili sauces. Also like the pretzel sticks and fried pickles. Serve us pretty great - they serve drinks fast. Nice outdoor area in summer too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
On a Friday evening, this place is POPPIN!! We walked in and snagged a table along the wall (it's a seat yourself kind of place). JT's is a small spot so if you want a seat on a Friday or Saturday be sure to get there early (we arrived around 5:45pm). The atmosphere is so very fun-it's your typical Midwest bar and food spot. They have the TV's above the bar with the game on, there's a jukebox in one corner and a slot machine in the other. They also have a pool table that was busy the whole time we were there. Talk about good vibes all around! Our waitress was very sweet. She was quick with our drinks even though she was very busy. I ordered chicken fajitas which were delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly. My mom ordered a burger with onion rings... their onion rings are good (definitely recommend). My mom, sisters and I all hung out for a few hours just enjoying ourselves. It was a low key evening but so fun! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Friendly staff but become absent when busy I've given them several chances Ok Friday fish fry is not Rocket science. The quality of the fish was excellent, extremely fresh. However... The fish batter was so overcooked it was the color of poop. That accompanied by Lilly white soggy fries. Its called golden brown folks. Hello? Then this 70 yo regular named Martin or something would not leave me alone or shut up. I had just worked an 11 hour day and wanted to unwind Not happening

Scott B.

Yelp
Went here and one of the managers was extremely rude. I was badgered management.by management the defended rude behavior for local patron who was gambling on their machines. Certainly not friendly. It's new customers unless you're a regular.

Yelp
The two times my husband and I went to JT's Porch Saloon we were surprised how excellent the food is The Whitefish on Friday/Saturday reminded me of the best dish I had living in Escanaba Mi Excellent! The cod fish fry is the best light breading with moist delicious cod My husband had what he called the best Buffalo chicken wings ever!! We will be going back! Great wait staff as well and fun environment Thanks

John K.

Yelp
Good food at reasonable prices highlight this tavern. Service is outstanding. Always a good time!

Yelp
Oh boy, we ordered $75 dollars worth of both traditional and boneless wings, almost all flavors. We made sure to ask for well done and the skin and meat was still somehow slimy and stringy. Had to fight to eat it lol. None of our "spicy" wings had any spice what so ever. Best thing from the meal was the ranch and celery sticks.
google avatar

Desiree K.

Yelp
Got there, it's seat yourself, server came over quickly. Service was great. Cheese curds excellent. The wings everyone raves about omg. No. They still had feathers on them. we are still sicked out.
google avatar

Yelp
Jumbo shrimp was delicious. They were butterflied and deep-fried. Oh my goodness.. My BLT is typical of any BLT but the egg rolls were phenomenal Italian beef. Nice!! Definitely want to come back again and check it out. The ambience was really nice neighborhood bar.

Ben H.

Yelp
I've been here three times now in the past few months and every time I've been completely satisfied by their fantastic staff and exceptionally delicious food. This time I had the skirt steak sandwich and it nearly brought a tear to my eye with how gorgeous and delectable it was.

John T.

Yelp
Food is always good. Staff is always friendly. Nice lunch spot. The fish and chips are my go to.

Yelp
RETURN OF THE QUESTIONMASTER Grab a few of your smartest friends for a trivia smackdown at this country bar & grill in Lombard! My first experience at JT's was as a host for Sporcle, but since I was workin', I didn't order food or even a beer on that trip. A follow-up visit last night on 12/12/18 saw me flip the script with buddy Jason K and girlfriend Nichole C, as we competed for $$ off our bill. Located on Roosevelt near I-355, this place really sells up the "saloon" ambiance with a pair of swinging wooden doors, similar to what you'd find in a Sergio Leone spaghetti western. There's a pool tables, darts, a jukebox LOADED with tones of twangy country songs and a centralized bar. JT's has live music some nights, but the real fun gets going on Wednesdays beginning at 7pm. The crowd for trivia can definitely pack the place, to the point where it gets tough to hear what's being said over the mic (drunk townies don't help much with the noise level). Over the course of 2+ hours, we pounded beer and ate various foodstuffs. Jason K's southwest burger ($11) came with bacon and BBQ sauce, opting for sides of coleslaw and tater tots (in lieu of chips, $3 extra). He gave it the thumbs-up. The fried pickles (6 for $6) came with ranch, and despite being sort of pricey, the half dozen breaded spears were very good. Later on, we got an order of chips & salsa ($5) which were fairly standard. Nichole C thoroughly enjoyed their buffalo wings (10 for $12) with a side of ranch. I hate messing around with chicken bones, so I chose a 1/2lb of their boneless wings ($10) in the tropical habanero variety. Even though the flavor was good, the heat was totally weaksauce. Blue cheese helped a little; some of the celery that accompanied it seemed well past its due date. Bread = 4 Circuses = 3.5 Apparently all it took was a few pints of beer to unlock our trivia team's full potential, since we began to dominate in Game 2. When it came down to the final question, I suggested a "smart wager" and wouldn't you know it, we finished in 2nd place, which nabbed us a $10 gift card! w00t! Service started off fine and got progressively spottier as the night went on. Amy took pretty decent care of us and was able to sort out a minor snafu with running the gift card. We did get overcharged for a couple beers, though. Ah well. * TL;DR * It was refreshing being on the other side of the trivia host table for a change, and aided by the minds of a couple friends, "KIRBY'S REVENGE" took home the silver with a whopping 101 points. It was an *especially* sweet victory, since we were the smallest team by far. The table next to us began to brag that "look around y'all, d'ya really think you can win with only 3 people?" To that overcocky losing team, I proudly say S-U-C-K I-T. They've got loads of daily features (1/2 price burgers on Tuesdays, 59¢ wings on Mondays, Fish Fry-Days, etc) in addition to a bunch of drink specials. The service might falter as the crowds get heavier, but the food is solid and the atmosphere is appropriately rowdy. I'd definitely recommend JT's Porch Saloon for trivia nights. Other nights can be just dandy too, so stop in and see what's up!

Yelp
Had a party here last night and the service was fantastic. Stephanie did a great job and made our day. The manager Fernando was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely recommend for your next get together.

Yelp
Best wings in town, hands-down. Their burgers have never disappointed and their black and blue salad is one of the best I've ever had. I've been going to the porch now since they changed over from the previous owners great place to see a ball game, great place to see live music, or just a great place to have lunch #JTPorchWillBeAroundALongTime

Jeanne M.

Yelp
Glenbard West Class of '83 held our our reunion here in 2023 and the venue was perfect! Space was great and service was accommodating and speedy. We had use of a large tent with an outside bar and plenty of tables and chairs. The food was plenty and served hot! We recommend this location for future parties and large gatherings. Thank you JT's Porch!!

Marylin K.

Yelp
If you want a good ole local bar (or as the Brits say "my local"), this is a good choice in Lombard. Nothing fancy, just good ole humanity at it's finest, great food, super staff and any drink you want at an exceptional price point!

Sue H.

Yelp
Good food and great service. We didn't have any expectations because we didn't know anyone who had eaten there before. They are local and we will be back

Sharon L.

Yelp
Your local fun Cheers bar of all ages where everyone does not know your name if you want that - but if you want to make friends you certainly - can as all are friendly. Cold beer. Great bar food. Lots TVs for sports and a pool table.
google avatar

Brad P.

Yelp
Another really good choice for great service, good food and a fun crowd in the area. The night was beautiful so I sat on the patio. Alagash White on tap and the chicken wings were ENORMOUS. The wings were also deep fried in a tasty batter. The tropical Habanero and the bourbon jalapeño sauces were very good too. I ordered the 10 piece wings and struggled to eat 7. 5 would have been perfect.
google avatar

Tim T.

Yelp
Decent food. Had the saloon burger with sweet potato fries. Excellent burger! Service was good . Prices are reasonable. My pal had the steak sandwich and reported the sandwich and fries were very tasty. Worth a stop. I see it actually has improved since I was last here .
google avatar

Kathleen N.

Yelp
Absolutely the best bar food in the Lombard area. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. My husband loves the huge salads and I really love the fish fry. Best I've found in Illinois outside of Wisconsin. We try to stop in at least once a week. Hands down the best place in town.
google avatar

Charles P.

Yelp
Over the last several years JT's has been a staple for my family. It's always been a great place to grab a quick bite and a drink with satisfaction everytime. With these crazy times it's great that we are still able to do that. My husband and I were in the mood and decided to drop by. I had the caesar salad and he had the steak quesadillas. Both were top notch. We will be coming back very soon!!!!
google avatar

Shika R.

Yelp
Went with friends after seeing high ratings. The live music was good. That's it. Did not like the ambience and food at all. Infact food was horrible. Ordered Nachos which was very dry because of less chilli . When asked for extra it was charged in the bill. Chicken wings with bourbon sauce we're the one of the worst we had. The sauce was recommended by the server saying it's spicy but it was sweet and spicy. It was just drizzled on the fried chicken. We left it after a bite. 3rd dish was fried cod with fries - fried were sad and not crispy at all. Fish was okay with the tarter sauce. Overall the experience was below average so won't be going here again!! Not recommended at all.
google avatar

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Second time we've eaten here....very disappointing- husband's fries were limp, he didn't like the chicken tenders because they weren't crispy either and service is unbelievably slow unless your ordering buckets of beer. Don't think we'll be back...

Matt C.

Yelp
I called, and they do NOT have live entertainment or karaoke, as their description states. WTF?
google avatar

Jay Ef Jai ..

Yelp
It amazes me how a restaurant can go from 5 stars to 1 or 2 stars! I went back here for a visit twice. The first time I ordered some of those wings I liked so much the first time. Well...this time they were not crispy. Kind of soft and slimy in texture. I went on and dealt with it and ate them as is, didn't enjoy it, but said next time I will put in a request for crispier wings. The second visit I asked for wings, but I asked for them to be fried extra crispy. I watched my two boxes of wings sit on the counter. For fifteen minutes. I, also, saw the manager tell a waitress "there is food up." Her response, "It is not my order." I am glad they practice teamwork at this establishment! Nonetheless, I received the same slime wings as before. Disappointing, to say the least. I asked for a return for my money. They didn't make an attempt to fix the issue either. Nice. Afterwards, I had to go down the street on Roosevelt going east, of course, to get crispy wings done right! One other thing. I accidentally spilled my beer on myself while I was there. Totally my fault. I get it. I had help from everyone there with cleaning it up. But you couldn't replace the beer??? Needless to say, I won't be back. "Farewell" (sung by Rihanna)

Mary M.

Yelp
the best location. kind servers, great food, cold beer. doesn't get much better than that. i've never had a bad experience here.

Joe V.

Yelp
I been coming here for over15 years, and these were worst chicken wings ever! I often order dry rub wings But these were pieces were totally unidentifiable! only one of the five were edible. The others were as dry as a rock! What a disappointment!

Harry E.

Yelp
It's always a great time at JTs. They have the best wings especially with the dry rub and not too hot.

Yelp
I stopped into JT's Porch Saloon & Eatery on a whim - I pass by it every morning and figured it was worth a shot - and had a decent meal. When we arrived, around 7:00p on a Thursday night, the place was pretty packed. In fact, we may have snagged the last high top table they had. Overall the mood of the place is pretty relaxed and borderline divey. The crowd seemed to be populated with a lot of regulars who were hanging out and drowning their sorrows. The coolest part of the décor is the high top tables themselves. Ours was set out to look like a poker game in progress (the actual money, real money, and cards were "sealed" into the table top) and was very well done; they even had 100's and 50's in there (all the old-style bills too - very cool!). Our waitress, however, was rather jovial and upbeat. She was friendly and meant well but lacked just a bit on the execution of drink orders (although, all fair, it certainly could have been the bartenders as well). We came for the wings and they have several options available. We tried the traditional and the boneless, preferring the boneless in the end. The traditional wings were very sizable but where we went wrong, I think, was getting them non-breaded (hoping that the skin would come out crispy, which is what we prefer). They came out and just had a strange look (they were completely white, like albino white...?) and just smelled different (I think, perhaps, it's from the certain kind of oil they use?). Anyway, not to our liking. But the boneless wings were very tasty and nearly made up the others. We tried a few different sauces and ultimately liked the dry rubs the best. Along with the wings we had beers and bourbon - their whiskey selection is rather underwhelming. As I said before, our experience was so-so... I'll be giving other spots a try prior to returning here again.
google avatar

Fred L.

Yelp
We go here once a week. Food and atmosphere is dynamite. I would say their highlight is their green pepper soup that is on special sometimes and their steak tacos are really really good. Their nacho platter is ferociously good and can feed an army. Kelly the waitress is a staple there and she provides amazing service. The owner is a super nice guy and wants everyone happy. Especially the regulars. Worth the visit that's for sure.
google avatar

Erica B.

Yelp
This was my second or third time here! Here again for the BlackHawks play off game. The place is packed. They have a very large parking lot so if the front is full, behind is also an option. The bar is more of a dive bar but still very nice. Not gross or cheap in any way. Lots of TVs around the bar. The bar is large. A full circle where people can sit on all sides. They also have 20-30 bar tables so you have that option as well. The service is good, our service Sarah was really friendly and helped me choose between 3 items on the menu I was stuck between. I highly recommend the taco salad, jalapeño poppers and the turkey panini!! My girlfriend also ordered cheese curds and they were Delish! The menu prices are not expensive and the drink specials are awesome.
google avatar

C H.

Yelp
Rachel always delivers excellent service! Great casual atmosphere, can't beat the prices, pool, darts and TouchTunes. Best bacon grilled cheese ever.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
When my moving truck broke down the staff came out and helped us push it into their parking lot. They didn't have to do this at all. This led us to give the place a try and 7 years later I am still coming back. The spicy chicken sandwich is a staple of any healthy diet and thank God they have tots now. The fries of the past were underwhelming, but they have improved. Only thing I would warn people of is one time when I was there and used the bathroom it was very bad. When I flushed the urinal toilet water was coming up out of the floor drain. Just don't use the bathroom and you'll be fine.
google avatar

Timberly B.

Yelp
If you know, you know ‍ wings are the bomb and drinks are good. If I'm in Chicago on a Monday night, then I'm at JT's.
google avatar

Mike O.

Yelp
I had a bad experience there with someone that claimed to be the owner and I left a review describing the situation. Since that time many of friends have informed me that the man I spoke with actually had nothing to do with this establishment. I actually forgot about leaving this review, until I logged into Yelp for the first time in a while. The owner of the establishment sent me a very nice message and it clear that it is not the person that I had the conflict with. I humbly apologize for leaving a negative review for this family owned business. They have good food and I've been back many times since.

Christine D.

Yelp
This place absolutely is doing it right. With all the chaos 2020 has brought, JTs has figured out a way to make you feel like everything is safe and back to normal. The staff is amazing, everyone is always wearing a mask. Surfaces are clean, there are Lexi glass windows between patrons. Last night it was super busy, we never waited for a drink. The manager Was so helpful, if our was busy- he would make sure we didn't have to wait. We moved to the surrounding area in March and we have truly come to love this place. All of the staff is great. They remember our drink, know our name and the conversation is always enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable, clean and friendly hang out. Only thing I would like to see, is no plant based options on their menu.

Robert C.

Yelp
First and last time I'll patronize this place. Server was nice, burger was just okay (wilted lettuce and tomato) but it's clearly a RWNJ hangout, 12 TV's all tuned to The media arm of the GOP (Faux news) SMH.......
