12 Must-Try Restaurants in the Burgeoning Santa Clarita Valley - Eater LA

"Any new restaurant that dares open in Santa Clarita’s Canyon Center faces a challenge: how does one compete with Tiny’s, the iconic sub shop on the strip mall’s corner? Only Melvin Blanco, the owner of Juan & Nita’s Bagnet-Silog (named for Blanco’s parents), has devised a solution: offer remarkable food at no price. Law enforcement, clergy, and first responders eat free (by day, Blanco is an oncology nurse), but it’s well worth joining the growing stable of regulars willing to pay menu price for executive chef Jake de Guzman’s inventive takes on traditional Filipino classics, like candied pork belly bagnet candies doused with sesame." - Sean L. Had a really enjoyable meal at Juan & Nita’s. As the name of the restaurant suggests, their silog is the thing to get. We got the steak silog and tacilog (marinated pork). The rice was very tasty, and the meat very flavorful and cooked well. The owner, Melvin, was incredibly attentive, helpful, and kind. He does a really good job making sure everyone has an enjoyable and positive experience. We will definitely be back!

Food is amazing; super friendly and warm service from Mel (owner)! It was my in-laws, wife and kiddo and we ordered way more than we should have but everything was really tasty. Started off with the lumpia shanghai very thin wrapper lightly fried with a lot of meaty filling goodness and great sweet dipping sauce and the fried squid which unfortunately came out at the end instead of at the beginning but I will forgive because it was cooked perfectly (no rubbery texture here folks!) with a light, crispy and tasty batter with the most amazing tamarind dipping sauce which was very bright and a touch of heat from the jalapenos. *Chef's kiss - mwah!* Along with those two appetizers, also ordered the balulo (beef shank soup - light and amazing broth with a ton of beef), bagnet adobo w/mushrooms (this is pure genius with the portobello mushrooms soaking up the best adobo I've ever had -- not too vinegary and not thin/watery like a lot of adobo), cajun spicy shrimp (good flavor but wish it was spicier), pancit (kinda suprised that they only had the 1 noodle dish -- doesn't specify but I think it's pancit bihon since it's clear noodles). I usually don't care for pancit since it never has a lot of flavor...except this place -- again, in comparison to other noodles pancit is always lighter but this pancit was the best version that I've ever had! MIL ordered the flat iron steak meal for herself (she doesn't partake in family style and always has to have her own meal); but she did share a bit of her flat iron steak and the meat was very tender and the sauce was outstanding. Fantastic food and Mel was super friendly and we will definitely be making this a regular spot in our rotation. Looking forward to bringing friends here too. Be warned, that there isn't that much space for in-room dining but it wasn't busy when we got there so it worked out for us. Fortunately or unfortunately, we over ordered and the food was all excellent but we didn't have any room for dessert. FIL lamented this fact because he found out that they serve flan which he adores; they ran out of ube ice cream so it was kind of a blessing since that's what my kiddo would've wanted but she was also stuffed. Again, we'll be back, Mel! Looking forward to dessert and trying some of the other menu items. :) Wife wants adobo with just ALL mushrooms next time - LOL. For everyone else that's looking for another good Filipino place in town to try, stop by and let Mel know that I sent ya!

Google
It's a nice, little filipino restaurant with friendly people and good food! We had the pancit, which was enormous, had some pieces of bagnet in it! The bagnet had a very crispy skin but the meat was very tender. This is the best bagnet I've ever had in the US. I'm glad I live so close because this is my favorite filipino restaurant in Santa Clarita.

Google
Right Across the street from Island Pacific Supermarket, surrounded by other food establishment. Affordable, delicious, and exquisite Menu options for those who crave authentic filipino recipes. We celebrated our daughter's birthday here and the current option is to Dine-out. Tables are set to accommodate only 4 people to comply with the current regulation. Server was very polite, helpful, and informative. Excellent Customer Service. Most of their food are created using their own proprietary style and ingredient. They have appetizers, main dish, and desserts! In my humble opinion, our overall experience is nothing short of OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back to try the other food on the Menu.

Google
Where do I start? Super cute family owned authentic Philipino restaurant. I'm just gonna post pics of my food and say EVERYTHING was delicious. The service was great, and I can't wait to go back to try more. Just go check them out!

Google
Wow! This place is amazing! The food, the atmosphere, the service! I had longganisa silong and a pistachio Boba drink, both were super delicious. I highly recommend Juan & Nita's if you're in the mood for fresh, authentic Filipino food. I will definitely be back!

Google
Good Filipino food. Their dish called Pancit was delicious. If you guys are ever in Santa Clarita. You guys should check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Great comfort food... Cute interiors... Friendly and sweet woman who took my order The portions are extremely generous. Lot of pork belly in the serving. And can't forget the halo halo...

Yelp
Ate there with family of 3 adults and a child for the first time , The menu looks great, lots of choices. It was a total disappointment! Bagnet should not be on the restaurant's name if they can't make it right. My air-fried pork belly is a lot better. The skin was chewy on my order while my daughter's was a bit crunchy. The rice on my plate was dry and looked old. The rice on the other orders looked fine. The shrimp silog was not good at all. Mentioned to the lady server about the rice and immediately said " iisa lang po ang pinaglutuan". When the issue of the bagnet was addressed, the reply was "Pareho lang pong batch ang pinagkuhanan" I suggest, when a customer has a complaint, call the cook and let him see what was served. That kind of response would make you not to come back and we are not coming back. Good customer service is very important, offer to make it right.

Yelp
Clean. Fast service. Friendly staff. The fish was crispy in can even eat the head. I love it. But oily food. Will come back soon.

Yelp
BEST FILIPINO COMFORT FOOD IN SCV!!! Everything cooked meticulously to perfection and very scrumptious! Priced just right and ambience is everything My go to place for Filipino food!

Yelp
The food was amazing!! Great service and environment. Feels like you are at Tita's and is very homey. They do everything to make you comfortable and the food is great, I would definitely recommend it! I will be coming back for more. Check it out!!!

Yelp
I wanted to like this place, but it is not happening. First time trying it and definitely the last time. I got the goto and it was "ok" at best. Definitely better places for it. But the worst was the Bulalo. Talk about a rip off lol. All they included in our Togo order was freakin the soup and cabbage. You expect at least corn and a piece of meat like the picture. But seriously, just soup and cabbage. What a total let down.
google avatar

Han W.

Yelp
Food was authentic and service was good, but the pricing is a little high especially for the neighborhood the restaurant is in. It seems they rely heavily on their faithful crowd where they are competing directly with Filipino food at the food court inside the Filipino grocery store just down the street where their food is much cheaper. Overall it's an alternative choice for the crowd who grew tired of alternating Mexican, Thai and Vietnamese food.

Maylien B.

Yelp
The food tastes really good ( ordered bagnetsilog, goto, and tokwa bagnet), the staff is very friendly and accommodating, has a surprising ambiance ( from the outside ); if you wanna try fine Filipino dishes in SCV, this is the place. I heard you can even use the place for private parties for about 30 people.

Yelp
Food was perfect, 2nd time ordering this time for pickup everything was hot fresh and ready to go! Must try!

Samantha B.

Yelp
Going into the restaurant, the ambiance of the restaurant felt really homey and cozy, pretty paintings on the wall. It felt like walking into one of your Tita's houses knowing you were going to eat some homemade, nostalgic food. That for me is my leading point as to why I'd at the very least give the rating a star. The idea of grilling your own skewers was actually a fun addition to the experience. Though where my rating falls is the fact that the seasoning for every dish that we ordered was very salty. My mom looked forward to having the Super Fried Squid, but it was heavily salted and overcooked. The ampalaya with shrimp was also very salty, but the bitter melon itself was cooked well. The shrimp, undercooked. In juxtaposition to that though, the service was actually quite good! Very friendly and welcoming, showing us with a smile on her face that we had to grill our own skewers which was mostly the highlight of my family's experience. Maybe on a differed day, it would have been better but this initial taste of it left me wondering how it could have been on a different day.

Yelp
Came here because we were in search of a new/closer Filipino restaurant! We love Silog so we knew we had to try it! We ordered bangus (milk fish) silog, tocino-silog and salmon sinigang! All were very tasty and delicious!!!! We were so happy with the food! The portion sizes were perfect and left us feeling full with a few leftovers. It feels very homey inside and reminds us of being in the Philippines. Service was also excellent! The owner Melvin was very attentive to our needs and gave us recommendations as to which to try! We loved everything about it and we know we'll be back again soon!! Yummy!!
google avatar

Genalyn R.

Yelp
Came here right before they were closing and they still welcomed us with great customer service. The owner even came to our table to greet us and to make sure we were well taken care of. She offered us to try their pistachio milk tea and it didn't disappoint. It was delicious There were little bits of pieces of real pistachios in there. It was heavenly. Most definitely will come back.
google avatar

Sheryl D.

Yelp
Second time here and again, it did not disappoint. Cornsilog was delicious! We also got the crispy squid and that is definitely a must try. They were short staffed but still very nice and did their best to accommodate their customers. The place is homey and comfortable. We will be back again.

Lyda B.

Yelp
I often order from here, and the food is always good. But I am very disappointed with my Thanksgiving order. It didn't taste the same, and it felt as if they rushed to cook my order. I posted a picture of the lumpia because it was burnt and soggy.

Yelp
We came here last Saturday. I ordered tapsilog which is one their best sellers. I dont like tapa before I ate this one. Its very soft. We also got tapsilog, buko pandan with icecream, and adobong bagnet. We love all of it. They even gave us a free ice cream for my baby. Service is excellent. The place is very clean, decor is the best.

Mary T.

Yelp
Nice place and good food. Highly recommended. Will go back for sure!! Try it and won't regret it. Happy Friday!
google avatar

Justin Eric L.

Yelp
Yung inorder po namin crispy pata, hindi po pata. Sobrang kunat ng balat at pati ng litid. Walang lutong ang balat. Ginawa na lang namin sahog sa pakbet. Not worth the $29

Yelp
Calling all food enthusiasts! I just had the most delightful experience at Juan and Nita's Bagnet, and I couldn't wait to share it with all of you! Let's talk about their heavenly Halo-Halo! If you're looking for the perfect dessert to beat the summer heat, look no further. Juan and Nita's Bagnet has truly mastered the art of creating a mouthwatering and refreshing Halo-Halo. From the moment it arrived at my table, I was captivated by the colorful layers of ingredients meticulously arranged in a tall glass. The combination of sweetened bananas, chewy nata de coco, creamy leche flan, and vibrant red beans created a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds. But wait, it gets better! The real star of the show was the generous portion of finely crushed ice, drizzled with a variety of sweet syrups and topped with a mountain of creamy milk. Each spoonful was a delightful mix of crunchy, sweet, and refreshing goodness. It truly felt like a taste of paradise in every bite! Moreover, what makes the Halo-Halo at Juan and Nita's Bagnet exceptional is their attention to detail. They don't just throw in random ingredients; they take the time to create a harmonious blend that keeps you coming back for more. The balance of flavors and textures is simply remarkable. So, if you're on the hunt for the ultimate Halo-Halo experience, head over to Juan and Nita's Bagnet. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Don't forget to tag your friends who would love to join you on this delightful culinary adventure. Let's spread the word about this hidden gem! #JuanAndNitasBagnet #HaloHaloHeaven #FoodieParadise #RefreshingTreats

Yelp
The people that own this place and work here are very nice and welcoming. It felt like family :) The food was really good! We LOVED the salmon belly sinigang. I think their food is Batangas style. It tasted amazing. Bangsilog was perfectly cooked - the fish was crispy and well seasoned and the garlic rice was not dry at all. Nothing was overly salty or greasy as some filipino food often is, and we were really impressed. I would definitely come back. :) Take out would be good too. Check them out!

Yelp
still 5 stars! i i have definitely became a regular since my first review, the awesomeness of the foods is pretty much consistent. as a matter of fact, i will be dining there today and get the pinakbet and crispy pata! ended up getting the bagnet sisig, jumbo squid and pinakbet! and leche flan! we inhaled the flan before we can take a photo..

P D.

Yelp
This was a nope for me, sat outside and just the appearance from the outside did not draw me in. I sat there for a while as I was craving Philippine food. The ambiance just didn't do it for me. I wasn't going to write a review I came here and didn't do it but Yelp has that funny way of reminding you. So here is my impression of this restaurant. Sorry I don't have better to say.

Yelp
The LA Eater review of best restaurants in Valencia that it's part of is so compelling and decided to try it out with friends. But actual experience does not match up to the written page. The lack of pride to the food they serve and attentiveness to the dining experience, maybe are just novice flaws . I am not really sure how this restaurant has the audacity to charge a steep price for low quality food . We were a group of 3 looking forward to order the beef soup, nilagang bulalo, but we were told they were out early in the day. So we ordered the sinigang shrimp soup , bagnet pinakbet and the pork sisig. The redeeming value out of the 3 was the bagnet pinakbet. The vegetables were crisp to the taste for added texture and brightly colored. The over spicy shredded pork sisig looks like the left over bagnet mixed with sisig ingredients . It was so spicy that it burns your tongue and the next bite surely was another burned in your the mouth again . This was as if its trying to hide something in it. The soup sinigang was ridiculously price. I don't know how they arrived at the price point of $27 and think they could get away with it . The quality and taste barely equate to the price they ask. To the point, it's so disrespectful. Here's the no, no. The whole time we were dining inside , the staff never even bothered to clean the table right next to us after the customer left. No one bothered to bus the dirty plates, glasses, and other food utensils. Our group looked at each other and wondered when will they start bussing the table . No one cared ,and it didn't happen . Outright its not a good sign and portrays a negative impression. If they don"t bother to clean what can be seen in the dining room, it makes me wonder what kind of kitchen condition they have inside that's hidden from the public. I am not sure if they are aware of it , but right there it leaves a bad taste of inattentiveness and lack of interest to having return customers.

Yelp
It was our first time to eat at this Filipino restaurant last weekend and we will be back for sure. The service here was awesome, such welcoming and friendly staff. The food was great, everything we ordered was delicious. We had the bulalo, pork belly, adobo, and bangus. For dessert, we had buko pandan and halo halo. Their servings and quality of the food were pretty good. Can't wait to go back to try the other food on their menu and the fried jumbo squid. I highly reommend this place! You guys should check it out.

Yelp
Called in a to go order for a later time pick up. When we got there, the crispy pata and Bagnet just came out of the fryer. Piping hot, super crispy and very flavorful! I've recommended this place to some of my coworkers and they liked it as well! Will be coming back for more of the crispy pata and other dishes as well! Looking forward to tasting the pinakbet (my favorite dish) and sweet n sour fish! Plenty of parking and is adjacent to Island Pacific.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I found this gem on our way back home from Sequioa and omg its one of the best ever! The bagnet sisig and the fried jumbo squid is a MUST!!! Pair it with garlic rice and you're good to go! The owner, Kuya Melvin is super nice and accommodating along with the other kuyas! They were all attentive and had good recommendations. Place is clean and still had Christmas decorations. Will come back soon when we head out to the Sequioas again. Thanks!

Yelp
This review is long overdue. Let me start off by saying this place is amazing. First time we visited we were warmly welcomed by the nicest people. They all were super friendly and attentive, we didn't know what to order from the menu because everything looked so delicious and they suggested the most famous dishes on the menu. We loved it and I was craving it all week long so we went back the following weekend lol I give this restaurant a well deserved 5 star and can't wait to go back there soon!

Nick J.

Yelp
Absolutely BOMB dishes. We tried the Bagnet Sisig & pansit, plus a halo-halo dessert to top it off. So so good. And they are the nicest people!! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Thor ta silog is so good, roasted eggplant omelet it's one of the best breakfast dishes.

Yelp
This place is a must, comfort food they serve are great, tasteful and hits the spot. A definite must go, warm reception from great people as well.

Yelp
Great food and Service and reasonable price!!! Highly recommended. My favorite is Bagnetsilog!!!

Hannah Dyza D.

Yelp
Hands down the best pancit bihon in LA! We always order their pancit and it never disappoints. We take it to parties with us and it always gets good feedback from people. We like the service in their restaurant. Kuya Melvin (owner) is always so kind and serves his customers from the heart. The restaurant feels so homey. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Yelp
My mom ordered their Boodle Feast for my dad's birthday and I loved it so much I just had to order it for my son's graduation too & I can say that the Boodle Feast was consistently delicious and did not disappoint! The presentation, the taste and the different dishes they put together on the Boodle was delicious & special. Perfect balance of healthy and naughty! Counting down to our next occasion so that I can order the Boodle Feast again! **Thank you to the staff for always being so helpful and friendly. Melvin and his wife Madelaine give back to the community often as they always offer free meals, donuts, etc.

Yelp
My out of town sister and I decided to dine in and try some filipino food. So i was referred to this place by local news segment. Food was delish and staff was super welcoming! Recommended filipino place in SCV!

Yelp
This place has has really good Filipino food. It was our first time trying this delicious food. I was completely pleased with the service, cleanliness, and the very friendly way they treat customers. I recommend this place 100%.

Yelp
Filipino food can be hit or miss. My issue with much of the Filipino food that is available is that it is not freshly cooked as it is generally served from heating tables. This place is not one of those places. Everything is cooked fresh to order and served with pride. You can tell that they are proud of their food because they come and check on you often and the smiles on their faces grow while they watch you eat. That moment of pride tells me they know what they are serving!! We ordered lots of yummy things!! -Bagnet-Silog with add on soup -Adobe Bagnet with black mushrooms -Spicy Cajun Shrimp (no shells) -Garlic Rice -Green beans and tofu -Special Fried Squid Everything was excellent! The add-on soup wasn't anything special...so my recommendation is to pass! It was flavorful but simply broth and green onions. Unless, you are craving broth, spend your money on something else! The special fried squid was presented extra nice! On a skewer, staked in a wood block...gorgeous! It was fried perfectly. It was tender. Very lightly breaded. Could have used a smidge of salt. Served with a rice vinegar shallot dipping sauce! Bagnet was absolute perfection!! Very Crispy and yet super tender. Nice portion size! Most perfect egg on top of the best garlic fried rice ever!! Adobo Bagnet with black mushrooms was super well developed. My husband gulped it all down. Huge portion. Could have served two people. My son ordered the Spicy Cajun Shrimp was absolutely delectable. Buttery and garlicky but not spicy enough. He ate it so fast, I didn't even get a taste. Both this dish and the Adobo Bagnet do not include rice so make sure you order some! Oooh, don't let me forget to tell you how amazing the green beans and tofu was. Tofu was cut in chunks and fried...added to green beans, sliced red bell pepper, eggplant, onions and smothered in a slightly sweet savory sauce! So yummy! My best recommendation is bring friends...lots of them and order everything! I promise you are in for a flavor adventure!!

Yelp
We've gone to this restaurant a few times and the food is good. But take out is different and they use a combo container when you order an ala cart item. The food isn't filled properly. Portion size on take out orders is way less than orders dine in. So you spend $17 bucks on this much food? Definitely think twice before you order take out.
google avatar

Raven S.

Yelp
My wife and I have been here a few times and she is Filipina. She is very picky especially with her Filipino food. So am I. (No Filipino) Since I am picky I have a request for no onions. I know it's unusual but I just hate onions. Rarely ever restaurants handle this especially Filipino. No sweat for Bagnet I got Si Sig which I love without onions !!! LOL. Also had Tapcilog which is my favorite Filipino food. My wife got Pancit which she loves. I have gotten it take out a handful of times for her. The restaurant is perfect. Has a real home appeal to it. I like the decor with the TV'a playing classic sings covered by Filipino's. One suggestion is to make the menu bigger! You have some great food ! Let us see it ! So much potential there.

Kelley G.

Yelp
The service was great in the sense that everyone who helped us was very kind and friendly. The food wasn't very good though. The rice was very dry and hard and the crispy pata was a little over done. The lumpia wasn't the small traditional rolls, but the flavor was good.
google avatar

Kristine J.

Yelp
Sarap talaga! Food's really good. I ordered the hipsilog, which is the shrimp. I just didn't like that I had to de-shell the shrimp. It was pretty difficult. I'm not used to eating shrimp with the shell. And there was the vein still left, but I didn't mind it that much. Also, the restaurant wasn't air conditioned either. Those were the only issues. But I could look pass those, because I tried their bagnet silog. Wow, the crunchy skin, pork belly was not salty at all. It was perfect and tasted fresh! I hope they maintain that quailty! I'll be back to try other dishes!! One day, the boodle fight/kamayan!

Yelp
If you want the best Filipino food, try Juan &Nita's Bagnet-Silog! Everything we ordered is delicious! My favorite is the Tokwa and Bagnet!

Yelp
Thank you Juan and Nita's for always knowing how to make every meal a celebration! Whether we order to go or dine in, Melvin and his crew never fails go give A1 service and provide A1 food with A1 presentation! God is good, indeed! And this restaurant and it's employees will remind you of that! Ps. The boodle fight is a must!

Yelp
I went here with my family for dinner and we loved it! There's not a lot of Filipino places in Santa Clarita so it was nice to have this nearby. We had the milkfish, Cajun shrimp, pinakbet, tapsilog, pancit, and lumpia. Everything was so delicious. The chef came out and talked to us. He was so friendly and said he makes the food fresh to order. You can tell they put a lot of love and hard work into this restaurant. He named it after his mom and dad. Would highly recommend if you're nearby. Definitely want to try their boodle fight next time!

Yelp
If you're craving Filipino food, definitely check this place out! They are right by Island Pacific in Santa Clarita. They have awesome food, awesome service and clean facilities! One of the best Filipino foods I've tried in a while.

Yelp
My family had a very pleasant experience dining here. The staff were very pleasant, warm and very attentive. The food was by far perfect taste and arroz caldo hot temperature was perfect. I don't mind the drive coming here. The music selection was also perfect. We love the bagnet dish. It's something to seek for in here. We appreciate the hospitality and good job!

Yelp
Everything was so good esp the sisig & bagnet & its dipping sauce. Their "kapeng barako" (coffee) has that bold flavor imported from the Philippines. Ambience is perfect to hang out with family & friends, large comfy seats, nice clean restroom, relaxing sound/music & sparkling table utensils to name a few. Customer service is exceptional. The couple owners Melvin & Maddie (who are nurses themselves) really paid attention to every detail inside the resto. Chef Jake is awesome as well as our server Eva. Lots of parking spaces in the plaza, too. They have free lunch/dinner that day in appreciation to the frontliners. We will definitely come back & highly recommended! PS. They host the place for events & also cater larger tray orders. I suggest to call them in advance for details.
