The 12 Best Tapas Spots In Madrid

"Juana La Loca checks all the boxes of a perfect tortilla de patata—it's loaded with caramelized onions, and the egg is never overcooked, but not so drippy it feels raw. This tortilla is why everyone flocks to this trendy, always-packed neighborhood joint, especially on Sundays when friends meet up with friends for a ceremonial La Latina beer and tapas bar crawl. Definitely make a reservation for both the roomier seated section or try your luck walking into the standing area in the bar (just expect to go shoulder-to-shoulder with other diners)." - lori zaino

The 25 Best Restaurants & Bars In Madrid 2024 - Madrid - The Infatuation

"Juana La Loca is a stylish, popular restaurant with glass cases sitting on the bar filled with tapas and pintxos. Deciding on what to order feels like the tapas version of Tinder, only unlike Tinder, every single option at Juana is actually appealing—especially their famous tortilla de patata, a dripping egg and potato dish loaded with caramelized onions. It’s always packed, so definitely make a reservation, especially if you want to eat here on Sundays. That’s when locals head to the La Latina neighborhood to roam around, drink beers with friends, and tapas bar hop. " - Lori Zaino

Juana La Loca - Review - Barrio de La Latina - Madrid - The Infatuation

"Juana’s drippy tortilla de patata, loaded with caramelized onions, is locally famous for its perfect consistency—the egg is never overcooked, but not so moist it feels raw, which is the key to perfecting the dish. It gets packed in here, especially on Sundays, when locals head to the La Latina neighborhood to roam around, drink beers with friends, and tapas bar hop. Definitely make a reservation for both the comfy seated section or the standing area in the bar (where you’ll probably still be shoulder-to-shoulder with folks)." - Team Infatuation

Had their 2 specialties. Tortilla and spicy tuna sandwich. Will definitely be coming back. The tortilla was packed with flavour. The tuna sandwich was on another level of sandwiches. One minor criticism. No English menu. Either come prepared with a translator app, Spanish reader or be happy to ask for recommendations from the lovely staff.

Google
Thank you, Ángel, for taking such great care of us—impeccable service and a truly kind person! We were looking for some more refined tapas beyond the usual croquetas and jamón (which are great, but Spanish cuisine has so much more to offer). We tried the roast beef, foie gras, and the one with anchovies—all beautifully prepared, delicate, and full of flavor. We definitely need to come back to try their popular tortilla. The waiting time was very reasonable, and the playlist and overall vibe were fantastic.

Google
New location, same best tortilla in town!! 🤩Menu has been updated, but we went for the classics from their original spot in La Latina: Tortilla de Patata And Buñuelitos de Espinaca & Cheddar, that didn’t disappoint!! - Service is still on a learning curve with new staff, but I’m sure they’ll be up to par in a few months!!

Fantastic pintxos. Angel was behind the bar tonight and did a nice job keeping our drinks topped off and the food coming at a good pace. We will definitely return. The tortilla is phenomenal as is the volcano de dulce de leche. Honestly, everything was tasty!

Google
Amazing experience at Juana La Loca! Our server Angel was fantastic, super friendly and attentive. The owner even came by to greet us and gave great meal suggestions. We loved the tuna hatzu and the chivito burger was insanely good, messy but worth it! Don’t leave without trying the dulce de leche dessert, chef’s kiss. Highly recommend!

Juana la Loca is an absolute must-visit in Madrid, offering an exceptional dining experience that combines creative tapas with high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, making it a perfect spot for a night out with friends or a romantic date. The menu is a fusion of Spanish tradition with international influences, and every dish is crafted with attention to detail. Some standout choices include the Sardina Ahumada, a beautifully balanced dish, the burrata with tomato and cardamom chutney, and the Buñuelos de Espinaca y Queso Cheddar, which are crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. However, the absolute highlight is the Hatzu Tuna Sandwich—a red tuna fillet breaded in panko, served with kimchi mayo and trout caviar. The combination of textures and umami flavors makes it an unforgettable bite. The service is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall great experience. With its excellent location and well-curated menu, Juana la Loca is undoubtedly one of the top places to enjoy modern tapas in Madrid. Highly recommended!

Incredible restaurant to have a modern but traditional meal in Madrid. The new place is very nice. Keeping the essence and identity of the restaurant. Everything is a must!
