Judith's Kitchen

I have been ordering Thanksgiving dinner for the past 5-6 years at Judith's Kitchen. It is absolutely outstanding! The turkey is very tender and juicy so that even the leftover meat after Thanksgiving, was delicious. Their entire side dishes are fantastic. ( Yes, I have tried all of them. ) From their famous kale salad, to incredible wild rice and to flavorful cranberry sauce.. Btw, my favorite is the traditional mushroom bread stuffing which is surreal.. Everything is just perfectly balanced and beautifully cooked. I am very excited and looking forward to this year's Thanksgiving dinner at Judith's Kitchen!

They have Harney and sons Tea, really delicious sandwiches, vegan, and normal cookies and treats, and lots of items in their deli case. My sandwich was absolutely delicious with a generous amount of tuna. The tea was tasty. The cookie was great The only thing I did not like and ended up throwing out was the cucumber salad. It tasted rotten. There is handicap parking directly out front, and everyone was super friendly.

Love Judith’s Kitchen. Very friendly folks. Delicious coffee and pastries. I often go there for coffee to meet friends. And the nice thing is that I can then pick up some of their great take out for dinner. They have a great variety of take outs salads, chicken curry, sllmon. Love having them in West Newton.

Judith's is so much more than a sandwich shop! Although the sandwiches are generous and delicious. There's cold steak, salmon and chicken and a myriad of truly delicious salads. We've gone to Judith twice recently to put a cold dinner together when entertaining guests on days it was too hot to cook or barbecue. Everyone has really enjoyed the food. Beautifully seasoned and cooked just right. Love the flank steak, potato salad, green bean/tomato/onion salad, grilled vegetables and the kale salad. They also have fresh bread and a nice wine selection. Check it out. You won't find a better value anywhere.

My work company ordered one of their boxed lunches, and I chose the Caprese sandwich and potato salad. +Potato salad was tasty, was cold and refreshing with what I assume was sourcream -However did not love the Caprese. While I know it might've not been the freshest (since it was boxed) I felt that the ingredients themselves weren't the highest of quality. To also consider the actual price was $12, that felt mildly overpriced for the lacking quality of ingredients. The baguette bread was solid, and I don't have much to say for the vegetables (tomato/lettuce) since I know they may not be in season so I can't have too high of expectations (to also say they were a little flavorless.) But here are a few gripes I have with the sandwich: Firstly, the mozzarella wasn't the ideal high-quality (hydrated type) mozzarella, it was rather dry and almost a little crumbly. Secondly, using pesto instead of fresh basil just felt a little cheap . Thirdly, a class caprese has vinaigrette and this sandwich for sure did not have it, which really was a bummer! I do understand that that's what it says on the menu so I'm not accusing the place to lie, it just wasn't $12 delicious. I wish they had more veg options which was why I chose their caprese (almost all their other sandwhiches have meat), so it was a little disappointing nonetheless. But to close it off positive again, they're bakery sweets are solid and are very big and generous. But all I'll say, if you want a Caprese Sweet Tomatoes across the block knows where it's at...

Definitely a deli worth your time. Good sandwich menu items with a whole section dedicated to veggie options. The veggie Reuben was delicious. Heavy on the coleslaw yet not on Mayo, they do a thinner sauce approach (preferred to me). Rye toast by panini press was crispy yet still retains the rye flavors and complexities you want. Build your own sandwich options with almost anything you could want. A surprisingly expansive wine selection is also on hand. A nice touch are the local treats like cookies, breads, and muffins are also available. The biggest standout is the friendly service.

Today I stoped at my favorite "Thanksgiving" and previous Jewish Holiday specialities. While placing my order with Judith spending a few moments talking about her college son and my college granddaughter. I saw one of my favorite dishes, roasted eggplant and Mediterranean chicken and olives were delicious to and enjoy.

i came here seeing that they had gluten free options; i was NOT disappointed!!! I got an italian and my boyfriend got a chicken blt. thick sandwiches with good portions. having worked at a deli i felt right at home with the food options and needless to say i will be back

Lovely food: beautifully presented and delicious. Wide variety of foods and generous portions. Highly recommend for eat in, take out and catering.

Unfortunately, I have to say that the reviews are very misleading. Not only was the man wearing reading glasses who served me cold and unfriendly, but he also handed me my to-go sandwich without a bag or even napkins. Very unprofessional and disappointing. As a food critic, I must also note that the chicken salad sandwich was made with hard, chunky chicken and lacked any real flavor profile. I visited this restaurant with the intention of possibly doing a write-up on the quality of the food, ambiance, and overall value. Sadly, this place is among the worst I've tried this year. Please try Sandwich Works instead--they have the best sandwiches in Newton, and their staff is warm and incredibly friendly. Spend your money elsewhere.

Grilled Flank with Arugula sandwich was so goddamn good. The flank steak is such a thick cut, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Everything else paired so perfectly with it. There was a good variety in the othe toppings as well which was super nice. Pickes, tomato, onion and arugula. My only wish was that it was a toasted bun. The baguette is too chewy to be eaten untoasted imo. Roast beef sandwich was alright. Again would have benefited from being toasted. It was also a bit strong on the mustard. I just wasn't as big a fan on this one

Lovely little sandwich and more shop. Lots of sandwich and panini options. Salad options galore. Neighborhood cafe with lovely service - kind and accommodating is hard to beat.

Honestly, I've only been here to grab sandwiches (even though I'm aware there's other things on the menu). However, the sandwiches have a pretty solid selection of fillings to choose from! So even though it's a small and cozy shop, there always seems to be plenty to choose from. Plus, service is quick and friendly, especially during some of the slower times of the weekday. Definitely coming back for more (and to try some of their non-sandwich items... someday)!

I ordered a sandwich online (roast beef, provolone and mayo on a bulkie roll). I noted the 30 minute estimated timeframe and arrived just a minute or two before it was ready. It was delicious - fresh bread, generous amounts of tasty roast beef and cheese and just the right amount of mayo. I'd been planning to take it back to my office to eat, but I couldn't resist sitting in the sunny spot in their front window instead. Such a treat! I'll be back.

Really cute place for sandwiches, side dishes, and wine! I've had Judith's on my list for a long time to try because I'm a sucker for fresh sandwiches (recognizing that I could maybe just make them on my own for cheaper). Plus the prices here aren't bad at all for the portion and the quality. The options on their sandwich menu all sounded delicious, but I really liked my husband's flank steak sandwich - the meat was super tender. Also really enjoyed the turkey sandwich I ordered that came on very good cranberry wheat bread and the turkey, though cut in a thick slab, wasn't dry at all. My cousin's black bean burger was nicely spiced but I much preferred the sandwiches. Sides were excellent too; we tried the pasta salad and the kale/blue cheese/butternut squash. Definitely recommend if you're in the Newton area and looking to grab a quick, tasty, not-too-expensive meal.

Great sandwich shop with a large variety of fresh ingredients to throw in your sandwich. My first time here was today and I decided on a Curried chicken salad sandwich on focaccia with spinach and tomatoes. It was rather large/messy due to so, but it was so good. Will be back forsure.

I don't typically get excited by sandwiches but this one was so simple but so good! I had the roasted turkey breast sandwich boxed lunch. The bread was soft and spongy. The turkey breast wasn't ask dry as I expected (which is usually the reason I try to stay away) and there was a good amount of it. I didn't realize provolone was such a good cheese until this day, I always thought it was tasteless but this one resembled mozzarella a bit. I'm glad they added cucumbers. I've been adding cucumbers to my sandwiches for some time now and I don't know why more places don't integrate it. The tomatoes were fresh and perfectly ripe. I think my favorite thing was the mayo and honey mustard mixture--creamy and sweet. The sweet onion Maui chips are so good! The cookie was also good. I'm not a huge fan of cookies unless they're freshly baked and out the oven but I was content with this one. It had a good amount of nuts, coconut shavings, and a chocolatey flavor.

Fabulous sandwiches and prepared food. I loved the vegetarian sandwich and iced tea. So fresh, healthy and delicious. Please clone this place in Syosset, NY.

The food was amazing and delicious. The staff was so friendly. I will definetly return to have breakfast here.

Had the flank steak sandwich from here for lunch and was very pleased. I wish there was a little more flank steak because it was so tasty. The baguette it was on held up well to the sauce and steak juices. It was on the chewier end of baguettes not a crisp, crusty one but still tasted good. Would definitely get a sandwich here again. Solid, tasty, and quick spot for lunch.

Delicious food! Love their salmon!. Roasted veggies are great, egg salad, chicken salad - all so good. Also love their sandwiches.

We were in the neighborhood and decided to pop in for a light snack. Our light snack consisted of buying a bag of 4 Cranberry Orange Irish Scones made by Montgomery Irish Scones ($4.99), 1 medium cold brew ($4) and a Cortado with Oat Milk (which wasn't on the menu but I described it to them and they said they could make it which is great service in my book). Note that there's a $10 minimum if you use a credit card. We were clearly using a credit card but it worked in our favor. The bakery/cafe is styled as if it were located in San Francisco. It is diner style in the way that the entire counter top is covered with baked goods made up of an assortment of homemade treats and outsourced packaged goodies. There is a sandwich making station as well as a sides and soup available. There is plenty of space to dine in. We chose to sit at the high top bar window seating surrounded by beautiful scenery paintings for sale as well as flowered vases. We had a quaint experience here. It wasn't a trendy bakery. It was a nice quaint bakery that has good treats and comfort food should you need a quick bite to go or extra time to eat in.

I like Judith's kitchen. Kind of a cross between a Vermont general store, wine shop, and deli. I come for the sandwiches. They have cool (but expensive) international snacks. Nice staff. Happy to support a business like this.

My family and I stopped in last night for a sandwich just as they were closing. They made our sandwiches with care and let us sit to eat while they cleaned up. The sandwiches were all good. And we appreciated their kindness. Then tonight, I'm at a catered party. They had salmon, beef , roasted Brussel sprouts, roasted potatoes and many salads. Everything was excellent. When I asked where they got the food from, they said it was from Judith's kitchen! 2 great meals in 2 days !

Nice place to get some groceries, some pastries, and some pre-made goods, mostly Italian. The chocolate chip muffin was sweet, a bit on the ordinary side. But the frozen eggplant parm was amazing - various types of cheese, nicely breaded eggplant, and nice sauce! Looking forward to trying more things here.

Last year at this time I hosted a party for a family member. 90% of the menu was vegan. ( all the guests had no idea and compliments on everything) one of the compliment and a grab before they left was this bakery's was the cranberry bread. A special treat for sandwiches. My preorder was needed, staff super helpful!

Food was great . Very friendly nice atmosphere. Make sure you pay the meter even just for 20 mins township is very hungry for money!!

The food and service here is top notch. Everything is so fresh and made to order. The menu is extensive and I have tried several different sandwhiches. I highly recommend the chicken with avocado sandwhich, the caprese, and the veggie with hummus. The owners of this shop are so welcoming and friendly. This is our go-to place for sandwiches and dinner entrees!

I'm a very picky customer and I walked into Judith's kitchen to pick up muffins for a party. The absolutely lovely and extremely helpful Natalie from Columbia took the time to explain all the different options and things I could order. Dear Judith good job hiring this angel. The prepared items from Judith's Kitchen are some of the healthiest and most delicious foods you will find anywhere and at such reasonable prices!! We are from out of state, but will return each time we are back to see my surgeon. The salmon burger, the black bean burger, the coleslaw, the potato salad, the lentil soup, the roasted vegetables, and literally everything else are just fabulous!!! The owners are precious people and treat us with such warmth. I can't recommend this restaurant more highly. I just wish they would relocate to upstate New York!

Bring your appetite, not just for their flavor but this place is a must stop. Super friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere without 25 TV screens to enjoy your company, I had the Curried chicken and it was all that!

What a sweet place. We walked over today and bought about $25 worth of stuff for our lunch for three -Chicken salad with grapes, mozzarella and tomato salad, kale salad, mushroom salad, roasted root vegetables, and a huge salmon cake that was as big as a catcher's mitt. The food was fantastic! I tried all of it and was so impressed by the quality. The mushroom salad, roasted root vegetables, and chicken salad were great, but the Gold Medal went to the Salmon Cake. It ran about $7 but it was gigantic and absolutely loaded with flaky salmon and some potato cubes. The folks behind the counter were sweet as can be, and service was fast. Judith's also offers dozens of sandwiches, baked goods, coffees, teas, wine and beer. Their deli case holds an embarrassment of riches! They have every day choices like Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad, Kale Salad, Grilled Flank Steak, Roasted Turkey Breast, Grilled Salmon plus a ton of specialty items offered on a rotational basis, like Meatballs, Pasta Salad, Lasagna, Swordfish, Steak Tips, Corn Salad, and Roasted Eggplant Salad, just to name a few. Plus breakfast stuff plus catering. Their philosophy, as stated on the menu, is "At Judith's Kitchen we cook with love, integrity, and simplicity with the goal to bring out the most honest flavor from each ingredient". I'd say their food is quite faithful to their philosophy!

The atmosphere at Judith's Kitchen is so welcoming and warm! I had the opportunity to try a few different sandwiches recently and they were all delicious! The service was quick and my food was always delivered with a smile no matter how busy they were! Such an amazing place in West Newton Square!

Ordered 4 sandwiches - 2 steak panini's , one grilled chicken and one chicken salad wrap 2 juice bottles ($52.00) Cold paninis, warm & extremely hard bread, uncooked (rare w/blood cold steak in a sandwich= I am not sure how long it was kept outside and if that's safe to eat) two pieces that looked better were so chewy so chewy so chewy ( I could go on and on and then it all went to trash) And the chicken was over cooked and chewy.....(read same sentence above) Bottled juice was the best so I guess we could have gone to Panera bread for a better experience at least we could have got some lunch!

We absolutely love this place. They catered a recent party for us: amazingly delicious shrimp, flank steak, wild rice, vegetables...Judith is cool, too. Three thumbs up!

I usually give a place a couple tries before making my review. This place i have given chance after chance and it never seems to get better-today was my last straw. I left work and decided to walk over to judiths because i wanted some "real food" i ordered a small container of corn salad and mediteranian chicken salad and a chocolate chip scone on the side. I got back to my office and started eating the chicken salad. One bite the chicken was so hard i couldnt cut through it so i tried another piece and it was the same thing. This was either the toughest chicken i have ever had or it was frozen and not fully set yet. I had to throw my entire container of food away because it was so horrible. The scone was edible but it should not be called a scone. It was soft and dense not dry and crunchy how scones should be. I have been plenty of other times and have bad experiences then as well-my chicken salad had been frozen, wrong cheese put on sandwiches, bad chicken salad other times. Also had the worse smoothie of my life there-room temp and premade. The girls behind the counter are typically nice but they really need to get their food in order. Frozen food served more then a handful of times is not acceptable. Unfortunately i will not be back.

Ordered large bowls of various salads -- spicy tofu, kale and black bean with mango -- for a party. When we arrived to pick them up, it was clear that they had been freshly made. Everyone raved about the food and has continued to comment on it ever since. Very pleased!

Absolutely love this place! Their sandwiches are so much better than your average sandwich place. They always have super fresh healthy foods. Yesterday I tried to kale salad and OMG. I am actually craving it now, it was phenomenal.

My two teenage kids went to Judith's to each get a large iced coffee. They came home and said, "that is the most I ever spent for a coffee, $14 for two." Then I find out every time my daughter goes to Judith's the price of the coffee changes and there is no price list displayed. I phoned and was told by the guy who answered the phone that they asked for less ice and he charges more for the coffee, but doesn't inform them that it costs more. In fact he said he would spend all day telling people that he charges more for "less ice," so doesn't inform anyone. The coffees they came home with had plenty of ice. I don't pay for my kid's iced coffees, they work, they pay for them. The establishment was totally taking advantage of the teenaged kids. No matter how good the coffee is the price gauging and taking advantage of teenagers isn't worth it.

Hubby doesn't usually order steak subs out of fear of poor quality meat. But when I brought home a Judith's grilled flank steak with arugula sandwich, he raved about it! Delicious and fresh ingredients all around. Great spot for takeout or counter eats in West Newton Square. Walkable to West Newton Cinema but check hours, closes at 6.

Awesome food and service! Breakfast is first rate and so is the kale salad and salmon. Make your own sandwich and if you don't see what you want, just ask. Highly recommend for their red wine selection:)

Friendly staff and service. Great for a quick lunch. Kale salad is one of the best. Fresh ingredients. Food can be purchased by the pound or plate and they make made to order sandwiches.

I have been relying on Judith for catering food at my house parties, typically feeding 30-40 guests. The guests have always been very happy. The salmon is deliciously seasoned and the kale salad has been gone on a heart beat and all my guests were raving about the food. My next party will be with food from Judith's, too, for sure. I also enjoy John's wine selection and his advise on what to pick for which type of occasion. Also, my partner and I love the sandwiches and frequently come for lunch. A highly recommended place in West Newton Village!!!

Our family loves Judith's! Judith and John (owners) are so friendly and are a local family. Judith is such a great cook. The counter of prepared foods are all so delicious and made with love. Great for when you're feeling lazy but want something homemade and delicious. The kale salad is my favorite.

A pandemic oasis-still open! Awesome comfort food, bread, wine, beer and toilet tissue! What more do you need? She even makes kale salad taste good. Take out only of course but all done safe, quick and with a smile. Try the flank steak panini sandwich. We need places like this to keep afloat. Worth the trip and parking for once is easy.

Updating my review to add that it's super vegetarian friendly! Hard to get a good vegetarian sandwich around here, bye Subway!!

Judiths salmon and kale salad is simply the best I have ever had. I don't know how she does it but it's magical. Super fresh grilled salmon and tender seasoned kale. Amazing! All I need now is a unicorn to fly away on. Thank you Judith.

I love coming here for lunch . Their sandwiches are so fresh and tasty. And lately I have been coming in the morning for their oatmeal which is cheap and tasty . Don't get the oatmeal and dunkins . Come here ! They have raisins , nuts , and brown sugar for toppings .

Outstanding prepared food. I have tried the kale salad, the fiesta pasta salad, the sesame noodle salad. I have also tried the salmon cakes, veggie burgers and cauliflower fritters. I could eat her food everyday. Also, very pretty decor!

You cannot go wrong with this small restaurant. Food is literally "homemade", environment and staff make you feel like you are at home. Kudos!

Most delicious sandwiches! There are so many sandwich options - from artisan breads to meats to cheeses and various yummy toppings - I don't think I'll ever run out of options. I also love their breakfast burritos. Lots of egg, so I'm getting my fill of protein! Everyone is always very friendly, too! It's one of my new favorite restaurants since I started working in West Newton a few months ago.

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. They have a small breakfast menu that included eggs, omelette and French toast. Unfortunately, they literally did not have the ingredients for practically anything! No french toast, no sausage, no lox, no bagels.... We left with no breakfast. How do you stay open??

As I sit here writing this review, I'm eating a delicious custom turkey wrap. I love walking into Judith's Kitchen because everyone there is so friendly. In addition to the customizable sandwich offerings, they also offer a large array of prepared foods such as brussels sprouts, salads, poultry and fish. There is a selection of wines and beers to take home as well. All in all, the perfect takeout place for lunch or dinner.

Do you have peanut butter cookies? No. What are these, I asked while holding up a plastic container of peanut butter cookies. Girl behind counter shrugs. Can I get extra bacon on my BLT? No answer, just a sleepy stare. Note to self: make your own sandwich. Bought a packaged "Judith's Kitchen" decadent sugar cookie (cloyingly, inedibly sweet) and a chocolate chunk cookie (worst cookie ever--you would have to work to make a cookie that was this dry and bad tasting). I asked for a little bag, three times, and another employee distractedly distractedly reaches for a bag with grease stains on it and misses the opening twice when she attempts to put my cookies in it. The cookies and these two young women are not going to be setting the world on fire, any time soon. And I'm out almost $5 for cookies that are now sitting in the trash.
