"Stalks of bamboo dangle from the ceiling like hundreds of wind-chimes at this Saint-Germain-des-Prés spot, which is the first outpost outside of Japan for the historic, 19th-century teahouse, Jugetsedo. Upstairs, you can sample any number of green tees, from earthy Sencha, to nutty Genmaicha, to creamy Macha. In the cellar-like basement, you can participate in a full, uber-traditional tea service."

Jugetsudo is an exquisite Japanese tea brand created by Maruyama Nori, a company that has been renowned for producing high-quality nori and tea since 1854. The name Jugetsudo means "a place to watch the moon," reflecting the company's philosophy of appreciating nature and enjoying the changing seasons. The brand was founded in 1980 by Maruyama Nori, a company that has been in operation since 1854 and initially specialized in the wholesale of nori in Tokyo's Nihonbashi district. Jugetsudo stores are located in Tokyo (in Ginza and Tsukiji) and Paris. The Tokyo store in Ginza is designed by architect Kengo Kuma in the style of a bamboo forest, while the design in Tsukiji is inspired by traditional umbrellas for tea ceremonies. The Paris branch on rue de Seine was also designed by Kuma, and it hosts tea ceremonies and exhibitions. The product range includes premium teas such as organic sencha, matcha, genmaicha, which use 100% Japanese ingredients, as well as matcha sweets, desserts, nori-based snacks, and elegant gift sets. The brand hosts cultural events, including "Cha-Zen" tea ceremonies with demonstrations and workshops, particularly at its Parisian branch. The key features of Jugetsudo are quality, authenticity, careful selection of products, a combination of centuries-old traditions with modern approaches, and the role of a cultural bridge that conveys the depth of Japanese tea culture through a unique experience.

A beautiful place where a beautiful cultural experience 'Made in Japan' can be celebrated. You have a great choice of green tea variations and a competent and passionate service. It is a smaller shop but perfectly utilized and designed. I recommend to visit the Jugetsudo in Paris for all tea and Japan lovers. Arigato!

Beautiful boutique. I was disappointed by the matcha I bought but he did tell me it was more for baking. It’s just the price was very high so the quality was not in rapport with the price.

Went today for a match Latte. Quality was decent but not great, especially for a nice spot. Additionally, I was asked to leave after staying at the seats for about 5 minutes because our order was “to go”. I normally wouldn’t mind if there’s others waiting but this was early afternoon so no one else was in the shop. For a nicer place, the customer service felt strange. I was planning on buying some matcha from them because I’ll be traveling to countries that don’t typically have even decent quality matcha but them kicking us out because technically our order was to go felt a bit weird.

Beautiful tea shop, quiet and authentic! The tea menu is not cheap (menu options starting at 16€, 5€ less if you skip the pâtisseries), but the experience is lovely, and you can refill. The pairing of tea and small pâtisseries is perfection 👌 If you make a purchase, they will offer you a cup of tea 😊 Definitely recommended!

Jugetsudo is my favorite spot for tea in Paris. They offer an exceptional tea experience with a curated selection of high-quality Japanese teas. The Gyokuro, in particular, was delicious—rich, smooth, and full of umami. The entire staff is incredibly kind and helpful, and their meticulous attention to detail is truly impressive. I highly recommend Jugetsudo to anyone looking to savor authentic Japanese tea!

An amazing experience! This is the place to be for Japanese tea, matcha and all essentials to craft the perfect brew. Despite the high prices, the items sold here are nothing short of art. A perfect retreat from the bustling Paris heat, offering iced Japanese tea and a variety of snacks. If you’re a tea lover, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Tea the next level. Served and prepared in a perfect manner. A small ritual. Take your time order your tea and relax and enjoy. The cookies to go with the tea I found very special. Flavours are a good match.
