"The tonkatsu is fried in a mix of canola oil and lard. Diners can choose from a number of brands of aged pork, which has been left to sit to enhance the umami. The meat is wrapped in low-carb breadcrumbs and fried slowly at low heat for a nicely browned, fluffy batter. The chef’s pride comes out in how the fried cutlets are served with the cut side up, showing the pink flesh. The pork boiled down in soy and served with rice can be considered a Japanese-equivalent of pork rillettes." - Michelin Inspector

The tonkatsu was huge, tender and tasty! The miso soup was packed with ingredients. If you order a set, you get refills of rice, shredded cabbage, and soup. The crab croquette is really good! The menu is only in Japanese, so using a translation app helps. The staff were super sweet and did their best to explain things. The place can get quite busy, so you might have to wait a bit.

Great Tonkatsu. Cooked perfectly so the meat was tender and moist. The soup was really good with lots of veggies and pork meat. Nice service. Need reservations otherwise had to wait a long time

Omg this is the best pork Katsu I’ve ever had. Easily the best. They were sold out of their extra-premium but I had their premium and it was bloody good. Even their regular is super duper good. Eat here. Also, it’s kind of away from the city center so the queues aren’t very long. No need to reserve. Just show up and wait. I started waiting at 4:40pm and I was first in. Croquettes are alright - good texture but not really comparable to the cutlets.

The tonkatsu was outstanding. There were different grades of pork from which to choose, I selected the highest most marbled grade. The tenderness of the meat was akin to filet. The marbling added depth and melted each bite, and the texture contrasted perfectly with the crisp of the fried light flakiness of the breading. It was served with a spicy mustard, a special soy sauce, large crystal salt flakes, a sweet sauce and a spicy sauce, and all were delicious. Worth the hour wait. We were the only non Japanese people in the restaurant, and they were patient and welcoming - no English menu, used the phone to translate.

Cozy little place feels real mom & pop. I had the tonkatsu with the curry. It was incredible. So crispy.

Excellent katsu. Chose max grade pork, and the price is a bit higher side but worth! max grade katsu gives you real masterd, which makes the plate extraordinal.

Surprisingly good tonkatsu place tucked in this area. Perfect during sakura season when you visit the daigoji and nearby canals with excellent sakura. Staff are friendly and quite used to tourists. They do a while to deliver the food as it is made to order so do be patient while you wait.

This place is the only one that I can wait for one and half hours with my 3years son It's because the waitress service was so good! She was fully care about customer! Thankfully the kitchen cut the food perfect size for little kids and extra rice for little kids without asking.
