6 Orchards Near LA That Are Great For Apple Picking

"Located just outside Julian in the tiny town of Santa Ysabel, Julian Farm and Orchard is the kind of place that has something for everybody. Pumpkin picking, going on hayrides, axe throwing, farm animals, cider pressing, or shopping for goat’s milk soap at their seasonal store, “The Farmer’s Wife.” If you’re bored at Julian Farm And Orchard, it’s your own fault. Current operating hours are 10am-4pm Friday through Sunday." - brant cox

We came to visit Julian on memorial Monday and luckily this farm is still open. We did two boxes of strawberries picking. The farm is not small with a lot of fun activities including animal petting zoo for kids, maze, rock climbing and axe throwing… Unfortunately the strawberries weren’t great today, they were small and not that harvested. They were also not that sweet. But the experience was nice. They also had raspberry and blackberry picking from the end of June. It’s nice to spend time and have a good weekend here.

I stopped by to check out the food truck at the Julian Farm and Orchard entrance and it is a total gem. The first thing that struck me was that happy people work there and that was for sure an added bonus. But the main benefit is food. I ordered fish tacos, which were just $6 a piece. They were substantial in size and the fish was delicious - lightly battered, flaky and crisp on the outside with really nice flavor. I am guessing it was alaskan cod. Green and red salsas were amazing too. For the quick and delicious meal at affordable price stop by at the Julian Farm and Orchard Food Truck.

I have been here a few times, each during different seasons. Pumpkin picking is a really good time with drinks and games. Strawberry picking in June was delightful and I got some of the best strawberries I’ve ever tasted. Most recently, I attended an apple picking tour. Despite the recent storm I was able to find a decent amount of apples with help from the farm hands guiding the tour. Grabbing a drink to wrap things up after was the cherry on top of an excellent experience. It was clear how dedicated and passionate the staff are. I will be supporting this farm for years to come. Thank you for the awesome experience!

First time here and we will definitely be back. We came with a group when the farm opened and stayed till closing! The kids loved the apple picking, the rock wall, and especially the petting zoo. Michele at the animal sanctuary was amazing and so nice to the guests, my kids didn’t want to leave! Can’t say enough good things about the staff and property , looking forward to our next visit! Thank you Julian Farm!

Came with my family and the daffodils were beautiful. We didn’t pay a lot for them either. The petting zoo was fun and looking at the bunnies and sheep was really fun. They offer food to feed the animals with that you can purchase. We didn’t buy any but a kind family shared some with us so we got to enjoy the animals begging for food. After we went daffodil picking, we enjoyed the tractor ride around the farm. It was a great time.

Had the most amazing time here! Lots to do! Cider was nice and refreshing. The owner Jim and Mark were super friendly and accommodating. They even chopped up some pumpkin for us to feed Percy the cow!

Google
They advertised "Glice skating" and its literally just plastic sheets that the kids trip over basically, it was really small too and for 20+ dollars, it's a bit much. There really wasn't much to do at all there. My family and I were there maybe 20 minutes walking around trying to see what there was to do. There were some "activities" such as corn hole and "ax throwing" but it was plastic kid toy axes and the corn hole is just left out in the weather and the bean bags were gross and the boards were falling apart. There was a little petting zoo with chickens, goats, and pigs, but of course that was extra money to get in there. There were some cute photo op spots but over all not worth the trip.

Google
Beautiful little farm. Absolutely friendly and loved the U Pick Wildflowers and petting zoo. They offer U Pick for berries and usually apple picking but check with them on the season. They offer food and drinks and many activities for Littles and more. It's a great little stop especially if you're headed into town. We had 2 wonderful workers who taught my little about pumpkins and then let us take the tiniest pumpkin my little found home.

Yelp
So worth the drive and money! There's so much to do at Julian Farm and Orchard, especially during fall season, but I believe they are open year round. There's something to do for everyone including flower picking, petting farm animals or just walking around and enjoying the farm life. It is extremely spacious, dog and family friendly. There are strollers and wagons available for rent, but a bit pricey imo. You're also welcome to bring your own, but because it's on farm land, it's pretty bumpy! We bought the "farm life" option which included the petting zoo/animal sanctuary, tractor pulled hayride. 10 out of 10 recommend the tractor ride as it shows you the entire farm. It was nice to know where everything is. There's also so many play structures, slides and swings for little ones. Our toddler had a blast. I'd definitely come back and try flower picking next time. All the employees were very welcoming and friendly.

Yelp
Cute farm and animals! No apple picking when we were there but they did have flowers you could pick. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. Feeding the goats was wild but so much fun!!! It's a trip worth it to make. We are definitely going back.

Yelp
Amazing fish tacos! Also ordered the chili fries and pastor tacos! Everything was so tasty and fresh Very friendly staff as well quick service

Yelp
This would be an amazing place to go at the beginning of the season (berries in June and apples in September). With so much traffic, apples were gone in a week, and with everything already picked, there isn't much left to do except hang out with the animals, which are super cute. You can pay $2 to feed them. The ice skating rink we saw in November is tiny. There is still a lot of flowers and photo ops, so if you made the drive, Julian Farm is still worth it to check out. There's a little food truck that sells yummy local apple cider. Kind service. Yucky port-a-potties.

Yelp
Very pricy to visit. $15 per person over 2 just to go see the farm. We expected pumpkins to cost less as well, average size $20. Though staff very friendly and amazing gourds!! Have you ever seen an Octopus Gourd? Gotta go get one before they are sold out. Kudos to the staff for setting up all the wonderful photo opps throughout the gourd displays, literally gourdous!!!! And have Apple Cider slushie.

Yelp
It's is the perfect spot for kids, we were amazed with the variety of activities offered, from pumpkin patch, hayride, apple cannon, maze, petting zoo, etc, plus there was a scarecrows contest going on so added to the overall Fall/Halloween experience. It was crowded but the farm is extensive and didn't feel tight. The price is fair, I'd say a bit pricey for the add-on experiences but overall worth it. It's a one stop kind of place if you want to avoid jumping on and off to different farms. Julian is a lovely cozy mine town.

Yelp
I recently came here over the past weekend on a Saturday with my friend and my dog. It was a far and windy drive from Oceanside but we made it! We had to park in the back area for overflow parking by the time we got there right before noon. I was underwhelmed by the gift shop. Not much to really look at or that I would buy. I was hoping there may be some pie for sale but to no avail (I am aware the pie shop is on the way to the farm). Loved the area they had for the pumpkins that were arranged nicely and by color and size. The tractor trailer was fun and cute. There weren't many options for food so I had the chili cheese fries from the 1 food truck. I also tried some hard cider and lemonade which were both alright in taste. I enjoyed going in the petting zoo and feeding the goats although some did get somewhat in my face for treats. I paid $20 for the farm life experience and thought it was worth the price. I also purchased 1 small black pumpkin and 1 gourd which I believe were $8 total but no bags to help carry them out to my car (which wouldn't be an issue if I didn't have my dog). Overall it was cute but far for what you get to experience.

Yelp
This was my first time going to Julian and the first time going berry picking since I was a kid. I was able to make a reservation online before heading to the farm. Admission was $5 and $7 to pick the berries. They only had strawberries available to pick, which was great since that's what we came here to do anyways. Staff was very friendly and it was really easy to identify the fields to pick the berries in. Even at around noon, we still had a lot of berries we were able to pick I really like how they have seasonal fruit picking and activities throughout the year, I am planning to return next year to do strawberry picking again and perhaps in the fall to visit the pumpkin patch.

Yelp
I visited a few days ago with my family and was a little disappointed. First, we expected to see many more pumpkins and have more buying options, however there were almost none on the vines. In addition, the flowers were almost completely picked and there were no sunflowers to speak of. They do have activities for kids and families, but coming here as young adult (without kids) there aren't many things to do. Apple picking season was over at this point, but we knew that before. Staying for about an hour was our max. We got some nice photos with the barn and tractors and then headed out. Costs: $5 entry per person and additional price for activities

Yelp
My friend and I went on a road trip to see the superbloom of wildflowers at Anzo Borrego. I wanted to see if there was anything else to do around, and I saw that this farm grew daffodils! It was along the way so definitely had to make the trip there. It's located across the Apple Tree Inn on Julian Hwy in Santa Ysabel. There's a dirt parking lot with ample parking. My friend and I paid at the entrance and there were workers around to help us take pictures or answer any questions. They were also very courteous of our privacy too. The regular admission fee is $5 per person or $25 for the all-inclusive wristband either paid in-person or online. My friend and I were the first ones to arrive at the farm, so we had all the time with the daffodils! Super excited to take pictures. The flower field was located on the back right of the farm and there were lines of yellow daffodils of different types/species! The field wasn't full when we went so we were only able to see two types. Nevertheless, still beautiful! It was raining heavily days before and was cloudy the day before, so the flowers were facing downwards (peep at video). We were also allowed to pick daffodils but because they were facing downwards, we didn't know if they were going to raise upwards if they were already facing down. A worker reassured us that they would but still didn't want to risk disturbing them. My friend and I were mainly there for the flower field but there was also a petting zoo, picnic tables to hang out at, tractor rides, and I believe a rock climbing activity? We walked around the entire farm including the petting farm to say hi to the three baby goats. What a fun place to be with families and friends! My friend and I both had a fun time at the farm! They have a lot of activities offered year round including Easter, apple picking, and pumpkin patch. If I'm ever heading east again, definitely will be back!

Yelp
Mainly the woman who "greeted" us at the gate was the most unpleasant person not only to me but also the man after me who was asking for parking help. The website gave conflicting information about what age for children requires ticket and the greeter was very rude in telling me it was my loss and no type of reimbursement would be offered. Facility was basic and nice enough but I would not pay to go here again nor would I recommend going out of your way to go.

Yelp
A cute, cheaper quaint destination for family and friends. Pick your own seasonal fruit and enjoy fun activities like swings (if you can fit), rock climbing, axe throwing, and tractor riding. Friendly workers who were patient with us and eager to discuss the animals and share experiences with us. A fun variety of farm animals that were very friendly (sheep, rabbits, pigs, goats, chickens). General prices were $5 with additional features costing $5 more

Alex R.

Yelp
Stayed in Julian for thanksgiving and wanted to take my boys to the ice rink. Extremely disappointed It's not a regular ice rink that everyone is used to. It's some fake (GL) ice that sucks!!! It's set by squares and there's gaps in between. Also, nobody seems to clean up the water or dirt on top of it. If you are looking to skate on real ice, avoid this and save your time and money.

Yelp
Coming here was one of our adventure while camping nearby. We were already in line a few minutes before the opening time on a Saturday in July. The parking area was pretty empty. I'm not sure if it was because it was weather related (hot) or the cost of the berry picking. We were informed that it was $15 for either picking strawberries, or blackberry and raspberry. The container for the strawberry was a bit larger than the berry container. The $15 included the petting zoo and hay ride. We were pressed for time so we didn't get to do the hayride. I asked one f the staff how long is the hayride and was told about 8 minutes. I opted to pick for the blackberries and raspberries. The raspberries were quite small, as the blackberries were large. Both berries were sweet. I found the raspberries to be very fragile, so eat right away or freeze them and use in smoothies or baking at a later time. I wandered in the rows of sunflowers and spray of wildflowers. I did have the chance to get a tour of the petting zoo by one of the staffs. She was very helpful and gladly and proudly showed off the beautiful animals that are under their care. On the grounds they have trees that have hammocks. There are also a few picnic tables in the same shaded area. They also have a gift shop that offer fresh flowers, jams, honey and some other merchandise. You will also find some postcards too. If you are looking to pick an abundance of fruit for a deal, this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for the berry picking experience that includes a hayride and petting zoo, plus supporting a small business then, bingo! This the place for you in this area. Experience the small town of Julian nearby too!

Yelp
We went to check out the pumpkin patch. It's very cute. Had things for the kids to do such as rock climbing, crafts and hayrides, Food vendors and gift shop with julian pies. We tried fried oreos for the first time. You can pick fresh berries in season.

Yelp
Went here on the first day of daffodils. It was not very crowded which i liked. They have a few activities around the farm like rock climbing and axe throwing which i thought was cool. We did not go into the petting zoo do to our dog also not allowed in certain crop areas, still very dog friendly. The walk around the farm is very peaceful. We may come by again in another season

Yelp
Came in for strawberry picking on our way out from Julian, unfortunately we arrived a little too late where the berries were already all picked for the day. Arrive early. However, they let us roam the grounds without paying the fee since we knew we weren't going to ride the hay ride or visit the petting zoo. We spent about 30- minutes here letting my grandson run around, play the games, swing, etc. I'd estimate needing at least a couple hours here to experience it all.

Yelp
We came last year to pick pumpkins and my son loved hugging every goats before letting us leave. Saw that it's now open on Wed, Sat, and Sunday so we had to make a trip up the mountain. First time picking raspberries and blackberries ($15 per container) includes hay ride and petting zoo. My son was so sad he couldn't get in there with the goats like before, now that the new fence and gate is up. He tried to enjoy the ear scratches through the fence but it's not the same haha. Love all the additions, awesome hammocks and picnic tables in the shade, misters to help cool down. Was told a helicopter pad was being put in to help with the wild fires. Kindest couple, come support their farm!

Nadia F.

Yelp
Loved every second here!! Everyone here was so sweet. Definitely recommend coming here and making great memories with your loved ones! This is my family's second time coming here and we will continue to do so
google avatar

Yelp
This place actually kinda sucks you pay $10 to get in and it doesn't really include anything at all. They didn't even have enough pumpkins so you couldn't do U-PICK. If you are originally from east coast this is nothing compared to the fun stuff to do at farms there. Super disappointed.

Kristen C.

Yelp
I am very confused how this place has gotten so many good reviews. We just drove an hour to go there today with our 3 year old and it was a complete let down. We purchased tix in advance to avoid lines. We arrived at 10am and there was already a long line. They make people who purchase tix ahead of time wait in the same line as the people who haven't purchased tix. When we finally get in at 10am, they weren't even set up for the day. They had a stage for music and no one played even after we left around 12pm. It was just an odd experience given it is the height of the fall season in SoCal. The farm itself is so run down. There are no berries or apples. No patch for pumpkins. Just pumpkins sitting waiting to be purchased. There was one food truck offering French fries. Bees were everywhere. As for the "kids activities" they said there are two slide areas. The play house they have is so tiny that they can't have more than two kids on it. The other slide was two mini slides coming down from a truck. The hay maze was so small. pro- wild flowers were pretty and the guy riding the tractor was so friendly and honking/smiling for all the kiddos :) also the apple shooter looked cool

Yelp
I had a frustrating situation with trying to go apple picking, etc, etc. I am SO happy to report that the owner of the company called me directly when she heard to fix everything. She even offered four tickets to go apple picking when it's available. I am so impressed that the owner cared enough about good customer service to reach out directly and make it all better. Restores my hope in small businesses!

Yelp
Great family owned business. Apple picking, tour of how apple cider is made. Hay ride, pelting zoo. Nice owners and employees. My pleasure talking with you! Pumpkin patch for Halloween. Very nice setting to spend time with family, relaxing, out of town

Yelp
We came for the flower picking and everyone incredibly helpful both at the entrance booth and the flower field! Each stem was $2 or a dozen for $20. Just from the entrance we could already smell the flowers! We were so excited we didn't even realize there we different kinds of daffodils until we already picked a dozen, lol. After picking our flowers, we walked over to the petting zoo to peek over at the animals. One of the amazing staff members, Ursula, walked over to chat and told us about the rescues they have been caring for. She asked me if I'd like to hold her 2 month old piggy rescue (she could tell i was itching to hold the little guy)! At the gift shop, we grabbed a jug of their apple cider. It was delicious! Great experience, can't wait to visit again :)

Yelp
Great little farm to visit. Every employee was so incredibly friendly and helpful. We did the all inclusive wristbands and took advantage of rock climbing, tractor rides, face paint and petting zoo. The kids were able to hold a baby pig and were in heaven!! There are all kinds of picnic spots with kids activities and swings scattered across the property. Can't wait to visit in the fall.

Yelp
Summary: Please consider reading before visiting a farm. My daughter got injury due to negligence of employee of property, and owners response was rather shocking. "None of it is our responsibility and it doesn't matter what happened." We visited Julian Farm & Orchard to do kids activities and got on a hayride to kick off a fun day. My husband and kids were sitting on a hay wagon waiting for a driver to close the gate. It was a very heavy metal gate that swings 180 degrees and functions as steps to get on the wagon as well. (See the photo attached.) Driver was lifting the gate and she missed the position to lock it before it swings to the other direction. My daughter (7 years old) was sitting on the right edge and her arm got hit by the heavy gate. Poor thing went off and crying so bad and we were all shocked what just happened. Farm's safety procedures and employee training wasn't done thoroughly which caused this accident and that got me upset. The worst was when the owner came and telling us "None of it is our responsibility and it doesn't matter what happened." What would you have done if this happened to your kiddo?..... I was really mad this horrible accident happened to my daughter due to negligence of employee of property. And the attitude and response from owner made me speechless. We took our daughter to urgent care at Santee which was an hour away to make sure everything is good. She got away from a fracture, but got a bad abrasion and a metal shock. She doesn't want to go on a hayride in her life anymore. Please consider looking into other farms in Julian if you are planning for a fun activities day with your kids. Safety procedure at Julian Farm & Orchard is a big concern and anything happens to your child, none of it will be Farm's responsibility according to the owner. We didn't even go to the petting zoo part, but if your child get bit by their animal, please remember it's all on you according to the owner. We have videos of him saying these things, but yelp only take photos as attachment. We will post them to other social media sites to make sure same accident doesn't happen to other families. If you get to go to the farm, please stay extra careful & safe and good luck!

Yelp
Pretty neat place to come if you enjoy pumpkin patches. I've come here with my girlfriend annually for the past few years. The grounds are pretty, there are tons of pumpkins and the area attracts a good amount of bees and butterflies. As an added plus, it's a pretty scenic drive to the Julian area. During the late September through October months, this place can get pretty busy on the weekends. We arrived early and still had to search a bit for parking. Parking is free, though, which is nice. There is a nominal fee to enter. You entree comes with tickets that can be used for purchases and or events. You can buy items from the gifts shops, buy a pumpkin or even a bottle of water with your tickets. Tickets can also be combined with cash for purchases (i.e. $10 worth of tickets can be put towards a $20 pumpkin where you make up the difference w/ cash). As for the events, they weren't particularly interesting to me, but they might be interesting for parents and children. For example, there's a tractor that pulls a cart you can sit in and it takes you around the premises. I saw a lot of families and children doing this and seemingly enjoying it. I didn't really have a desire to go on it, though. Guess I'm getting too old to see the appeal of a tractor ride... Another event they have is ax throwing, which I am a fan of. However, the ax throwing here was pretty basic -- just a propped up board and some, well, axs. I prefer indoor ax throwing where the boards are wall mounted. But hey, if you're not picky like I apparently am, it's an activity available to you if you choose to spend your tickets on it. I guess another sign of my aging is that I was drawn to watching the insects here go about their business. My guess is that insect watching is a precursor to bird watching or watching ducks at a pond, which sounds more appealing the closer I get to becoming a senior citizen. I didn't find inspects too fascinating in my adolescence, but I did enjoy watching them now and the bees and butterflies moving about the various flowers here were mesmerizing to me. And hey, it doesn't cost any tickets to do! There were an abundance of pretty different variations of butterflies all over the place jumping from flower to flower. The flowers and vegetation were full of life and the weather was nice on top of that. All in all, I do really enjoy coming here at least once annually to roam the grounds a bit, enjoy some time outside and to pick up some pumpkins to take home. It's a pretty pumpkin patch with a fair amount to see and do. Not to mention Julian itself is a pretty area and a nice place to visit.

Yelp
This place was amazing. This was our first time in Julian and the farm did not disappoint! From the strawberry picking to the petting zoo to the guided tour from Kyle and Dylan, my friends and I had an amazing experience. Can't wait to come back later this summer for raspberry and blackberry season!

Yelp
Pumpkins not grown on site. If you're here for pumpkins this is the biggest rip off in the history of rip offs. My fam has been coming here for a decade. In years past it's been a quaint local attraction. You could a la cart the extras like animals and hay ride. Sometimes vendors depending on the day. Even better, you could walk out into a hot dusty field and hack a pumpkin off a desiccated thorny vine like Clark Griswold in an orange sweater. Now, there are no more crunchy dried pumpkin fields to venture into. All pumpkins are shipped from off-site just like the ones at your local grocer or pumpkin station parking lot gig. But seven times the price. The new pricing structure has tiers. It seems commercialism and manufactured instagram reels sucked the hometown quality out of this annual tradition for us. Such is the way with progress sometimes. Put two stars because we love the goats, potbelly pigs. Beautiful surroundings.

Yelp
Super sweet friendly workers! Locally owned. Farmer John was super helpful and sweet! Get there EARLY! People complain about the wait times but it is a very popular spot and they can only do what they can! We went early and everything was absolutely perfect. Can't wait to go back!!

Yelp
Just happened to find this place as we were driving to Julian for lunch and to buy a pie. Place was perfect. I have a three year old. We picked Strawberries, raspberries and sunflowers. Also went to their petting zoo which was a wonderful experience for my son. What a perfect outing for an hour or two. Very nice and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They even have hammocks to rest in under some old oak trees. We will most definitely be back. Maybe even have a birthday party here.

Lester J.

Yelp
Ton to do amazing staff friendly attentive really nice. Great place for kids to run around. Swings, rock wall slide etc. relaxing time to enjoy the day

Reilly B.

Yelp
I love this place! It's beautiful, has so many activities that are great for the family and friends, the service from Kyle and Dillon was excellent. We loved the tractor ride and picking the strawberries! The petting zoo was also a huge highlight of the day! Would happily recommend the farm to anyone looking for a fun time in Julian!

Jaime J.

Yelp
Beautiful farm with lots to do! We went ice skating on their Glice rink and it was so much fun. Kyle, the kind man who helped us with our skates, was genuinely gracious and welcoming and even sharpened our skates blades for us! This is a great place to spend the day with friends and family and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for outdoor seasonal fun, any time of year.

Yelp
Excellent place for kids and adults to enjoy a day at the farm for all of the activities. The petting zoo was so great as there was a wide array of different animals you can mingle with and they were all very friendly. The staff was also very friendly and took great care of the animals. You could tell the animals were treated with great care and respect, A+ activity at the farm. The only aspect I would caution folks is the new "ice" rink they are promoting. I've played hockey and skated for 15 years and I could barely stand, yet alone skate on this synthetic, almost plastic-like ice. Between booking the reservation and renting the skates for 2 people was nearly $50, which we only were on the rink for about 2 minutes before I feared I was going to tear my ACL. Keep in mind I'm 30 years old in overall great shape. I cannot begin to explain the need for them to get rid of this plastic rink and replace it with real ice. Not worth the value whatsoever and there's too much risk for injury. Please change the rink to real ice and you guys will have another great activity at the farm!! Other than the rink this farm is highly recommended! Definitely worth a trip.

Yelp
I really loved this farm! I was looking for a dog friendly place to go pumpkin picking and this is one of the best farms I have been too! Most farms are very small with little to do, but this farm has a variety of activities and food which was great. The pumpkins were priced reasonably, but of course going to be more expensive than your local supermarket. The checkout lines were fast and the workers were so wonderful and friendly. They have bowls around the property that provide water for dogs and they even had a little mister that sprays water! That was very helpful considering it was almost 90 degrees in October when we went! I would return here if I wanted to take a little trip back out to Julian. Highly recommend grabbing some pie after as well!

Yelp
First off, this farm is absolutely beautiful and the guys who do the apple tours are fabulous! They were so welcoming and friendly. So why the bad review? Two reasons: 1. The new pricing structure. 2. Customer service at the front entrance. 1. Pricing: I'll admit their old pricing structure was very complicated and in need of revising, but their new solution is not it. We use to be able to come for the apple picking as well as pay for 1 or 2 extra activities separately, which was great, especially from a cost standpoint. The new structure is an all or nothing deal. So, you'll be paying $5 per person just to get in the door, plus $15 per person for the apple picking tour (you are not allowed to pick apples without the tour), plus $20 per bag! That's $40 per person just to pick apples. Then if you want to do any activities, you'll have to pay another $25 per person for the activities wrist band! This all adds up very fast if you are a family with multiple children. For my small family of 3 to pick apples and get the activities wrist band, it would have added up to $195. That's ridiculous! 2. Customer service at the front entrance: The lady helping us seemed very put off. Eva, from the IG account "All Things Julian," was less than friendly. I noticed this not just with myself but the other guests she spoke with as well. It left a very bad impression for us. All-in-all we were pretty bummed with this years apple picking experience. We will be going back to one of the other orchards next year.

Yelp
Place is kinda run down but anyway cut to the chase, after leaving here a couple hours later we were driving by and my wife wanted to go and get a bag of apples which she forgot to get earlier, I let her run in by herself she is a Filipina and extremely nice and is easily taken advantage of, well she came out with a small bag of apples maybe 10 or so and were tasteless, she then told me they charged her $25 for that bag were some of the most expensive apples considering there was about 5lbs of apples in the bag, I wish I went in because that is shameful to take advantage of people so badly, you people should be ashamed of yourself that's such a ripoff especially to someone that is unaware and thinking they are getting something special from a special place. How can you people do these kind of things to customers?

Yelp
Hard to beat a family-run, family focused, U-Pick that doesn't use pesticides. We've watched them upgrade the petting zoo enclosures from what it was when these new owners took over at the end of last year. The cow and donkeys have actual space to move now! This is a class act committed to quality. Our children love to run all over the 25 acres hunting for ladybugs and gobbling up the chemical free strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. We're looking forward to the cut flowers and fall crops coming soon. We've seen one beautiful wedding there too and hope to see more. I highly recommend Julian Farm and Orchard for any event or party.

Yelp
We got a little cabin fever going with the COVID-19. It was nice to find something fun to do with some family members. The drive was alright. We drove through Ramona and got here from San Diego (Mission Valley area) in about an hour and ten minutes or so. The place was pretty easy to find. The staff member here was friendly and we had a great time picking apples, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Admission into the orchard is $1 and a bag for apples goes for $15 and a basket for berries $6. A little pricey, but we came for the experience and just to get out of the house for a while. The apples and berries were fresh and tasty. We should have came earlier in the season, as there weren't as many apples, but we will do that next time around. It's a beautiful farms and orchard. I have to say it is warm out here though. Many photo ops around this place. They have a some tables and shady areas to get out of the hot sun. Also have a few tree swings in the front near the entrance. I recommend bringing a hat and some bottled water when driving out here. There is plenty of parking and three porta-potties in front. We will definitely return.

Yelp
Julian Farm and Orchard was the perfect scenic introduction to fall in Julian. This place is quaint, rustic, simple and charming. Apples were gone at this time in the season but there were pumpkins a-plenty to choose from. Lots of photo-opp moments with charmingly set pumpkin backdrops, hay bales, tractors and awnings. They had a 10 ticket minimum ($10) purchasing system. 6 tickets to press your own cider (select it from a barrel style bowl) and 5 tickets for a hayride. The best part about this experience was taking in the rustic charm of this farm. I had a lovely time.

Yelp
We came here to the pumpkin patch. They do have a few things for the kids to do, like a petting zoo, hatch throwing and a hay ride. You can get a hot dog , chili dog , nachos and drinks. They did have lots of pumpkins to choose from. The parking lot is big and they do have wheel barrows to put pumpkins in

Yelp
Overall we had a great experience and the farm seems well maintained! This was my first pumpkin patch visit in SoCal so it's hard to know the standard but I was surprised the pumpkins were priced based on the width and not the weight of the pumpkin. I got a smaller pumpkin and it was $9. There were lots of activities to do for families if you purchased tickets but we skipped that and just went to pick out a pumpkin. The line was long at the end to check out and I was hoping for caramel apples or pies or pumpkin sweets but they do not sell those things and their apple picking season ended early. So heads up to go earlier in the season if you want apples!

Yelp
This is a cute and welcoming farm with fun activities for a family! We enjoyed their u-pick strawberries, playing yard games, the hay maze, and petting zoo. It has a cute gift shop and is a relaxing place to spend a morning or afternoon. The staff is great and they are super welcoming to Harvest Host members!

Yelp
My family went on the apple "tour" and were very disappointed with the quality of the tour and the lack of apples. We could not fill our $20 bag even halfway full, nor could the rest of the people on the tour. We were asked to take apples off the ground and apples with holes and rot and to simply cut away the rot. It felt like we paid for the "tour" to be told to take the discarded apples and not let them go to waste, since the orchard can't sell them. $10 each for the tour $20 for the tiny bag of apples that you can't even fill. The apples we did pick taste sour and terrible. The tour guide made an inappropriate comment about apples being like people, "the more perfect on the outside, the more rotten on the inside.". I gasped when I heard this and others chuckled uncomfortably while we all exchanged looks. (On the positive side, he handled a medical emergency quickly and respectfully.) I'm writing in case management is unaware of the poor quality of the apple picking and tour. I cannot recommend it to my neighbors and friends who were all eager to bring their own children. I wrote this in an e-mail to management and did not hear back.
