"In a country known for sweets rich in egg yolks and sugar, Brazilian pastry chef Juliana Penteado dared to innovate. Her small, charming pastry shop on Calçada da Estrela seamlessly blends precise French patisserie techniques, local ingredients, and global flavors. Penteado, a judge on Masterchef Portugal, studied at Le Cordon Bleu and lived in Paris before deciding to open her own business in Lisbon. Using organic culinary essential oils, she crafts pineapple choux with kaffir lime, caramel millefeuille with tangerines, and raspberry cheesecake with verbena. Her buttery cookies, perfect for pairing with coffee or tea, are one of many reasons people line up outside her shop on weekends." - Rafael Tonon, Miguel Pires

Gorgeous little hole-in-the-wall French pastry shop serving up delicious, essential oil-infused pastries! I happened upon Juliana Penteado after missing the door to The Folks, but it was such a happy little accident! Juliana Penteado makes the most gorgeous French pastries, all of which are infused with essential oils to give them a fun and unique flavor. She comes up with a new set of 5-10 little cakes / sandwich cookies each week, so the menu is constantly changing, seasonal, and fun! I tried out her coconut ginger guava macaron at her recommendation, and it was delightful! The pastry cream was rich and smooth, and it has a great hit of coconut flavor. It went wonderfully with the guava paste in the center, and she had a bit of a cookie crumble on the outside to give the whole pastry a bit more texture. It's a smidge pricey, but the unique flavor combos, friendly service, and cute space make it all worth it!

Obsessed at first bite. I just walked into this shop on Valentine’s Day to buy myself something sweet, which is rare because I tolerate sugar well, but I had read about this patisserie and had to try pastries made with essential oils. First off the ladies were there and so sweet and cheerful, they gave me a little bouquet of flowers for the day too 🌸🌿 which made me smile. And ohh my, I was not prepared for the incredible subtlety and balance of flavors, smells, and textures in this piece of art. It was Devine!!! ..and not too sweet! Amazing pastries don’t have to be a sugar shock, as these which have far more complexity delicacy and balance than that! Truly what a joy, an amazing and very special shop in the heart of Lisbon. 💗🌿 Thank you for making my Valentine’s Day so lovely!

First off, the cake is the best I’ve ever had since 2019, 5 years ago. I was shocked and so was everyone who had a piece of the cakes I bought. Very very pretty and absolutely delicious. This is coming from someone who generally doesn’t like cakes. I bought 4 mini cakes of different flavor and they were all well loved. Very very good. Not too sweet, just right. And the different unique flavors worked very well together. Remember, if you want a party size birthday cake, you’ll need to pre-order. They only offer mini one person size cakes at the counter.

♥️♥️The cakes were delicious and beautifully packaged, but I was extremely disappointed when I arrived home and discovered a pear cake instead of the chocolate cake I had chosen. It was a regrettable confusion that greatly tarnished my experience. I would have appreciated better attention to detail! Dear Juliana, I just wanted to thank you for your kind offer to come and pick up the cake I wasn't able to enjoy. The cake I received was delicious, and I really enjoyed the warm atmosphere of your shop. Thank you again, and see you soon!

Skip this place if you like average desserts! Found out about this place through a magazine and couldn’t be happier I did! 🤩 I was welcomed with a beautiful smile and warm atmosphere (+the shop is so cute). Every single dessert is pure piece of art. I tried black sesame and bergamot cookie and I’m still dreaming of it 🙌🏻

The choice was slightly limited as I'm a vegetarian (don't eat gelatine), so I had the quindim and the chocolate browie. Both delicious, quality cakes. The brownie in particular is very good value for price!
