The service here was lunch counter style. The servers were efficient, friendly, and very busy. The atmosphere in this little restaurant was quite cramped, but full of nostalgic tomato kitsch, checkerboard, and sweet little farmhouse tables. It was very obvious that this is a community favorite because it was packed.
We ordered a grilled ham and brie sandwich and a ham sandwich. Both of them were exceptionally delicious. Homemade bread. Well-made and well thought out. The only downside of the sandwiches for me was the bread was grilled too hard and it hurt my mouth to eat it.
The other downside for me was the lack of anything but potato chips for a side. Sorry to chip lovers but I feel like potato chips are a lazy option. I really enjoy something like a cold side salad when I'm in this kind of establishment. And I don't mind paying a little bit more for the substitution.
we purchased several cookies (which were kind of pricey!) For our kids and they were huge hit. they were obviously homemade, tender, moist, and very delicious.
if it were an option, I would give this restaurant a 4.5 out of five, but since it's not, I don't feel like it earned the full five stars either.
