"Petoskey residents have been loyal fans of Julienne Tomatoes since the sandwich shop first opened 25 years ago. Beloved for their turkey club sandwich, tomato basil soup, and commitment to area farms such as Bear Creek Organic, the Howard street icon is ideal for stocking up for picnic material here. Julienne Tomatoes offers indoor and outdoor seating, as well as curbside pickup." - Stacey Brugeman

We stopped for lunch on our way to Mackinac Island due to the many good reviews. The tomato soup was one of the best soups I ever had and I don’t even like tomato soup. The sandwich (roast beef) was also delicious. The staff were great too. I would highly recommend this place!!

Google
we loved eating breakfast here on our way to St. Ignace. we got a bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich and a savory quiche---both were soo good! each came with a little strawberry which was a nice touch. we also got one of their massive cookies (the peanut butter cookie) for the road, and that was amazing!

Google
New favorite place. Amazing farm to table meals, sourced from local Petoskey farmers. We had a delicious breakfast, it was very quiet. Super busy for lunch. The quiche and coffee were great! We will definitely be coming back!

Google
It's cozy and friendly. The wait during the fall was not long at all. Food was delicious. Turkey Clube and Caesar Salad added chicken. Local food local restaurant very good thank you.

Google
The food was delicious! Their tomato gorgonzola soup was so yummy. My husband had the mushroom barley, and it was very good also. He had a BLT, and that was good, he said. I had a grilled ham with Brie, cranberries, and lettuce. The bread was so tasty. Chips came with order. More than enough to eat. The people there were very friendly. The place had been there for a long time but we had just heard about it, but then again we don't live there. So glad we went. When in town we will definitely go again. Was a little pricey for lunch but a treat for us since we can't go often . Worth it!!

Google
This place is nothing short of amazing for several reasons…THE most amazing customer service and people, and the food! THE FOOD! I couldn’t decide between a few items and they prepared several things for me to try-and not only was it their idea in the first place, but it was a half hour before closing. And we all know how nice it is to get out of work! It was so thoughtful. Every single item was the favorite though, the excellent quality of the meats and cheeses, the freshest ingredients and the best bread! I just can’t say enough good about this place. It was the first time I went, but I will be back every time I’m in town. As I told them, 12/10.

Yelp
What a gem! We come here every time I'm visiting and it never disappoints. Super cute, charming little spot that's only open for lunch. Very friendly and attentive staff. The food is amazing. Don't sleep on the tomato basil soup ($6.50 for a bowl. A cup will leave you wanting more, so just go for it!). Today I had Howard Street Grill ($12.50), which was a Vermont cheddar and bacon grilled cheese on this amazing cherry pecan bread. So good! Someone else in our group had the ham and Brie grilled sandwich and said it was delicious. It had raspberry jam on it. The others in our group had plain grilled cheese on Parmesan bread to dip in their soup (which everyone got). We're a loud bunch so the silence at the table was a testament to how good the food is. All sandwiches come with chips. I also got a Caramel Pecan Tart ($6) to go which was also perfection and a few of the group had the deviled eggs, which were a daily special that they all really enjoyed. This place is amazing! Well worth a trip to town.

Yelp
The service here was lunch counter style. The servers were efficient, friendly, and very busy. The atmosphere in this little restaurant was quite cramped, but full of nostalgic tomato kitsch, checkerboard, and sweet little farmhouse tables. It was very obvious that this is a community favorite because it was packed. We ordered a grilled ham and brie sandwich and a ham sandwich. Both of them were exceptionally delicious. Homemade bread. Well-made and well thought out. The only downside of the sandwiches for me was the bread was grilled too hard and it hurt my mouth to eat it. The other downside for me was the lack of anything but potato chips for a side. Sorry to chip lovers but I feel like potato chips are a lazy option. I really enjoy something like a cold side salad when I'm in this kind of establishment. And I don't mind paying a little bit more for the substitution. we purchased several cookies (which were kind of pricey!) For our kids and they were huge hit. they were obviously homemade, tender, moist, and very delicious. if it were an option, I would give this restaurant a 4.5 out of five, but since it's not, I don't feel like it earned the full five stars either.

Yelp
Everything is good is excellent. I've been going there for years. The staff, food and prices.

Anna S.

Yelp
This place is adorable. Came here on a Saturday and didn't realize they served breakfast until 12. I will definitely be coming back to try it because it looked delicious. I went with the Cali club and it was very tasty. Highly recommend! I also tried the brownie and it was okay. But I'm a snob when it comes to brownies. The service was fast and friendly and I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The bathroom was so cute with the wall painting and it was nice and clean. Thank you! Lots of street parking around and it's easy to pay for.

Chris C.

Yelp
Very friendly. Great food. Reasonably priced. Had the daily special breakfast sandwich, a quiche, and the man breakfast. Will come back for sure.

Sarah S.

Yelp
What a lovely cafe. Decor is bright and homey. I liked that although they have a screen between the person taking the orders and customers they mic that person so you can hear them clearly! This needed to happen when everyone was wearing mask and behind a shield. We loved the bread so much we went to the bakery that supplies it afterwards and bought some loaves of the cherry pecan. Crooked tree bakery. My friend who is GF found her options varied and enjoyed hers too. The flavors of the ingredients all shone through and generous portions. My order was a half of a sandwich.

Yelp
Lunch at Julienne Tomatoes in downtown Petoskey, Michigan. Parking is by metered street parking. The establishment is somewhat small inside and the tables are very close together. It was pretty crowded the day we went but we were able to get a table as someone was leaving. The food was pretty good and service was friendly. My husband and I both agreed we wouldn't go out of our way to eat here but it's definitely worth it if you're already downtown.

M K.

Yelp
Well. Here is the story. We went here for lunch today. I spent $80. The sandwiches are tremendously tiny. Somebody that works there told a patron she didn't want him to leave hungry. Well the four of us are definitely hungry. We asked to change our regular chips for bbq. We were shut down and denied which was a bad choice on their part. It completely soured our experience. Hence a subtracted star for customer service and the portion size. If you want to spend $15 a sandwich and leave hungry, you should go here. I think customer service is a thing of the past, sadly.

Kristen Y.

Yelp
Delicious vegetarian options and kid-friendly too! I loved the Drew's Delight on Parmesan peppercorn.

Kirsten K.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and low key ambience makes this a neighborhood/locals kind of joint.

Kathy N.

Yelp
Wonderfully fresh food! There are a number of gluten free and dairy free options. Service is friendly and fairly quick even when the place is busy.

Dan H.

Yelp
Julienne Tomatoes is doing food right. House made, quality ingredients, wonderful people. you have to try Julienne Tomatoes it will become a favorite

Lucy L.

Yelp
Excellent service! Goes out of their way to assist customers in their experience! Exceptional sandwiches and homemade soup! Do not miss this opportunity! Quaint spot not to be overlooked!

Kathryn S.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches and soup. Ordered the half turkey California club and soup. Service was quick and it was busy. Highly recommend!

Mark M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch (5 plus a baby) and this place was packed! We had to wait a little bit but one of the gals working was very accommodating and even came outside to give us an estimated time for a table to open up after about 10 minutes of waiting. The food (soup and sandwiches on a cloudy day) really hit the spot. The gals working the floor were very quick to serve and clean up to help the turnaround. Grabbed some tasty cookies on the way out!

Emily G.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwiches, adorable cafe, friendly staff. And they have gluten free bread! Love this spot

Sharon S.

Yelp
This place was s always excellent ! Great choices and very consistent. The owners work hard for the perfection they require. A true favorite.

Yelp
Perched on the top of the quaint downtown of Petoskey, a land that once belonged to the Odawa Native Americans, and is now a resort driven community on the coast of Little Traverse sits Juliannes Tomatoes. A warmly welcoming resturant since 2003 that offers an environment of homey mismatched furniture and food made with love. No ultimatum on the tomatoes. I ordered the "Which Came First" Meal. Fluffy fresh eggs with thick boars head bacon, and potato pancakes. Let's just celebrate all the ways in which you can enjoy potato. I opted in for a 60 cent difference and if came with cherry pecan bread that was simply delightful. My better half delighted in the waffles which had the perfect blend of caramelized sugar and crisp. Highly recommend! The dining experience was a memorable one and the staff was fully masked which in the era of Covid it's appreciated from a science-obeying-customer standpoint. Patrons can peruse a breakfast menu, a lunch menu decorated by wraps and salads, in addition to homemade soups. Not to forget the deliciously displayed and perfectly procured pastries. If you are looking for a genuinely delicious food roll over to Juliannes, tomatoes. Foods ripe!

David A.

Yelp
Cute little sandwich shop with great food. The California Club was delicious and the staff is extremely friendly, helpful and cheery. Food is on the expensive side but very tasty!

Nancy B.

Yelp
Wow! From the moment we stepped in the door, until we left with our belly's full of deliciousness, dining here was one of the nicest experiences we had in Petoskey. The owner and her partner greeted and introduced themselves, made food recommendations, walked through the coffee selections in detail with flavor profile descriptions, told us the history of the building and shared a photo album of their renovations. We ordered French toast made with dried cherry bread and maple syrup with sausage on the side. Yum! Cozy and cute cafe, definitely go. You will not be disappointed

Yelp
I hadn't been to Petoskey in years and this adorable brunch and lunch spot had been on my "to eat" list since 2016. On a weekend road trip up north we made a stop in Petoskey around lunchtime on a Saturday and decided this was the perfect spot for quick lunch that wasn't gonna make us feel super heavy for the several more hours in the car we had ahead of us. Cute vintage decor and antique tables and chairs. Eclectic and comfortable with friendly service and homemade items we were hoping for. They even have a little history of the building display that was a very cool touch for such a cool location. Needless to say the food lived up to our hopes. I had a BLT (which is one of my favorite sandwiches, so I'm super picky about what makes a good one, a great one, or a subpar one). This was EXCELLENT. Bacon cooked perfectly, warm and toasty homemade sourdough bread, fresh, crisp lettuce and a perfectly ripe tomato. Just enough mayo and a bag of Michigan made potato chips. My boyfriend had a caesar salad which was equally crisp and had just the right amount of dressing, Parmesan, and croutons. We shared both and it was just the right amount of food for a quick lunch. Trust me, I had a hard time turning down the fresh quiche and baked goods in the display. Will definitely eat here again on our next stop in Petoskey. There were a lot of items on the menu that were calling our names.

Julie K.

Yelp
So cute and local. Everything is fresh and hot. Staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Try something you wouldn't usually like, you're gonna love it.

Sue W.

Yelp
Our breakfast was delicious!! I had the bacon, egg, and cheese wrap while my friend had the veggie sandwich. Both were tasty!!

Carol Z.

Yelp
Always delish! Great small town ambiance. Wonderful breakfast and lunch options. Service is excellent too!

Shari C.

Yelp
Called to order two premade catering "by the pan items" and was laughed at. Told they would need many months notice. Months? It was strange and staff seemed inexperienced. Disappointing experience. If you don't want to offer premade items take them off your website.

Denise B.

Yelp
Holy cow. Not a huge menu but what they have to offer was amazing. I was hoping to go back the next morning but we left too early. Disappointed we couldn't return but when we are back in Petoskey we will definetely be returning.

Luca S.

Yelp
Best soup not only in the area, but the state! One of my lifetime favorite restaurants. Have been coming here since I was little, Tomatoes means a lot to me. Super fresh and tasty ingredients and a homemade, warm environment. Love you Julie!!

R T.

Yelp
Great local business with a loooong record of success. It's fast casual and can be difficult to get a table and for good reason. Reasonably priced breakfast and lunch offerings that are all spot on. Fast and friendly service makes up for the crowds. We often ask for one sandwich to split and without exception, they serve it for two without being asked. It's a small thing but makes for a good experience.

Paul S.

Yelp
Cute little place that's been in Petoskey since 2003. Great homemade soups and sandwiches. Also open for breakfast.

Elise D.

Yelp
We ordered a larger to-go order the other weekend and every single sandwich was amazing. The bread on each sandwich was delicious. Despite being pretty busy that Saturday afternoon, our order was ready in less than 30 minutes.

Gary M.

Yelp
Great gluten friendly find near the U.P. (or in the U.P. depending on who you ask). The California club sandwich was great. The GF bread was toasted just right to have a nice crunch, but still the right amount of chew to it. Fresh veggies, crispy bacon...yum. Peanut butter cookie was humongous and soooo good! Made you forget it was gluten free! Super nice people too!

Marie H.

Yelp
Very yummy "Ghost" veggie wrap. We weren't crazy about the cheddar ale soup or grainy texture of it. The huge chocolate chip cookie was good and we worked on that all day. Staff was friendly, greeted upon entering, right there to clear our dirty dishes, and told us "gals" to have a good day upon leaving. I'll be back when back in Petoskey for sure.

Ann V.

Yelp
Great food, excellent servers. Only downside was a small cup I was given for my ice tea.

Gina P.

Yelp
Called to place a carry out order right before closing and the worker was very nice on the phone. The sandwich was the best i've had in a while!! Literally craving it right now. I ordered the "gotta try this" on multigrain bread. So flavorful, fresh, and loved everything that was on it. It was absolutely delicious. Place is very cute and cozy inside. Clean as well. Cannot wait to have this sandwich next time I travel to Petoskey.

Christian J.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is always wonderful and the staff is genuinely friendly.

J J.

Yelp
This is an upscale sandwich shop. My rating is based on those businesses. I had the ham and brie. It was very good. The ham had good flavor without having the salty taste. The brie was soft and a great combination. Bread was toasty and crunchy on the outside with a pillowy texture on the inside. Cranberries were just the right amount. Not too sweet or overpowering. The bag of chips, Better Made Snack Foods, Inc., that come with the sandwich were just ok. They tasted like they were made from a powder instead of slices from a potatoe (think chips in a can). But, they are a local chip maker. Service was quick and friendly. The employees were top notch. I would come back again for sandwich.

S.K. B.

Yelp
The Lamplighter is the absolute best breakfast wrap (also available as a sandwich) in town!

Nancy L.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly staff and efficient ordering process I love that they have unusual offerings to choose from.

Dennis M.

Yelp
Great small town atmosphere and fantastic foods. We ready enjoyed the home made soup and sandwiches. Friendly services and fair prices.

Marc M.

Yelp
WE have eaten here several times since 2013. Last year it was not very operational due to the plandemic so we passed. But the other day we got our sandwiches to go and ate them on a bench and blankets in the 'greenway' park. The sandwiches did not disappoint as they were as good as we remember them to be. Kudos to the team and thanks for being survivors.

Betsy L.

Yelp
Great selection for lunch. For a sandwich shop they had a lot of carb-lite options too with soup and Giant salads. We would come back for the great soup and unique sandwiches made with fresh bread. It was rainy when we stopped in, but they had a lot of small tables (2-3 seats) so it was quick for us to find one. I may caution trying to come here with a group of 5 or more during busy season. Seating is first come first serve, May be hard to sit together.

Amy F.

Yelp
Family vacation up north, we stopped here for birthday lunch and absolutely loved it! Way over priced but delicious food!

Nicole E.

Yelp
I really enjoyed their tomato soup and the veggie sandwich... on the parmesan bread, the bread was really good. The veggie was with hummus, spinach, red pepper and cuke, I think. My BF thought his chicken sandwich was just ok.

Jenna S.

Yelp
I've gone to Julienne Tomatoes twice now. Both times were a sandwich take out to bring for an afternoon outside. Once we hit the State Park beach and another while kayaking. Ordering was easy call in your order and then a quick pick up. The sandwiches are all top notch, no complaints from the 4 we've tried. The roast beef and BLT club were favorites. Each sandwich is actually 3 halves and is a full meal. In addition it comes with a pickle and chips. Their menu says that they have New York Times best chocolate chip cookies, I wasn't aware that they were experts but I tried one and it was fantastic! Enough chocolate, soft/fluffy, yet crispy edge! When open for normal dining (they just do carry out for Covid), it seems like a cosy place that would fill up fast. Might be best to walk over to the nearby park and eat there as long as the weather allows!!

Alexandra R.

Yelp
My Mother in Law got me hooked on Julienne Tomatoes. I love this place for lunch when shopping in Petoskey. The fresh, homemade soup is delicious. Their sandwiches are served and made fresh. The staff are always excellent. The only downfall is how small the place is... it kind of sucks trying to find a table on a busy weekend, you might have to stand around for a few minutes to get a seat but it's well worth it. It'd be nice if they expanded this location! (fingers crossed).

Laura Lilley S.

Yelp
Great food consistently. Love their quic Great food consistently. Love their quiche!

Susan K.

Yelp
SUPER yummy sandwiches. They are pretty good size and everything is fresh and delicious. Great staff and comfortable atmosphere. Can't recommend enough!

Kari C.

Yelp
Great homemade soups and sandwiches! Fun hometown atmosphere. Highly recommend this cute place.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Great food. We will be back. Came here for lunch. Ordered at the counter (hard to pick just one sandwich). Got our drinks and sat at a table. Food was brought out promptly. The bread for the sandwiches were delicious (as well as the sandwiches themselves).
