"The back patio at Julie’s is your aspirational Pinterest garden board come to life. It’s got succulents poking out of every available surface, plenty of picnic tables and seating, and (most of the time) functioning wifi—ideal for a quiet coffee date or a morning spent typing away on a spreadsheet. What a great spot for breakfast and brunch. Its a very simple and charming place with a great atmosphere. Service is great from the order taker to the server. I got a Julie's breakfast sandwich with orange juice and a medium latte. Everything was on point. Price is also fair. I highly recommend this place when you are in Alameda.

We did a lunch party in the back garden and it was so lovely! The staff was very accommodating and kind and went above and beyond. They even accommodated our request for an all vegan menu! We had a lovely time and it was very reasonably priced! Love to come here for a coffee in the garden regularly too, but the event was especially nice!

SerpAPI
A delightful place to have a meal, snack or just tea/coffee. No interior seating at the moment, which is just fine as the garden area is by far the best spot. Menu is studded with wholesome items. There is always an excellent healthy alternative. The space is surprisingly quiet (just off Park Street) and conducive to hang out and relax.

Had time to relax and enjoy Julie's tea garden today. Vanilla black tea with cream & honey, ham quiche and sourdough toast...just what I needed!! Happy staff with excellent service and delicious food! ❤️

My favorite cafe in Alameda! Such a special outdoor patio in the back. Great place to open the laptop do work, meet with friends or people watch. I've came for their Autumn Equinox and Bewitching Afternoon Tea Party with my daughter and had a wonderful time. A lovely spread. So festive and fun.

It's hard to find a breakfast place in Alameda that has vegan options and am so happy Julie's does! Nice selection of vegan desserts too. The Vitality Tonic was really good and the patio is so cute!

They just opened up again and I love this place. They have awesome chocolates, teas, specialty coffees, treats and all kinds of locally made products. I always get something different and they also have a wonderful outside sitting area. Come here with friends enjoy!

Yelp
I visited Julie's many years back when it was in Oakland & enjoyed their avocado toast so when I was looking for a spot for a delicious, light breakfast I was happy to try them out in Alameda. We ordered their avocado toast, sweet potato hummus on sourdough, an oat milk rosemary latte, and an oat milk matcha latte. I was worried the avocado toast wouldn't live up to my memories but it did !! Perfectly balanced flavors, the cilantro was a treat. I don't know what olive oil they used but it was so delicious. The sweet potato hummus was a bit of a miss tbh, I couldn't try it because I'm allergic to pine nuts but my daughter said it needed a bit of chili oil or something to bring it up a notch. Both drinks were so good. I love a good rosemary latte & this did not disappoint. The matcha latte was the best we've had in a long time, with a strong matcha flavor. The baristas were friendly and helpful & I appreciate the outdoor seating. I'll def be back; if I lived closer I'd be a regular !

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Julie's! I came here because my friend recommended it to me and I stop by almost any time I'm in the neighborhood. Julie's is just so cute. Lots of seating inside and outside. Also the walls are adorned by such beautiful art. I mostly order a latte and quiche when I come here but both are devine. I love that their coffee is strong but has great flavor. Their quiche is my absolute fave. The crust is very crispy and buttery. The egg and veggies are always cooked to perfection. The folks at Julie's are always super sweet and courteous. My last visit is the first time I was able to eat there and I checked out their back patio and garden. Very cute and peaceful back there. Looks like a good place to get work done or chat with friends.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I love their coffee but I never understand why they keep using these cheap 2 cents to-go carton cups for $7,5 coffee. The cup lids don't stay and fit so you probably will spill the coffee on your clothes. I told them they need to change their cups, but they literally don't take any action obviously the owner doesn't really care about customer experience and thinks they do a big saving by keeping these cheap coffee cups. I went there last week and saw a couple outside they were dealing with the coffee the guy did spill on his white shirt. And, I told the cashier that, she said she shared this situation to the owner. So, I went there again today and saw nothing was changed. Same cups that I spilled coffee again. This is really dramatic customer experience.. Attached is picture you can see clearly what I mean by

Yelp
So friendly, and such good breakfast food. Perfect espresso and drip coffee game. Clean and comfy (if small) front room. Try it!

Doris G.

Yelp
Always a fun place to catch up with friends and sit in a beautiful garden outside. We had the cucumber salad with blueberries. Also ordered a most delicious asparagus grain bowl with quinoa, roasted carrots, asparagus, candied nuts, topped with micro greens. This was delicious and filling and will be back to order the grain bowl again. You place your order at the counter and they bring your food out quickly. Service was very friendly.

Yelp
Great place to grab a cup of tea. I got the Orange bliss and my friend go the Latte. This seems to be a quiet, low-key place to sit and talk. They mentioned a patio in the back. If requested, they'll add honey to your tea. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Great addition to this neighborhood.

Giovanna R.

Yelp
Super cute cafe, with an Alice and Wonderland-like hidden garden in the back! Coffee was good (latte) and lavender shortbread cookie (super tasty) -- get it! Service is decent, and pricing is pretty good.

Leicia W.

Yelp
Vegan options? YES. Cute little back yard area that makes you feel at home? YES. Kind authentic staff? YES. Good vibes? YES. My new favorite cafe in alameda thank you!!!

Jason W.

Yelp
Anytime I'm in the east bay I make sure i go to Julie's.. Unsuspecting gem for those who know! And if you haven't tried the avocado toast, it's a must!

Karen C.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cafe looking for coffee in a late afternoon, luckily Julie's coffee ad Tea garden was opened. We didn't know it is actually a garden! We were so surprised when the staff led us through an alleyway and to the backyard of the store front, and arrive at this small garden. The garden is very nice, with many shaded tables, flowers and statues. I see many people working here. I would imagine having difficulty getting a table sometimes due to many people just staying and working. The garden is pet friendly too, I saw some people bringing their dogs here. Got the matcha latte and hot chocolate. Honestly the drinks are mediocre. They also serve actual food here too. I wanted to get a straw for my latte but only found stainless steel reusable straws at the service station. I know they are clean but mentally I just worry that they are dirty. I am sure they would provide you disposable straws if you ask the staff directly. Really cute relaxing cafe, good place to spend a relaxing afternoon!

Lorenzo H.

Yelp
I Go here for coffee and when it's nice out sit in the backyard patio. It's nice. Service is nice and friendly too. However I came recently and ordered a 7.50 iced matcha latte and it came room temperature. It was pretty disappointing. Shows lack of care in their quality to me

Danielle D.

Yelp
The food was so good and very creative! Familiar flavors in new fun ways! The service was great and the servers were really knowledgeable. And the cafe itself was an eclectic cozy vibe that made you feel at home but gave you a lot to explore visually.

Lynn T.

Yelp
The scone here was very fresh it made every scone I had before taste dry. It was the perf amount of crisp on the edges and soft inside. I loved the chocolate orange flavor. The chai latte was a good balance of chai flavor and milk I enjoyed it as well. My items were brought out very quickly after ordering. I brought my book to read out in the garden patio and it was a very serene experience. After 9am more people started coming in and conversing with each other. This seems to be a great spot to read/have quiet time if you go early enough. A great place to meetup for bfast/brunch as well with the amt of seating and shade they have. This cafe has very tranquil vibes and the menu items I tried had quality taste. Service was quick and friendly too!

La Shauna N.

Yelp
What a calm place to work and sip on a good cup of Joe. Relaxing space and great service. I had the veggie quiche and a carpaccio. Very cozy place.

Yelp
Just came back from a "high tea" gathering of 15 folks celebrating a friend's entrance to graduate school. We arrived more than 30 minutes before the guest of honor and had the back portion of the pation reserved for us. Staff was very accommodating and besides the 2 pots of tea that we ordered, brought out plenty of coffee for those preferring coffee. We never felt rushed, and the server checked on us often to make sure we had what we needed. The table setting was so cute (although it was pointed out to me that the cutlery wasn't properly placed, lol) and the platters of goodies was more than enough for 2 people. Everything was good (one cream puff looking thing was a little too sweet), and there were even some leftovers to bring home to snack on. Although this place is more like a breakfast cafe than a high tea restaurant, they do a good job with their high tea. I'll have to come back to try their highly rated avocado toast!

A D.

Yelp
The patio behind this restaurant would be worth making a stop even if they didn't have good food and drinks, but fortunately, the espresso and tea drinks are solid and they also have lovely sandwiches and quiche, including gluten free items. The people who work here are very nice and there's a calm, friendly vibe. Only negatives were the long time to get food after ordering and the challenge of getting a spot on the patio that wasn't too sunny.

Cande S.

Yelp
Julie's was the perfect venue for hosting my Bridgerton themed tea party for my 30th birthday. The table set up was perfect -- I loved the mix-matched dainty tea cups and the beautiful floral arrangements. The food was delicious and elegantly presented on tea towers. They also have a large selection of loose leaf teas and I was able to pick a few of them for our party. My guests and I were so impressed! Julie and Shannon were wonderful and had excellent communication leading up to the event. Heidi, our server, was lovely and very attentive to our group and was kind enough to take pictures. We enjoyed our afternoon tea in the beautiful garden patio. Will definitely be back. :) Cande

Sarah H.

Yelp
Julie's tea garden is so beautiful! Their teas are so tasty and pure, and they even have many options for gluten free pastries and plates! I'd definitely check it out if you're in alameda! Cute little walking downtown too!

Cody H.

Yelp
Cute spot. Great back yard garden. Tasty healthy food. Decent prices. Friendly staff.

Grazie E.

Yelp
From tea, to a sit-down coffee ambiance. I love it all. Its relaxing and a wonderful place to do work, and/or read a book. The service is friendly. I love coming here to purchase any fresh tea leaves and browse their accessories!

Abby F.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to have a lunch and meet friends. Good food, good atmosphere. Always reliable. I love the garden too!

Brandi W.

Yelp
I met a friend here for lunch and it's so cute! I can't believe I've never been here before. Perfect for a warm day since they have a patio where you can enjoy your food or beverage out there. It was a pleasant surprise to know this isn't just a coffee bar. The staff here is superb too! They are are very friendly and have good recommendations. I also like that that have a small retail area inside too. What more could you ask for?

Chloe C.

Yelp
Cool decor and friendly employees. I liked the vibes inside. I just got a honey latte and it wasn't anything special. The flavor was very subtle.

Wanugee N.

Yelp
I have been going to Julie's for years, and I don't live near Alameda! But when I am there, I often meet friends and clients here, especially during the summer months because it has a chill vibe, great selection of drinks you won't find in most run-of-mermaid places, and a large rear patio with a lot of tables and space. I tend to prefer rear patio urban joints like this, where you can talk and get away from the sounds of making coffee (the front room here is fairly small, just a few tables, in comparison to the patio) and enjoy the air, sun and space without tripping over the laptop remote office types tethered to the wall. Don't get me wrong, I can set up my socially adjacent coffee shop remote office anywhere with the best of the Tech Heads, and I carry a multi charging cable menagerie for all my devices, with an extension chord! Thankfully, there isn't that vibe here. It's funny but there are several green mermaid places that I know that blocked off the plug outlets, removed tables and chairs, closed the bathrooms, and went from gathering places and coffee offices to just take out coffee. Maybe they should go the the real Italian model, where you would get a small demitasse cup of expresso standing at the bar counter, no chairs, where you could get your cigs, too, before taking your Moped to work. Sort of 7 Eleven meets Espresso machine. Check the menu photo here for the unusual variety Julie's offers, including kombucha, tonics, teas, and of course, coffee. Probably not the same Julie, but long ago in SF SOMA there was a Julie's Supper Club I used to go to, and I think there used to be a Julie's in Oakland's Temescal area.

Tina D.

Yelp
The place looks very run down and not well kept. The cookies and pastries had flies all over them. I saw at least 4 crawling around inside the case. The drinks we had were watery and the back patio is neglected and covered in spider webs. The whole place needs a refresh. Especially for the high prices they are charging.

Wanda R.

Yelp
So wholesome and delicious! i'm an Alameda resident and plenty of my peeps have been going to Julie's historically. So lets get right down to it. First time here and I struck a winner: -salmon toast -add mixed greens -add soft boiled egg -extra chili oil Dayum!!! Soooo good!

Lucy F.

Yelp
Got a Mexican mocha to enjoy in their adorable garden. Mocha was very good, perfectly dark and sweet for my tastes. Excellent service as well.

Kay D.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this tea shop on my way to the car lol. It was perfect drink to begin my day, I honestly didn't know there's an organic loose leaf tea cafe on Park St. Love the inside of the shop, filled with apothecary goodies, organic loose leaf teas, postcards, blow glass decors, ceramic tea kettles and mugs. There were a lot of goodies to look at while waiting in line to order a drink. Drink menu is very extensive!!! There are bakery food and hot foods as well. WHAT I ORDERED Herbal tonic Immunity tea latte $5 Very herbal, earthy flavored tea latte w organic whole milk. I wasn't used to the herbal tea latte flavors. It came with honey but wasn't sweet enough so I added additional sugar packets. Very decent and reasonable cost for drinks. Ok I'll need to order tea here from now on after my morning classes lol.

Diana R.

Yelp
Parking is hard so prepare to be patient! Oh my where to start!! I had a delicious fruit toast with a lavender latte. Its the first time i have a lavender latte that tastes balanced. Usually they are very heavy with the lavender but it was delicious. The cashier was kind to recommend it with my toast and it was yummy. There is a patio in the back that has a cute back yard at grandma's house vibe in the best way. It was covered and shady but we still got a little sun. Tons of places to sit and relax. Service was quick and excellent, and I love how environmentally friendly they are!

Dana S.

Yelp
Ambiance - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Drinks and food - 5/5 Had a great experience at Julie's! It's a quaint coffee shop with an outdoor garden with seating. My partner and I ordered a dirty chai, Mexican hot chocolate, the blueberry lavender scone and breakfast sandwich. All were delicious. Heads up, the Mexican hot chocolate was spicier than normal for me, but tasty. My favorite item was definitely the lavender blueberry scone!

Lynn C.

Yelp
Love the ambiance of Julie's Coffee. I sat in the garden it was very peaceful and tranquil. However, as it got a little later, it started to get very busy, and the tranquility turned into a chit chat garden. The coffee and latte were amazing. I think it's one of the better ones I have had in a very long that that actually tasted like a latte with great flavors, not just plain milk flavored. The food was nothing really amazing or special but would like to try their pastries and sweets the next time I return. I am glad there is such gem in Alameda.

Yelp
WHEN: Sunday @Noon There's still a pandemic going on so I am grateful Julie's has only outdoor seating options: In the back patio garden and in their park let up front. The 2 times I went in the back and there's always an open table for me. They set up has gotten nice where there is a covering above. It's quite spacious and plenty of tables. One time there was a bridal shower happening. On Weekends they turn off the wi-fi. Here's what I have ordered: DRIP COFFEE - $4 14 oz - I have low standards in coffee so I can never write much about coffee. TEA - BLACK LAVENDER - $4 14 oz - I wanted a tea with caffeine and this seemed lovely with lavender, and it was! LEMON CURD CREAM CHEESE PASTRY - $5 Quite pricy for a little thing, yeesh but this flakey thing was nice after I took it home and threw it in the air fryer. Great for those who like lemon desserts since the cream cheese pastry include a giant dollop of lemon curd on top. OATMEAL COFFEE CAKE - $4.50 this vegan cake is delicious and hefty and it's why I ordered it again. I enjoyed all the oatmeal textures i this and it doesn't taste try (this is me trying to not use the word moist since it seems a lot of people don't like this word). But yeah, sweet, not dry, veery oaty. The fact that this spot turn off their Wi-Fi on weekends does not shy me away. I love it here and they have plenty of food and drink options. Oh yeah they have a gift shop inside too. I just love their patio garden area so much.

Semuteh F.

Yelp
One of my favorite cafes and I don't hesitate making the drive from Oakland to sit in their lovely garden for a coffee and cheddar chive biscuit. I recently came for their afternoon tea-not sure how often they do this but it was absolutely perfect. The presentation was beautiful and the food was delicious-perfect amount of food for lunch and lots of tea refills. Service is always kind here. If you're bringing a stroller, note that the alley to the back garden is narrow and there's a small step. I was able to navigate a wide bugaboo okay but just note the tight turning radius and step. Their cafe has some great gifts/ceramics too and it's just a lovely space overall.

Rachel C.

Yelp
The entire store is really friendly! You can spend all afternoon and enjoy the coffee.

Oanh L.

Yelp
5 stars for the cocoa nib bar, reasonably priced baked goods and friendly customer service! I would come here often if I lived close by :)

Drew J.

Yelp
Not sure why I haven't left a review sooner, because Julie's is hands down my favorite coffee shop in Alameda. I have been addicted to their iced chai lattes for years, and the best part about it, you can't get it anywhere else! Julie's is known for making their own tea blends. They also sell loose leaf tea, coffee beans, jams, etc. if you want to make at home. Julie's Breakfast Sandwich is to die for -- great for splitting with a friend! And I'm a huge fan of the thumbprint cookies Let me tell ya, Julie's can just have my wallet when that Heirloom Tomato Sandwich is back in season in the summer. While Julie's is a bit pricey, you know you're getting good quality food with locally sourced ingredients. I love the outdoor patio in the back. The plants and seating have a tranquil vibe to them. Depending on the time you go, it'll either be a nice, quiet area where you could work (usually during the week) or a more lively spot to catch up with friends (on the weekends). Since Alameda is a small town (and the addition of parklets during the pandemic), parking can be limited on Park Street, but it's not too difficult to find spots on neighboring streets.

Ash D.

Yelp
Cute cafe spot to do sit and do work or hand out with friend! I came here to do some work but unfortunately their wifi wasn't working and neither my friend or I could get connected so we couldn't stay for too long. I ordered a latte and salmon toast and it came out to around $16-19, if I remember correctly. I didn't think the food was anything amazing but the ambiance of the cafe is really nice especially if you sit outside in the garden area. We would've stayed longer if the wifi was working

Jason M.

Yelp
Perfect place for lunch and tea or coffee. They have an awesome back garden for a relaxing afternoon.

Laurra H.

Yelp
Lovely backyard seating area. People come to eat in the back. Walk through kitchen to get to the back door. Food: a bit bland. The ham quiche was perfectly seasoned. Ordered the chai latte which was a good portion. Not aromatic enough for me. Highly recommend endless pot of tea if you like that. Highly recommend sitting in the back. Ambiance very floral and casual. Great place to read newspapers.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Julie's Coffee and Tea Garden is such a cute little coffee shop located in downtown Alameda. There is a back patio garden with flowers and umbrellas, and benches. During the day the patio is definitely the hot spot. Also, it is a device free zone so take your phone calls and write your tweets outside! I love their baked eggs, which is zucchini, onion, garlic, tomato, red bell pepper, kale, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper Lavender iced latte with oat milk (my go to) Vitality Tonic Latte: a super food latte with ashwaganda, shatavari, maca, and cinnamon

Daw M.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop! I just drop by to grab a quick Lavender Latte to go, but I will definitely be back to try the food and give you my verdict. My latte was too much on the milky, sweet and not enough coffee side. So if you like that coffee taste just ask for another shot.

Alex H.

Yelp
I really enjoy Julie's Tea Garden, the coffee is delicious, the ambiance is super cute, the service is always friendly. I always return when I am on Alameda.

Lilly O.

Yelp
This cafe is super cute and I love the garden seating out back. I love coming here for some solo time with a book or to get some quiet work done during the week. Pastries and coffee are very yummy.

Matt W.

Yelp
Ordering online through a QR code - Love the use of tech Sitting outside in the warmth of the sun - A lovely setting for an amazing meal 3 Julie's Breakfast Sandwich's - Tasty Fresh squeezed orange juice - Healthy and thirst quenching Coffee - The best I've had in a long time. Asking me to go inside and pay for a coffee refill - Really?

Pat C.

Yelp
Gently paced, everything has a soft touch from the mucin played to the staff and the delicacy of the flavors.

Marina G.

Yelp
I love this establishment, they have the cutest garden in the back which is very peaceful and relaxing. Service is always helpful and nice. The food is good also, I usually get the cold vanilla latte which is very creamy and delicious

Zeph W.

Yelp
Usually a fan of this place, but today I got pieces of nectarine Pitt in my grain bowl. Totally unacceptable, this breaks teeth. Do better Julie's Update: after finding several more larger pieces I decided to show them what it was and confirm they were doing something to keep it from happening again. How this got into food shows some huge negligence. Turns out to be plum pit from the dressing supposedly. One of the girls behind the counter was cool, offered a refund. The other girl gave me attitude for calling twice and showing up with the pieces to show them what it was. If you're going to contaminate food and put people in danger you are not in a place to throw attitude. That's the time to be humble, accept responsibility and make it right. It's my neighborhood spot I go to all the time, and stuff like this shows they don't deserve my business unfortunately.

Sarah G.

Yelp
Loved this place - going back again today! I have eaten a lot of avocado toast and this was by far the best hands down! The mocha Mexican was out of this world! Beautiful outside garden area created such a serene and amazing location. Love love love this place and wish I lived near something like this!

Jenny A.

Yelp
I want to love this lovely spot; really I do. The garden is so pretty and the whole thing is a charming concept. But unfortunately everything is just a little off, the baked eggs over baked, the baguette frozen in the middle, the latte luke warm, the food brought to table kindly but without utensils, the water glass dirty, the neighbors' leaf blower screaming.
