"Julie’s Cuban Restaurant, Dundas West by Sovereign State. Julie’s Cuban is not found on the main Dundas strip, rather it’s tucked away on Dovercourt Road, right between Dundas St and Queen St. Julie’s has been around for 20 years and remains one of Toronto’s best kept secrets. Besides serving tapas and authentic Cuban fair, they are known for their mojitos and piña coladas, which may be the best in the city. The moment you step inside you are enveloped by the cozy fairy lights and wall of trinkets collected over the years. During summer nights the front patio is open, creating a romantic atmosphere perfect for those long days."
I’ve driven by this place HUNDREDS of times before and always forgot about it. It’s easy to miss. Finally remembered to visit and so grateful I did. It’s easy to miss because it’s a house-turned-restaurant that’s tucked away behind some lush greenery on Dovercourt. Absolutely adorable!! Ask the waitress about the history.
BEST margaritas in town. The Plantain with Cheese was so fresh, the chorizo and coconut shrimp was just as good, the decor actually takes me back to Cuba. This is an all-around 5-star rating. I loved being here. And my waitress - I’m mad I forgot her name - was the sweetest. Hope you’re living your best life baby girl!! 😊

Consistently good. Working my way through the menu and everything is cooked very well. Flavours are spot on. Service is equally as great. This is now number 1 pick on the families list of restos to eat at. I can definitely see why they have been open for so long.

If there’s one thing I dislike about this place, it’s that I discovered it too late - just a month before it closes! This unassuming neighbourhood watering hole serves comforting Cuban cuisine and the most incredible guacamole I’ve had in the city. The prices here are great, so you definitely get your money’s worth - even their cocktails are $10 or less and absolutely delicious. MUST visit before they close. I know I’ll be back many times between now and August 31st!

This is one of the best restaurants in Toronto. Amazing food. Amazing drinks. Huge portions. Exceptionally nice and personable staff. And such a cozy, cute, and tucked away atmosphere. Seriously, do yourself a favour and come eat here.

I'm so sad that this place is closing the end of August. Drink was great, food was DELICIOUS and service was impeccable. Real loss for the neighborhood but ecstatic that the Proprietor can retire.

Good food. My chicken breast was super tender and juicy. Very good service. It's just a tad pricey for what you get considering it's off the main strip. That's why it's not 5 stars.

The decor and customer service was great. However, I found the food to be bland and very expensive for quality and serving size.
