Julio's Churros (stand)

We went to this churro stand after reading some reviews. Our go to churro in Puerto Vallarta is the churro guy. However, after tasting these churros, I think I prefer them. They’re still crunchy on the outside, but they’re a little soft in the middle and a little salty. They’re served with either chocolate or caramel sauce. The price for three is 20 pesos. we did go one night and he wasn’t there so I’m not certain if he sets up every night like the other stand.

I made it a point this year to get to this churro stand as I found about it too late last year. LOCATION: It's located at the corner of Aguacate & Lázaro Cárdenas right by the Iglesia de la Santa Cruz church (2019). No hours are posted but the 5pm start time is accurate. I assumed there'd be a long line and a quick sell out but I saw people carrying the goods well past 8:30pm and no line was there when we went. THE STAND: It's a simple operation and they're made hot and fresh on the spot. A tripod holding up what looks like a big caulking gun is instead full of churro batter, aimed at a bubbling pot of oil. He squeezes them out one by one, cutting them with a swift swipe of a knife. They fry for just a few seconds before being dusted in cinnamon and sugar. MENU: Churros! FOOD: Churros What a deal! There's nothing like eating them hot. While super crunchy, they weren't thick enough to produce a moist interior which is what makes a churro even more delectable and a bit of a downfall for me. You get the taste of a churro but not the whole package. SERVICE: Not friendly at all. I get it that some tourists can be annoying but he literally barked-back responses to simple questions about price to people before us, a total turn-off to me. Be appreciative that people patronize your biz and don't take them for granted!? OVERALL: Not a repeat for me. I already know of a good spot for churros which I'll go back to next time and will continue exploring the area for more options.

The churros were really good. However, they do not post the prices for the churros, and they will adjust the price based on what they think they can get from you. As a tourist, this does frustrate me a fair bit. I know this since the first night I got churros from the stand. The cost was 100 pesos and for the same amount a few nights later it was 180 pesos.

Street food at its best. I wanted churros for my last night and found this listed on google maps, and they were there #amazing Made fresh in front of me they were light & fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, coated in cinnamon sugar. 5 pesos per piece, I got 5, so delicious....the best I've had in Mexico!

Came here on recommendation of friends who live in PV. Good price for a bag of churros but overwhelming oil taste and smell. Do not recommended. La Romántica churros are far better

Do not miss this. Family recipe churros. Thinner and crispier than the US cousins. But better in my opinion. Good snack before or after dinner. Well known in Puerto Vallarta right outside church Iglesia d La Santa Cruz

Amazing! We visited this little street churro stand probably 3 nights in a row. The people were very nice, and better yet the churros were amazing! The churros were around 20 pesos a bag, which is very affordable. It was fun to watch them get made right in front of you. Worth the stop for some authentic street churros!

Pretty damn good churros. These ones are thicker than some others I've tried. $5 pesos per piece, which isn't too bad considering their size. I got a bag of 10. I asked and they said there were no animal products in them, so they should be vegan.

Freshest churros you can get in PV! A couple runs the stand together. They only operate at night so be sure to stop by if you see them open. Their churros are hot and crispy on the outside coated with sugar and cinnamon spice. On the inside, it's soft and a little bitch savory to balance out the sweet outside. Truly delicious. We got a bag for 20 pesos. They taste the best when you eat them hot!

Perfect dessert to get after Pepe's tacos. Delicious fresh and hot churros. 5 pesos a piece. We got 4 for 20 pesos. Yummy cinnamon and sugar. These are great and hit the spot.

Fresh churros at night. Opens around 6:30. We went to El Carboncito for dinner then here for dessert. 5 pesos per churros. Loved watching them make and cut them. Delicious.

Don Julio & his wife, Patti run this stand. Open about 6-10pm, 3 pesos per each or 60 pesos for the whole ring. They are hot, they are sweet, they are crunchy and they are highly addictive so you have been warned.

This is the best churro I've ever had in my life. I did not invite churros could be this delicious. All this time... 30 years spending my life thinking churros did not taste that good. Opting out of churros. I had probably 5-7 churros in my life because it just didn't seem that tasty. This one spot changed my life about churros. How crispy? How sweet? Savory? Hot? All at same time!?! So good.

The best churros I ever had!! They open 6pm till 11pm friendly owners always happy to see them I've gone there 3 times in my trip and still thinking about how crispy and light they were!!! Yummmm

Having tried both churro stands- this one up north and the other one in the RZ (fine)- and the little restaurant that sells churros in the RZ (pretty but overpriced), my resounding BEST CHURRO IN PV! vote lands here. $3 pesos each. Relatively new to churros, my previous experiences all involved topping with Hershey's Chocolate syrup. Which I was skeptical about... but then determined that on top of churros might be the only place where that banal, says-it's-chocolate-but-it's-really-just-brown-sugary-junk *makes sense and adds value.* Thus conditioned, I was a bit bummed that they didn't have any chocolate syrup at churro stand #2. But then you eat a proper churro. And you understand that syrup is not necessary. Maybe it's like eating pizza in Italy for the first time, in which your fundamental understanding of pizza is resoundingly shifted? And you realize you don't need or want to add a pound of parmesan cheese crumbles to it? (I don't know. That personal food revolution is still on my bucket list.) My internal machinations when I moved to a new Airbnb very close to this churro stand, rather than nearly 2 miles away, as I was for my first 12 days in PV have been as follows: "Me, now: just because you live 3 blocks from the best churros ever doesn't mean you have to eat churros EVERY day Me, at some far off future time when I am back in a churro wasteland: wtf why didn't you eat those heaven sticks every damned day? Wtf was wrong with you?! Now look! You have zero churros! And you are so sad! Plus you're extra sad for all those days you could have had churros but just... DIDN'T! AND NOW YOU CAN'T. Me, now: buck up, Pleasure Captain. You got some hot crispy sugar sticks to eat. "

Deeelicios! They will deliver to your car if you pull up close!! Crispy on the outside coated with cinnamon sugar they are hot and fresh!

Best churros I've ever had. Unbelievably light crispness on the outside, soft and tender yet with the perfect chewy bite-back (you know, when you bite something and it bites you back with resistance instead of just giving way), finished with a light, not-too-sweet dusting of sugar and cinnamon. One of the things I miss most about PV.

AKA Julio's Churros is all you want in a churro stand. I mean this literally. You see the whole operation, and the operation is beautifully simple and modest. As far as the churros go they were hot and perfectly sweet. I cannot love this churro stand any more. I could go on, but I would just repeat what other yelpers have said before me. Go get your churros at Julio and his wife.

This couple who runs this stand is a godsend. It's incredible to watch them make churros, and it's so cheap. $10 pesos for one bag, which comes with 4 links. Piping hot, delicious, I'm still thinking about them!

So good - kids loved it. Nothing better than fresh made hot crunchy churros for after some tacos. We got 2 rings and demolished them in 5 minutes. Super nice couple under a blue tent.

I freaking love this family and their churros! They come Tuesday nights for sure, at 6pm behind Ley's grocery store. They set up with a propane tank, hot oil and fresh churro dough, so keep a look out as it's not a full stand or food truck. The churros are as fresh as you can get, and cheap cheap cheap! I got 10 sticks for only 25 pesos last time! If you live in PV or are just visiting, definitely make a quick stop for some crispy, sugary goodness!

If you are staying in the centro of Vallarta or don't want to make the trek to the romantic zone churro stand this is another option. The stand operates behind the supermarket Ley on the corner calle Uruguay and Calle Peru. Times are Inexact given that this is a street vendor but they operate only in the evenings from 5pm on. Churros cost 2 pesos per 6 inch piece of churro. Surprisingly there is not many churro options in town so this hit the spot. I walked over several times on my trip. Pro tip: have dinner at Pepe's tacos two blocks away then come get dessert here

Best Churros on the planet! We come here every year just to get these little pieces of heaven. From what we understand, this is a multigenerational churro stand and the recipe has been in the family for years. Don't miss out if you are in Vallarta.

My son said this was the best churro he's ever eaten. That after eating these fresh, crispy churros, it has ruined his idea of dessert forever, because none other will ever compare. He will remember these churros forever. 10 pesos a bag. Tiny corner stand that you could miss if you didn't know it was there. So, don't miss it.

Hands down fantastic. If you are looking for tasty, authentic churros, very worth a stop. On the corner at Calle Uruguay set up at a card table. You know it is great when locals are pulling up in their cars and grabbing some to go.

Oh my gosh. Seriously the best churros I've ever had. So crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was 20 pesos for a bag of 8 pieces (each about 8in. long). It's located on the corner right behind Ley's grocery store. So many locals were there so you know it's good. Seriously, do not miss this place--we are planning on coming back every day during our stay in one of the resorts. YUM!

These churros are slap yo mama good. I tried every street churro I could find in Puerto Vallarta and these are the best. They pack up by 10 pm and speak no English but these are delicious. Behind the Ley's grocery store at the corner of Calle Peru and Uruguay. Might show as Julio's Churros on google maps app.

We went on a food tour a few years ago, and this place was one of the stops. This was our first time having churros ever, and they are heaven! After visiting, I was excited to see that our local Costco had them, but I was so disappointed - theirs are nowhere near like the authentic ones. We've been back to Puerto Vallarta twice, and made a point to go to the stand multiple times a visit.

These are the best churros I've ever had. They are crispy and melt in your mouth good, and we got to watch them make them. The woman there told me they are there daily from 5pm to 10pm. They were 10 pesos for small 4 inch pieces when I went.

It's just churros. Nothing fancy or worth going out of your way for. We found them on the corner next to San Luiz church, just up the street from Pancho's Tacos.

This guy was recommended to me from my tour guide. I think it's hard to say if someone has THE BEST churros. As long as it's warm, crunchy, covered in sugar, and gooey in the middle, you can't go wrong. This dude/lady combo does not disappoint. They are there only after 6ish.

The very best Churros made by grandma! Worth the cab ride over just to get them! 4 for $10 pesos is a steal!
