Google
I won’t recommend this restaurant. This was my first time ordering from the restaurant and while I am not big on portion ,their portion were too small and wasn’t worth the price. The flavors tasted more ketchup and sweet than your regular scallion, thyme, pepper etc . Finally, there was a piece of plastic in my food . Unacceptable!

Google
The food is mediocre at best. I had the jerk chicken and rice with cabbage slaw. The chicken had random bits of bone and was mostly bits of the bird vs whole pieces of chicken. The rice was blown out and ill cooked. I also had a pattie and it was middling. The coco bread ...it was a travesty. Could have been a whole lot better and pleasant if the food was cooked and served properly.

Google
The restaurant is located within a plaza off of the 53rd/Lexington Ave. metro station. The food was good, but overpriced for the portion size. I had the oxtail stew with white rice and it was fresh and flavorful with the oxtails falling of the bone. However, I was expecting the stew to be a tad bit spicy. They also serve Jamaican rum punch as well as other frozen drinks. Service was excellent.

Google
This is the only consistent Caribbean restaurant in Manhattan. Trust me, I’ve tried almost all of them. It’s pricey but honestly with this consistent quality I absolutely don’t mind. The food is delicious, and always fresh. If I could afford to order from them everyday I would. I really pray and hope their quality doesn’t change over time because this is my favorite Jamaican spot.

Google
Ordered the Jerk Chicken with rice and peas. The flavor was awesome but it was more like bones with rice and peas. For $20 it was a really bad portion size and very disappointing. Surprised whoever put the dish together thought it was an acceptable serving size. This was my first time there and I will not go back with so many other options in the area.

Google
As someone that has been going to Jamaica 2 or 3 times per year for 35 years, I can tell you the Jerk Chicken is some of the best that I have had. I look forward to trying the oxtail stew. Highly recommended. Great Jamaican staff. Ya Mon. Irie!

Google
Amazing authentic Jamaican cuisine. Went there for mothers day brunch, the jerk salmon is to DIE FOR 😋. The fritters and the sweet plantain. Were Amazing. Must go, I will definitely be back.

Google
Flavor of the food is very tasty. Love the flavors but I paid $13 for a very small portion of jerk chicken. It wasn’t very filling. Their rum punch is also very good

Yelp
Jumieka is worth more than 5 stars! Service is super friendly and kind. Food is absolutely delicious. Located at The Hugh so you will never have to worry about where to sit to enjoy your food. AMAZING everything and I highly recommend this place! Will definitely return again and again and again.

Yelp
Jumieka is located inside of the Hugh. I ordered the Curry Goat and was a bit disappointed by the taste/quality of the food. There were many bits of small bones, big bones, inedible cut up bay leaves (as opposed to whole bay leaves which are easier to pick out), sticks, huge pieces of fat and tendons...there was less sauce than I wanted and more rice than meat. The spice and flavor in general was very mild - I had some amazing goat curry recently and wanted to try Jumieka's, but it just wasn't hitting the spot for me.

Yelp
Went to The Hugh to pick up some food and decided to give Jumieka a try. Ordered the Jerk Chicken with rice & peas and it was pretty darn good. The chicken was super moist and flavorful. At $18 the price is a little steep, but you do get a good amount of chicken. My only regret is that I should've asked for extra jerk sauce because they don't give you much and the rice was a bit dry.
google avatar

Jennie K.

Yelp
Overall I thought everything was pretty good! Well cooked and the sauce had a good kick. I wish the dish ratio was a bit better (there was a bit too much rice and not enough meat). It wasn't too busy when we went for dinner and the service was pretty quick! The Hugh is a very nice place to sit and eat, we really enjoyed it.

Yelp
This is a solid spot I love the Caribbean vibe they got going on. There's a lot of different cultures in this food hall and this is a great addition. I love the Jerk Chicken Burrito. That's my go to dish. My mom had me try it and it's the bomb. I love the presentation of it. With all the sauces on top. Inside it's loaded with rice & peas, cabbage, and jerk chicken. Service is on point. I just wish they added a little more jerk chicken in there.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
Was walking around the food court in The Hugh, I stumbled upon this Jamaican vendor, which advertised that they're known for their Jerk Burrito, so I ended up ordering the Jerk Burrito with Chicken ($17). Overall it's not bad. You need to eat it with a fork and knife as they put sauce on top of the burrito.
google avatar

Ronni S.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I both really enjoyed our jerk fish burritos for lunch. The fish was perfectly cooked and it had just the right amount of seasoning. The burrito was light and fluffy and in addition to the fish, it included rice, beans and cabbage inside. The waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I absolutely love West Indian food. In particular I am a fiend for curry, and can frequently be found walking around with a couple of tumeric-stained fingertips from eating roti with my hands. On island vacations, most of my memorable favorite meals have come not from fancy restaurants or resorts, but from beach huts and roadside patty shops. I had the curry chicken plate from Jumieka for lunch today, and it give exactly those vibes. The chicken is a mix of large pieces of white and dark meat, moist with some fattiness, exactly what you want in a curry. (None of those dry/processed white meat strips here.) The curry sauce itself was super flavorful but maybe slightly (forgivably) over salted. The small bit of slaw on top was perfect; I found myself wishing there was a little more. And the white rice was so fluffy- but next time I will try the rice and peas. The service was quick and pleasant, and the music is great. Will be back for some goat!

Yelp
Tasty. Stopped by The Hugh to check out the restaurants and got the beef patty and chicken roti wrap. Beef patty hit the spot (and is a great snack size) and so did the plantains that came with the wrap, but the wrap was a little salty for my taste. Would def come again to try the jerk chicken, oxtail, and speciality drinks!

Yelp
Located in the Hugh Food Hall along with many other restaurants, I hadn't actually planned on eating here. However, a half hour past when my chosen restaurant was supposed to open, they said it would be another half hour. So after wandering, the inviting scents lured me toward Jumieka. The staff was incredibly friendly. From the woman that took my order to the gentleman that were preparing more food for the day and singing along to the reggae music playing and came over to "cheer" with our beverages, it was a great atmosphere. I only ordered a beef patty and a drink, but I was very happy with the flavor and the spice level. It's a favorite treat of mine and theirs didn't disappoint. At $6, it was enough to fill me up for the time and I think a great deal. I chose to sit at their bar which looks into the kitchen. I really enjoyed watching them prepare more food and as mentioned above watch them singing alone to the music, they clearly enjoy what they do. They also have a couple dedicated tables right behind the bar seating and of course the main Food Hall seating is an option if they are full. Looking forward to trying more on their menu in the future, just seeing it cooked and smelling everything had me wanting more!

Yelp
I usually love eating here but today I decided to order lunch via uber eats. I ordered a jerk chicken burrito and one beef patty. I took out the beef patty out of the bag first and there was a hair sitting right on top of the package! I was so disgusted because why is there a hair strand right on top of the bag. Then I proceeded to take out the burrito and dissemble it because now I'm very annoyed - 2 hair strands found inside of it!!!!! Please, pleaseeeee who ever prepares the food here be mindful of your hair. I truly can't believe I found 3 hair strands in and on my food; wasted food.

Yelp
03/06/23: Saw this on IG and added to my list to check it out. This is located in a food court type establishment called the Hugh. It literally is next to where I had a doctors appointment talk about food gods answering your prayers. As I entered the Hugh and walked down the stairs I pondered which way to go but low and behold took the right path and as I round the corner the reggae music vibes assaulted me. Scoooore. Reviewed their menu and decided to try the Jerkito Burrito. Really wanted the fish but chose chicken as the scent of fish wouldn't go over well in office setting.. lol. Asked if it was spicy she said a bit also ordered the jerk wings. While waiting I sampled their frozen rum punch. My good friends Wray n Nephew are definitely present. Would return for a real size drink. Sooo the jerk burrito..it's huge and heavily stuffed with rice and peas meat and think some form of coke slaw. It was definitely well seasoned and delicious my only complaint I barely tasted any jerk. As Jamaican I love my spice no where near real jerk but I get it they have to tone it down for the masses. I ate half and had the other half at home for dinner. Same for the "jerk wings" as least the burrito had some jerk spice and a kick these wings taste like bbq chicken. Still tasty but when I see jerk chicken I expect some form of spicyness. As I waited vibed with some of the workers singing old school tunes. It definitely is a nice spot and would definitely return.

Yelp
The Hugh is slept on as one of the best upscale food halls in the city. To be fair, it's really hard to keep track of all of them, but this is one of the most gorgeous spaces, and filled with some of the best food vendors to boot. They count the amazing handroll spot Kazu Nori and bakery Mah Ze Dahr among their restaurants so you know the eateries are curated very well. The many options made it hard to choose, but I wanted punchy, in your face flavors, so the Caribbean menu at Jumeika drew me in. As with all food halls, the prices feel pretty exorbitant. I paid $25 for the jerk salmon I ordered, which came with rice & peas. I guess in 2022 that's what you pay for a casual, take out lunch these days. The salmon fillet portion was quite large though and the flavors were on point so I wasn't mad at it. I didn't realize what coco bread was and thought it was a sweet treat and was a little disappointed when I went to pick one up for dessert and found it was just a piece of bread. Photos on the menu would be a welcome addition!

Yelp
Food: Everything was good, until I had the chicken. It had blood in it, and I was quite sad about it. I took it home and finished cooking it, but wished I didn't have to. Their seasoning is great- truly. They just need more quality control, especially w the chicken. Can't say anything about the rest of the dishes because I have not tried them. Service: Good. Ambiance: It is a little pick up spot, so not too much of an ambiance. It is surrounded by other restaurants so a little crowded during peak times.

Yelp
Reliable jerk options in midtown. Unimpressed with burrito. Too much creamy sauce but jerk rice dishes are okay. Priced for mid town crowd. Fast service

Yelp
I was coming from a doctors appointment in the area and decided to stop by The Hugh which is a newly designed food hall with 16 restaurants and bars in Midtown Manhattan. I took a quick walk around to see what my taste buds were interested in and found Jumieka. I was skeptical to try it because Jamaican food in these type of commercial spaces typically isn't good or authentic but I was wrong! Jumieka showed up & showed out! Oxtails nowadays are super expensive but I got them anyway and I'm happy that I did because they were absolutely delicious. They weren't fatty, they were seasoned nicely, and was falling off the bone. Everything tasted authentic down to the coconut rum punch. I wanted to get a second drink but I probably would have forgotten where I lived after the second one because that rum was rumming. It was strong, creamy and yummy. I hate leaving negative reviews and I'm so glad I didn't have to. The food, drinks, and music was a total vibe! I might book me a trip to Jamaica just because..... Everything was great! Yelp
Great spot in The Hugh for lunch. Jamaican food. Like a home cooked meal. Delicious crusted fish. Friendly staff. Welcome to Jamaica! Will definitely return.

Yelp
Super tender chicken, dark meat, fall of the bone. But although the chicken was cooked perfectly, I feel like it was lacking a little in spices. The sauce was nice to add on, but I still felt like it was missing a dimension. Decent portions though!
google avatar

Sunny L.

Yelp
Try their Jerk Chicken & Jerk Salmon plates. They are to die for. You f I do not eat one of the dishes in a monthly basis at minimum, I can't go to sleep, lol. It's that good. Highly, wholeheartedly, recommend!
google avatar

Stacie J.

Yelp
Jumieka was recommended to me by coaches from the nearby gym so I had to try them out! I placed a to-go order of one beef patty, jerk chicken platter that comes with rice/peas, and a rum punch. The beef patty wasn't spicy, flaky crust, light on the fill, yet flavorful. The jerk chicken comes with jerk sauce on the side and it has some kick so before aimlessly pouring on chicken try a taste test first. Food wise only I would've given four stars. The rum punch is the reason for a five star review. You have the option between regular or coconut flavor; regular is suppose to be stronger. I only took a few sips so far and OMG it tasted amazing! Waiting until the PM to enjoy.
google avatar

Joseph D.

Yelp
I ordered the jerk chicken and a beef patty. The jerk chicken portion is quite small for the price. I expected more chicken to be served. So if you want a bang for your buck then this might not be the right place. The chicken flavor reminded me a lot of barbecue chicken. I think it could have used more spice and savory flavors to differentiate it from a traditional barbecue chicken. The beef patties were pretty good though, and I would come back again to satiate a beef patty craving. The dough is golden, flaky, and the filling is tasty and spiced. I would say that my review is more like 3.5, but I decided to round up because I would come back to order the beef patties again.
google avatar

Rithvik N.

Yelp
Got some patties and they were delicious, but the standout part of the experience was the kindness I received from the cashier/POS staff!!! It was a lovely reminder how kindness and empathy trumps any other superficial experience. Made the food even more enjoyable! Thank you!
google avatar

Stephen Z.

Yelp
I was pretty excited to try this place, and decided to break my fast early to eat here. Ordered beef patty and oxtail stew. Over $31 dollar, which honestly is not bad for midtown as long it's good. After waiting more than half hour, one of the lady finally ask me what I'm waiting on....... Like seriously.. after 10 more minutes, they finally pass me the food. The guy at least said sorry. I actually don't mind as long the food is good. But the food was seriously disappointing. Small portion of oxtail, cold rice and peas. Beef patty was ok. Not worth it. Staffs seem completely overwhelmed and confused whole time I was there. Might give them another shot, maybe just an off day.

Lawrence M.

Yelp
I was at the Jumieka Grand on 38th and Alex and it was great. The lamb chops were phenomenal!!! I had chicken wings and beef patties for appetizers and they were amazing!!! The staff were polite and quick to please and the drinks were incredible.

Ernest L.

Yelp
Arrived at 6:10 pm Ordered cod fish fritters and ox tails stew Left at 6:50 never received food Totally unacceptable----ESPECIALLY when I was only customer
google avatar

Danan R.

Yelp
Very solid jerk chicken that is tender, flavorful, and juicy. All served over perfectly seasoned rice and beans. The portions are not huge but the food is quite good and they re also on Ubereats which makes it convenient. Will be back!
google avatar

Lei G.

Yelp
Had a patties craving to fill and read the great reviews for Jumieka NYC so had to stop in. Got a beef & vegetable patty. They were fantastic so flavorful and satisfying. And it was in The Hugh which was cool - gotta love a good food hall.

Judy M.

Yelp
Food is sooooooo good and flavorful! Reasonably priced for the portion for the chicken. Beef patties are $9, kinda pricey but delicious and decent size! Additional Gravy was also provided on the side for the chicken. Would highly recommend!

Tavares M.

Yelp
The food was better than expected. Portion size could be bigger. Peas and rice were cooked to perfection.
google avatar

Paul P.

Yelp
Beware: the menu prices are wrong. Kale salad with chicken is listed as $17 on the very visible menu. I paid $20 + tax. If you've got the corporate card, who's watching, right? The jerk chicken is sad and underwhelming (yes, I know, I shouldn't have ordered salad at a Caribbean joint, but the chicken and jerk sauce are the same). Go to a real Caribbean restaurant, not this Potemkin popup. The Hugh is a beautiful foodcourt but the restaurants are a real mixed bag, mostly not in a good way.
google avatar

Lisa J.

Yelp
I was I was looking for a nice little eatery in the city something Caribbean and it took me a while but I came across this little spot here I ordered off of DoorDash and it came within 20 minutes nice and hot smelled amazing great portion I would definitely recommend this restaurant lovely service delicious food followed exactly what I needed will be ordering again
google avatar

Biru S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite lunch spots in midtown! The food is very high quality, the service is great and they have a nice variety. My favorite thing on the menu is the kale salad with jerk chicken. You can't go wrong with the wraps here either. Bim is a pleasure to work with. :)
google avatar

Hilary B.

Yelp
Food was OK. Fresh but lacked the WOW factor of other Jamaican food I've eaten. Food court atmosphere was nice but noisy. Next time I'll "eat in" to have real forks and plates. Kale salad was...tasty but not authentic. Prefer when niche restaurants stay true to their roots. Oxtail was excellent.
google avatar

Matthew A.

Yelp
Bim brought the vibes, the rum punch brought the rhythm and the oxtail brought me home. Jumieka is a diamond befitting the architectural wonder it's nestled beneath. I will be coming back as much as possible. Cheers and hats off to this team!
google avatar

Victor G.

Yelp
Order: $26 for the chicken jerk entree + a side of plantains Tldr: i personally wouldnt come back, value was iffy and the food was disappointing Jerk: tendons were tough around the bones, but was otherwise a substantial meal for most. Which makes sense given the price Plantains: outside was pretty mushy which was slightly disappointing, but otherwise nothing of note Service/atmosphere: the hugh is beautiful, def would come back. Service itself was inconsequential. Value: good for people that want to be full eating specifically Jamaican food and are willing to pay for it. But otherwise better options are easily all around you
google avatar

Michael O.

Yelp
I've had the oxtail and the Jerkito here and both have been amazing. Definitely a great choice when at the Hugh. The Jerkito is jerk chicken, roti, coleslaw and rice and peas topped with jerk sauce and an aioli that is super unique!
google avatar

Deanna H.

Yelp
I have been searching for the best jerk chicken in the city and I have finally found it! The complexity of the spices and the heat are a perfect combination! The meats falls off the bone cooked to perfection on the grill! Life-changing!
google avatar

Ju J.

Yelp
YYeeeessssssss!!!! Caribbean food in Midtown here we are. Friend of mine's works in the area and told me to come out. Didn't know what I was walking into especially because this is located in the Hugh building. A food court. Definitely a good lot of great options but how dare I pass up my good Caribbean food. Shrimp skewers are absolutely amazing just go ahead and order too. The bartender and the staff are absolutely amazing and kind. Always good for a warm welcomes and a friendly face. After about four drinks with the crew definitely made sure to get a curry goat and oxtail with rice and peas to go home with. (two separate orders great price by the way)
google avatar

Tremaine T.

Yelp
1.Overpriced but I get it due to the location they have higher prices 2. Most importantly the food - The rice was good The chicken! The darn chicken still had blood in i ordered jerk chicken rice peas smh u want real Jamaican food go to Brooklyn or queens this was terrible nothing jerk about the jerk chicken I wouldn't mind the price if the food was good if the chicken was cooked!!
google avatar

Machine O.

Yelp
Ordered from here twice. Buy 1 get 1 free Jerk Chicken plates. Normally $21.00 each that would be too expensive but at $10.50 each you cant go wrong. all 4 plates were consistent. same flavor and same portions. They are a bit skimpy with the chicken but again for the price you cant go wrong.
google avatar

Jennifer Z.

Yelp
Totally the best jerk salmon I've ever had. Perfectly cooked with tender juicy center, it was well paired with the rice and salad. My only only recommendation: its usually a a salad OR rice, but i think for lunch it might feel more balanced if they could offer salad and rice combo.
google avatar

S W.

Yelp
Jerk salmon was delicious, could have used more rice and peas. Try it, you won't be disappointed

Julian J.

Yelp
Jumieka is a revelation. It's served up classic West Indian fare as some inventive twists on classic. Bim assisted me during my visit and was energetic, smiling, and remembered all of the customers' names. This is a great place for lunch as well as a drink after work!
google avatar

Jamila H.

Yelp
This is my new lunch go to spot. The food is delicious. The veggie roti with that house made hot sauce is amazing. Top it off with the coconut rum punch and it's like a mini getaway from the hustle of the day. The whole vibe there is on point.

Tyreek F.

Yelp
They gave me a comical amount of Oxtails. Last time I'll be ordering from this place as there are far better options available.
google avatar

Kat B.

Yelp
The food is great when they have the order correctly. And I have to say these past few months, I have not been going because the wait is annoying. And on a couple of occasions, they did not have my order. Because of these experiences, I will not give them a 5 star. If the staff is better train, it would be a great incentive to return. For food I give them 5 out of 5. Wai time and customer service I give them a 2.
google avatar

Bert R.

Yelp
Great little spot in the Hugh with a HUGE HEART! I've never had a bad vibe picking up food or sitting at the bar in Jumieka. The food is great, I like the oxtail stew and the curry chicken with rice n pea. The beef patty with coco bread is always a must, reminds of a local spot I used to go to in the Bronx in the 90's. The service is always friendly and the setting is pretty intimate. If you work in midtown you should stop by for lunch, you won't be disappointed. RUM PUNCH FOR ALL!!

Jack C.

Yelp
The jerk is so so good, but the salads are one of the absolute worst value and food I've eaten in the city.
google avatar

Kitty W.

Yelp
Wooooow! Expensive for Jamaican food but we are talking about midtown workers central here. Their oxtail is AMAZING! The portion is huge and meat is incredibly juicy and so succulent with the sauce. If you're not a big eater like myself, one portion might actually be able to feed you twice.
