We got two beef patties and two cocoa breads and the total came to $25 with tip. I was wondering why, if the food was already sitting there, it was taking over ten minutes to get our order. The man kept taking new orders in between giving us just two beef patties and two cocoa breads.
I had just come from a doctor’s visit and hadn’t eaten in over fifteen hours, so I tried to tell myself maybe I was just hangry and needed to stay calm and patient. Still, something about the whole situation felt off.
When we finally got our food, I ate mine right away and it was just meh. I was hoping for more, but not expecting much in midtown and that’s exactly what I got, a major letdown. It tasted like a basic beef patty that might impress someone who’s never had an authentic or good one before. Later that night, my stomach felt awful. It was the only thing I’d eaten all day, so there wasn’t much else to blame it on.
My mom saved hers for lunch the next day, or at least she tried to. She said it was so hard it could have cracked a tooth. She honestly believes he gave us old patties and old bread, which might explain the delay when we ordered.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they’re looking for stale food and an upset stomach. Skip this spot and try somewhere else in The Hugh.
