I've been a fan of Junbi when it was Sip Matcha back in LA at Smorgasburg, and to have them here in OC and soon to be in San Diego is a worldwind. (Also, they have a location in Hawaii, can't wait to head back there) Their matcha to me by far the best one, I mean, this is how I get my monthly matcha tin to make it at home. I live in between OC and San Diego, so any chance I get it, I stock up and get a couple of drinks before leaving.
Now this location doesn't have much seating and it's first come, first serve and I see alot of people come in with their laptop to study or do work while have their drink of matcha, seating is limited but there are outside seating in the plaza. Since we got there at 11AM, there were still seating for us to sit and talk for a bit before hitting up a local KBBQ spot in the plaza.
I always get their Matcha drink, no milk, normal sweet and my friend got the Guava Matcha and 10/10.
Now if you wanted to do more, my friend and I head over to the katsu bar, in the same plaza, got a strawberry sando and head back to junbi for the matcha ice cream to make a summer combo and that was delicious. (pssssshhh Joe or David are reading this you should definitely add the matcha rice krispy, the rice ball and rice bowl are hella good.)
The services was fast, we came here on friday exactly at 11am when they open but second customer, ordered on the kiosk and food came out decently as we were not in a rush, just wanted to get our matcha fix before eating kbbq. I got my friends and family hooked on Junbi, so much that my niece who lives in New Jersey got her going to Princeton location.
I love seeing this wonderful company growing and franchising all over United States, and I hope there would be a NYC location in the future. Congrats on the Forbes list by the way!
