I was here just over a year ago and it was Railway Heights Market so I was shocked at the drastic change of the place. The cute playground sets were gone from the lawn, and apparently the only business there is Junction Beer Garden. The stairs that used to lead to the main floor with vendors was roped off and there were clear signs of construction happening up there.
Me and my rather large group of acquaintances were the only people there. The parking lot was bare and for a hot minute, I thought the place was abandoned. Inside, there are a couple pool tables and wide open spaces to stand around and talk. The decor was cute with the grass wall, lighting, and name of the bar on the wall but the main seating area with the high tables was lacking. They only have those lightweight, metal, square stools which are NOT fat friendly. They aren't comfortable and they're awkward af to stay up on with no real place to put your feet. There are other seating areas that are giving lounge vibes, but it was a lot of us so we congregated in the area that could support all of us.
There is a limited food menu. Like TINY. Fries and three different tacos. Dassit! I passed on that and stuck to a drink. I had a winter mule and it was delicious! It had cranberry and thyme and I was hooked.
My biggest complaint is that it was so dang hot! I was sweating so bad and several of my friends mentioned the temperature. It felt like they'd turned the a/c off which is CRAZY to do in Houston with dozens of people in an enclosed space. Hopefully they make some changes because the potential is there.
