Trevor is an incredible hair stylist. He cut my hair in such a precise way that I could tell he genuinely cared. Trevor is excellent with understanding texture and shapes for each hair type. He knows form well and has a gentle touch. He’s also a joy to talk to and really understands and listens to what I need. I love how he is very educated and knows his medium well. Like a true artist and technical expert, he knows his stuff. I found my new stylist and I am so happy and in love with my hair again. Thank you, Trevor!!

I love this place! Katie Rose is a Genius with curly hair! I HIGHLY recommend her if you have trouble finding a hairdresser who truly understands curly hair. She did my color too and it's FABULOUS! So natural looking and the shampoo she gives is the BEST! The salon is clean and the products are awesome! I have found the PERFECT HAIR SALON❤❤❤❤

Called around salons in SF to get a same day appt and Amy had a cancellation and was able to squeeze me in! She was very friendly and listened to my ideas for a big haircut change and had great input. I definitely recommend her for cuts and will likely go back in the near future for highlites. I'm very happy with my cut.

I had an appointment to color my hair today with Nicole. I have been coloring my hair at home for 25+ years and that is all behind me now. Nicole was easy going, knowledgeable, personable and a breath of fresh air!! Everyone at Jungle Red was friendly and the salon had a welcoming and relaxed vibe. I will definitely be seeing Nicole again when my roots need a touch-up and I may even be adventurous and add in a second color. Thanks Nicole for making my experience so awesome!

Stefano has been cutting my husband's hair for a year now! And I have loved all of his hair cuts. I trust Stefano with my husband luxurious locks and Stefano knows how to give a flattering cut / style! He was a no brainer choice for his wedding hair cut as well as his best man's hair and shave. I was seeking a colorist who could help me get my blonde highlights on the in summer and some crazy colors throughout the year. When salons opened back up in SF I decided it was best to stick close to home. I've been buying hair product at jungle red for years and they were friendly folks so I figured I'd check out their work online. Right away I gravitated to Jen and booked an appointment. Not only was all the safety protocol followed (it was only me, Jen and one other client and stylist across the room and we had masks, hands washed, temps checked, etc) but I was blown away by the service. Jen was lovely and VERY thoughtful in selecting colors, explaining her thought process but also knowing when I wanted her to take charge because honestly, she knows what's she's doing so I trusted! It was truly a luxury to have someone else wash and take care of my hair after so many months of lock down. I felt safe and like I was treating myself to something truly indulgent! I love how my hair turned out and I can't wait until salon's open back up AGAIN so I can return to see Jen again.

This is my go to hair salon, I've been going to them for about 10 years or more now. Never have I ever had a bad experience. It has it all - Great staff, beautiful decor, welcoming environment! Ask for Amy! She's great at explaining everything she's going to do with your hair and very knowledgeable.. I loved my color Amy gave me it was a hint of cinnoman and I loved it. Over all this salon was really clean. I definitely recommend this place to people in SF.

Not only did I get a cut and color, I got a whole new look! You can even say I feel like a brand new girl thanks to Jungle Red. As painful as it was to load the before and after pics, the end result is so different! I was recommended to Jenn after she cut my sister's hair. I loved my sisters cut and needed to chop off a couple inches. I wanted to do something different and go darker than I have ever been. The more pictures I looked at the more I knew it would work for me. I love my new deep brown hair and my hair feels incredibly soft and healthy. The products they use are huffable, they smell so incredible. You would never think that after a color - your hair would be this fragrant. It's that new hair smell. I've been here now twice, the first for a blow out and now for my cut and color. You can bet that I will be back in the spring for some fun highlights.

My friend From beauty school, Amy Rae works here. She is such a talented individual, and really great at cuts. The salon is located in the Castro neighbor in 18th. The salon seats 6, and has a cozy ambiance. They sell great products such as Davines, and B&B. Yelp friends I guarantee you will love it here!!!

When I walked in 9 months ago for a root touch up, while my old stylist was on vacation, I did not expect to be switching salons. I've had Amy, Katie & Lucas all do my hair perfectly. Then I finally decided to try out a haircut with Lucas & I was over the moon. I have dark hair & he does my cuts & highlights. I've never had such an amazing color for my highlights & each color was blended perfectly with the next. He's gifted. Actually all the stylists are gifted. I go in every 3 weeks & sit in a chair watching everyone work. I'm always blown away. I would recommend them highly.

Yesterday was my first time at Jungle Red. Everyone was very welcoming and kind upon my arrival. I had previously made an appointment, and I waited less than 2-3 minutes before getting instructions for putting on a smock and getting my hair washed. My appointment was with Jennifer. I appreciate her skill and understanding when executing my hair cut. To be very honest I didn't have much of an idea what I wanted my final look to be, I just asked for 2-3 things that I wished to see different. I walked out a very happy camper and love my style. Today was the true test, I washed my hair and applied the product I bought, and I still love the look! Thanks Jennifer and thanks Jungle Red!

I am exceptionally picky about my hair. When I was in college, I drove 2 hours to get my haircut (I know it was extreme). So when I decided to change my hair and go soulless--I begin my journey to find a place that could pull off a realistic ginger transformation. Weeks of polling and endlessly questioning almost drove away all my friends, coworkers and acquaintances, but I was rewarded with the solution: Jungle Red. Contacting Jungle Red and setting up an appointment was one of the easiest things I have done in my life. Lucas was able to squeeze me in with one of their stylist, Katie Rose, and I was able to send in some reference photos beforehand to ensure we all were on the same page. Walking in from the castro streets, I was immediately greeting by Lucas and was politely seated while the staff fetched the other half of my ginger dream team. Katie was completely down-to-earth and we went over my reference photos along with their swatches to come up with a rad color combo. Initially when looking at the swatches I was drawn to the brightest color, but she was able to kindly suggest that chucky red wouldnt match so well with what I was going for--extremely grateful for her advice. Having virgin hair, I was completely new to the process and she patiently explained everything that was going on. We decided to add a few highlights to give my color more depth, and then continued on with the rest of the transformation. A quick rinse, and BOOM--I became part of the ginger army. Couldn't believe how natural we got the red to look. Everyone at Jungle Red was completely professional and polite. Throughout the whole process from start to end, I felt completely relaxed and I am extremely happy with the results.

I took a risk with Lucas and oh my wow is he an amazing colorist. We had a vision together and boy, did he deliver! I love my hair, and am happy to have someone who is consistent and experienced.

I scheduled an appointment for a haircut with Trevor, an apprentice who's almost done with his training program. He came in on his own time (on his day off)! He even called me to let me know he was behind schedule. When he started looking at my hair, he noticed a few areas where my gray roots were showing. I had highlights and roots done a couple of weeks ago, but the woman who did my hair missed some areas. Trevor immediately offered to color my roots without hesitation! He also gave me great tips on how to take care of my hair. He did a wonderful job on my roots and my haircut. He's absolutely amazing!! I would highly recommend him!!

Amy Rae did a great job on my haircut! I have very thick, temperamental hair. I wanted a cut that would suit my hair because unfortunately it's pretty wild and will not submit or conform to styles I like. Amy Rae saw what direction my hair went in, worked with my monstrous cowlicks AND shaved some sweet designs in it. This haircut definitely suits my personality! It's unique, asymmetrical and easy to maintain. Give Amy Rae some artistic liberty and she will not disappoint!

I fell in love with this place a few years back. The atmosphere is modern yet comfortable. I see Amy for my trims and she always does amazing. She's really knowledgeable and can give you any kind of hair advice you need. Sometimes she even gives me free samples of really good products. 5 stars!

DRAMA! I went here for 8 months and all of my hair cutters got fired during the course. After that I reverted back to my cheapie hair joint down the street - they actually do a better job. Thumbs UP: Bumble & Bumble products. Thumbs DOWN: Unhappy faces on most of the staff.

I have been going to Bambi now for a while and LOVE her....I have lived in "The City" for 8 years now and have never found someone who can cut my hair and deal with the curls..she does an amazing job.....plus she is pretty "easy of the eyes" and hilarious....so to sum it up: great hair cut, awesome stylist, hot and funny...perfection! Just recently moved into the area, and so glad I finally got around to going here - my hair stylist, Bambi, is the BEST. She gave me the best haircut I've gotten in a very long time. I didn't really have to say much - I basically just let her do what she felt was right for my face and lifestyle and my haircut came out beautifully. Not only is Bambi a good hair stylist - but she's also a pleasure to chat with, loads of personality, style, and a passion for what she does. What more can I say but that she's excellent. Highly recommend.

I can't believe it took this long for me to find an amazing salon!! One word. Jennifer. She's freakin amazing! Prior to meeting Jennifer, I ombréd my shoulder length hair in January (black to a brown/orange/chestnut color). After about a month or so, it faded to a kinda brassy/orange color. Jennifer suggested that I go with a caramel blonde color since I didn't want to go too light. She took great care of me and was very detail oriented. She was determined to get the perfect caramel blonde shade we both envisioned. And guess what? She nailed it. She also suggested this really amazing oil to help soothe frizziness and gave me a sample size (btw, I just ordered a full size bottle online cause I love it so much!) I love my hair!! I need to make an appointment for a cut sometime soon.

I used to get my hair done here all the time, but my hairstylist HAD to move to L.A. and leave me to fend for myself. Le sigh...tragic I know. Maricio was the absolute best hairstylist they had, and he always left my hair looking GLAMOROUS! He had a way of making a girl feel like she was the sexiest biatch out there. He was FIERCE! I've gone back to the place a couple of times since he left, but no one seems to do my hair like he did! It's still a pretty decent hair salon, but my locks will never feel the same. If you do go make sure you ask for Andrea, she knows how to make almost anyone look a bit more fabulous! *Make sure you book your appointment waaaay in advance... this chick has become popular : )

I have never written a review about any salon but, after my very disappointing full highlight with Luke, I felt compelled to. I am convinced most stylists do not know what they are doing when it comes to light blondes. I have gone by in person to talk to Luke and have left messages. He refuses to get back to me. He knew upon my departing salon after highlights that I was distressed. I did not tip him. I wanted to wait until my hair was fully dry as to make a full assessment of his bleach job. (yes I prefer bleach to high lift tints) Not only did he leave out the bottom section of my hair, he also did not have the expertise to know where to place highlights. It was the routine sectioning of hair that does not do a good job! Many dark patches of hair untouched with bleach! He was a very nice and gracious to me while sitting in his chair. The fact that he has not gotten back to me after several week, is the reason I am writing this. I had my reservations about him as I could not find one happy customer about his work with blondes. I went to him because the staff recommended him.

First time at Jungle Red. I haven't had a haircut in forever and it was getting a little unruly....to the point where I just hated it and twisted it and tied it up in a bun. I made an appt. to get a cut by Jennifer. My hair is thick and not the traditional "asian" hair texture since I'm hapa. Jennifer was just awesome. She asked me what I was thinking of doing and also how I usually wear and like to wear my hair. Then I asked her what she thought and we were totally on the same page. She was very attentive to my hair and intense. I really felt like she was trying to give me the best and most perfect haircut possible. Gurl cares about her work, ya'll. And I appreciated that. I left feeling & looking fantastic. I'm not the type of girl to regularly visit a salon/stylist, but my next haircut will be @ Jungle Red by Jennifer.

Went and saw Marcie as my first coloring since I've moved to SF. It had been about four months, and Marcie managed to touchup my color and make my hair look great again, perhaps even better then before. When she went to style it, she did something that sort of turned me off at first, but afterwards I am glad she did. She put some Bumble Bee product in my hands and had me put it in my hair. She showed me the proper way to do so. Doing this helped me be able to maintain my curly look daily and easily. I will certainly be going back. She was one of the first stylist that I went to who didn't try to blow our my wavy hair (I hate it when they blow out my hair).

Great hair color! Danielle was my hairdresser and she did such a great job! Very thorough and clean/ natural looking color. She also happens to be a lovely person and very fun to talk to!!! I will be back and am already looking forward to it....! Worth every penny!

Marci - I have super thick hair that is about 80% wavy, but is pretty straight in the front. The waves have appeared in the last 2-3 years, and it's been hard to find someone who knows what to do with them, especially since I also have straight sections. I've had Marci take a shot twice, the first time I was pretty happy with the cut because it started to get the waves into a shape that was manageable. The second time, a few months ago, I ended up wanting to get my hair cut a week later because the layers were cut in such a way that my hair frizzed up even when using product. Being new to wavy hair, I just wasn't sure if it was possible to get it to look cute without straightening it. I recently had my hair cut by another stylist and have been much happier with the way my waves look. I think Marci is skilled, and obviously a ton of people like her, she just wasn't the best fit for my hair.

I really, really love Danielle. It's been a long time since I've had a stylist who I feel "gets me" when I ask her to do something drastic. She's fun and relatable, and has the right intuition when it comes to shape and length. I even referred my co-worker to her and she did a great job - plus, the next time I got my hair cut, she gave me a referral discount :). Everyone here is super friendly and they run a real, professional salon in all the right ways. I'm really happy I found Jungle Red and Danielle :).

I have now had two haircuts with Dani (Bambi) Solsona. I will never go to another stylist as long as Dani is in San Francisco. I have really long hair and had always worn it straight across without any layers. Dani convinced me that I needed more "movement" and put in subtle layers while still maintaining my length. My hair had never looked so fabulous! I went back for my second cut with Dani yesterday, where he increased the variation in the layers and it looks even better than the first time around. He knows so much about the mechanics of hair; from curly to straight, long to short. And as an added bonus he is an absolute delight to spend time with. I cannot recommend him enough.

I have been to Jungle Red on many occasions, actually, including to get my hair cut before my wedding. I have had a variety of different stylists, all of whom always listen to what I want and do their best to make it look as close as I ask. I have extremely difficult hair to work with and I have always left the salon loving my new cut. As for the other employees, I'm not sure about some of the reviews on here because I have never had one person be rude to me EVER. They are always beyond kind and offer me tea or water promptly upon my arrival. I have even had to bring my puppies in from time to time so I didn't have to leave them in the car, and the staff has always been very caring and affectionate toward them. Sarah, who I believe is actually the manager (not the receptionist), is always very kind and attentive to me. I never see an unhappy face in this salon and the customers always appear to be regulars. I highly recommend a hair cut here-I know I will be coming back!

I've been going to Jungle Red the year I've lived in SF. Alandria maintained my copper red color fabulously. She then transitioned me back to my natural brown without issue. She is a great colorist. I recently went to her for my wedding up do, and she did an awesome job. She studied the photo I brought her and did a great job with my unruly hair. It was a beautiful, vintage style that received many compliments. Bambi did my makeup without a test run perfectly. She was very informative and did the makeup perfectly. It looks GREAT in the photos and was very comfortable for me to wear. I would be remiss to leave out Eric who is the friendliest salon manager in town. Thank you for a perfect wedding day, Alandria, Bambi & Eric!

I've been going to Lucas for about 8 years, and as many of you know, I still look 25. While I can only credit Lucas with the above-the-shoulders look, I can say he does a pretty fierce job. San Francisco is the land of 7 million "stylists" and a lot of crappy expensive cuts (self-proclaimed victim for years). It's also the land of crappy cheap cuts that you'll find in the Mission (also a victim, and I live there). Why not get a solid, super styled cut and color from someone who knows his business, loves your hair, and loves mine even more? As an added bonus, Lucas also happens to be hilarious and has this super intense look in his eyes when he styles your hair. Like he sees the end vision and is there to make it happen. #loveit

Been going to Marci since I moved to the bay area in Oct 05. She can reshape my hair every single time no matter how long I lapse going to get a haircut! As for Marci for a nice hair cut and Christy for a nice color (Never had her color my hair since I don't usually have time to spend) but I have seen plenty of her work! Update 01/07: I stopped going to JungleRed and am now going to MaduSalon. Friend recommended I give MaduSalon a try, and I got more compliments on my haircuts from there than I ever did with JungleRed. Sorry JungleRed, I am shallow.

Scott - thanks; this is literally the best cut I have had in years. My hair looks pretty amazing. Like I am super "good-hair" chick now. This is an awesome, modern yet intimate salon and it's all about hair. Really nice personnel. I agree - no hard sell for products. Just plan ahead for parking and you're set.

Lucas did an amazing job with my color. I've been to many stylists and colorist that have all struggled with getting my hair to the color I want. He delivered on exactly what I asked for. If you're willing to be adventurous, he's super creative and makes hair look like art!

Did not have the best experience. I spent a lot of money too. But I gave her the money and won't return. She seemed irritated with my hair saying it was "poorly maintained and weak". Isn't that why I was there? She literally said "...not that i don't want people loving my service but I've done like 5 people's hair today and I'm going crazy. Your hair is taking way too long i need to have my assistant to help blow dry your hair". She tugged and brushed my hair, brushing from top to bottom and I could hear my hair breaking even more. (I was told it should be brushed from bottom to top to reduce breakage? Especially when it's wet?). Then the assistant who was super sweet but seemed pretty new blow dried my hair in the same spot for like 10min which seemed like it was frying it even more. (I thought she said it was weak already...?). The whole time she was quiet and when she spoke she sounded frustrated and complained about my hair quality...I sat there wanting to cry and walk out without paying so bad. I probably should have. But I tried to be understanding of what other people might be going through in their life so I tried to be nice. I've had her as a hairdresser before and she was super nice. I even made her a bracelet of real amethyst and fluorite that matched her hair. I didn't give it to her and ended up giving it to a friend who seemed to appreciate it more. I didn't like the cut this time and didn't want to say anything because I didn't want more of an attitude. She kind of made fun of people like me who like their hair a certain way (where it's a wispy effect) so she cut it straight across. She also said other hurtful things that i will not go into detail about mostly because I think I've written so much.

Alandria cut and colored my hair this afternoon, she was very polite and patient, as she had to dye my hair a second time because the first time the red did not turn out bright enough. Everyone in the salon is very nice and respectful, i would reccomend JungleRed to anyone.

I want my hair salon to be chic but not intimidating, cool but not holier-than-thou, and expert in the ways of scissors and hue. That's exactly what I get at Jungle Red, where I've been getting my curly locks cut and colored for years now. I don't know exactly how many years I've been going to Andrea, but I can sure as heck tell when I look at old photos of myself. There are all the pre-Andrea cringe images of me. How could I have walked around with my hair looking like that? And then there are the photos of me with hair expertly cut by my lady at Jungle Red. What a relief. I've also had my hair colored by Eric, who is as wonderful as other Yelpers say he is. And I feel absolutely in love with their other Eric, who mans the front desk and sets the funny, warm, perfect tone for the whole place. So, yes, five stars, all the way.

I went to another hair salon a few months ago in the Castro and the hair dresser screwed up my hair cut. I was super disappointed and skeptical that anyone would be able to fix it - especially on my tiny budget. Well, I was really happy when I found Jennifer at Jungle Red. She spent a lot of time listening to me and found a way to fix the previous butcher job while giving me the cut I wanted. The only reason why I'm not giving her five stars is because the cut took forever and when she styled it, she gooped on too much product so my hair looked like a grease bowl later in the day. But for a good cut, I'll forgive virtually anything :) The people at the salon were friendly, talkative but not obnoxious. All in all, a really good experience. I'll definitely be going back!

My experience was just "meh". I wish I liked the place more, because it is a great location and they worked with me to get me in asap. The vibe was a little dead though, and I feel like the place was a little pushier than I'm used to when it comes to hair products. I don't like writing bad reviews when I didn't get what I wanted with a cut, because I typically think it is my fault for poorly communicating my desires. That said, I'm really not sure what my stylist was going for. Edgy maybe? Lets just say I'd always recommend taking a picture in when you're trying a new stylist.

So I have to say I think Danielle is the best hair stylist I have ever been to, me and my partner joe both go to her to get our hair done and she always does a fabulous job! She is always very friendly and does exactly what we ask so we alway leave looking amazing ;-P Plus the salon is really cute and clean and its in a very convenient location. They also carry Bumble & Bumble product which I LOVE xoxo

I've only been there once. But Alandria did a great job with my ultrafine, troubled hair, and 3 weeks later the cut still works and the color looks great. I'd brought a photo with me, and believe it or not she made me look like the girl in the picture. Well, the face not quite... but the haircut, yes. So I'm sticking with Jungle Red. And for this film buff, any place that takes its name from a Joan Crawford movie is ok in my book.
