Jungmun Saekdal Whole Cutlassfish Restaurant

We had the boneless braised hairtail set menu for two, and honestly, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The fish was okay, but considering the glowing reviews this place gets, it felt like it underperformed. The side dishes were below average-limited variety and not particularly tasty. Overall, it was a fairly underwhelming experience compared to what we expected.

Delicious grilled fish set for two. First time tasting this type of fish and it was amazing! Staff were friendly and helped to debone the fish for us :-) Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Jeju!

Came here on a Monday about 215pm, place was pretty empty. We were given a seat very quickly after we arrived. Dishes were served pretty fast and food was well cooked and heated. This inc piping hot fish, crispy kimchi pancake, hot soup and warm rice.

Bad experience. Service was non existent and even with an English menu was end up served just the spicy fish stew when I came all the way here for the grilled long tail fish? Ridiculous service. Overrated with all the “glorious” reviews. Side dishes were blend and meh. Didn’t even bother with a pic. Save yourself and go elsewhere please.

Had a set meal with a whole cutlass fish which was great! Meal came with a grilled fish and marinated raw crab. Was our 1st time eating raw crab. The flesh was super sweet. Recommended to give it a try if you've never before.

So, after watching every Youtuber losing their mind over eating galchi-gui in Jeju, we were determined to try it ourselves. This place had good reviews so we stopped by. While the novelty side of this meal was definitely Instagram-worthy, the fish itself was bland and unmemorable to say the least. There were plenty of side dishes, none of them was special and from what I'm reading, the variety and quality of side dishes are diminishing. This whole experience was a major let down. I'm not sure if it's just the food itself that's overhyped or it's the restaurant's fault but we weren't certainly going to spend another $100+ just to find out. It's a shame. So much for the Youtube hype. Won't be fooled again.

Best fish meal we had for family of 4. Ordered the Saekdal Special for 4 (KRW170k). 2 grilled fishes and 1 braised fish pot. Awesome taste and fish texture. 👍👍
