The Most Fun Queer Spots In LA (Whether You Drink Or Not) - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"From writing workshops to classes about caring for your houseplants, Junior High hosts events for queer folks who actually want to talk to one another. The non-profit art gallery in Glendale is where you can join a book club and try a 50-minute aerial hammock lesson all in the same day. If you’re looking for inclusive queer nightlife, they also host comedy nights, DJ sets, and night markets with clothing vendors from across the country. It’s like a gender-affirming clubhouse where everyone is welcome—check out the calendar on their website for more events coming up. " - Nikko Duren

Went to a Las Primas Production that was going on. Staff was great, the art gallery was terrific, the whole thing was great. Nice place all in all. Parking was a hassel, hey, it IS Hollywood...

Google
i’ve been coming to Junior High for their events for a couple of years now and this place has always felt welcoming and inclusive. We need more community spaces like this!!!

Google
Junior High is an incredible venue. Very clean, organized, well run, and geared toward the LGBT+ community. They hold all kinds of events so check out their schedule and see what you might like to attend!!!

Google
Great place promoting the arts in LA. I enjoyed the Nova Community Arts exhibition

Google
Junior High is a great community space hosting a rotating art gallery and a variety of events throughout the week. Parking around the neighborhood is a bit difficult but you can normally find something a short walk away (free street parking with a 2-3 hour limit during the daytime).

Very cool space and nice people!

Google
One of the best community art spaces in LA hands down! They're doing the most to stay active and promote the artistic community online during this quarantine. I love and miss Junior High. I have been coming here for art shows since I was 13 LOL! I can't wait for them to re-open, once it's safe of course, so I can support them in person again <3

Yelp
This was a really cute space that hosted local musicians--Juliana Chahayed, Jonathan Huber, and Shalfi and Sons for a very intimate show after hours. I really enjoyed their sets and it was super cool browsing through the Junior High merchandise before and after the show! TIP: There are a lot of parking spots directly in front, but it was really packed even for a Thursday evening around 6:30pm.

Yelp
Went to the risograph exhibit at Junior High. Lots of original art from local artists. Junior High is a collaborative community based art space where you can see a variety of visual and performance arts. They also have classes and workshops. While you are there buy your self some art or a tee shirt to support Junior High. Who knows? The art you buy for a song today from a young artist may become the work of tomorrow's master! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Love this new performance venue! My friend had a one-woman show here and everything was great, from the easy parking to the actual space! Will continue so support!

Yelp
Junior High hosts great events and holds a safe space for queer people. They even host an AA meeting which does a huge service to the community!

Yelp
What a special, supportive, inclusive community space! Cool art, cool people, cool books, and all around good vibes. It's rare to have a community space where you're not obligated to buy anything and can just hang out and enjoy. Also, they host pretty fantastic local bands for concerts and I love that.

Yelp
Junior High is a special, special place. Faye is doing an incredible thing here with this communal hub. I've attended art shows and workshops here and each time I come it's been a delight. For the previous reviewer who says this space is only for white feminists, I have to respectfully disagree. Just take a quick scroll through Jr. High's instagram to see events and art shows that are specifically raising UP people of color and others who have been marginalized. Please stay forever, Junior High.

Yelp
Drove by Junior High. Although Junior High is currently closed due to the virus, I still have memories of when it was open and it makes me so happy to reminisce on them. I can't wait for Junior High to be open again! I have been apart of a trio group show in 2017 and hosted a scrunchie workshop in 2019. Once things are safe again, I recommend taking a visit! The Junior High team is truly so sweet and supportive!

Yelp
One of the coolest art spaces in LA! When I walked into Junior High I wanted to buy everything! Faye is one of the nicest human beings on the planet and the events hosted are always so interesting! The aesthetic Is to DIE FOR!!& you can never get enough of this place! The red line metro is so accessible & therefore leaves u no excuse to not visit JUNIOR HIGH!!!

Yelp
Junior High is a valuable, rare gem in the LA artistic community. Faye and all of the wonderful people who work at Junior High are incredibly helpful and friendly. They all have a true passion for helping out their community, and it shows through their inclusive events and their endless support of local talent. Not only is the space positive and welcoming, but their merchandise is badass too! Thank you Faye for creating Junior High and encouraging so many people to follow their passions!

Yelp
White feminists space only. I dislike how there is no diversity and only white visitors always attending to the events. Makes me feel like an outsider and as I do don't belong. This place isn't very inclusive and constantly asking for donations to keep this white space place open.

Yelp
This space fosters a really strong community for artistic expression. They run charity events and give a voice to new and radical ideas, especially those which speak out against the patriarchy and all forms of bigotry. Definitely a breath of fresh air in Hollywood!

Yelp
Love this spot so much. The community it has brought together is one of the most positive I have ever experienced and anyone who is new is treated with respect and openness. It's a gallery with a vast array of art shows, they host classes, and they have an amazing shop up front with stuff made by artists and independent brands. Plus at night there are all sorts of panels and shows. Highly recommend a visit!

Yelp
This place is a gem. It teaches people (including myself) about a lot of things and issues that people should be focusing on more. It's a place for those who feel they do not have a voice to feel safe and heard, and I think it's done nothing but be inclusive. It gives young adults a chance to express themselves artistically in ways that other venues and spaces do not allow. I've seen it be nothing but a positive influence on the people that visit and attend events. It's one of my favorite places in LA and you can tell the owner works really hard to keep everything together and a good space.

Yelp
Junior High is an incredibly dynamic space offering events, exhibitions, and an amazing mini shop featuring local artists! You can see amazing bands, attend a tarot card release, and see a meme show all in one space. Please don't sleep on this or the amazing team of Faye and volunteers that keep it open!

Yelp
A really beautiful special place that's very inclusive. Awesome merch and exhibits from diverse women all over Los Angeles. One of the best art spaces in LA.

Yelp
Without a doubt the best arts space in LA. The variety of events at this place is unparalleled - crafts workshops, author readings, concerts, gallery shows... it's the best!

Yelp
It's a pretty cool place with lots of pink stuff and a sweet pair of neon ovaries. Also Faye is a great person.

Yelp
Really welcoming and friendly environment! Super nice aesthetic and perfect for photos! Their work is amazing!

Delaiah H.

Yelp
A very inclusive and wonderful place. They put on events that support important causes and everyone is welcome! Everyone who works there is very nice and you feel at home as soon as you walk in!

Yelp
Becoming a part of the diverse and uniquely inclusive community that Junior High has helped to foster has been one of the most personally enriching experiences of my life. Faye is an amazing woman and witnessing her develop the space with an eye towards inclusivity and growth has taught me so much about how to pass the mic and try to not put oneself in the spotlight but rather uplift one's community, especially those not given a voice. Being a young jewish filipina and queer artist Junior High has offered me so many opportunities to showcase my work and just feel heard in a space (the art world) that is very often closed off to people like me. This space is the most welcoming place and will always have a special place in my heart. No matter who you are Junior High and the community that exists there is ready to welcome you and learn from your point of view. If you are in LA you should definitely visit and experience the warmth and love Junior High has to offer.
