Guilder Coffee Company - Cully Neighborhood (Formerly Junior's Roasted Coffee)

Came there on Friday 10/3 at noon. Cool blue coffee shop with jazzy vibes. Renovated from an old gas station/mechanic shop. They feature specialty coffees and they roast their own coffee. This is a third wave coffee shop however the barista gal could do a little better on the Cortado and cappuccino that we ordered. But she was nice. A bit too much bubbles and no latte Art. Limited seating but Roomy enough to get work done.

Junior’s is my favorite coffee shop in Portland! The drinks are amazing, the staff is talented and friendly, and the atmosphere makes me want to hang out there all day. They have delicious pastries (including lots of vegan options!), or you can grab a breakfast burrito or biscuits and gravy from one of the on-site food carts and enjoy with your coffee. We love to bring our dogs to hang out on the covered, heated patio. All of the baristas are great, but Amy and Taylor are particular standouts. They always remember my favorite orders! Go visit Junior’s for a cappuccino or seasonal latte and you’ll see why it’s such an awesome addition to the neighborhood.

The switch from juniors to guilder made all the difference. Prior to the switch I gave this place 2 stars, strictly for location. But the new staff and setup is way better. They are always NICE, the coffee is CONSISTENTLY good. It’s what you expect for Portland coffee

Amazing coffee! Also really enjoyed the low key music. Will be back next time we’re in Portland to try the beer and food trucks.

It was good. Servings of coffee were small. Blueberry croissant was really good. Husband asked for his mocha to be very chocolatey. Barista even said “so obscenely chocolate” and we said yes. It was definitely not anywhere close to obscenely chocolate.

Love this new place in our neighborhood! Junior’s serves great coffee and pastries until the early afternoon, then Upright Brewing pours a selection of awesome beers on tap until the evening 🍻👏🏻 can’t wait to hang out on the outdoor tables when it’s warmer, but the inside space is cute and has lots of light

Very cool espresso and coffee shop. We had a decaf oat milk mocha and regular latte. Very very friendly staff and the latte art was awesome. The alternative milks are currently not extra, which is a plus. The inside and outside spaces are really nice to enjoy yourself or visit with friends.

On our last day in Portland, we had a few hours to enjoy before I had to go to the airport. It was morning and thankfully this place popped up nearby that met our needs: coffee shop, food trucks, and brewery taproom. This part of the business is the coffee shop; it was excellent so I bought a bag of beans to bring home. I had hot coffee and iced tea. It was a beautiful sunny day but super cold, so we stayed in the warming area. The lot outside was transformed into an art market as well, lots of families were enjoying the place, as were their pups. The server was friendly and welcoming, making our drinks fast. They have a few options for food nearby too, but we had eaten a large breakfast before so I didn't try anything on this visit.

It seems this is now Guilder! Still open and still good. Such a fun space! We had dirty chai lattes with almond milk and they were delightful, perfectly spicy.

Love the vibe. It's so Portland! Is a gas station that got converted into a coffee shop by day and bar at night. It's a place locals go that tourists don't know about yet. Seasonal lattes are great (citrus spice and spiced pear). Lots of seating options both indoor and outdoors and the design is pretty retro and it makes a chill hang out spot. If you're hungry for brunch, there's good trucks like Pine Street Biscuits and that really amazing Mexican food truck that gives large portions on the same lot

Cute coffee shop! Transformed from a gas station. Great outdoor area on a warm day. Ordered a hot mocha. 7.5/10. Almond croissant was also pretty good.

Something about the lattes here is just better than the rest. Great vibe, the baristas are so chill & seem like people I'd like to hang out with. the food truck pod is cool too and there's a heated covered patio - it used to be a gas station so it's got this big outdoor overhang! Oh and Taylor is an artiste with a latte. See you tomorrow, junior's coffee.

Appealing interior space. I like to couple my coffee order with Mexican food in the same lot and soak up the sun outside. The Shakerato was decent, a bit small for the price. J Vein Caffe on NE Sandy makes a much better version. Service was meh.

Super cool new cafe/taproom concept in the Cully neighborhood! This is a converted gas station. It's a great use of space and an awesome amenity for the neighborhood. Mostly street parking along busy Prescott or 72nd, though I think they have 2 lot spaces technically. In the morning it is Junior's Coffee and at night it is Upright Brewing. There is also a food cart on site. Lots of outdoor seating on picnic tables and small amount indoor seating on stools. It was busy when I swung by ~10am on a Saturday.

Adorable unexpected little coffee shop! We love juniors coffee, so imagine the surprise to see they have a coffee shop for us to frequent?!? It's too cute with its blue hues, garage door and Portland coworking space vibe! With the ~15 people in there, it was getting a bit crowded but everyone had their laptop and seemed nice (heads down). Made me want to grab mine and join in!!!! Also, definitely a plus that it turns into upright brewing in the evening for when your ready to close that MacBook! Coffee was decent. A little steep at $11 for two coffees. But hey, service was good, ambience was cool, it's no capitola but I'll definitely be back. Oh!!!!! And minus one star for absolutely horrific parking situation. It appears they are working on it but at the current time? Zilch!

Junior's is my favorite coffee shop in Portland. The staff is great, the space is comfortable, and most importantly, the drinks are perfect. I go several times a week and am never disappointed.

Guilder's coffee roaster now has their own location! Junior's coffee sells espresso drinks and drip coffee, as well as their own roasted beans. A fun "gas station" concept, they have outdoor seating and an indoor space as well that opens up to the outdoors via a large gate that opens up when the weather is a little warmer. The drinks are absolutely delightful. The drip coffee had delightful blueberry notes, but had a wonderful depth of flavor and round body. We also had the espresso and a latte. The espresso was well extracted and was also very balanced in palate. Paired with oat milk, it was smooth and creamy. Currently no pour over, but they are working on possibly adding Aeropress to the menu, and I am excited to see where this goes! Nevertheless, make sure you talk to the baristas - they are extremely knowledgeable, and will definitely make sure you get something delicious.

Barista was unwelcoming and rude. The coffee wasn't anything special either. Wouldn't recommend.

I like the coffee here and that they have outdoor tables and very good pastries. I think it's queer owned which is nice. But my friends and I feel turned away by this one incredibly surly guy who works there in the morning--handsome, stocky, black, dreadlocks. He responds to inquiries like, why are you asking me this stupid question. Looks like he doesn't want to be there. Grumpy!

My new go-to. Delicious coffee and good vibes (and tunes) in the morning, then beer and such after 3. All beverage needs met!

A nice little coffee bar in an underserved area of Cully. Junior's is sharing the renovated filling station with Upright Brewing and Chaat Wallah (both of which open in 2 weeks). Junior's has excellent coffee, proper espresso drinks, and decent tea. The indoor and outdoor seating are cozy.

I stopped here right after a flight because I was desperate for a latte. Junior's did not disappoint! The latte was perfect, and the staff was super friendly. I absolutely love the space and decor.

I really want you guys to suceed. You're in my neighborhood l! So please: 1) Put a carafe of half and half on the counter, like every other coffee shop in the city. Don't keep it behind the counter, like contraband, and when I ask for "just a bit of cream", don't dump 2 ounces of the stuff in my mug and ruin the whole cup, and then expect me to appreciate it. 2) Buy some raw sugar, or demara and put it on the damn counter. You're charging $4.10 for a cup of coffee. 3) Sell me a refill for fifty cents or a buck like every other coffee shop in the city except maybe Stumptown? I'm not paying $8 plus a tip for two cups of coffee. 4) Don't greet me at the counter with your hungover, surly attitude and crap service, when I and my SO are being very polite and respectful of you.

The space, decor and location are good. But they lose three stars for getting my order wrong the first time and then getting it wrong a second time as well. I drove out of my way to come here. By the time I noticed the order was wrong I didn't feel like driving back. A coffee shop's first job is to make the drink correctly. Or ask if it's not clear. Or at least repeat the order back to the customer so that the customer can correct the order before the barista makes it.

Delicious coffee, cute location, great staff too :) I notice they have a beer area and I want to explore soon! Definitely recommend the mocha.

Excellent artisan coffee. Perfect temperature. Which is so nice. Top notch customer service. Gluten Free goodies. Very clean shop.

What a welcome addition to our neighborhood. My cortado was both delicious and beautiful.

I used to love this coffee shop for its cozy atmosphere and how easy it was to focus there. The coffee's awesome, and it even turns into a taphouse run by Upright Brewing in the afternoons. I used to go there a lot, mostly to study. But a recent experience changed my view. I was there with a friend who ordered coffee. A staff member asked if I wanted anything, and when I declined, told me I wasn't spending enough money on their products and could be kicked out. They claimed to have kept a running tally of my spending per visit, which felt unprofessional. To be clear, most of the staff are wonderful. It was just this one interaction that soured things for me, making it awkward to return.

great outdoor seating with shade, delicious coffee and food, friendly staff with good playlists. met with a friend here on a sunny day and we hope to come back soon.

Cute small coffee shop (shares space with taproom) with a basic but solid coffee menu and baked good selection. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. Great add to the neighborhood!

Espresso was bright and citrusy, milk was perfectly textured, chocolate in the mocha and kids cocoa was delicious and not too sweet, fun new place in Cully! Can't wait to go back for draft beer and Indian food!
