I looked up a place to stop for lunch after landing at JAX and came up with this place… all the reviews were great, which prompted me to give it a try. I got there right as they opened for the day and the ladies working inside were very friendly and helpful in placing my order. I saw pics of their fried shrimp and knew I wanted to try some! But I also wanted to see how they do blackened shrimp, so I got some of that too. And since they raved about their crabcake, I got one of those as well. For sides, I chose their cole slaw and their veggie of the day was lima beans with pork. All this food also came with several hush puppies. Everything I got was great! The fried shrimp was easily my favorite. The crab cake was interesting, as it’s loaded with crab, but they flatten it out, sort of like a smash burger, when flat-topping it. The blackened shrimp could have had more seasoning on it, but it was still wonderful. And those sides were spot on! Those lima beans with pork were incredibly good! Highly recommend stopping in… there’s a reason they have so many great reviews! When I got there, I was the only one inside, but within 15 mins, they were half full. By the time I left, they were nearly packed. Go early!

I’ve lived in Jacksonville my entire life and have recently been to Juniors and I love it. I’ve been there twice now and I love the fried basa sandwich comes with all the toppings plus fries or whatever side you choose and it’s AMAZING. I live maybe 6 minutes away from the restaurant got my food to go and by the time I got home everything was still piping hot like it was fresh out the grease. I appreciate the kindness of all the staff and shoutout to whoever makes the sweet tea! The restaurant is clean and for them to sell seafood there isn’t a fishy smell inside nor does it smell like grease. The drink station was well maintained and the tables were clean as well. Love this restaurant

Exactly what you want in a fast casual dining venue, no frills, great food, great food! The staff was friendly and everyone that walked asked if we needed anything plus the attitude they gave off was one of “I really want to make sure you get everything you need and want”!

Local home grown food joint. First time here but I've been hearing about it for a long time. I think we came just after lunch rush so it wasnt too busy & food did not take long to come out. Service was quick, staff is friendly, seating area was clean.

This is the best seafood restaurant in all of Florida. The people that work here is what makes it so great. The food is perfectly cooked every time.

I was really craving some fish, so I went to Yelp, and this place had decent reviews, so I decided to go there. I wasn't sure if they accepted to go orders on the phone. I went in and placed my order. It did take a few minutes, but hey, it's not fast food. It's being cooked to order. I have to say I was very impressed with how clean the establishment was and also how friendly the employees were when I walked in. Tables were being cleaned, and when my food was ready, it was brought out to me, and the young lady actually opened each container and allowed me to see what was inside. So that way, we both knew I received everything that I paid for. I definitely appreciate that, and it is a sign of excellent service. I ordered the flounder dinner. I had fried green tomatoes as a side and french fries. I was surprised by the portion I was expecting maybe 2 pieces of fish, but it seriously was enough for 2 people to share that meal, and the prices are very reasonable. The star of the dish was the fried green tomatoes. Yum yum yum, perfectly fried, so crispy, where the breading didn't separate when you bit into the tomato, it had a really good flavor and I really wish I would have ordered another side of that. The French fries were so so they could have used some more seasoning. That could be my personal preference. The fish, well, it's perfectly fried, so it was golden brown. Tasted fresh did not taste frozen. The only thing I wish I would have requested for it to be fried hard. I personally like my fish a little bit more crispy. It was a little too soft for my personal preference. I also ordered the key lime pie, which they are known for. it's a different key lime pie, but it had a great taste and a crust. I'm not disappointed that I had it. It was really nice at the end of the meal. Overall, I enjoyed the service. The food was okay. I wasn't unable to finish all the fish and again, these are my personal preferences, I would have preferred a little bit more seasoning on the french fries and the fish to be fried, a little bit harder. Would I go back again? Definitely, I'll try some additional items on the menu. There were quite a few people coming and picking up to go orders. So, I believe you can place an order by calling ahead. Found this gem while passing through. Great food, generous portions, friendly service. You can easily see why it’s a local favorite. Gumbo wasn't traditional but absolutely delicious.

We decided to visit this restaurant because of their $15.99 shrimp special but they discontinued it. The special price is $17.99 The restaurant is located on a well known street "Main Street". They have conjoined breakfast and lunch restaurant. The signs on the building are small and not very eye catching. I almost passed it. The inside was cleaned. You place your order at the counter and then find you a seat. The cashier was very nice and patient as I made my decision. The food was hot and tasted good. The shrimps were an average size. The fries were great. I love crinkle fries. The meal was good for a special.

Located close to the airport, I stopped by for a quick Friday lunch at the end of my work trip. Parking wasn't difficult when I arrived but quickly filled up later with spillover on the grass area. Also be careful not to confuse the restaurant with the sandwich place next door! (same name) I ordered a two item combo at the counter and went with the employee's suggestions of blackened basa and Bam-bam shrimp. For the sides, I went with the Veggies of the day which were the pumpkin casserole and Mac and cheese. The blackened base was seared and seasoned perfectly - star of the dish imo. The Bam-bam shrimp was fried and coated with a mayo-based sauce. Great flavors and textures as well. However the sides were a miss for me. No flavor (not even from the pumpkin) in the pumpkin casserole, and the Mac and cheese was very overcooked, also lacking flavor. I did try some of the fries and those were actually great, so there are some good options when it comes to sides. All things considered, I'd return next time I'm in JAX for the seafood, casual atmosphere, good service, and to try some different sides. Convenient location too!

We have a relationship with the port at Jacksonville, and this morning we had a tour of the port, our material in their warehouse, and the facilities. Our guide recommended Junior's to us for lunch, so we went and headed over. Free parking in their lot up front! It is a "fast-casual style" restaurant, where you order up front and have someone come deliver your food to your table. My 5 colleagues and our tour guide had a pretty decent order. I personally went with a bowl of lobster bisque and the buffalo shrimp meal, which I had fries and corn nuggets as my sides. First of all, the soup was fantastic. Creamy while not being overwhelmed by cream, and flavorful. Comes with two hush puppies which were perfectly crispy and warm and pillowy in the interior. My buffalo shrimp didn't disappoint whatsoever. It was tasty, I felt like it had enough heat to keep you coming back while not being super spicy just because. My corn nuggets and fries were also well fried. Tammy was the person who bussed our table and asked after us. It was a team effort but I didn't ask for any other names sadly. This is a gem of a spot, and I love the broad menu and options available to us! Support small businesses!

First, I need to give a shout out to Tammy, who made us feel like family on our first visit. But it was not just her, we I reacted with a number of the staff here and they all made us feel very welcome. Cheese Grits - we are in the south and these grits are good. Lima Beans - I love Lima beans, I did NOT like these. Really salty with salted pork cubes. Sweet Potato Mash - healthy, delicious Hush Puppies - WOW, love these hush puppies. Fried shrimp - get whatever sides you want, but get the fried shrimp. Lightly battered and fried, so good, really so so good. Grilled shrimp - not much flavor, see my comments on the fried shrimp. Key Lime Pie - came out frozen, but it was pretty good. Out of the normal traffic, but only 8 minutes from Hecksher.

Unassuming place with friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices. We arrived just before it became crowded on Sunday for lunch. The menu is extensive so I recommend reviewing ahead since you order at the counter. They write your order number on your cup and bring your food to the table. Fountain drinks you fill yourself but also staff offer to refill during your meal. Everything we ordered was delicious and anything that was fried tasted like it was fried in separate, clean oil. Golden brown and no residual taste from the fried shrimp, fried catfish, regular fries, sweet potato fries and hush puppies. My stuffed flounder was good, different with the topping but still good. Hidden gem and we will definitely be back!

What a great find this weekend in Junior's Seafood!! Great friendly staff, quick service, casual atmosphere and...from me, a total seafood snob from Md, excellent seafood. The food here rivals and exceeds most that I've had in Jax...anywhere. You order at the counter, they write your order number on your cup and bring it to your table. While you eat, the attentive staff constantly checks on you to see if there's anything you need. Drinks are refillable and they offer a great mix of Pepsi products and tea to choose from. This place is a local favorite and for good reason. It's excellent. Fried food is good. You could say it's tough to mess up but this place takes it next level. You can just tell that they time everything to perfection and use only fresh clean oil. The fires, the fritters, the catfish perfect. The Mac and cheese was simply THE BEST I've had anywhere. The flounder and grilled shrimp my wife ordered were cooked and seasoned well. I'm an Old Bay guy but this was the next best thing I've had and didn't disappoint. Our bill for all of this came to just over $47 and that is amazing given what we ordered and the portions we had. I highly recommend you give this place a try. It's right off 95 and you won't be disappointed.

Food is ALWAYS good! So consistent and that's what I love! On top of that, the prices are reasonable and staff is friendly in a mom-and-pop atmosphere. My family has been eating from here for years. Most of the time we do to-go, but the occasional eat-in visit is always met with good service as well.

I've been hearing about this place and decided to try and I was not impressed. Whole meal lacked seasoning, shrimp were skimpy and just covered in black pepper, green beans tasted like they were just warmed up straight out of the can rice pilaf was different wasn't expecting bell pepper and mushroom but the flavor wasn't bad.. Hush puppies were the best thing on the plate wish I had more of those.. They also have good sweet tea.

The food here, always quite good. However, we are not likely to return. I'm pretty put off when a restaurant can't get their pricing consistent between the online platforms that they participate in and whatever's happening in store, but I'm the type that likes to look at a menu to know that a restaurant is going to be within our budget. I gave this place a try three times by looking at their menu in advance and ordering over the phone only to find out that prices were higher than expected when I went to pay. Please forgive me, but I guess I'm just an incredibly fussy customer wanting to know what things cost. This place isn't expensive, but it's also not cheap. Kinda like a less pretentious New Berlin Oyster House. Location is abysmal.

Awesome local spot someone referred me to near the zoo. Just got a salad since I can never decide and then I noticed they have really good specials. 17 bucks for the dinner special with two sides and a drink. Excellent service and cool people, like someone said you feel at home. Food in the South is all good, the stereotypes don't lie, I'm from California and my old pastor was right they just have better seasonings here. Even this breadstick was fire. I think it's more butter too. Butter is good for you. I'm a health coach so I know what I'm taking about.

The fried shrimp is so good! The green beans are a bit salty for me but the flavor is still good. As always, a good meal is determined by no need for condiments to make food taste good. As usual the service is efficient and I was lucky enough to arrive before the crowd!

Found this gem through feedback from my fellow yelpers. And I have to say they did not get it wrong. Staff were friendly and warm. Portions sizes were large and the fried shrimp was out of this world. The restaurant is nothing fancy but is a great casual place to enjoy Florida's fried seafood. Would highly recommend

Found this place as a locals favorite and it was obvious why. The atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for: down home. This is not the bougiest place but the food and service were OUTSTANDING! We were greeted by a guy behind the counter who offered us free drinks as first-timers. Southern hospitality! We scooped ip menus and sat down to look them over and make decisions. I had the jumbo blackened shrimp meal with applesauce and green beans. It was FINE! My wife had the Junior's 1/2 hamburger, thinking it was a kids size. nope. Half pound burger! It was outstanding! We didnt make it through all of the burger, but I'll tell you it tasted like a burger I had in Texas cooked on a woodfired grill. Amazing. I will be thrilled to go back to Jacksonville and eat here again! (Bonus perk, 8min drive to JAX)!

we came on a monday at 7:30 and had no wait! i got the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and they were very tasty! crispy and a strong cheese pull 8/10. for my meal i got the mahi mahi with grilled shrimp. they were both tasty but the fish was a little dry and the shrimp were smaller than i expected. for my sides i got the fried squash. SO YUMMY 10/10. i also got rice pilaf that was okay 7/10. friend got the fishermans choice of fried catfish and loved it!! would get it again 8/10. we got hush puppies as well that were a little disappointing. too crispy and not enough corn flavor. 7/10. overall service was EXCELLENT and we would go back!

One of our top three favorite seafood restaurants in Jacksonville and Amelia Island. Everything here is good. You can't miss the clam strips, fried shrimp or fried oysters. The vegetables are good. There's quite a large selection of items. They have daily specials. Friendly

Out of the way and not fancy BUT great food. Hush puppies are great and lots of side choices like green beans, salad, grits. We tried the fried oysters, salmon BLT, and shrimp & grits which were all good. Service & friendliness was super.

Was in town for the Jets VS Jags and was looking for a place to eat and this place didn't disappoint ...great seafood and great people

The restaurant is a little hole in the wall which by design is one of my favorites. Came in for my weekly fish consumption and try something new. The place is very clean, doesn't smell like grease from fish fry. Ordered lunch around noon, before everyone started packing in. Got our order with 15 min. Grilled flounder and fried catfish lunch. #delicious

Service was phenomenal! gave us the senior Wednesday discount and we didn't know about it! Saved 25 percent!! It's a quaint and very clean. The food was delicious! The fried catfish melts in your mouth and it the real deal! Blackened salmon was great! The fried pickles kept their batter and shrimp very good. Came in between lunch and dinner and chose the lunch portion of shrimp and fish. My husband chose dinner portion of salmon and was happy. All sides were delicious as well. If you're in town, be sure to eat in or take out. You won't regret it!

Saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to try it, we were not disappointed! First off we were greeted by Emma who brought us a menu to review and told us to go to the counter to order. She discussed her favs and told us about the Basa & shrimp special which came with 2 sided and a drink for $16.99. I got it friend and my husband ordered it blackened. Both were fresh & delicious! The grits & fried corn on the cob were so yummy! We also liked the hush puppies, happy they didn't have onions in them. Emma was definitely the star of the shoe as she constantly checked on us.

Food and service was fantastic. Odd smell first couple of minutes did not notice. We will be back soon.

Very clean and family friendly restaurant! I loved the fish and all the sides. I would definitely recommend this seafood place and not too expensive. The restrooms are clean and did I mention the friendly staff? Amazing place to eat at and not a big chain place that was a god spot to hit.

This place is definitely a hidden gem!! You can tell all the locals know if and they shared what was great!! We chose a combo and the bam bam shrimp!! Great hometown feeling and DELICIOUS FOOD!!

Seems like a family owned business. The staff was very friendly with southern hospitality. Venue gave out free individual hand sanitizer. Wouldn't say it's the best food I've had but the alligator tail(Not pictured) was the best item I had out of all the food it was well seasoned/ tender. The corn nuggets were good. Had dry rubbed chicken lacked flavor alongside the grits.

There are so many amazing things I could say about this restaurant but it would never truly explain how beautiful this place is. From its fun atmosphere and everyone where has a smile on their face and willing to help you in every way imaginable. AND THE PRICES ARE SO REASONABLE! They give amazing portions for what you pay for and the quality of the food is five star!

I got the bam-bam shrimp special for lunch. The shrimp were delicious and cooked perfectly! They had that snap good shrimp get when they are cooked to perfection. Great place! Will return!

Great food! Good prices, good variety on the menu. The Shrimp and grits were good, but their fried Shrimp are always a hit.

Great Mom and Pop restaurant. We had multiple types of shrimp- fried, buffalo style and blackened and all were delicious! So was the blackened fish- and fried oysters- all cooked to perfection. Really good Cole slaw and southern style green beans. What was most impressive was the staff- friendly and attentive. Thank you Ms. Emma and Ms. Tammy! Look forward to coming back here soon!

What a killer place to stop in Jacksonville. Great food and service - lots of people coming in to eat and grab takeout (such a good sign!!!) Loved the food and they had amazing hush puppies

So good. Great little spot near the zoo and probably many other things but we stopped in after a zoo outing. So so worth it. The woman behind the counter was doing everything and keeping it under control! She took our order and served it when it was ready with a smile. I need to start with their tea, which was outstanding!! We all ordered plates of fried goodness. I had the popcorn shrimp and clam strips with fried corn. Yummo. Everything was perfectly fried and did t taste greasy or heavy at all. I'm a big fan of tartar sauce and Juniors is doing it right. Good stuff!

Owner is always in the restaurant and always comes by and speaks to us. Food is excellent. Staff is super friendly. Portions are good. Prices are great.

No frills, but good food. I'd go back. Wait staff was nice. We were grateful to escape the hurricane, and have a nice, hot meal in a friendly place away from home. Seafood fettuccine was the best of all our meals.

Ate at Junior's for the first time one evening before attending the lantern exhibit at the Jacksonville, zoo, and Gardens. We had a fabulous meal. The food was exceedingly fresh and delicious and the service was excellent. I would definitely return.

I heard about this place from my coworker. She ordered shrimp and grits and it looked sooo good. So I had to try them for myself. To-go Order: blackened shrimp and grits without andouille sausages, calamari. Let me start by saying, I've tried many different restaurants' shrimp and grits and many of them are too salty so I was skeptical of ordering. But safe to say the salt level in Juniors' shrimp&grits is on point . The seasoning on the shrimp was flavorful enough that it paired perfectly with the less seasoned grits. The grits was the right amount of cheesy and creamy. The calamari was soggy but it was good. (No point deduction there because we ordered to go and we live ~25 minutes away). Lastly their hushpuppies . I usually hate hush puppies because they're usually doughy but these!!! I don't know how to even describe it. Very good. Overall I will be returning. PS. Would have been nice if they offered fried blue crabs/ more crab items.

Don't be discouraged by area it's in or the small dining room, the southern hospitality, overflowing plates, an the even better prices make this spot a must visit!! I had crab cakes an fried Shrimp combo with fried green tomatoes as a side choice. These crab cakes were huge an hand made that morning an were the best I've eaten. The shrimp were lightly breaded, full of flavor an best of all very tender an not overcooked. My husband is a big shrimp lover an he agreed it was the best he's had in a long time. You order at the counter an then they bring it out to you piping hot, y'all just have to try this place!!

Salmon BLT and the Mahi sandwich were delicious. I recently moved to Jacksonville and have been trying to support local businesses. This was a wonderful find and I left full and happy. I asked the super friendly staff what to get next time and I'll be having the catfish, grits and blackened shrimp.
