If you stumble upon this restaurant because you are a Hotel Vermont guest, you may never be this travel food lucky again, as this a place to purposefully beeline to. With so many tempting dinner items to choose from, we settled on:
Whole Rabbit (for 2) - a delicious, sweet-ish, mildly mole-tasting (cumin, blood orange, smoked paprika glazed) rabbit, served with red wine braised cabbage, refried beans, corn tortillas, spicy green salsa & a chimichurri sauce. Delicious!
The for 2 plates come with very flaky scallion biscuits w/butter, and a lightly sesame-dressed salad of field & baby greens.
For dessert, we had the
Cranberry Custard - topped with a generous amount of thick whipped cream, and a handful of candied whole hazelnuts. Get this! Don't avoid it, cranberry avoiders!
Sorbets - a scoop each of Lime Orgeat & Blueberry were so lightly sweet & refreshing
New to us is a local canned non-alcoholic beverage called Bitter Bubble. We tried both the Sour Cherry Chicory & the Orange Chamomile & loved both. Lightly herby, lightly fruity, & bubbly - this will be on our shopping list from now on.
Everything was so good, we came back for breakfast:
2 eggs, crispy bacon, the bright sesame-dressed salad greens w/radish that we had for dinner, buttered Red Hen toast w/jam. Basic, but elevated w/these excellent local ingredients!
Breakfast Sammich - fresh squishy brioche bun, runny fried egg, that crispy bacon, Vermont cheddar. SUPER GOOD.
Buttermilk pancakes w/wild blueberries - VT maple syrup & soft butter made these over the top delicious.
Super strong Brio coffee & an Earl Grey latte were perfect with it all.
A little bird told us that the Spring menu will be starting around May 8th, so we were lucky to catch these delish bites before they go away. Looking forward to trying other breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner menu items!
