"Hotel Vermont undoubtedly offers Burlington’s most stylish lodging, so it comes as no surprise that its bar and restaurant, Juniper, is equally chic. Take a seat at the copper bar or opt for an Adirondack chair next to the fire pit on the patio. Open for breakfast and dinner, Juniper’s locavore menu offers the kind of comforting food one craves from a hotel, made with the kind of ingredients one expects in Vermont. The poutine, for example, comes topped with Bridport Creamery cheese curds and the roast chicken for two is sourced from Maple Wind Farm and accompanied by leek soubise, beet and potato hash, and herb jus. In addition to an all-natural, locally focused wine list, the drink menu is composed almost entirely of Vermont-made ciders, beers, and spirits, including the property’s very own line of gin. Cocktails keep it classic Vermont, like the Lemon Ginger with Green Mountain organic vodka, ginger syrup, and lemon." - Anna Darrow, Heather Platt

I’ve thought about the turkey on the fondue plate at least once a day since I’ve had it. Looooved the fondue for two ($25 per person and there’s a two person minimum), but the portion sizes could have been heartier. I just want more turkey. 😭 excellent quality though!! I ordered the chicken breast, very good! I could have done without the strange braised cabbage. My husband orders the steak frites and was happy with it. Service was great. Relaxing atmosphere. Bill ended up being just under $150, so a bit pricy. Would come again for the fondue!

Came to this spot bc I looked up foodie spots in VT and so glad I did. Our server Ari was amazing. He knew the menu well and was very helpful. We had Brussels sprouts as an app and cheesesteak sandwiches. Soo delicious - we were so hungry we forgot to take pics. We don’t usually get dessert but Ari just made them sound so delicious we had to have them - yum! I got the honey pie, I wish I had another slice today. My daughter had fresh blueberry sorbet and my other daughter had fresh cookies which we waited for and she said it was worth the wait! Fresh and warm. For that wait Ari gave us chocolate truffles again yum! I took pics of the dessert.

Regretfully, we did not get a chance to enjoy dinner at Juniper while we stayed at Hotel VT, but we did make it in for brunch! Started off with espresso and the Cafe Jalisco (a tequila based espresso cocktail), both which were excellent. I enjoyed their mushroom tartine and my husband enjoyed the hash. Both were wonderful! Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was cozy with a style that is both earthy and modern minimalist. I have also enjoyed a couple rounds of cocktails at the bar on a work trip and certainly recommend their drinks to folks who enjoy a carefully crafted cocktail!

Enjoyed some delightful cocktails here. The bartender was super friendly, and I overheard her giving great advice to someone visiting the region for 10 days. I had a that 7 o’clock hour, and a whiskey sour, which were both concocted perfectly. My date and I sat on the outside patio where we could catch a glimpse of lake Champlain, and it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

Stopped in during a work trip - so good! I actually got the steak for take out - which sounds wild but it was fabulous even once I got back to my room :) cooked to temp, & the broccolini perfectly charred. Also the staff is so helpful - I forgot to grab my receipt for an expense and they scanned it on over to me once I got back home to Pittsburgh. (Thanks guys!!) Also the lighting in here is so chic.

Say hi to Khalani for me. Best server! Experience the outside patio weather permitting. Great vibe! Always good service.

Located in Hotel Vermont. Everyone here was very pleasant. The temperature was rather warm in the restaurant and the food menu limited. The drink menu was quite extensive though. Our server was fine. Food was ok. May come back, but not completely motivated to return. We were celebrating my birthday but that didn't mean anything here. At EB Strong's, it's much better to celebrate a special occasion.

At first, I wasn’t sure what to think about this small lobby restaurant in Hotel Vermont. But as I got deeper into the meal, I really enjoyed it. The Mai Tom cocktail made with both gin and rum was excellent. The charcuterie and cheese plate, which they kindly subbed out the blue cheese, was huge. There was so much meat on the plate we couldn’t finish it. Next we had the shrimp toast with fiddleheads. Both the toast and the fiddleheads were exceptional. Finally, for dessert, at the recommendation of our server we had the rhum cake. Not too boozy (good for some but I like boozy) and came served with an unusual, but awesome molasses caramel. Highly recommended! They have their own private label gin, a barrel selection of Tom Cat from Barr Hill. It’s very nice and a little more boozy than the Tom Cat you would buy at the liquor store. As I already told you, I like boozy. Our server was excellent to us and so was the bartender when I went back for one last round just before closing. The room is stylish, like the hotel. Well worth a try.

Yelp
My daughter invited me to Burlington for the weekend and we stayed at Vermont Hotel. Juniper Bar and Restaurant was located inside the establishment. After a day out in the cold and Christmas shopping our hunger for some warm and delicious food had increased. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food. The cheese fritters and cheeseburger were prepared well and tasted awesome . Definitely hit the spot ! The ladies behind the bar were very friendly , knowledgeable and talented with their skills of tossing , shaking and pouring drinks.

Yelp
Got tea with maple syrup-- they put in a lot of maple syrup... I suppose this is a good thing. Was left uncomfortably crunching on loose leaf tea at the top. Not at all appetizing. Got the mushroom ragout, which was basically just toast with cheese and mushroom on it. Not at all special and sort of misleading on the menu. Asked for eggs on the side which they did do. Asked for eggs poached and they were rubbery and fully cooked through. NO run. Pictured. We got the home fries and asked for hollandaise on the side. They forgot the hollandaise and eventually brought us hollandaise with CHUNKS in it. This is like step 1 of making hollandaise. Ambience is good I guess, but the food is not worth it. We were shocked at how bad this was.

Steve S.

Yelp
My wife and I have been to Juniper several times, most recently with our two young children on Christmas Eve, 2024. The ambience was great, the server was terrific, and the food and drink were great for vegetarians. We'll happily go back.

Patrick P.

Yelp
Love this place. Food is excellent. Service was top notch. I was worried about finding good vegan options as I was here on business, but they had a roasted carrots in birch syrup over a pistachio hummus that was to die for.

Tamira G.

Yelp
We had a great brunch here Saturday morning. I was a little skeptical at first because it's in a hotel. Don't let that lead you away. The service was great. Everyone led with a pleasant smile. It's a casual ambiance. We started brunch with a charcuterie board and a selection of VT cheese. Then we followed it up with the pancakes and the Red Flannel Hash. I've never seen brisket paired with beets but whoever came up with it had a great idea. Good balance of salty and mildly sweet. The pancakes were really good. To me, they had the perfect texture, sweetness (not very sweet), and thickness. To drink my boyfriends has the bloody Maria and I had a drink that had expresso and tequila (I can't remember the name). If I come back to Burlington, I'll come back for brunch

Aveon D.

Yelp
I believe our servers name was Ari. He was wonderful, and date night absolutely amazing. We had the steak au poivre and the roasted chicken. Both were amazing and he was so sweet. We had an old fashion with whistle pig and a white white (Garganega) both were fantastic; he kept them full. We also had the truffles and pear and endive salad both were delicious. He was very attentive and honestly we would come back for the great service, the good food was a wonderful bonus. Thank you so much Ari.

Sharron S.

Yelp
Let's start with the good - the service at brunch was fast and the server was charming. Also, the bagel with smoked salmon and capers was excellent. Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. We tried 3 other dishes. None of them were good. The poached eggs on the Benedict and in a separate dish were simultaneously hard, rubbery, and watery. Not sure how that was possible, but the chef achieved the impossible. The potatoes were undercooked and burned at the same time and entirely lacked any seasoning. The hollandaise was lumpy, flavorless, and lacked seasoning. The brunch cocktails were so strong the could have served the four of us. Nice if you want to be drunk at 10:30 in the morning, terrible if you want it to compliment the meal. Incredibly disappointing especially when I've had catered dinners here that have been delicious. There are many better choices in Burlington. Check them out.

Ben K.

Yelp
The food and service put this restaurant in the best of Burlington. We had a number of appetizers and split them as well as the family style portions for the mains. Excellent plating and quality. Most of the ingredients were local as well. Juniper is in the top three restaurants in Burlington!!

Yelp
Got takeout from here; the restaurant entrance is located to the right up the stairs after entering the hotel. The staff was very knowledgable about the menu items. Every single thing we ordered was amazing; we got the fried Brussels sprouts, pumpkin and lobster bisque, and red curry shrimp. Hung out in the lobby for our food; they had a fireplace going with comfy couches. Kind of pricey but would dine here again.

Yelp
If you stumble upon this restaurant because you are a Hotel Vermont guest, you may never be this travel food lucky again, as this a place to purposefully beeline to. With so many tempting dinner items to choose from, we settled on: Whole Rabbit (for 2) - a delicious, sweet-ish, mildly mole-tasting (cumin, blood orange, smoked paprika glazed) rabbit, served with red wine braised cabbage, refried beans, corn tortillas, spicy green salsa & a chimichurri sauce. Delicious! The for 2 plates come with very flaky scallion biscuits w/butter, and a lightly sesame-dressed salad of field & baby greens. For dessert, we had the Cranberry Custard - topped with a generous amount of thick whipped cream, and a handful of candied whole hazelnuts. Get this! Don't avoid it, cranberry avoiders! Sorbets - a scoop each of Lime Orgeat & Blueberry were so lightly sweet & refreshing New to us is a local canned non-alcoholic beverage called Bitter Bubble. We tried both the Sour Cherry Chicory & the Orange Chamomile & loved both. Lightly herby, lightly fruity, & bubbly - this will be on our shopping list from now on. Everything was so good, we came back for breakfast: 2 eggs, crispy bacon, the bright sesame-dressed salad greens w/radish that we had for dinner, buttered Red Hen toast w/jam. Basic, but elevated w/these excellent local ingredients! Breakfast Sammich - fresh squishy brioche bun, runny fried egg, that crispy bacon, Vermont cheddar. SUPER GOOD. Buttermilk pancakes w/wild blueberries - VT maple syrup & soft butter made these over the top delicious. Super strong Brio coffee & an Earl Grey latte were perfect with it all. A little bird told us that the Spring menu will be starting around May 8th, so we were lucky to catch these delish bites before they go away. Looking forward to trying other breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner menu items!

Yelp
As soon as you walk in, there is an amazing, rustic atmosphere. I ordered the "smoke 'em if you got em" mezcal drink, and it was great! The raspberry jam on the charcuterie board was another highlight. For my entree, I got the gnocchi. The vegetables tasted fresh, and it was cooked to perfection. Our server Ana, was the absolute best of the best and went out of her way to ensure we had the best time. Props to her!

Madeline M.

Yelp
10/10 Food was great, awesome ambiance. nothing can even come close to the amazing service by Kalani. If management is reading this, give that man a raise. I brought my family visiting here for dinner and we left having laughed and dined harder than ever. Thank you Kalani! You're the best.

Noelle M.

Yelp
I usually don't like to go to the same place more than once when I'm traveling, but we got such killer charcuterie and cheese boards that we came back for more when we wanted a drink and snack. I also usually don't gravitate toward hotel restaurants but this was also an exception. Wow! We really enjoyed our happy hour here--we were warmly welcomed, got seating easily despite it being busy and without a reservation, and loved the food and drinks. Even found a new cider we love. Highly recommend stopping in for at least some small bites and staying a night at Hotel Vermont

Foodie C.

Yelp
10/10 recommend this spot! You don't feel like you are dining in a hotel type restaurant. The service here is great and super friendly staff. Small menu but everything is fresh and delicious. The sausage and peppers with polenta was incredibly flavorful. My partner got the burger and also said it was a delicious classic burger with good fries. Espresso martini is fantastic. Overall, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere with good music and fantastic food. Did not feel rushed at all. Definitely coming back.

Super B.

Yelp
Fantastic food. Great ambiance and average service. We visited during the Jazz Festival so it was a busy crowd but our server often disappeared for extended periods. After we paid and departed, we understood why - he was out on a couch on the back patio with his fellow servers shooting the bull.

Ian R.

Yelp
Stayed at the Vermont Hotel and got dinner here. Menu seemed promising. Ordered the day's special described as dry aged Kobe beef steak, medium rare ($45). Not only was it over cooked, there's no way in heck it was a Kobe steak. It was served sliced, which probably contributed to it being dry and tough as shoe leather. Ended up spitting 1/3 of it into my napkin, eating a 1/3 and leaving the rest. I'm sure the waiter noticed, but never asked. I would have sent it back, but it was late, we'd already waited fairly long, my partner had been served and didn't want to make them wait any longer.

April H.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! Service was impeccable( our server was amazing), cocktails were delicious and balance. Food was amazing!! They has a special Scotch Egg on the menu and you would be sorry to miss it. It was unbelievably delicious. The att out for two dish was fantastic. Best trout we've had. Go here!! Don't skip it.

Jk S.

Yelp
I booked a reservation for brunch. When I asked to be seated outside they said that was not part of the restaurant and that I would have to go to the bar to order and they would bring the food out. Okay. So we seat ourselves. Next to us was a reserved table for a group. That was also there to eat. Somehow they had drinks brought to them and a server who helped them. My table had to get its own water, drinks, salt and pepper etc. Come prepared to serve your own table. Food was just okay. Had better pancakes elsewhere. Basic salmon bagel. The hash was heavy on the beets and light on the brisket. Disappointing. Would not go back.

Rachael O.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday evening; it was busy but we had a reservation thankfully. The cocktail drinks were great. We both enjoyed our meals. I wasn't expecting the poke bowl to be served over cold rice, but the flavors were great overall. The sausage & peppers ordered by my partner was also enjoyable. We would definitely return based on the food and service.

Kristina U.

Yelp
Fabulous farm to table cuisine, well balanced cocktails, generous portions, and THE BEST service (Ari, 10/10!!). The music was diverse (not overly loud) and the lighting was on point. We can't wait to come back.

G P.

Yelp
The bartenders are kids with no experience and are not trained at all. I didn't have a good experience, it is confusing and both bartenders confused if tabs are open or not. Total shitshow expected more from a hotel bar

Daniel O.

Yelp
We went for a night out and chose this place on a whim. So glad we did, great ambiance, great food, great drinks. The real highlight was our server Kalani, who made us feel special and at home! We were already planning our next visit before we had left!

Laurie P.

Yelp
Had the chèvre gnocchi au gratin with pumpkin cream sauce. Sounds delicious right? So bland and there was no saving it. Husband had the bacon burger, nothing to write home about, except maybe to ask how a $24 burger was not made with a better grade of ground beef. Add a couple of ciders and with tip we were into triple digits. Very disappointing.

renje g.

Yelp
- large steaks - did not like the gnochi - awesome bartenders - enjoyed the service - no resey needed on a Tuesday at 8:30pm - breakfast is expensive - i liked the cheese plate - biscuit is thick, but tastes regular - good salads - good beer selection, and better recommendations

Stacey H.

Yelp
Staying at the Hotel Vermont, we were excited to unpack and check out the bar. Really nice ambiance, and you pay at the bar and have your drink brought to you. The service was really friendly and accommodating as well, and drinks were strong and delicious! Ordered: - Super Nox- this bourbon drink was fantastic! I am not a huge bourbon person, but this made me reconsider... - Old Fashioned- a classic - Espresso Martinis- not on the menu, but, these were some of the best espresso martinis we had EVER had. Super fresh, watched them make it... a perfect blend of smooth, sweet, strong... not a typical Baileys loaded drink- purely tasted like espresso with a punch. 10/10 would recommend! Overall, fantastic experience here. Whether outdoors by the fire/heat lamps, or indoors at the couches/seating area, Juniper was a place we would stop for a drink again and again!

Debra M.

Yelp
Met my family after the crazy Thanksgiving weekend. Great place for our breakfast. Was greeted with great reception being a large party. Our server Kate was great. Enjoyed everything! The pancakes were super fluffy. Maple latte was delicious. Thanks again.

Kelley B.

Yelp
I loved this bar! It's very cozy and is a relaxed place to sit and eat. Had some things that were very good (turkey sandwich, breakfast sandwich, parfait) and some things that weren't because they didn't have much flavor (carrots, Brussels, Mac n cheese). The drinks were very good but a tad pricey. We went several times for the bar though as it was very fun to sit in front of the fireplace with a cocktail. They have a very cute outdoor patio too.

Bridgette G.

Yelp
Fantastic experience. Beautiful minimalist decor. Food and service were exceptional. Fresh ingredients and expert preparation. We loved every moment.

Jess R.

Yelp
Great food- but also highly recommend the bar- they make the most incredible fresh drinks! The outdoor patio is great with a fire pit and a gorgeous view of the lake-they have blankets you can grab and snuggle up in if it gets too cold.

Allison B.

Yelp
We went as a group of friends and met for dinner on December 23rd. We were wowed. The last time we went was 5 years ago and we were underwhelmed by the food. This time it was amazing. The two of had Brussels Caesar salad, pumpkin bisque, the duck dish and the pheasant dish. We are both pretty picky and this meal did not disappoint. Every dish was outstanding. We were actually in a state of shock and delight. The server, Ari, was the icing on the cake. He was attentive, very competent, friendly, and funny. We are looking forward to going again soon and not waiting 5 years.

Diandra L.

Yelp
Brunch is the best. Especially brunch with a bloody mary bar and local cheese plates. Find both these things, and more, at Juniper. A Sunday on vacation should always start with brunch, and when Yelping best brunches in Burlington, Juniper kept popping up on our radar. This restaurant is part of a hotel, and located right next to the lobby entrance. It is beautiful. We were seated really quickly, after being greeted with live jazz in the hotel lobby. First things first, I started with a bloody Mary. They bring it to the table already made, and you can add all your faves like olives, pickled veggies and lotttsss of hot sauce. My boyfriend ordered the Mimosa but made with fresh apple juice. Sounds weird, but it was so good! We got a bunch of stuff to split starting with a local cheese board. I would like to give an ode to this board. It was $10 and came with three different, local cheeses that were to die for. My favorite was the Jasper Hill blue cheese that has won multiple awards for being the best blue cheese in the world. Yes, you read that right! There was no shortage of cheese on this plate, and I seriously couldn't believe it was just $10. We also ordered the Benedict which had smoked pork loin. These eggs were so fresh, and I loved every bite. The miss for me was the Duck Eggs and steamed greens. It sounded cool, but compared to the benny it lacked flavor. All in all this is a solid spot for brunch. Service is super friendly, and although we got our food rather quickly, it also seems like a spot you can linger with food, friends and a cocktail.

Peter K.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food with a great vibe. Ari is a fabulous server with great humor and hospitality. Wonderful decor. Staff as a whole was great. Nothing but good things to say.

Jacqui P.

Yelp
So I had to come and update my review because after literal years of having it, they took cava off the menu. :/ I literally would come here for the cava. Tisk.

Adrienne B.

Yelp
Love this spot when I visit Burlington! Everything is always excellent. Fresh ingredients, cozy atmosphere.

Julia K.

Yelp
We had a really mixed bag experience at Juniper for a birthday dinner. The ambience inside was warm and buzzing with holiday spirit. Perfect place for a few adults to have a really nice dinner. The cocktails were really delicious. We were blown away by the cheese and charcuteries boards we ordered as appetizers. Every single thing on there was dynamite and ordering those two things as apps ended up being the perfect amount of appetizers for four really hungry people. My husband got the walleye special which was just spectacular. The fish tasted really fresh and it came over a bed of farro, we all had to try a bite of his dinner it was so good. The burger and kale Caesar were both very okay. I ordered the pumpkin gnocchi which I had read on the menu weeks prior and was so excited about. This dish was astoundingly bad, I actually couldn't believe it. It just doesn't taste like anything at all? I couldn't get a hint of a single flavor, no pumpkin, no cheese. It was bizarre. Not sure what went wrong here, but for the price point (this cost more than the delicious walleye special) this was such a huge disappointment. I watched the table next to us have a similar experience with the gnocchi unfortunately. The things that were great here were really great. We would go back and probably stick to the specials and apps. Loved the cocktails, ambiance, and beer selection!

Ann P.

Yelp
We had a delightful brunch at Juniper. The flavors, plating and service was memorable. Top notch for the Red Hen breads, delicious home fries and oh my GOSH, the mushroom tartine. The views of the mountains from the high tops was lovely. Service was flawless.

Mike G.

Yelp
The service was good, everything was sparkly clean, and the food was delicious. Our drinks came out quickly and were really tasty. You get what you pay for here and I would definitely come back.

Debbie B.

Yelp
We just got bar drinks and went outside to the fire pit. Yummy drinks. Loved having the blankets at the fire pit.

Ashley A.

Yelp
So was so excited to try this place... was the biggest waste of money. The Mushroom ragout Gnocchi was massive bundles of mushrooms maybe 8 gnocchis didn't have much flavor. My husband asked for well done and got medium... so he only ate half of it... no one came to ask how everything was and what we thought. Was $75 for barely any service and mediocre food Only positive was the hosts were very sweet

Gavin S.

Yelp
How many describes a Food very elegantly but when you get your dish very very big let down. The mushroom gnocchi had about six pieces of gnocchi and some thing I can only be described as very bland sauce. A dish just had absolutely no flavor. The service and the servers are amazing. The cocktails can be really good unfortunately there is some inconsistency with some of the bartenders and the drinks aren't always the same. Can't really say it's worth the cost.

Rylo L.

Yelp
My food came halfway through the meal and it was just not a fun experience for me. I likes the food but the service was only ok. The ambiance was good thought.

Jen R.

Yelp
Great upbeat atmosphere, DJ with appropriate volume, excellent food and friendly staff.

Gina R.

Yelp
Gorgeous cozy zen setting for drinks/dinner. Or brunch. Really nice for a hotel restaurant. But the food was meh. Chicken and biscuit with ranch was a huge portion for a small solid plate. Lamb ribs, on the other hand, were dried out and tough. Granted it was around 10, pretty late. If dinner was at 6 I'm sure the food would have been better quality wise. Service - amazing. Drinks - apple cider is prevalent. Had a (non-Apple) negroni that was tasty. Local gin Barr Hill is made with native honey and fauna. I thought it was lovely. Great selection of wine, and some local ones. Bar is copper top love it. Also - fire pit outside with blankets.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
The restaurant was basically in the hotel lobby. The service was great. One waitress for about 9 tables she did amazing and we didn't wait long for our food. I wouldn't necessarily call this place farm to table. Endive salad- the anchovies and grapefruit clashed. The anchovies were a little overpowering maybe if they went with another brand it would've gone better Beef pot roast- it was a bit dry. Tasty but it needed more liquid on it. Not enough for the meat. Side Brussels sprouts- undercooked Side maple carrots- too much maple syrup. Carrot got lost. Cheddar fritters with maple butter- these were the best. I would highly recommend ordering this

Sara S.

Yelp
Nice restaurant in Hotel Vermont convenient for breakfast and drinks in the bar or terrace while staying at the hotel. We enjoyed the beautiful restaurant and great service. Our meals could have been better for the reputation of the hotel's other restaurant, Hen of the Wood, but breakfast was a little disappointing. I must first mention I absolutely loved my yogurt - perfect balance of sweet and tart, light and crunchy granola, and a generous serving of fresh fruit. My husband's and children's meals were not bad. The breakfast sandwich was simple and tasty and the kid's breakfast was a nice helping of everything. Neither were perfect. The potatoes were overcooked. The blueberry pancakes were full of wild blueberries, but the syrup, albeit sourced locally, had an odd taste unlike any other Vermont maple syrup. Maybe it was a bad batch? Regardless, we would definitely return for breakfast or drink during our stay here as it's just downstairs and service is great.

John Y.

Yelp
Very delightful, definitely worth coming back to. We sampled a few plates together: * Green salad - refreshing, maybe could have used a little more dressing, but hit the spot * Glazed carrots - excellent! Not your Grandma's carrots, and that's a compliment :) * Porchetta - seared and cooked perfectly. Ideal for cold weather. * Fingerling potatoes - spot on with a great crispy skin. * Mushroom ragout - easily the star of the whole meal!!! This was divine and I think we're going to try our darnedest to replicate it at home sometime this fall.

K. F.

Yelp
I am a fan of this bar. It is lovely Inside, is comfy, there is space to sit at bar or on cozy benches around the bar area. Bar food is delish, especially the burgers, and Brussels. Sometimes has jazz music, too, which adds to overall experience.

Philip W.

Yelp
My old Airedale loved thus place, the automatic doors, she found she could get treats from the concierge. Dogs were permitted on the patio and in the lobby. We both could have breakfast by the lobby fire. Her last visit was about 2 weeks before she died at the age of 16. it's be one one of my favorite breakfast stops as well.
