"Just a Pinch Cafe combines Southern and Hawaiian flavors with dishes like sweet bread French toast, which can be paired with katsu fried chicken strips for a sweet and savory option. For a real taste of the islands get the loco moco, made with white rice topped with either pulled pork or a burger patty, then slathered with brown gravy and two over easy eggs with a side of macaroni salad. But the real star of Just a Pinch Cafe is the macadamia nut syrup, which is a nice alternative to traditional maple syrup on everything." - Megan duBois

"At Just A Pinch Cafe and Catering the breakfast menu is filled with southern favorites with a Hawaiian twist. The restaurant’s take on chicken and waffles gets an island spin with Katsu fried chicken served with King’s Hawaiian Roll French toast. For something more authentically Hawaiian try the Loco Coco, which is steamed white rice, choice of meat, gravy, two eggs, Spam, and macaroni salad." - Megan duBois

This has become one of our favorite weekend brunch spots. My favorite is the pineapple upside down pancake and my husband's new favorite is the katsu chicken omelet. The tater tot sides are delish and the coconut syrup is a favorite for me and my daughter. Everything is delish! And they have the best nugget ice! Sometimes they're can be a little bit of a wait for a table, but the move quickly to get everyone seated. Staff is always friendly and service is usually quick.

I had a great morning dining here. The food was good. The shrimp was great, but it needed to come in 6 pieces. 😂We almost had to fight for the last one. I ordered the French toast & my sister ordered the Big breakfast. Everything was tasty and made to order. The waitress was awesome with a very good attitude. My only hang-up was I had my own water, and they didn't want me to bring it in to drink with my meal. Their water was tap and disgusting.

Really good brunch spot.. Quite busy but the service and food didn't skip a beat. Food was all enjoyable. Ordered the French Toast and Chicken Katsu - the coconut and maple syrup are both great, recommend you try each on different slices. Chicken was very tender and moist, with the breading being crispy and flavorful. Tater tots were a nice perk to all that. Friends enjoyed their dishes, next time I'll have to try their rice plate, it looked really good too. The portions are very big and will fill you up and possibly end up with leftovers for a second meal. Great values.

Google
I'm pretty snobby about how my grits are cooked, and these were very well prepared! The Crab wontons with sweet chili sauce were great too! Great food, love the atmosphere, and the owner was very nice! Unfortunately, I do have to stick to a Gluten Free diet (not celiac, thankfully) and there isn't really much other than the grits that I can have.

Google
Found this hidden gem here in Fleming Island! From the moment we arrived the service, atmosphere and overall experience were unmatched. Best Gouda cheese grits I’ve ever had! It is a family friendly restaurant and also a great place to go with your partners. Our server Hannah provided top tier white glove service, she was amazing at making us feel very comfortable. If you are looking to try a new breakfast spot with Hawaiian inspired dishes, with no hesitation this is the spot for you to go!

Google
I lived at Hawaii for a few years and this place did a good job of capturing the feel of Hawaiian restaurants without having the weather and ocean readily available. The food was also a tasty reminder without duplicating the price of being on island. Will be going by back with friends and family.

Google
What an excellent brunch! We felt transported to Hawaii, like a mini vacation! The pineapple up-side down pancakes were to die for and the hazelnut coffee is incredible! The coconut syrup is a special touch! And the grits are creamy and delicious! Even the desert we had- Lumpia cheesecake was phenomenal. The service was excellent! Amy was very friendly, informative and attentive! We even spoke with the owner Bernard who takes great pride in his business. It wasn’t super busy today, but even if we had to- it would be worth the wait! We will definitely be back soon!

Google
This place is really delish. We could not make up our mind what we wanted so we decided to a couple different things. I got the big chicken. We got the chicken salad and she got the bernard qué tot. All of these were so good.

Debbie F.

Yelp
What a full menu! So many great things to try. Today we ordered Big Country Steak and a Full Breakfast with hawaiian bread French toast. The sausages were.. "nui loa" (Huge). The coconut syrup was light and perfect with the kings bread. . The tator totes were sized up also and crunchy..sooogood. The appetizers list is full of TRY MES like hand rolled lumpia and crispy shrimp wontons. *BAO BUNS* WOOHOO and ? Spam?. This menu has something for everyone and as for me I see several trips back to try the generous options they offered us.

Yelp
I've been here twice now, and I wanted to bring my wife here since she's got a soft spot for Hawaii after living there for years. The place specializes in brunch and Hawaiian cuisine. If you've ever traveled there, you'll feel like you're back between items such as spam, loco moco, and Hawaiian macaroni salad. In both experiences, the service was amazing. This is the kind of place where you can have a full on conversation with your server. It feels like a classic diner. On the latest visit, my wife had the aforementioned loco moco while I ordered the biscuits, gravy and more. For those unfamiliar, loco moco is a popular Hawaiian dish consisting of rice, an egg, a hamburger steak, and brown gravy. She was very impressed, and it made her reminisce about her time back on the islands. The biscuits, gravy, and more came with eggs and a side of spam, and although tasty, I think it could have used a little more seasoning. With that being said though, I'd be more than willing to give other interesting selections from their menu a try. Give this place a go if you're looking for a new local brunch spot or want to try some Hawaiian food!

Yelp
This place hits all the right marks for brunch and Hawaiian fare. I came in wanting spam and eggs and left having Hawaiian king rolls French toast and added grilled pineapple, tots, coconut oil syrup, lumpia with sweet chili sauce, upside down pineapple pancakes, plus the spam and eggs. EVERYTHING WAS SOOO GOOD! I can't wait to go back and order the same exact thing plus I want to try the pimento cheese wonton purses with jalapeños, their breakfast burrito, the Bernard A Que omelette (pulled pork), Gouda grits, country fried steak, like everything! The interior has plenty of room and nice country style bench seating with regular chairs too. Cute pineapple and Hawaiian decor. Our server was great and let me modify basically everything I ate with no issues. I'm looking at my calendar to go back asap!

Crystal S.

Yelp
Cute little mom and pop place the food is authentic and yummy. Definitely a little taste of Hawaii. I loved the coconut flavors in my coffee and my pancakes. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our host treated us so well for a first time. Explained the menu and gave recommendations. She gave us complementary sauces to trial. It was an early breakfast and before the crowd. I've only tried their breakfast but I'm looking forward to trying their lunch and dinner.

Yelp
Came here on the spur of the moment this morning for brunch, and was certainly not disappointed. This cafe is tucked away at the end of a strip mall and might get overlooked if you don't notice it's there. Started with a plate of traditional lumpia with chili sauce for dipping. They were very tasty and hot. Mama ordered the Bento box to get a sampling of the fare, and I did the biscuits, gravy and more. Portions were generous, food was fresh, and the biscuits were amazing. Light and fluffy, the perfect way to get that savory gravy into my mouth. Our server was prompt, gracious and helpful, and kept my coffee cup topped off. Add to it they have a Military discount, and this place is a keeper. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Love this place, only wish it was open later in the day. I'm sure they would do great if they expanded their menu into a dinner restaurant

Sonya K.

Yelp
Love it The Katsu chicken with sweet Hawaiian French toast and the coconut syrup is wonderful. I

Aubrey H.

Yelp
I enjoy the food at this location but the wait times are often excessive. I like the Hawaiian flair given to the dishes including poke and spam. On busy days it is hard to justify the wait for food at the table.

Mykele S.

Yelp
They have so much Aloha!! I've been there multiple times & love all of the food. Their Mac Salad is delicious & Lumpia is always a must. Service is amazing & so friendly. My husband & I have 'Day Dates' here for lunch while the kids are at school. You come in and feel relaxed. It's such a nice little taste of Hawaii cuisine w/ a twist!!

Alexandra R.

Yelp
Fantastic breakfast and lunch! Staff is so friendly ! Great island vibe and the perfect treat when you need a taste of Hawaii!

Yelp
Had a bad experience on an easy Sunday morning. The place was busy but we got sat quickly. That was about the nicest part of this review. It took forever to order. It too forever to get our food. I had to get up with my empty drinks to get my own refills. This was after asking twice to get a refill. They had 2 people at the front desk that were doing nothing. They had server's joking around at the bar and doing nothing. After food finally got there and we were done, the server refused to come to our table. Actually asked someone else to bring my ticket. I had to get up and have someone check me out since our server refused to come to our table. It's a shame because we loved going there. Not again. They mismanage their staff and apparently no management there. I wouldn't recommend going there unless you have a lot of time and you love bad service.

Rick G.

Yelp
Worst service in Fleming Island. The restaurant can be half full, but you will still wait 10 mins to get seated and 45 mins to get plated. DO NOT get the bottomless mimosas. 20-30 mins between drinks is not worth it. Great concept and great food. Been there 10+ times. Finally we decided to never go again.

Bonnie J.

Yelp
Delicious & never disappoints, staff is always very friendly. Food always fresh, bottomless mimosas only thing I would recommend is advertising more! Great little hidden gem for anyone who doesn't live on the island. Family owed local business! Some of our favorites are the lumpia, chicken & waffles and chicken & French toast. Huge portions & worth the hype!!

Karen F.

Yelp
Had a third meal at Just-a-Pinch for my Red Hat chapter's winter holiday party. There were ten of us and everyone enjoyed themselves. But we were placed at two tables with benches, not chairs, and it isn't the best seating for elderly ladies! (If we go there again, I'll make sure we have chairs even if we have to sit at separate tables.) Still, the food was just as good as the other two times and they do have a great selection! The service was friendly and fairly frequent check-ins were nice. I took some photos of the meals around me to show some of the variety. While I got a fruit bowl with my waffle (because of my onion allergy), many chose the macaroni salad for their side. The Tater Tots were some members' favorite, though! The coconut syrup was enjoyed by all!!

Dawn W.

Yelp
Delicious! Do your taste buds a favor & try the dessert lumpia. The regular lumpia is fantastic too.

Casey O.

Yelp
Just A Pinch catered my wedding at Bowing Oaks in October. From the moment we selected them, they were professional and flexible. They worked with us for a custom menu and were incredibly understanding when we had to postpone a full year due to COVID. We were so impressed that they came to our venue walk through and worked through all the details and logistics with them- aka no stress for me!! Day of the wedding came and they did not disappoint. The staff were professional and kind and most importantly- the food was amazing! We had steak and shrimp, chicken, and vegan polenta. Several guests told me how good the food was- and I couldn't agree more! I highly recommend them all around.

Chantel W.

Yelp
So off a recommendation from a friend we came here & absolutely loved our breakfast. I had the big bruddth breakfast & the just a pinch mimosa & my husband had the pina colada pancakes...so good Tasted like cake. We would definitely eat here again. The mac salad was on point, full of flavor. Its a large portion but so tasty. I didn't think the spicy sausage was spicy so next time I'd do double spam. AHOLA

Dee J.

Yelp
At the recommendation of our grandson, my husband and I decided to have breakfast after Church last Sunday. From the moment we stepped inside we were impressed. Smiling faces great you. There's an island vibe and lots of spam leading me to believe the owner may be Hawaiian. We will become regulars!!

Rainier V.

Yelp
Just a pinch is just amazing, but this review is not only for the restaurant but for the owner, Bernard. We ordered a set thanksgiving meal, since we are a busy household and no time for us to prepare meals. When my wife opened the bag, one dish was missing. We called the restaurant and Bernard picked up and asked us to meet us in the restaurant and at that time, the place was already closed. When we got there, the owner was waiting and gave us not on,y the missing dish but some extras. Bernard went the extra miles to make sure that we are satisfied, we told him, we only wanted the missing dish, but he insisted on taking the extras. Sorry it took me awhile to post this, but I'm a regular in Just a Pinch and always appreciate their yummy, Hawaiian with some Filipino flares.... Keep it up, love this restaurant, nom nom, nom... so yummy

Jay P.

Yelp
I felt deceived, mislead. The name of this place threw me off. Just A Pinch Café, a name I assumed as an all American Diner type cuisine. Instead they actually serve Hawaiian cuisine. #GameChanger Just A Pinch of "Hawaii" (that is what I would've named it). And with that name, I would have been here sooner. And ironically, there is a Pinch A Penny on the other side of the strip. Too much Pinch'ing goins on here folks. First observation when I first walked in was how busy the place was. The staff is friendly. The menu...Extensive. Some of what we ordered and Taste Impressions... Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes (5/5): If you like Pancakes, if you like Pineapple Upside Down Cakes, if you like light Desserts, if you are a sweet tooth...then this is something to try. Pair this up with their Coconut Syrup, and it will totally blow you away. I can easily become a Diabetic just for the new love I have for this deliciousness. And if you're watching your Carbs, then set this item aside for Cheat Day. I highly recommend this item. Katsu Chicken Loco Moco (5/5): The Battered Chicken and Gravy was the winner of this dish. The egg and rice however fought hard as well to win my palate and between all four, it was a thing of beauty. I could not get enough of that gravy though, delicious. Bernard-A-Que Pork Sliders (4/5): Nice and flavorful. Pina Colada Breakfast (4/5): It was good comfort food, just felt like something I can make similarly at home. Only caveat, our food did took A WHILE to come out. I was getting HANGRY and felt my blood sugar dipping into a dangerous low. But all in all, it was worth the wait. This is a nice Brunch jewel of a place to go to...in the Fleming Island area. #AlohaYall And for the record... I gave this a 4.5 rating.

Jasa S.

Yelp
Hidden gem. Amazing owner, he will visit tables, run food orders, and bring things just because! The teriyaki porkchops is addictive The pulled pork is hubby's go to. Hawaiian fusion and amazing They cater too! Give it a try-esp if you've been to Hawaii and like locomoco. Ps must try pineapple pancakes and their homemade coconut syrup!+++

Hugh P.

Yelp
Nice surprise in Flemming Island. The fried green tomatoes were a good start. The we had the Hawaiian lunch special. The pork chops were moist and cooked just right. The rice and potato salad were good complements.

Mariana I.

Yelp
We had the lumpia as an appetizer and it is a must have! They were fried perfectly and the filling was tasty. For my entree I had the "piña colada breakfast " pineapple pancakes with spam ,eggs and tater tots!

Tina D.

Yelp
We have eaten here many times and we love it! The ingredients are always fresh and the staff is very courteous. It's always a nice experience to dine here.

Jesse W.

Yelp
Was amazing, food, service, and the atmosphere. I would highly recommend the Pina colada pancakes

Chris C.

Yelp
What a very nice place and great service on a busy Saturday morning. A little wait, 20+~mins and worth it. Ask for Amy great server. Food reminded my wife & I of Hawaii in a number of ways.

Tina W.

Yelp
The Hawaiian French toast is phenomenal! Brunch with any one of their mimosas is a win and their house made Hawaiian hazelnut coffee is a must try!

Kristine C.

Yelp
Met the owner who was busy bringing out food. Friendly and took the time to stop and talk with us. Native Hawaiian. Two owners from different backgrounds create food that is a mix of Hawaiian and southern USA cooking. Spam and rice meets biscuits with gravy on the menu. Blueberry pancakes with ricotta and coconut syrup were good. Missing the ordered white chocolate chips in them. Barbecue pulled pork sandwich and tots had a good accompanied sauce. We ate in, but felt the 15 Percent automatic gratuity we saw typed on the menu on the take out orders was bit presumptuous. Two big bold plastic coated signs plastered on the hostess station greeted us as the first thing you see entering the restaurant. "No outside food allowed in the restaurant". Hostess said they must be posted in all restaurants serving eggs. Possible salmonella poisoning? Maybe post on the outside door, window, or on back wall of restaurant with other code requirements. Not so welcoming on the hostess station since that is the first impression you get of any restaurant. We were not the only customers commenting negatively on them.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere- staff was more than attentive and friendly. I took to long to write the review so I can't remember the name of the menu items we had but I can tell you I will be going back soon with friends and hopefully family!!

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Before sending our son back to college, we decided on Just A Pinch for lunch. We started with the boa buns. The bread was soft and the chicken was flavorful. My son ordered the burger and devoured it, so I'm assuming it was delicious. I was able to snag a bite of his macaroni salad and it was excellent. My husband and I opted for poke'. He ordered the nachos and I ordered the bowl. The nachos were made with won ton chips and a great complement to the poke'. My poke' bowl was served over rice. It was tender and flavorful. I would have liked a little more of the marinade, but regardless I finished it. Overall, it was a great meal and we will return.

Max L.

Yelp
Amazing host, servers and food. I tend to get the same thing. The full breakfast with the French toast made with Hawaiian bread. It's such an ingenious concept and tastes amazing. Their tater tots have a slight sweet to the salty snack and are addictive as well. I am a repeat customer and have not had one bad experience yet.

Jill M.

Yelp
Had such a great brunch here with my family. I was looking for something in Clay as it's closer to where they live. I looked up brunch places and this came up. I liked the menu - good variety and reasonable prices. AND THEY TAKE RESERVATIONS! No need to wait an hour or more to get into Grumpy's or Metro. The inside is very nice! Country-style without the Cracker Barrel clutter, tables spaced well apart, fast and friendly service. I had a waffle breakfast that was enough for 2 people and only cost $7. There's a Hawaiian theme going on for some reason so there was a choice of maple or coconut syrup. Sandwiches are served on that yummy Hawaiian roll bread. Some of us got burgers and said that was terrific, too. Only one complaint- the side of bacon only came w two pieces so wasn't worth the extra $4. Everything else was terrific. And did I tell you ... They take reservations!

Erin K.

Yelp
All the reasons I will keep returning to this hot spot: -fresh food -unique menu items -outstanding service -decent prices -beachy atmosphere -super clean -good-smelling -friendly hosste -Tip: Try the coconut syrup! Not too sweet... very coconutty..

Sergio M.

Yelp
First time at this place I wanted to go for a restaurant known for brunch. So first the positives. Great menu items, nice relaxing area and prices were reasonable. Now the hard part the negatives, big one NONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WORE A MASK!! Like where is the courtesy?? Secondly a lot of dis-organization (employee doesn't take my number down correctly and skips me when i was waiting outside to be seated. I had to go and check finding out the hostess never checked me in and manager had to sit us down. Then he took our order only to have two waiters come to take our order not knowing we already were taking care of then just walked off ) Last the food was not hot but it tasted good...we just ate it as is. Sadly I wouldn't go out of my way for this place your better off at First Watch or even Ida Claire for the same cost. Much needed training and service etiquette.... and OWNERS should not put their servers at risk they should of had employees wear their mask!

Angelica C.

Yelp
I ordered the country fried steak with tater tots and scrambled eggs with cheese. Served on top of butter biscuits and country gravy. Was delicious

yadira p.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing we went for the first time today and it checked all the boxes; amazing food; service and clean restaurant including the bathrooms you can tell they care about their restaurant. Highly recommend it.

Tina C.

Yelp
Placed a to go order over the phone as soon as they open, ordering process was very easy, the receiver was very attentive and accommodating. The restaurant is always packed and you will know why. Got the bacon burritos and it came with tots. Everything was fresh and flavorful! Make sure you go early or there will be a line. Give this place a shot but remember they're popular so go before you're starving

Anthony B.

Yelp
The cheeseburger taste like something you get in school. That did not sit right with my stomach. I will try something else before I give it a good decision.

Steven L.

Yelp
Walk in 3 hours before closing, only to be told that they're closed for a event and to come back tomorrow. No. Lol. You had one chance. Shame.

Brandon L.

Yelp
The food is 5-stars! We always get the Gouda grits - they are so good! I usually do mine with the chicken katsu, but the other options are awesome too! The only reason we're giving 4 stars is because my partner asks to substitute Gouda grits in place of their potatoes, but all four times, they have still brought her potatoes.

Kelli F.

Yelp
This place has it! They have something you will not find in other places. The quality of food was in a different level, but the prices are super affordable. I loved they had a variety of sweet for me and spicy for him. We will definitely be back!!!!

Johnny U.

Yelp
Bernard is the man! Great Grinds, great service, great people. Lived in the the Hawaiian Islands for 20+ years. When I get homesick I go see Bernard for a LocoMoco and some Mac-salad and Boom mo-bettah I stay

Bonnie J.

Yelp
First time here, our server Ashley was very helpful with my need for gluten free options. She took the time to speak to the kitchen and help me find a delicious breakfast! The Salomon bowl on grits was absolutely amazing. My husband had the croissant breakfast sandwich and it was a huge portion and he loved it.

Pilar M.

Yelp
Excellent The place is little but the food great and Delicious The presentation and flavor are incredible Good for group and family and good for breakfast and brunch and lunch. Staff are friendly and the owners are good chef and nice man and woman Recommend to all my family and friends Now they are in a big place Go and enjoy the food

Harriet W.

Yelp
This place is always crowded, so it took us a while to finally get to eat here without a 30-45 minute wait. The food was good, but not great. The service definitely needs some work. I asked for over medium eggs and received hard cooked eggs. They did replace them, But it was extra time we had to wait. Coffee was never refilled, waited forever to get cream and sugar. And I kind of doubt, but I could be wrong, that the spam is truly not spam. It's a luncheon meat knock off, but this is just my opinion. And it is quite pricey. But, their French toast with coconut syrup is awesome!

Leah P.

Yelp
Came here today to celebrate a birthday and meet my dearest girlfriends, we haven't been together in 8yrs. 2 of the girls ha shrimp and grits bowl, looks good, another had the Bernard-que with grits and I had the seared tuna taco. It was delicious!!!! Perfectly seared tuna served raw with coleslaw in a wonton taco sitting on a seaweed slice with white rice ( didn't really care for it bc I had the bottom of the pot, u could tell) with some green topping. Service was good. The cafe itself is cute. For dessert I had the cream cheese lumpia. I highly recommend the entree and desert! Will be back again!!

Jamie W.

Yelp
I had this spot bookmarked for some time and since my teen and I were in the neighborhood, we decided it was time to give it a try. Very cute and quaint spot. I decided to go for Chicken and Waffles and my teen went for the Pork Omelet. My waffles were hot and tasty, with a sprinkling of nuts on top. The chicken was moist and cooked well. My biggest complaint is that the dish came with tater tots. You can tell these are pre-packaged tots, and it was just too much "brown" on the plate as well as too many carbs. A side of fresh fruit, or even a small salad or anything fresh to give it some color as well as brightness would help. My teen enjoyed her waffle, but said it wasn't anything special that she couldn't have at home or anywhere else. Service was great and friendly. They did have some other interesting things on the menu so we may be back to give them a try.

Jeanne B.

Yelp
Wow!!! Great food and a very interesting menu, Hawaiian style! All sandwiches and even the French toast made with Hawaiian sweet buns. The owner Bernard and his entire staff were warm & welcoming. I highly recommend breakfast or brunch.

Mary L.

Yelp
Loved the food and such a cute place! Pulled pork was yummy as was the burger and the chicken salad. We definitely will be back to try something differen.
