"Just Dinner on Dunlavy, the charming BYOB eatery located in a Hyde Park cottage will shutter at the end of December after more than decade in business. A notice posted on the restaurant’s website announced the closure, stating that proprietor Lila Rivas will close up shop on December 31. Her open letter included a heartfelt tribute to Andrew and Lisa Rebori, the couple who originally opened the eatery and passed the torch to her when Andrew passed away in 2011. No word yet on what prompted Rivas to close the eatery altogether, although she writes that she extended the lease on the space “to its completion.” When the Houston Press reviewed the eatery in 2014, it wrote, “The dinner options at this little hideaway could stand up to anything at large, better-known restaurants such as Underbelly and Haven.” Just Dinner on Dunlavy’s last day of service is December 31." - Alaena Hostetter

Very nice romantic homey place. The thick cut belly was the best I ever have had in my life. Also, the corn and crab cowder is also a must. BYOB on wine is a nice touch. The crab cakes were full of real crab meat. However the ribs were a bit dry.

Google
Steak, duck, lamb... all 3 meats requiring different touches are seamlessly cooked. Service, bit spotty but friendly. A BYOB option for wine lover, they charge $15 corkage fee. Do recommend.

We had a wonderful experience at Just Dinner, with everything from the service to the appetizers to the entrees and desert being flawlessly executed. The Foie Gras was a unique preparation that was very impressive. The steaks were prepared perfectly and desert was impeccable. We thought to bring a nice port in addition to our other wines and it added a nice crown jewel to the evening.

We made reservations here for new years eve and loved our experience. You can be dressed up or casual and still feel right at home. There are 7-10 tables max inside but it never felt crowded. Our party of six was taken care of by I believe his name was Cruz, and gave us fantastic recommendations on food as well as refilled our champagne that we BYOB'd constantly. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. My favorite appetizer was the foie gras, and my entree was the lamb. My fiancee ordered the surf and turf which was also heavenly. Over all I would say to prepare to spend at least $100 a person if you want the best meal possible, and make reservations In advance. There is plenty of parking outside, enjoy this historic spot!

Everything I read about Just Dinner is true. The ambiance is warm and cozy. The food is expertly prepared and the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. They made us feel welcome. I had their famous Braised Short Ribs. Cooked to perfection and served in a port reduction sauce with mashed Potato and mixed vege. The portions are big, so I'm getting the enjoy this meal again for lunch today!! We started off with a cheese platter the selection was very tray and served with complimentary fruits and compots.

Outstanding food and service. The filet was cooked perfectly as was the risotto. Good portion sizes and better prices than other upscale places in the area. Plus it's byob, so this is a great place to bring a really nice bottle of wine.

This is one of the best experiences my husband and I have ever had. Our server, Heather, was amazing! She described all the specials so well that you could actually picture the food that you were going to be served. But even with that detailed description the food exceeded by far our expectations!! So delicious and exquisite. We ordered the Pork three ways and the short ribs with a side of risotto. Since it was my birthday we ordered a pear pie that was delicious as well and they even decorated it with a chocolate "Happy birthday" on the plate. The ambiance is great, cozy, romantic lighting and quiet. Such a shame that it will be closing by the end of the year. Must go before they close! Don't miss out on this hidden gem.

Google
We've been going to Just Dinner for years now and it never disappoints! The staff is always always friendly and sweet and the food is amazing! They've had the crowd favorites like the short ribs and the crab cake on the menu forever and it is always a fantastic choice, but don't miss the seasonal items and ever changing daily menu. Still BYOB as well, so bring a bottle or two and be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. One of our favorites for sure!

Yelp
Cutest little place serving authentic Mexican cuisine. Well worth the short wait. Very stylish welcoming atmosphere

Yelp
I love coming to Cielito Cafe! Everyone is always so welcoming, and the food is also great! It's a small place which makes it even more homie. I recommend going early because it does get super busy and parking might be a hassle.

Yelp
Went here on a Tuesday for brunch and got the Divorciados and a café de olla. The divoriciados were basically the elements and flavors of a chilaquiles with less tortilla chips, and as a fan of chilaquiles I enjoyed it. The salsas were very flavorful and I liked how they had a mix of green and red salsa. The only downside is that the portion is quite small. (6.5/10) The café de olla was earthy with a slight sweetness, but it did taste a bit watered down compared to others that I've tried. (5/10) Overall the café is super cute and perfect for a girls brunch, but the parking is a challenge especially on weekends when it is more crowded. The food tastes good and the service was quick. I would recommend going during the week to avoid the line and outdoor wait.

Jassir A.

Yelp
After seeing all the hype on social media, I finally made it in on my second attempt! My first try was on a weekend, but the wait time was over two hours. The establishment itself is cute, and we ordered the regular chilaquiles and the divorciados. Both dishes were fantastic--the flavors were spot on, and the presentation was beautiful. Definitely worth the wait and the price. That said, there are a couple of things I didn't like. The space is super tight, with tables so close together that I ended up overhearing someone else's entire conversation, haha! And the parking situation was horrible, which might be the biggest reason I hesitate to come back.

Helen V.

Yelp
I recently visited Cielito Cafe for brunch and ordered the chilaquiles, and it did not disappoint! This was a very filling plate, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a hearty brunch option. I opted for the green sauce, but be warned--if you have a low spice tolerance, this one is extremely spicy! The dish also came with an egg, which added a nice touch. However, I do want to mention that the wait for our food was quite long, so be prepared for that. They do have both inside and outside seating, which is nice to pick from.

Diana S.

Yelp
I love this cute cafe for brunch! Parking: Not great, you can only park in the lot next door on Sundays, otherwise it's only street parking. Reservations: None, so be prepared to wait during peak times, especially on the weekends. You have to wait outside (with minimal seating) so come prepared to stand out in the hot sun while you're waiting for a table. Atmosphere: The inside dining area can get pretty loud so if you come with a large group of people it may be difficult to have conversations all together. There is also a small outdoor dining area that is dog friendly. Food: My favorites are the molletes and the nopalitos. I've also had their menudo soup (only served on the weekends) and it was sooo good. The food here is always fresh and delicious. Drinks: I love their cafe de coco, the coconut flakes really complement the coffee. They do not serve any alcohol here. Overall, a great breakfast place and I definitely want to come back here to try their lunch items.

Yelp
12-18-24. Tkt # 6 Order # 153622 NO parking available. Parked on street and was trapped by car in front of me and behind me. Tables are too small, and too close together. Had to ask for spoon for my coffee. Over priced for minimal food served. I went alone, ticket indicates guest: 3. Food was good but not enough to justify $19.95 worth. I will NOT be returning on my own conation. I did not get any salsa, was not offered any salsa...

Katherine M.

Yelp
I see why the line is constantly out the door! The food was delicious, the service was so kind, and this cute cafe is adorable! I definitely want to come back and eat more of their menu!

Tracy K.

Yelp
I've been to this place several times and loved it each time! However, the only thing that I don't love about this place is the long wait. You either have to go on a weekday or right when they open on the weekends to avoid the wait. Every single time that I go here, I order the same thing - chilaquiles and cafe de coco! It's consistent every time and delicious! Staff are efficient especially since they have to turn tables over quickly. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a huge party unless you don't mind waiting!

Radhika P.

Yelp
Cielito Cafe was one of the most home-y places I have ever visited (literally, it's in a house)! From the hostess to the waitress, everyone was beyond nice and helpful. They were so busy and yet so attentive. The food was delicious. Enjoyed my cafe de coco, not too overwhelming with the coconut flavor but wish I would have gotten it iced. With the chilaquiles, I'm glad I got to choose red and green where versus just one. It added a good balance between mild and spicy. Their chips and salsa app comes with 4 sauces which was great flavor for each of them!

Jorge H.

Yelp
I am completely impressed with this place, from the moment you walk in they make you feel welcome with a very energetic greeting. You can tell they really try their best to make their guest feel welcomed. The server was super friendly and did not rush me at all when I asked for extra time to look at the menu as I was indecisive about what I wanted. He took my order with a smile when I finally decided what I wanted. I have to say, the food is very very fresh and it tastes delicious. In a city with nothing but Tex Mex it is nice to find a spot like this one, where you can find Mex with minimal Tex. The chilaquiles were super tasty, the sauce had a kick to it but was super good as well. You can also substitute the egg for egg whites (for an upcharge) which I believe is a very cool option to offer. I will definitely go back and visit them again, the only thing I have to warn prospective guests about is the parking situation. Be ready to look for parking, as the parking lot next to it belongs to another establishment.

Samantha M.

Yelp
Definitely DO NOT RECC going on a Sunday. This was my second time visiting and it was just the complete opposite experience as my first time. I was quoted 40 mins and waited over an hour before I finally decided to just leave. We are forced to wait outside in the heat and they wouldn't even offer to give a call when ready for us so we can sit in the air conditioner. They also have a check mark system- where if you check in with the hostess you get another check mark. Not sure what that means- I feel they intentionally made up wait longer for checking in a few times. Head here if you wanna wait all day and have a hard time finding parking !

Dominique N.

Yelp
The food and drinks are really good and tasty! They have good brunch food with creative drinks and desserts. However, if you are going on the weekend it can be a long wait, and it's hot out there right now! They don't allow reservations on the weekend so we showed up and put our names on a list, but we learned they had call ahead (not listed on the website) so there were a lot of people not waiting outside on the list before us. Our quoted wait time of 20 minutes was over an hour. Additionally, since there are a lot of people coming in and out, there is a push for you to eat and get out. It can be understandable since the space is small, but with all of this in mind, I would both call ahead and be ready to potentially wait outside.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
We visited this little restaurant but cozy and amazing place. The waiting time: We were so lucky less than 5 minutes. Food Quality: I will recommend coco coffee if you love coffee. The conchas (the sweet bread) my favorite! The food was delicious. I had the Chilaquiles rojos y verdes little spicy for my taste and the French Toast very good too. Overall, we had a great experience the service was excellent. We definitely recommend.

Briane J.

Yelp
I chose this place for brunch while visiting my beautiful home city m, H Town! I arrived before my friend and out us on the waitlist. They operate off writing your name on paper and they call your name outside so you may be forced to stand in the elements for your table. We went on a Sunday and the parking lot next door may belong to a business across the street other days of the week? Even then, the lot was full no matter what so luckily I got a space to sit in the car and check our name on the list but parking can be difficult, be prepared! Once we got our table, the inside is very intimate, I found it charming. From our table, I could see the kitchen. Our server was impatient and seemed annoyed we didn't decide fast enough, never refilled our waters, and forgot parts of our meal. That was single handedly the element that tainted some of our experience. I overall enjoyed my food, I was torn between something sweet or savory. I got the Cajeta toast and felt like the serving was perfect. Not too much, not too little and the toast was so good. I would come back again but the waitlist situation could be revised in light that many restaurant do electronic notifications. If one plans to bring someone elderly or disabled, be prepared. Especially sice Houston is HOUSTON. I felt overwhelmed the amount of people fanning themselves under the tree and this one elderly woman in a wheelchair with her family.

Amanda C.

Yelp
This is my second time here. Both times, the wait has been more than forty-five minutes but it's been worth it thus far. Both times have been on a Sunday morning so not sure how busy they are during the week. My biggest complaint is they do not serve handmade flour tortillas. They do have really good chilaquiles. I recommend the red sauce. A suggestion to the owner, consider outsourcing to a local company like La Reina or even HEB for fresh flower tortillas.

Josefina M.

Yelp
I came to Cielito Cafe for a birthday brunch! The food and service was a solid 10/10! The wait was not too long, about 15/20 mins... but in this Texas summer heat it felt like an eternity! Lol! The ambience is nice, it is a small place but very cozy and chic.

Alexsandra N.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place. Every time I would drive by there would be a huge line and wait to eat there. I went there for brunch, and we were sat in probably the worst spot, especially with two kids. It was cold that day, and they put us at the first table, only a few inches away from the entrance. I would not have minded so much, but the door would literally open every 5 to 10 seconds, nonstop, for the entire duration we were there. It was quite distracting and cold. I think there should not be a table for customers to sit at right close to the door, especially if it's a that high of a traffic area. I ordered the molletes with a sunny side egg. It came out on soggy, not crispy, bread. The egg on top was fried dry, which to me sunny side means runny, but perhaps they made a mistake. I would give it a 2/10. Nonetheless, I was not enjoying any of it. I reluctantly decorated to send it back and even offered to pay for it, I just wanted to eat something I was going to enjoy. The waitress was kind enough to take it back and not let me pay for it, which was a nice gesture. I ended up ordering the green chilaquiles. By this time this pregnant lady was on the verge of hangry, so I forgot to take a picture. I ate it, but was still not impressed. I would give it a 3/5. The plate just lacked overall flavor. It did not a good ratio of egg and salsa to chip crisps either. I hate giving this low of Q score to a place that seems to be pretty popular around here, but both of the plates I ordered were just not good. Definitely not worth waiting for. I'm not knocking off any stars for where they sat us, it's just for the food. I do wish they would consider moving the tables around and not putting a table right next to the door. I doubt I'm the only one that has an issue with that seating arrangement. The outside patio is cute though! If it's a nice day, I would recommend sitting out there.

Libby H.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for so long and so happy I finally did it! There is usually a big wait but we came around 10 am and the wait was pretty short. It looked like people started waiting a while around 11:30 ish/12. The ambiance is cozy - whether outside or inside. There were some flies outside but they accommodated us with fans which really helped them to stay away. The service was overall a bit slower - so come here if you are not in a rush/can savor and take your time with your meal! Although a bit slower, the workers are all very sweet and nice! The food was great as well! I got sopes with a side of potatoes and really enjoyed both red and green sauces to go with it. The red sauce has a good kick! The cajeta toast was also so delicious. The condensed milk and cajeta/caramel on top made the twist on a regular French toast so amazing! Absolutely will be back.

Quonesha J.

Yelp
This place is always a pleasure! True and authentic flavor and spices. I always have to order a verde juice no matter what. This is a small place so be prepared to wait for a while after you check in, but I guarantee you it is definitely worth the wait!

ali g.

Yelp
To get a table is a process and it does take a while. But the food tastes really fresh and the best part it tastes home cooked. You feel like your mom or Tia is cooking at the back and making you breakfast. The waiters were very pleasant and friendly. The Chilaquiles were to die for.

Mery I.

Yelp
This place is cute and cozy old house turned into a restaurant, their specialty is Mexican brunch/lunch dishes, with a down home vibe located in Houston Mid Town "the heart of the city". We tried chilaquiles, avocado toast, breakfast tacos and concha sandwich (Yes a sandwich in a sweet Mexican roll) that was my favorite, arroz con leche dessert was delish and coconut coffee was so good, they also have a really nice selection of aguas frescas, be aware you might have to wait 30 minutes or so to get a table during the weekend, it gets busy and seating is limited. Staff is very nice considering the place is super busy. I'll definitely come Back to try more menu items.

Tania M.

Yelp
The service is great. The moment I walked in, I felt like I I was walking I to my mexican friends mom's home. The smell of warm food and coffee hits and transports me back there. I tried the coconut coffee, which was fabulous, and I miss it already. The oatmeal made with cashew milk was actually a perk to have it was heartwarming and edible for someone lactose intolerant, and my belly was happy. All of the dishes I tried were so good I can't wait to return with my family this weekend.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
I truly had higher hopes for this spot. Despite of the numerous recommendations for this restaurant. I do want to start off that the parking is horrible. There's clearly a parking lot right next to the restaurant unfortunately it's for a different business. I had to park on the street if you're lucky to find something nearby. There was no wait time which was great sat inside and greeted right away. Our drink order was taken and appetizer. I wanted their agua fresca of the day and a caramelo (Iced coffee). They ran out of their agua so went in for a Mexican coke. Caramelo was super watered down, no flavor whatsoever. Maybe next time that I give this restaurant another try, I'd have to swing by earlier. Moving on to the appetizer, we got their Chicharrones. Probably the best thing I had there. Fresh out the grease and great crunch to them. Definitely a 10/10. Entrees; Pambazo, first time trying it. I think overall it was super good added chorizo to it. I personally would not get it with chorizo again it was a little salty for my likings. Tres quesadillas azules, we got one of chicken tinga, chicharrón, and chorizo. Out of all three the chicharrón had the best flavor. Chicharrón was in salsa verde and the tortillas were amazing. Now for the tings & chorizo it was okay. Not a fan of tinga as is but didn't lack flavor. I think the chorizo was just overall salty. Enchiladas Michoacánas, this dish was standard. Good flavor but it was cold. I couldn't enjoy it fully. I want to try this spot again like I stated earlier, maybe at an earlier time. Parking, oh well not much you can do about that. The staff were nice, they did check in before closing the kitchen down if we wanted to order more food. Inside is cute and tiny, nothing special. One thing we sat right by the door so the constant opening and closing of the door got annoying, I should've asked to sit somewhere else to avoid that. Hopefully next time it's better!

Rob R.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this restaurant. It was quite the experience. I went in cautiously optimistic and it exceeded my expectations! I parked half a block away and as I walked up to the restaurant which looks like an unassuming house, I was hit by the aroma of potent Mexican ingredients. As I opened the door, I was greeted by a very friendly waitstaff who welcomed me into the cozy and pleasant dining area. I sat at a table in the corner near a window, where I could take in the whole experience. I was instantly transported to my days as a child sitting in my grandmother's cocina (kitchen), watching her cook and make tortillas. I knew this was going to be good. I wanted to try several things, so I ordered a variety of plates and thoroughly enjoyed watching the waiters eyes get wider every time I ordered another dish. Never one to disappoint in the shock department, I continued to order with the intention of eating everything. I started off with a water and a coffee. I drank the coffee black and let me tell you, that coffee was strong enough to knock my socks off, just the way I like it. I ordered an agua fresca with the melon and pepino flavors combined. This was so refreshing, I felt like going for a run after drinking it. I then ordered an appetizer of chicharrones. Hands down the best chicharrones I have had in Houston. They came out fresh and hot, still crackling and popping like rice crispies but oh so much more delicious! The seasoning was just right, and the combination of being a bit oily with a super crunch was perfect. Next I ordered a plate of chilaquiles. I ordered the verde (green) and rojo (red) mixed. I would have to say that although I liked both, the verde was the star of the show! The spiciness and heat of the sauce was flawlessly combined with the crispy yet tender chips. How do they do that? Combined with an over easy egg, crema and queso fresco and I was on cloud nine! I then dug into the Bandera. A three egg omelette with chorizo inside. The chorizo was cooked to perfection, not over or undercooked but magnificently cooked with the papas on the side. I felt like I was at home enjoying a homemade breakfast. Lastly, I sampled the cajeta toast. I don't even really ever order French toast but the mention of caramelized goat's milk and bacon piqued my curiosity. I was not disappointed. What an amazing combination. Definitely glad I ordered that. After the explosion of flavor I had just experienced, the vibe of feeling at home and the super friendly waitstaff. I had to give Cielito Café five stars! I'll be back, so get those plates ready because I'm going to order even more next time!

Taylor C.

Yelp
First time here! Small place but very cozy and nice lighting. Kind and fast service as well. Food was absolutely delicious and tasted light and fresh. It was a perfect portion too I didn't get anything else. Parking wise it's not the best and especially if you come at a busy time. I've seen lines outside. Not much to say but it was genuinely good sopes and I felt very happy after lol. I will for sure be back.

Esther R.

Yelp
Not worth the hype! The place is super small and very uncomfortable to dine in. Tables are crammed one on top of each other and the line to pay goes around making it even more crowded. The food came out very fast and it was ok. IMO very overpriced for the what it is and for the portions. Had multiple servers trying to help which in theory sound like a good plan but it wasn't as all they wanted was for you to shove your food down and leave. Quite uncomfortable. Don't waste your time and money!

Adam C.

Yelp
Small and cozy little cafe. It's crowded, no other way to put it. But it's very clean and stylish. It was a bit warm inside; they only one of the two minisplit ACs running. The food was delicious. We tried the chips and salsas - good stuff. Wish the containers of salsa were a bit bigger; almost too small to dip your chip into. Wife had the Tradicionale breakfast. She liked it alot, and the sausage was delicious. I had the Eggs Divorciado. Very good. Although my over easy eggs weren't cooked enough for my taste. If you don't like any runny egg white, better order over medium. Coffee too was very good. Just the regular coffee but it had a great flavor. If I were in the area again I would definitely eat there again.

Daphne A.

Yelp
This experience was okay. The last time we came, the French toast knocked it out of the park. This time, we tried more of the menu, and it was just fine. Coming early to the cafe meant we didn't have a long wait, which we were happy with. However, I've often seen lines and groups of customers waiting around for some time before getting a spot. I don't mind that the space is small or that it's full - but just be aware that you may have to wait a little at peak hours, outside in the heat. I didn't feel that my molletes breakfast had a balance of flavor. The chorizo tasted bitter and salty, and the toast was soft. I think it would have been better with a crisper toast (so it wasn't all mushy) and with some lime (to counter the saltiness and fattiness). My eggs were cooked perfectly! However, because the molletes were already fatty and salty, the eggs made it nearly inedible - it was better without them though, so I took them off. The churros we really loved, and I thought the cafe de coco drink was super nice - this place does sweet really well. I would recommend the sweet side of the menu moreso than the rest.

sarah d.

Yelp
The food is so yum! Parking is a hassle & the waiting takes forever but the food, customer service, & aesthetic atmosphere make it all worthwhile!!

Joe R.

Yelp
Great spot. Super warm neighborly spot. Service is attentive. Juices are fresh. Food is solid.

Michael G.

Yelp
Cielito translates to little heaven and that is what this place is... a small slice of heaven The place itself is small and brings liveliness when you walk in and sit down. From the service to the food everything was a great experience as I was visiting from out of town. (Downside is the wait time but it is worth the wait) shout out to the host who is so engaging and checking in on us Sat down and was greater by an amazing server who asked if we had any questions around the menu We began our amazing food experience with chicharrones and elote. The salsa that comes with the chicharrones is phenomenal and compliments them so well The elote is decadent a great blend flavors as there is melted cheese in between each kernel created a depth in textures as well For the mains we got the Cielito sandwich the divorciados and avocado toast The Cielito sandwich was such a sweet and savory sandwich as a bacon egg and cheese is placed in between a soft baked concha bread which brings this sweetness to the meal The juegos divorciados were perfectly executed as you have a fried egg over a fried tortilla with one being covered in a red salsa and the other in a green salsa paired with chorizo it is just a filling breakfast The avocado toast was perhaps one of the best executed avocado toast I have had in a while with fresh avocado and some fresh cut sweet peppers it was the perfect balance The fresh juices were phenomenal to pair with the food and brought a refreshing taste to it all Wait times are a bit long but I would suggest to wait it is definitely worth it

Yelp
Went on Wednesday morning. Cielito cafe is located in the Montrose area. It is definitely hard to find a park because there is no designated parking space for Cielito Cafe other than available street parking near by. Upon finally getting a parking spot, there were a lot of people on the inside as the place looks like it was a house converted into a restaurant. You will be sitting elbow to elbow if you eat inside the restaurant and it was very loud inside. We decided to place a to-go order. We ordered breakfast tacos. My wife order turkey sausage tacos & i ordered pork sausage tacos. The order took awhile to come out but eventually came out. On our breakfast tacos it was no specification of which one was turkey sausage & which was pork sausage. My wife and I both ate our tacos & tasted each others & they were both pork sausage tacos. My wife cannot eat pork so I went inside to get tell the cashier lady I forgot her name but I believe her name was Mariana. I let her know what happened & she did not argue with me about which one was which but gave me my refund and told me I could keep the food. She only charged me for the lemonade cucumber drink which was so refreshing. The food tasted good though ! The breakfast tacos were fresh, real eggs, homemade tortillas, & fresh sausage (pork). The orange sauce was a great addition as well, it had a bit of spice to it, but nothing overbearing if your not a spice person. The fruit was fresh and the refried black beans were super fresh and refried to perfection. For me the lemonade cucumber drink was the highlight! I might be biased because I love fused drinks. But the drink is definitely a must get ! Overall give it a try !

Yelp
Wasn't worth the trip came from Sugar Land, I was super excited to visit from seeing social media posts and I was disappointed. Service wasn't really helpful nor did I have anyone check on my table during my visit. Outdoor seating was tight I felt like I had to whisper to my partner to hold a conversation. Food was mid, order chicken tinga tostadas. Chicken was very dry even though it was covered in sauce. Also ordered the flautas and was disappointed that the flautas were dry and didn't have salsa poured over food. The parking is insane, the parking on site was only valet and you can't park in the huge parking lot on the property because it belongs to a neighbor location.

Yelp
Omg this little hole in the wall deserves so much recognition. My only issue is parking. I'd only recommend visiting on a Sunday because of that. I ordered the divorciados but substituted the chorizo for turkey sausage. Everything was so flavorful. The customer service was amazing as well. The interior of the restaurant is very intimate and homey, which I loved. I'd def recommend this restaurant as I plan to visit again myself.

Yelp
I really really wanted to love this place. We've attempted to have brunch here several times but with the lack of parking and long wait times we hadn't been successful until today. I came on a Friday at 10am and circled around for parking several times until a street spot opened up. The weather was raining and terrible so I think that worked in our favor so we didn't have to wait. The place is a little small house turned into the cafe. The seating area is so small so everyone close can hear each other or you have to adjust seating to let people walk by. I will say the food was delicious and that's what saved the day. There's the standard chilaquiles, flautas, sopa, and a fun concha sandwich. The price was a little much for the portions being so small. Again cute quaint place worth visiting if the timing is right but for the rave, maybe not so worth it. Appreciate the idea and the food but not worth it to me.

Yelp
I had a coffee with the molletes and my wife had a coffee with the chilaquiles. The coffee was good not great but the food was delicious, especially the chorizo on the molletes. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the place was very small and tight. We were sat literally next to the restroom door and our waitress forgot to take our order in so it took a while for us to get our food. The manager did come out and apologize so that was nice of them. All in all I would recommend it and will definitely be back.

Yelp
Zero parking, spot is overhyped and food is mid at best. Price gouging is insane. Portions are less than generous for the amount of money you're paying for each plate.

Yelp
Sweet spot for breakfast. Though I did feel the portions were a bit smaller than I am used to. They should add a little more of everything. I totally loved the chillaquiles. If you come here a love a little spice in life you will like them. We also ordered rice pudding. It was very filling. For drinks, ordered coffee, I loved that they offered french vanilla creamer. Not a lot of places normally offer it when it comes to mom n pops restaurants. Now for the atmosphere, I would of given it 5, BUT... parking is extremely limited. There's a parking lot right next door, but it belongs to another business.

Yelp
Both the Chilaquiles and Divociados were new to me but they flavors did not disappoint. One thing liked was the different flavors of Divorciados. The different flavors made the eating so enjoyable so I never got bored of my food which I often do during brunch. The service was fast and helpful. The ambience was very friendly. I loved the natural lighting and different chairs. Felt homey but social.

Yelp
The food is 5/5 but going there for brunch on a Sunday? Expect to wait about an hour. Even if they say the wait will be 20 minutes, it'll probably be an hour. Going on a weekday would probably be faster. It was just SO busy on Sunday that the service was also pretty slow. But busy means the place has great food, right? Absolutely!! I had a bowl of menudo and an appetizer that I can't find on the online menus. The appetizer was a sweet corn flour-based pancake with cheese and cream, with spicy salsa on the side. Both were delish!! The menudo was spicy and hearty, perfect for a hungry gal like me. I also annihilated the appetizer, which was full of flavor especially with the salsa. To cool down my mouth after the menudo I ordered the green juice (Verde), which was refreshing and sweet--felt healthy too! :p The atmosphere is very family-friendly and cozy--it looks like they repurposed a regular home and made it a restaurant! So cute. Would love to come again on a day when the wait won't be almost an hour long. Or maybe I'll snack more before I go next time. Parking situation: on-site but limited; could also do street parking

Yelp
the food here is really good! the plates are a good size. we went there on a sunday and there was a wait time but it went by quick. the staff is really nice and they all work together to provide a good service. it is a house style restaurant so it is small in there and quite loud but the food makes it worth it. will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Lovely little trip down memory lane coming here to Cielito Cafe. Reminded me of going to my Tía's restaurant as a kid in the 90's. The converted heritage home on Dunlavy does give you the family feeling when you sit down in what used to be someone's living room. The service was quite quick, as I assume they need to turn tables over quickly since there is very little to no parking for them. It's maybe the one downside, but if you're familiar with the area you kinda expect it. Food was very much what you'd expect from a home cook, and I mean that in a good way. It's the breakfast dishes you grew up with in a Mexican family. There are a good bit of options from heavy to light and savory to sweet. chilaquiles were great and I liked the toastada de aguacate. Also tried the chocolate de olla which was homemade in the less good way. My guess is that it was just Abuelita's.

Yelp
Fully enjoyed this Cielito! When we visited we tried the chicken tinga tacos, toasted bunelo w/ chorizo , chilaquiles verde and arroz con leche . It was all good! The wait wasn't long at all and hostesses friendly. For service our waiter was friendly she did forget a few of our items but was quick to remediate. For beverages we had the green juice it was refreshing and just what you need in the Houston heat. Parking is hard to get if you go at a busy time as the parking lot next door is for the business across the street. But again worth it. I didn't give them five starts only cause some of the dishes we had we have had better versions but they are still worth a try.

Yelp
The restaurant has a cute, homey feel and the owner is such a sweetheart! We ordered the Huevos Divorciados, Cajeta Toast, Sopes, and Cafe de Coco. I don't normally order drinks, but I noticed everyone was getting it, and it did not disappoint! The Cajeta Toast was cutely played and had a great Mexican style of sweetness to it. The Sopes and Huevos divorciados were amazing! The salsas that it came with were nice and spicy. The only downsides (which were kind of major) were that they do not have any parking, and they do not take reservations. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes but it ended up being 1.5 hours.

Yelp
Buen servicio y la muchacha que nos atendió nos fue amable. Hay para sentarse afuera pero adentro estaba un poquito apretadito. Los chilaquiles estaban deliciosos en salsa verde y también recomiendo los churros. 10/10

Yelp
Omg! My friend and I went here for breakfast the other day. The meal was absolutely delicious. The server Olga was wonderful and made great recommendations for the meal. I love how cozy the restaurant was. I will be back.

Yelp
Cielito Café has been on my list to try for quite some time. I wish I had made it sooner! Parking.....oooooh, parking in Houston. This is one of those neighborhood gems that has very little parking. It's a nightmare, to be honest. Most of their parking lot that is directly adjacent to the buildingh is actually for The Guild Shop across the street. However, I was able to find a spot about a block and a half down the street. This is a popular spot! So, of course you're going to wait. I signed in with the cashier inside and was told that the wait would be about 35 minutes. My common sense should have known better going by the almost entire page of names ahead of mine. I was quite irritated by what looked like several groups getting seated even though they arrived after me. We ended up waiting about an hour. Helpful hint: I found out as we were paying that you can call when you are on your way and have your name put on the list. We tried the Cafe De Coco: (Non-dairy) coconut inspired coffee with organic coconut oil & coconut milk. While it wasn't 'sweet,' I usually add sugar to my coffee, bit it wasn't really necessary with this. And, the coconut flavor is just a hint. I would order it again. I had the chilaquiles verde - rojo is also an option. (Lightly fried chips cooked with your choice of green or red homemade sauces, drizzled with mexican cream, queso fresco, one egg, & avocado. Served with black beans & fruit.) So good! The green sauce was flavorful, slightly tabgy and had the slightest hint of spice. I wish I had gotten more refried beans and maybe one more aliver of avocado. I didn't get any fruit, but I didn't know that I was supposed to. Haha I will certainly be back over and over again to try out all of the scrumptious-sounding authentic Mexican dishes! (And, I will call ahead to add my name to the list.)
