Yelp
I'm updating my review because I feel like this place has gotten tremendously better since I last wrote a review. They have really improved the logistics and operations. Sometimes I still feel like the wait is a bit long if I'm the only person in the restaurant and all the people behind the counter are ignoring me and working on to go orders, but I'll overlook that.
The salad dressing no longer leaks out of the container on the way home. The bread is now very tasty (very good job) and I think that their creativity with salads is impressive. I was pleasantly surprised to find how filling and good their Keto salad was over the spring and am happy they will still make it for me even though it's no longer on the menu.
I also think the workers attitudes are much better. I no longer get eye roles if I ask for no cheese. I'll give a 5 star for all the work I'm sure you guys put into making this place work.
nice job improving!
Previous Review (2 Stars):
Let me start out by saying that I REALLY REALLY want this place to be better than it is. I desperately wanted a salad place since I moved here. I used to frequent Chopt for years, and this is nowhere close to Chopt.
To make sure I was giving this place a fair shot before writing this, I've gone 7 times. So yes, this is an honest review and not just based on one bad experience.
The good:
- Food is fresh, and it doesn't seem like they are using too many packaged vegetables that are present in most salad bars
- They have a rotating seasonal menu which adds options and excitement
- It's a salad place and frankly we need one to make up for all of the fast food and chain restaurants around here
- I love their Spicy Tahini dressing
The bad:
- The logistics still need work. Almost every time I go, there is some confusion about who is waiting on me, what it should cost, and who is checking me out. This has gotten better but can be annoying when there are a lot of people.
- They don't customize and act like you are the most demanding customer ever if you ask for say, "cheese on the side" - did you ever see the MadTV sketch about a "complicated order" making fun of burger king? Well this place is literally just like that. So if I am lactose intolerant (as I am) but am sharing my salad (as I do), then I am a difficult customer. What makes the least sense about this is that they literally have cups right there on the assembly line that the cheese or any ingredient can be put into. This makes me so frustrated I can't even tell you. Here's the thing: SALADS are one of the meals that SHOULD be customized! They are not pre-made, you are ordering off a buffet style line, etc.
- This is comical, but here goes, the cap to the dressing cups don't actually fit. So it is guaranteed that if you so much as make a sharp turn on the way home, that the dressing will spill all over the car. This has happened to me 2x and now I bring my own container. Come on people. This is amateur.
- The container for the dressing is wayyyyyyyyyyy too small. And if you ask for 2 dressings, you may get a dirty look or confused look or overall rolled eye. This is just so confusing.
- The bread is like wheat version wonder bread that they have ripped in half. It's gross. Why bother?
- The romaine lettuce always has a ton of "ribs" in it so if you don't like to have to chew a million times, order a different type of lettuce. They should really take an extra couple of minutes to get rid of all the ribs. It kind of reminds me of the packaged lettuce so maybe it isn't fresh?
- They don't give an indication of this when you are in line ordering so here's a tip: Each type of chicken is a different price. So if you order "chicken" as an add on, and you go by the menu, it's $2.00; however if you get marinated chicken, it's double that amount. I'm not quite sure how that makes sense but I always make sure to ask. Oh! And the non-meat, fake chicken is even more.
For me, I am not going back for a long time as I was dissatisfied too many times but maybe in time I'll try again in the hopes that they improve these things. It's a shame because as I said, I was a daily Chopt customer and had such high hopes!
