The Culinary Delights Hiding Below, Inside, and Above Government Buildings

"Breeze through the metal detectors, open up your bag for a quick search, and stop to admire the main hall before heading to the elevator. Once you arrive at Justizcafe—tucked on the roof of Vienna’s Palace of Justice—you’ll be served lunch surrounded by lawyers, judges, and a 360-degree view of Vienna’s city center. This gem of a workplace eatery exists primarily for those taking a break from court, but it’s also quietly accessible to the general public. From the German Renaissance–style palace’s outdoor terrace, well-informed travelers can bask in unrestricted views of Vienna’s historic Ring Road, Austrian Parliament, the Hofburg Imperial Palace, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral.  Meals are surprisingly affordable (8 to 12 euros), but food is no afterthought. Chef Ivo Brnjic, who has cooked for celebrities such as Prince Charles, helms the kitchen. Diners are offered a choice of three rotating menu options made with simple, fresh ingredients. After an epicurean lunch with spectacular views, the Palace of Justice’s rich history and stunning architecture might just seem like a bonus." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

One of the best hidden gem in Vienna. You can access the rooftop cafeteria. The price is reasonable especially for menu of the day. Various of cakes and drinks available also.

You often read about hidden gems, and then it isn’t really. But this is the real deal! Check out the amazing front hall, then grab the elevator to the fifth floor for a really delicious and inexpensive lunch! Get there early to avoid dishes being sold out

Incredible view of the city and a nice place to take pictures. Unfortunately small variety when it comes to food selection but on the bright side very budget friendly in comparison with other food options in Vienna. The officer at the front was very friendly but is a little inconvenient.

Good luck getting inside. Twice I was turned away by the passive-agressive security. First they didn't allow backpacks, then I came back without one and my mask wasn't up to par. Both times the guard was very rude, told me to "leave my bag in the street for all he cares." The second time as I was about to ask about the proper mask, he says "We're closed," even though he just let people inside and they're advertised as open for another hour. I'm just trying to spend my money on your products, so sorry to inconvenience you. Unreal.

Hearty food with amazing city views. The food at Justizcafe is simple but hearty. Great place for a lunch break with the locals. We had the Wiener schnitzel, the brocoli soup and an apple strudel. Very good value for money I highly recommended it.

If you are not a researcher when looking for places to visit in Vienna, this has to be one of the most amazing places I've visited in Vienna!!!!!!!! X100,000,000,000. I felt very humbled by entering the building once we passed security. The security process is spot on and is there to protect everyone and not sure why it has been down voted. On the 5th floor is the terrace where the Justicecafe is located. If you just want coffee or cake or breakfast or lunch, I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy every second. We took our one year old and I had a moment with my coffee and the view. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

First of all, wonderful view from the terrace. I really appreciated that it is open even in the winter months, when there are no tables/chairs, so you can enjoy the view without eating anything. Regarding the menu, food prices are adequate, but beverages are in general overpriced. When going there, use the opportunity and walk through the Palace of Justice, it is definitely worth it.

On the first day we tried to get in, the security guard on the front door told us it was closed even though the caffe bar was still open. He didn’t seem to want to give us further information and after insisting on getting information for the following day, he told us to go back the following day. So we did when we found the same gentleman at the front door. He again didn’t let us in and, in a not very polite way, he told us we had to leave. It made us feel as we were not wanted in the building for a reason we still can not understand. It was an awful service.
