"JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul is uniquely positioned to offer a perfect blend of urban convenience and the beauty of autumn. Located near iconic spots like Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and Heunginjimun Park, the hotel provides easy access to hidden gems where the vibrant autumn foliage can be admired amidst the city's hustle and bustle. The Best Hotels in the World: 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards

"Few skyline views are quite like those at the JW Marriott in Dongdaemun Square. Dongdaemun means the Great East Gate, one of the famed Eight Gates of Seoul, and the Joseon era landmark stands proudly atop the hustle and bustle of modern Seoul. The property itself features glass-encased executive suites, a white marble indoor pool, and five deluxe in-house dining options ranging from Korean barbecue to intricately designed pastries and soju mojitos at the piano lounge. But perhaps the hotel’s greatest asset is its convenient access to Seoul—the Dongdaemun subway station has an entrance internal to the hotel where guests are just five minutes away from downtown proper." - CNT Editors

I cannot begin to describe the level of amazing service we experienced here. Beginning from Jessica and Ben at check in, who always greeted us with a smile and kind words, they made every time we stepped back into the lobby like coming home to family. Justin in Tavolo 24 made us feel special on our last morning by presenting us with a dessert and card. Eight nights at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun flew by and we didn’t want to leave. Every aspect of the hotel was so clean and deliberate in aesthetics. Our room was spacious and even the housekeeping ladies were always so sweet. We enjoyed the executive lounge every night, as well. The hostesses and wait staff were very nice and the food and desserts were a treat. The location is excellent and walkable to many places including the Gwangjang Market and Insadong Street. This hotel ranks as one of the top hotels I’ve stayed in especially due to the service. Thank you for making our stay so relaxing. My mom, my daughter and myself enjoyed every moment.

My husband and I just spent 11 wonderful nights in this outstanding hotel and have nothing but 5-star comments for every aspect of it. The central location can't be beat with easy access to the subway and many of Seoul's most interesting areas. And, it overlooks historic Dongdaemun Gate and a section of the Old City Wall. The staff here is exceptional in every way. Warm & friendly throughout (front desk, room service, front door attendants, dining room, the spa, The Griffin Bar, etc.), the staff is remarkable across the boards. Call for ice delivery to your room and they're there in 90 seconds--and there's no charge! The main breakfast area--Tavolo24--offers a magnificent daily breakfast buffet that includes 5 food stations--American/Western, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese (pho). Fantastic food is served at all of them every day. If your reservation includes use of the Executive Lounge, the 10th floor features a complimentary cocktail hour in a private setting complete with hot food and snacks every evening from 5pm-7pm with an open bar. There's a nice terrace off this area with superb views over Seoul. We can't wait to stay here again. Highly recommended!!

JW is 5 star because of excellent assistance and service from the Conceirge to bellboy!Oliver recommended and assisted us to book a nice dinner venue for my family at Seokparang. He even initiated to assist me in booking a cab.Mason helped us with the luggage. He even took initiative to ask us for our airport transfer car plate number so he can keep a lookout for us. He even initiated to ask us to sit inside the hotel lobby while he kept a lookout for us. As he understood we are rushing to catch the flight, he even helped us to translate to the cab uncle to hurry for us.All of them speak fluent English, are very warm hearted and takes initiative in offering excellent service with genuine smiles. Our hearts are deeply grateful to them. 5 star 🌟 because of them.4 star for the rooms don’t have Netflix. It would be great if the family can gather over Netflix entertainment. Small issue though as the service more than cover up for everything! :) We were offered a nice river view which was romantic! Very clean hotel.Location is excellent as train station and direct bus airport limousine is just by the hotel. Great connectivity. Will definitely revisit this hotel again.

The hotel is beautifully positioned opposite Dongdaemun square. At night it is stunning to see over the area all lit up.|Train station is very accessible through a walkway from the hotel itself. Suggest you don’t use the train during rush hour as you can get squashed in and possibly miss your stop. Though it was an experience which we enjoyed.||They have a bar called the Griffin. The drinks are expensive but do try it just once as it’s so worth it. A lovely jazz band playing with the balcony area looking over the starry lit up Dongdaemun.| |The staff are very helpful and courteous. We had a club access room and the room was large and bed very comfortable. The club lounge was very very nice though a wider range of food would’ve been better. Our thanks to Amy and all the lounge staff for their impeccable customer service. Jessica, David and all on the front desk and of course Mason at the front door a Chelsea supporter. Thank you all for making our stay memorable and hopefully we will come back soon.

Stayed here with family while on vacation for about 5 nights. Overall the service was great, the staff were friendly and helpful with planning some of the activities we wanted to do, arranging taxis, etc. They also provided a generous welcome gift. The facilities were some of the best I've seen from a hotel. They offered a fully equipped gym, a golfing simulator, a pool and a hot tub. The breakfast offered a wide selection of foods both western and Korean. Location was decent but not the best for all the tourist activities we looked to do. The main drawback of the hotel was the rooms. They were smaller than I'd expect for a luxury hotel and had a strange layout that varied by room. The bathroom was a good size but felt just as large as the main room. The room was updated and included modern tech like a tablet for controlling the curtains.

Amazing service with a large international breakfast selection. Service is truly next level. Room are extremely comfortable and the hotel has a metro station attached. We set up a DMZ tour through the hotel and had an amazing experience. Will be back

We took a long trip from the United States to South Korea and the Philippines, and this was the second Marriott hotel that disappointed me. I reviewed the other hotel under their name that was in the Philippines. This hotel had great food options and their lounge was amazing, but the shortcoming came at the pool and how I was treated as a woman in this hotel. When we arrived at the very pretty pool area, we were asked to shower, which we did. It did not go unnoticed that there were only men in the pool while about four women guest sat in the lounge chairs. When entering the pool, literally climbing the steps, a member of staff ran up to me and told me that I was not allowed to enter the pool without putting on a hair cap. I don’t understand why she didn’t tell me this when she first asked us to shower, but my assumption was that she didn’t think I would be going in the pool and that just my boyfriend would be and I would sit at the pool side, like the rest of the women. I have very long hair, which is impossible to fit into a pool cap and I’m pretty sure she knew this. I believe the real problem was my bathing suit, I know in Korea they wear T-shirts and shorts into the pool and do not wear traditional American bathing suits. However, my bathing suit was a full piece bathing suit that did not show any cleavage and in America it would be considered extremely modest. I feel she did not want me in the pool with the men. I understand if this is Korean culture however we paid the hotel Marriott prices to stay somewhere where the culture should not have mattered. I should’ve been able to enjoy the pool considering that I paid for most of the visit with my American money. I found it very embarrassing to be stopped while entering the pool and being told that I was not allowed to. That was quite frankly bullshit. The woman knew she offended me because as I was leaving, she did an extremely low bow as some sort of apology. The Marriott hotel should train their staff to not interrupt their guests while they are enjoying their vacation.
