JW Marriott Hotel Nara (Nara, Nara Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The JW Marriott hotels always come with a certain dignified gravitas, and that’s even more true of the first one in Japan, set in the ancient (pre-Kyoto) capital city. The JW Marriott Hotel Nara achieves this weighty impression via modernist-inspired design, which makes liberal use of traditional Japanese elements and motifs from Nara’s history and culture. The rooms and suites are equally suited to high-end business travelers and to extravagant leisure stays; there’s a lavish spa and fitness program, and the restaurant, Azekura, combines authentic teppanyaki, sushi, and kaiseki concepts in three distinct spaces." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed here for six nights, and it was truly the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly kind, friendly, and professional. The service exceeded even the excellent Marriott standards I’ve experienced in Europe. We were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful touches throughout our stay — for example, when we rented bikes, the staff had already prepared water bottles for us. The facilities are spacious and well-designed, and the attention to detail made us feel genuinely cared for as guests. I also enjoyed the spa service, which was relaxing and expertly done. Every staff member we met went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. Overall, Nara Marriott Hotel is by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable. We will definitely return!

This is THE BEST place I’ve stayed so far. The hotel is quite new, the staff is super friendly (thanks Jonathan!) and serviceable, I mentioned it was our anniversary and I’ve never had so many details curated for us! They even remembered the date, and congratulated us. The restaurants are pretty good, as well as the rooms. They lend bikes in case you want to ride around in Nara. Also they have shuttles from main train and bus stations. 5 stars!

The hotel would be a perfect hotel if the rooms were not unbelievably noisy. The street noise, particularly from the motorcycles all day and night long is horrible and will not let you sleep. This is because the hotel is surrounded by 3 major streets so no matter where your room is you will always hear a lot of very loud street noise. I don’t understand why they did not use soundproof windows. Otherwise superb service and friendliness of staff. Hotel, rooms and facilities are exceptionally clean. Executive lounge is decent even though we have seen better ones in JW Marriotts with more offerings and better opening hours. Overall, facilities close rather early compared to other properties. Breakfast buffet is very good but local / Asian options outweigh western ones more significantly than in other Marriott hotels in Japan. Location is suboptimal as Nara attractions are at least 30 min on foot from the hotel.

I had the pleasure of staying here, and it was an experience that beautifully combined modern elegance with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The room was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a calming color palette of wood tones and soft lighting. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. I especially liked the artistic branch decor above the bed, which added a natural, sophisticated touch. The sofa and table setup by the window created a perfect spot to relax. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a deep bathtub and a rainfall shower that made for a luxurious bathing experience. The amenities by Aromatherapy provided a soothing fragrance, enhancing the sense of relaxation. The vanity space was also beautifully designed with warm lighting, making it feel more like a private dressing room. Every detail felt carefully considered, down to the wooden deer ornament displayed under glass, which gave a subtle nod to Nara’s famous deer and added a touch of local charm😍

Japanese “aesthetic cultural touch” in hotel interior is much appreciated. A couple of other observations from my perspective: hotel admin might consider improving club lounge limited food offering. It also appears this hotel admin are struggling with “late check out” concept for Marriott club members. Other than that overall - “pure pleasure” to stay at this hotel…

We had a great stay at JW Marriott Nara with our 2 daughters (3 and 7 y.o.), which were comfortably co-sleeping with us in a deluxe double room. Everything, from hotel common spaces to room set up exceeded our expectations. Breakfast buffet was excellent, with lots of choices, Japanese, Western and sweet (one little suggestion, but it's just a personal preference: a sweet option in the order menu would be great addition). Shuttle bus to Nara station was a big plus. Also, our daughter forgot her toy in the room and the staff was so kind to send it to us (in Japan). On top of this, the hotel is really great value for money, especially for families, with even a treasure hunt for kids, which our older daughter really enjoyed. Last but not least, the service, attention to detail and kindness of all the staff was the best we experienced so far and made our stay truly memorable. We come to Japan every year to visit family and we will certainly be back. Thank you for the great stay and we are already looking forward to the next!

Google
Absolute perfection. The amenities, the room, the service... everything and everyone we encountered delivered a 100%. We visited Nara for a day thinking there won't be much else to do. Ended up camping at the hotel because of bad weather and ended up enjoying our stay immensely. Plush robes and great bedding (we didn't use the turndown service, but they offer that daily as well). The pool and jacuzzi were great, and there was also a steam sauna attached with separate men and women's facilities. Had two spa services done and fell asleep during the massage. With all the walking we've been doing, it was fantastic and staff was able to squeeze us in. The breakfast was amazing. So many western and japanese options (we didn't even try half of the offerings). They served us beautiful coffee art and made to order eggs. Loved the green smoothie as well. We only ordered a few things from room service and they were good. What was amazing was how thoughtfully everything was delivered, setup (with multiple condiments, cool towels, plates/cutlery geared for kids) and cleared away. Wish we had stayed longer and will definitely do an extended visit to relax & recoup the next time we come to Japan. We just checked into a 5 star hotel in Tokyo and kid immediately lamented how much nicer the Marriott at Nara was.

We had an amazing stay at the JW Marriott Nara. The staff was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. The service is truly unbelievable — every detail was taken care of with such care and attention. They even surprised my parents with a special breakfast dessert for their wedding anniversary, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Breakfast buffet itself was absolutely delicious — truly one of the best we’ve had. Super recommended!

Yelp
It's hard to start with how amazing this place was for my husband and I. We were told not to spend any nights in Nara, but we were glad to have ignored that piece of advice. If you do visit Nara, this place is a must-stay. From the beginning, the staff was very friendly and helpful towards us. The check-in process started very smoothly. We were gifted complimentary cocktails from the bar. Thuy Nguyen and Xuan Nguyen were excellent hosts. They were able to give us great recommendations for Nara and the drinks to order. Then we made our way to the restaurant. There, we met Sujana, one of the team leads. He went way above and beyone we could imagine. He recommended us the delicious dishes that they had to offer, and was able to provide details of every dish. This place made us not want to explore Nara because it was so comfortable just staying in. The rooms were very clean and the amenities were great. As you can tell, this place won us over, and we will definitely try our best to come back.
