"A Storied History JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa became the brand’s first resort property in 1967. Rumored to be J. Willard Marriott’s favorite gem in his crown of hotels (hence the Camelback Inn’s name), the desert retreat drew the likes of Clark Gable and Bette Davis in its heyday. Now it’s one of the best places to stay when you’re looking for the quintessential Scottsdale experience – luxury and rugged Sonoran Desert beauty. The Spa at Camelback Inn is my favorite highlight with its lineup of massages, facials and body treatments inspired by the resort’s natural setting. Settle in for a Desert Nectar Honey Wrap – a creamy mixture of Arizona honey and oats – then head to the spa’s Sprouts Café to round-out your wellness binge with light and healthy fare."

"Prettily perched near the Phoenix Mountains Preserve, the area is a favorite with third-home owners and Marriott, which inaugurated the JW brand here. Western themes are judiciously presented, from the hacienda style, the chimineas sending out gentle scent, and the casita accommodations, worth the upgrade to signature view. Flowers bloom everywhere at this historic desert gem."

The resort is amazing with great rooms and beautiful views. Room simple but very nice. Room and resort grounds were very clean and well kept. Resort service was excellent and very friendly. Our only complaint is about Lincoln Steakhouse. Our appetizer and sides were fantastic, but our entrees were mediocre at best. We had the New York Strip which was very gristly making a third of it inedible, and the Bacon Crusted Salmon with green apple. The salmon was entirely too salty with the bacon and the acid and sweet of the apple wasn't nearly enough to cut the salt. Despite the the service being excellent throughout the rest of the resort, it fell flat in the restaurant. Our server was inattentive and not as personable as we would have hoped. Our meal, though not insanely priced, was entirely too expensive for what we received. We will absolutely be back to the resort, but will be dining elsewhere.

From the first moment at this hotel, I was extremely impressed. As soon as we arrived they took our bags and allowed us to check in, then drove us right to our room via golf cart while giving us a little tour of the grounds. The campus is expansive yet very easy to navigate and it is beautifully manicured. Upon check in, we had a minor billing issue when they tried to downgrade us, acting like they were doing us a favor by giving us the larger room that we paid for. However, they fixed the issue with a smile which I appreciated! We spent most of our time at the pool. Every day, as soon as we arrived at our chair, a staff member would ask us if we need anything. They would help us arrange our seats so we could be in shade, and bring us food or drinks. The food was delicious, especially the guac and salsa trio, and the drinks were outstanding, especially the "Pop goes the Strawberry". All day the wait staff would come around with water and to check on us, and I felt that any request we had would be handled quickly. The pool itself was clean and large. The view from the pool was breathtaking and it was so nice to look at all day. The towels were plentiful. The music was great and at a good volume. My only issues with the pool were: The water was way too hot for me, but that's probably not in their control. I saw the mister fans at the cabanas, and I thought they could use a few of those around the pool deck as well. I also thought the pool itself would be better with some shaded areas, maybe with some umbrellas around the edge. I think this resort is completely worth the money and I would recommend it to anybody. All issues I had were totally minor and handled quickly and easily. Every single staff member we encountered was so pleasant. I had such a luxurious and relaxing stay.

From the moment I arrived at the Camelback Inn, I was truly impressed. As someone who's worked in hospitality for much of my life, I have high expectations when it comes to service—and this property exceeded them in every way.||The experience started with a warm welcome from the seasoned valet team. I was then taken to my room by golf cart, and the gentleman driving had been with the property for many years. He gave me a brief but fascinating history of the inn, pointing out notable moments and details that added a deeper appreciation for the place. It was one of the most genuinely welcoming arrivals I've ever had.||The hotel also offers a wonderful variety of wellness activities—free hikes, sessions, and thoughtful amenities that really set the tone for a relaxing stay. Even though I was only there for one night, I was able to experience so much because of how much the property offers.||Dining was another highlight. The restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and I loved the little show they put on for guests during meal times. It was such a unique and charming touch that made dining feel even more special.||This Marriott property is, in my opinion, the gold standard for hospitality. Everything from the service to the atmosphere reflects a deep commitment to guest experience. I even heard this is one of Mr. Marriott's favorite properties—and it’s easy to see why.||I can’t wait to return for a longer stay and experience even more of what the Camelback Inn has to offer!

This hotel is beautiful! Everywhere you look there are amazing views! All employees are very nice and friendly. I was treated to a massage at the spa. I arrived a little early for my 11:30 appointment. I was greeted by very nice Spa receptionists and then given a tour. I had a wonderful masseuse. I'm sorry I don't remember her name . Thank you to the Spa Staff for the nice card and gift bag. Very thoughtful! After my relaxing massage , my husband and I had a delicious lunch at the Pool Bar. A very pleasant Emily took great care of us! Looking forward to going back next Spring for a longer stay! Highly recommend this hotel!

My husband and I had planned a five night stay at the Camelback Inn to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We wanted to go and relax. We booked the sundeck room so we could enjoy a private outdoor space. The first two days were fairly nice. The hotel sent a bottle of wine and some chocolate chip cookies to our room for our anniversary which was nice. The stay took a huge turn on Sunday when the Chick-Fil-A group showed up! They were all loud, and rude. They were yelling and running around in the restaurants and all common areas. They had ZERO consideration for other guests. They would crowd walkways and not allow other guest through. Tuesday morning we couldn't even enjoy our breakfast on the patio at Rita's. There were large groups of them RUNNING and YELLING through the patio, and inside the hotel and common areas. For hours you could hear them yelling "DRINK MORE WATER, EAT MORE CHICKEN." At one point they had a COW BELL they were clanking. They took over the entire courtyard area for hours. It felt like we were at an Elementary school Field Day. We couldn't even enjoy our private sundeck because of all the noise. To top it off a drone flew over my PRIVATE sundeck. I'm sure filming the Chick-Fil-A crazy activities. |I understand that resorts make money hosting these type of events. But they should keep all these activities away from the other guests. There wasn't a relaxing spa resort feel!! It was a horrible experience once they arrived. We actually went over to the Arizona Biltmore for a couple hours to have drinks and relax and get away from the chaos!|I don't think I will ever book a stay here again! It was far from my expectations!

Google
we booked the spa for Fourth of July weekend and I was really impressed by the top-notch service we received by Myken. I have to say some spas aren’t great about getting back to you and booking can be difficult, but this was not the case and we were warmly greeted upon our arrival. Our massages were all amazing as well. I would highly recommend the spa and I can’t wait to see the renovations.

My wife and I visited the JW Camelback last week for maybe our seventh time. Knew we would have a great time, but this stay was the best! ||We participated in a very special "A Night in Naples" dining experience. An amazing evening where we were able to meet several other guests at a "family style" setting on the patio while enjoying champagne, charcuterie, and a five-star dinner featuring Italian-inspired dishes and deserts. Two chefs were on hand to personally present each of their courses to the group with pride. ||We had the pleasure of meeting and dining with Jacquie, who is with the JW Camelback. She made the evening that much more enjoyable, sharing great conversation, insights about the dinner, and other fun facts about the property. It made us appreciate the people who are the JW Camelback!||Oh, and yes, stayed in one of the great oversize casitas, end unit, bordering on a very private garden area. What a peaceful place. Amazing grounds, great people.||Yea, we'll be back!

My spouse and I just had a week's stay at the JW Camelback. In all honesty there was nothing about the stay that we did not enjoy. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds, tasty onsite dining options (we especially enjoyed Rita's), comfortable casitas, great location and views of both Camelback and Mummy mountain all made for a great stay. The onsite Starbucks is a plus and the hours of operation were good. We hope for a repeat in the not to distant future.

Yelp
This is a very specific Thank You for some amazing customer service we experienced while doing a birthday brunch at Rita's this weekend. I was on the hunt for some hand lotion and casually asked a couple JW folks at the host stand inside. They promised to look into it and I went back to our group, not really thinking about it. Next we know, Grant Weinmann, the F&B Manager I just spoke with, reappears at our table with a gifted 10oz bottle of their amazing high-end hand lotion... as a gift! Little things like this create moments for your customers and those moments matter. Thank you Grant, that was next-level customer service and very much appreciated. Great job hiring great people Marriott. Looking forward to coming back next weekend!

Yelp
Signage, this place needs more signage to direct people. You get there, the person in the golf cart needs to tell me where the main door is. And I wasn't the only one who didn't know. I tried to walk from my room to the main building, I was about to walk in the wrong direction when I asked someone who directed me correctly. The room, big and spacious. But the walls remind me of a Courtyard. They were speckled. Otherwise, the bathroom was updated. The room felt desert-y. The main building was nice and clear with very nice staff. The front desk again could use signage. I did not see a "reception" sign or "bonvoy" sign. Use the golf carts to get around, it'd too hot to walk. Wish I could have used the facilities. Pickleball, tennis, bikes, seems outfitted nicely.

Yelp
I generally enjoyed my stay here. Just like any place, there are pluses and minuses Pluses Large expansive report with golf, golf carts rides, several restaurants, friendly service, big pool, large rooms, two sinks Free water at the front desk Resort is in a good location Nice grounds and landscaping Minuses I think housekeeping missed some things, I.e. at check in there was a half eaten sandwich left in the fridge from a prior guest I assume, and I saw some debris on the floor. Usually at check in, I'd be more wowed. Prices at the restaurants were high ($18 kids meal? Lol) On site starbucks closed at 3pm ? Overall I liked the place but some minor tweaking would make it that much better. Front desk was very friendly and accommodating, more so than just a regular hotel

Yelp
Been here many times. This is quiet and tucked away. I was here for enjoy the 4th of July weekend. We got a room near the fireworks and it felt like we had a private view of the fireworks just for us. I was enjoy most of from the private pool from the room. This resort has been my stayvacation choice many times. The spa is awesome here too.

Yelp
Everything was gorgeous! The details were next level. It's a huge property with an event space, rooms, pools, etc. We were here for a girls day at the pool. We booked a resort pass including a cabana for the day and had access to the Jackrabbit pool. It was super easy, we were helped quickly at the check in counter in the main building and then given our key cards and directions to the pool from there. The staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and provided excellent directions/details. The pool was stunning. The mountains surrounding the pool offer amazing views. We were there on a Monday so hardly anyone was at the pool. There were cabanas, pool chairs, a bar, and a few different pools. We had reserved a cabana and it was worth it. The chairs had really comfortable cushions on them, a mini fridge with complimentary sodas and water, and a perfect view of the pool and mountains. We got a drink and lunch at the pool. The frozen drinks were delicious! For lunch, I got the Buddah bowl and wasn't super impressed. It was a small portion with limited ingredients at a high price. We were also given a complimentary fruit plate but it wasn't great either. Their pool food could improve. Overall an awesome experience. All of their staff had excellent hospitality, everything was clean, and it had a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. The pool pass was awesome, I would love to stay there someday.

Yelp
Very relaxing stay at the JW Marriott Camelback resort. We played pickleball every day. The food at Rita's was excellent. One morning after pickleball we picked a delicious ripe grapefruit off a tree and ate it for breakfast. One night we got a late to-go pizza. My son asked a staff member for some paper plates. The individual proceeded to provide us with real plates, silverware and linen napkins so we could eat on our patio. Lovely stay!

Yelp
It was my birthday weekend and I had chosen the JW Marriott Camelback in Scottsdale to celebrate. It was also the week before Father's Day and my Dad happened to be visiting from out of town so we decided to take the whole family. In one room it was Myself, my husband, my three-year-old son, and my puppy. Yes, they are dog friendly and it's amazing. In the other room was my Father. We actually were able to get an adjoining rooms which I didn't think would be possible because my Dad had a king and we had two queens, but somehow it worked out and we were so grateful. Another concern I had right off the bat was we wanted to get there early on a Saturday and hit the pool but without being able to check into our room we wouldn't have a place for our pup. I had messaged them ahead of time asking to have the room ready and, your great surprise, it was ready for us when we got there. Shout out to Aiden, who was so great in explaining the property and answering all of our questions while checking us in. My dad's room took about 45 minutes after we checked in, but it still worked out perfectly and they actually brought the keys to us so we didn't have to go back to the lobby. The rooms are Casita style, so it is very convenient. You just drive your car and park right there at your room. Very easy to get your stuff in and out. We were over by the pool area, which was even more convenient since we were planning to be there all day. By the time we got to the pool, my husband had got us a cabana. I have to take a moment and just give proper credit where credit is due. We had the most amazing person helping us. His name is Joseph and he is the manager of the pool. He and my husband chatted and he got us our cabana, noted that it was my birthday. He came over to me and we talked for a while. He has kids close to the same age as our son and the baby in my belly! We chatted about that and how amazing this age is. He paid such great attention to us the entire time. He was so attentive and so kind to my son. My son would run up to him and say "Joseph, I want french fries!" Literally, less than five minutes later, french fries would appear. It was amazing. He even brought me over a complimentary piece of cake & coconut water for my birthday. He brought over a bucket of bomb pops-you know, those red and blue popsicles that remind you of 4 July? I'm pretty sure my son, father, and Dad were liking them more than anyone at the pool! We ordered a lot of food from the pool because we were there all day. I would recommend getting the cabana because they really are truly nice. You get your own misters, TV, it comes with a complimentary fruit platter, water, and soft drinks. You also get someone who will be so attentive. We also had Emilia helping us and she was absolutely amazing. Shout out to her. She was working hard! So sweet to my son and everyone as well. We ordered a margarita, flatbread-pizza, burger and sweet potato fries, Cobb salad, hummus off of the kids menu, chips with salsa and guacamole, and probably more, that's all I can think of right now, but we definitely went hard. Something about being at the pool we just kept getting hungry. The pool itself was really nice. It got really busy towards the end. We left around 4 o'clock to get ready for our dinner reservation over at the Lincoln Steakhouse-separate review. We had breakfast at Rita's Cantina the next morning as well, which I will post separately about. Reservations highly recommended for both. That Sunday I went to their spa and got an expectant mother massage and I highly recommend going to their spa. Beautiful and amazing services. Also comes highly recommended and will do another review separately for. The property is tucked into the Camelback mountains, the Casita style rooms are gorgeous and so convenient. The service was probably the best I've ever had and I used to travel for a living so that says a lot. I think we all walked away saying that the service was the strongest thing about the experience. I highly recommend treating yourself to this experience, you won't regret it. Whether you're traveling far to visit, beautiful Scottsdale, or if you're like us and just needed a little staycation, this property is the place to do it.

Yelp
I came here with a friend with a resort pass for the pool on a Sunday. We thought that this resort was so beautiful and we really enjoyed our time by the pool. I got the guac tray and a piña colada. Both were great but the drinks are definitely pricey here but I expected that to be the case. I have to note that the service was amazing, the staff here works so hard and is very kind and attentive.

Yelp
I had a fantastic stay at JW MSC! The rooms were very cozy and clean! Very beautiful location! I love that the Mummy Mountain is literally right behind the property. It's a an easy trail to hike. The pool was amazing with a view of Camelback Mountain! It was a great place to relax after the hike at Mummy Mt. They also have a restaurant and depending on what time you go ... they have live music/band! The entire place is just fancy and beautiful. I would definitely stay here again. The only reason why I took off a star is because it was very pricey. Other than that ... I truly enjoyed my stay .

I stayed at the Marriott for my birthday in August and I couldn't have had more fun! The pools and the lazy river were so much fun! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Really loved our stay! Service was over the top. Our room wasn't ready at the time of check in and we had some significant maintenance issues (central heating and the fireplaces didn't work....it was late November and cold at night ) but the hotel went above and beyond trying to rectify the issues. The comped us drinks at Rita's while we waited for our room to be ready, comped us basically a whole night stay between the late check in and maintenance issue, and gave us a 2pm late check out. We were also upgraded to the "Jackrabbit Suite" and it was epic! Huge room (including a half bath, wet bar, whole kitchen minus a stove, big dining room table) and outdoor space with its own pool and outdoor fireplace. Beautiful views of camelback mountain. Great time and would recommend!

Yelp
Came here this past Sunday for a 10:30AM Aromatherapy Massage with Brittney. She was excellent!! I wish I did the 90 minute massage. She lets you look at the aromatherapy menu and I ended up picking Renew! After picking it, Brittney said it was the most popular and man, I wish I could remember the ingredients/scents now! The spa is very clean, and the quiet room had different infused water, nuts for snacking, adult coloring books, plenty of PEOPLE magazine (my guilty pleasure and many others that were there lol), and a fireplace. There is an outdoor seating area outside the spa's quiet room where you can also wait as the inside room did get super full in the morning. The spa has a indoor jacuzzi (quiet section), 1 steam room and 1 sauna + outdoor lap pool. The outdoor pool shows the beautiful Arizona mountains in the back. Food-wise, there was a limited lunch menu. The staff recommended the salmon and smoothies but they were out of salmon today. We tried their salad and beef panini which was a big portion and good! This was my first time in Scottsdale celebrating my future SIL's Bachelorette and what a way to end the bachelorette weekend. It was about 25 minutes away from Scottsdale and about 20 minutes to the airport so it was a perfect location. The staff's customer service (from the front desk check in to the spa front desk tour to the masseuse to the pool man). If you're celebrating something, they will give you a complimentary drink of your choice :) Shout out to the pool man who ended up comping us both drinks! Helpful Tips: * You can leave your luggage if you're visiting --the staff quickly took all 4 of our luggage pieces right when we entered and was very quick to give it back to us which was great while waiting for Uber/Lyft *Uber/Lyft-- for some reason, the front desk was insistent on telling us that most ride shares had trouble getting to the Spa & Resort section and offered golf carts to the main resort (my Lyft found it easily though and I didn't even put the exact address) *Book in advance-- they are busy and it isn't the biggest spa (which is nice); I had to book mine a few months prior *There is sunscreen inside the spa so you don't need to bring any

Yelp
Despite my better judgment, I let my husband convince me to stay at the Marriott Camelback, and I'm already regretting it less than 12 hours into our stay. The front desk and the NOT 'At Your Service' team have been completely unresponsive to even the simplest requests, offering zero customer service. The only saving grace has been Michael at the steakhouse and Nick by the pool, both of whom provided exceptional service. In hindsight, we should have returned to the Four Seasons. Save yourself the trouble and choose another resort.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful! I was in town for a work conference and was completely shocked when I saw where we were staying. The rooms are set up to give you the feeling of your own private retreat, and the rooms are massive. A normal room here would be the equivalent of a suite anywhere else. My only complaint I had was the water temperature in the room. Most places I've stayed you could give yourself burns from the temperature, this wasn't the case here. The positive is they have some plush robes in the room that helped to warm up. I wasn't able to eat at any of the restaurants, but had food that was prepared for the event and it was very good! The property is large, but they offer a golf cart ride with a simple phone call. The pictures do not begin to show how beautiful this place is. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Service was amazing! Views are nothing short of incredible. Tons of water features. Miles from dining options other than a small bar / restaurant on property along with a steakhouse, also on property.

Yelp
Very nice tranquil property. Lots of activities offered but frankly can be too hot to partake in many of them during the daytime. Thankfully a few are available at night (tennis etc). Pool open late and really pretty falls/sprinklers in the pool. Jacuzzi works like magic. Lots of beautiful plants and flowers throughout, and you can catch a glimpse of some of the beautiful birds and wildlife if you're vigilant! Otherwise grounds can seem a bit empty. Hotel room was nice and roomy, very quaint and thoughtful decor, AC was blasting all night, so the room was nice and chilly, but strangely the bathrooms felt stuffy and poorly aerated. Wifi was considerably fast. You can kind of hear your neighbors a tad (I think they were above us) and overhear bits of their conversation. Made us a bit nervous to watch the TV at any volume. Parking very easy throughout the property, though I wish they had some covered options! In general staff here are very nice and accommodating, not overbearing. Restaurant options- I prefer Rita's. We ended up dining there for most meals. Lincoln's is their on-property steakhouse. But to be honest their steak leaves a lot to be desired. I go into a whole thing about it on the separate review for the restaurant. Rita's however was great. I highly recommend their Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas! Servers are great! Late night room service is also a life saver with many answers to any cravings. When I was there (past weekend), the main gym was closed. We were able to use the spa gym but they closed at 8 everyday. Girls at the spa are nice. The gym itself had sufficient equipment but it obviously wasn't equipped like an actual workout gym. 1-2 benches with limited incline options, full set of dumbbells, a smith machine, a variety of machines, a few treadmills, ellipticals, Pelotons. The cardio machines were pretty new. They also had the newer training area off to the corner where people can follow a virtual trainer. Interesting new cable system too. Chilled Eucalyptus towels available. There are also like a million fans running in there I had to turn them off Overall a nice place to relax and wind down, but not a ton of stuff to do if it's hot. Easy access to city, airport, etc. watch out for speeding cameras both at intersections and on the streets surrounding the resorts. May be new to you if you aren't local to the area. You'll notice most people drive at or below the 45mph speed limit

Yelp
Beautiful Hotel and Resort. We went weekend getaway from Seattle before Christmas and so satisfied that our family enjoyed so much and would like to come back again which is rarely happens anywhere. Our Mountain View 6th floor was exquisite with perfect weather in Scottsdale. For the room service was a little bit off when asked extra hangers, no delivery. Other departments were very nice and thoughtful. Overall, we are happy to stay at JW Marriott Scottsdale.

Yelp
After encountering something unfortunate at our bi-level suite the manager was very kind and upgraded us to a Parlor suite which was gorgeous and very luxurious! My husband has a high status with Marriott so maybe that is also why we got so lucky. The room has a private pool, two bedrooms and three bathrooms. The two bedrooms are adjoining rooms to the main living/dining and kitchen. The beds were very comfortable, all of the pillows were down but I would prefer a firmer pillow or choice of pillows. Our family had plenty of room to relax. The room service took 2 hours on a Sunday night, so you may want to order room service early. The main pool was very warm and heated with plenty of seating. A woman came around offering free craft cocktails on a Saturday. The food at the pool was very good, the chicken quesadillas were great. The gym had several treadmills, bikes and ellipticals. The gym also had free weights and an arm and leg machine. There is a scale in the gym where you can weigh yourself, if your that brave. The property is absolutely gorgeous!! There are some short walking paths through the garden which is very tranquil. We saw several hummingbirds. Everything is in walking distance.

Yelp
This spa was a great respite from the sweltering heat back home. Came here for a tech conference and was truly impressed with the entire staff. From the bell stand to the check-in desk to the cantina on site, every one was pleasant and accommodating during my stay. First thing you'll notice when you arrive is the cleanliness of the grounds. The gardens were very well kept and this was evident in the secret gardens and landscaping throughout the property. If you were lucky enough to have a balcony or a porch in your casita, you can definitely enjoy having a cup of morning coffee or a night cap outside as long as the weather permits. As you enter the room, the focal point is definitely the large wood beams in the ceiling. The rooms were clean and the sheets were soft and inviting. I couldn't hear the room next to me make any type of noise so I had the best sleep while I was here. Breakfast during the conference were served outside on the Sonoran terrace. With nice weather and the Camelback hills as your backdrop, you almost felt like you were here strictly on vacation mode. However, still spent most of the day attending meetings indoors in the Arizona ballroom. The staff really made sure the food was exquisite at every meal and the service attentive. I really wanted to treat myself to a nice full body massage service or a facial during my short stay. However, there were no appointments available. With a Four Diamond award for 2022 from AAA, there is no question this property lives up to this standard in hospitality. Camelback Inn is definitely a place where you can let yourself relax and come back to now and again.

Yelp
This place is a whole vibe. A spiritual vibe. I absolutely cannot wait to return. The staff is wonderful . And the aromatherapy toiletries are delightful. There's a cart just a phone call away to transport one anywhere around the expansive grounds. The restaurants on site are delicious also, as I ate dinner and breakfast there. They are very accommodating also in terms of late checkouts, if needed. When I travel, I never think of the fact that my ancestors did not have the privilege of moving about as freely and be as many spaces as me. Additionally, many are NOW in 2023, not afforded this and still are not welcomed in many covert ways. I didn't get to have spa treatments --YET.

Yelp
A beautiful resort with immaculate grounds and kind and attentive staff as well. I used to visit the property often for happy hour but never stayed when I lived in the valley but my boyfriend and I came back for a July 4 vacation. The rooms are casita style and very spacious. If this is your first time at the property, I would advise to have the Bell Stand guide you to the room the first time as the rooms are spread out across the property. There was a mini fridge and wine fridge (empty) and microwave and the bathroom was well lit. We also had a partial mountain view. The pool has an excellent view of Camelback mountain and the pool staff was great! They were never far and always checked in to see if there was anything they could get us. The atmosphere was decently quiet, there was not too many children running about, and no DJ blasting music. Each day there was some live music and some entertainment, like balloon animals or a photobooth. We had Spa appointments on Saturday and they were great. I believe my massuse's name was Jeanette, and she was wonderful. She went through each type of oil and lotion and even gave me options of what scents I wanted. Compared to the rest of the property, I felt the Spa could use an update, some of the other resorts in the valley have a more modern spa facility. The Spa items do smell amazing, there was a salt scrub at each sink and the lotions are awesome! Overall, the resort is great. The grounds are beautiful and well kept (you can even see bunnies in the grass in the evening) and the facilities are nice. I would recommend this property for a staycation or a vacation! I am looking forward to coming back for a visit.

Yelp
It certainly wasn't a bad stay, just not one of the better resorts I've been to. I'll start with the good, we stayed in a cabana which was nice and roomy. The main pool was big and the food/drink service at the pool was great. It was very relaxing. My partner and I don't golf or do pickleball so if that's your thing this resort might be more worth it for you. Now the bad. Unfortunately, we had an issue with mosquitos and had to have them come spray a few times. The bed was also pretty uncomfortable, compared to other resorts I'd give the bed a 1/5. The resort was quite big, they have complimentary parking which is good because most things were not within walking distance. If I didn't bring my car I would have been miserable walking everywhere. One of my biggest complaints is that they have two pools, one of which is adult only, but to use it you need to purchase a spa package (which are all around 200$). Most resorts I've been to have had the adult pool included so that was a bummer. The food situation was pretty mid level, we enjoyed the steakhouse, but the quality everywhere else was sub par. We tried the Sunday brunch, which was 90$ per person. It definitely was not worth it, save your money and do the regular buffet. In my opinion the highlight was the poolside drinks. The wait staff made sure we always had a drink when we wanted one, and they were all very good. Lastly, we had some food delivered to the room and there was a 5 dollar delivery fee, which was fine, but there was also a 12 dollar extra fee, which it did not really say why. I personally will be trying a different resort next time.

Yelp
We had a beautiful stay here at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback. Our room was a sweet little casita with a patio. The restaurants were clean and the food fresh. They staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was close to the country club and tpc golf course.

Yelp
We came to town to visit our adult children. We stayed here on Marriott points and absolutely loved it! The best part about this entire complex is the poolside restaurant/bar. What a great atmosphere and the food is amazing!

Yelp
People do rave about this place? For people who want to get away, please read and note that this place is NOT a resort. We checked in on our room and this is what we found... there were large bugs (we counted 15) DISGUSTING. When we called the front desk we waited 10 minuted for someone to answer. They asked if we needed someone to come and spray. Idiots. No class. This place is a DUMP.

Yelp
Lovely resort! Exceptionally clean room, thank you, Juana! Over priced spa. Delicious appetizers in comfortable lounge, great service. Highlight of the hotel was the GQ gorgeous, friendly, helpful bell staff. Will definitely return.

Yelp
I am a long time Marriot fan and stay in them all the time. I have stayed at both JW's in the Phoenix area and this one did not disappoint. This one feels more intimate and in touch with nature in its design. The rooms were spacious with lots of parking. The fact that everything is a casita style instead of a traditional hotel adds to the ambiance. I had the breakfast buffet several times and I was not disappointed.

Yelp
I had an absolutely wonderful time staying at your beautiful property this past weekend!! Everyone from the pool attendants, room service attendants, to housekeeping provided us with A+ service even though it was 114 degrees outside! I especially want to thank Holden who was the front desk agent who checked us in. He provided us with details about the property and even sent me macrons and champagne to me and fiancée for my birthday. We want to thank him for his warm hospitality and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Definitely a beautiful resort! Enjoyed using the Jack Rabbit Pool, the golf cart rides around the resort, and the beautiful convention hall space. The casita was so lovely--appreciated the patio space to sit outside in the morning. I wish that there were more walking trails around the resort to enjoy all the desert flora. We were here for a sorority convention, and they were very accomodating. There is nothing really within walking distance of the resort, so you are stuck ordering in or calling an uber if you want to get around. Luckily, the food is solid (though overpriced) at the on-site restaurants. However, the food for the convention dinners was pretty lack-luster--the girls were all very hungry and were underwhelmed by the catering.

Yelp
My boyfriend comes here every year and this time I was able to go. We had a wonderful time. The staff was wonderful and accommodating to all our needs. I highly encourage everyone to stay here, because it's a place to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Yelp
Enjoyed my birthday weekend here with my daughter. The grounds of this hotel are beautiful - especially the gardens behind the lobby. This resort has everything you need from several restaurants, Starbucks on-site, a pool, spa and fitness center. There was ample parking. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The bathroom finishes are a little dated. They had a double bathroom set up with a door to the inside, but it would have been nice to have a pocket door on the outside as well. The only negative to the room as you could hear everything from your neighbor's rooms, whether they were upstairs or beside you. This was not great and we also experienced other vacant room alarms going off at 6 am every morning. They must be set and turned on by housekeeping. We were awoken every day to an alarm that wouldn't stop until we called the front desk. Not very relaxing. We did love that we received housekeeping services every day. This is not always the case at most other hotels. We managed to lock ourselves out on the patio. This is common based on the reviews. Luckily we were on the first floor and had our phones with us and could walk around and unlock the front door with our mobile key! If not, it wouldn't have been easy. We spent most of our time at the Jack Rabbit pool and enjoyed service from Micaela at Hoppin Jacks. She was attentive and friendly. We missed the 4th of July rush, so the pool was not crowded until the weekend. Overall a lovely weekend here. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great hotel and resort. I've been here multiple times for business and pleasure. The staff is top notch and the service is great. Rooms are very clean.

Yelp
Location, location, location...the location is great as are the views and the people. The staff was very friendly and the resort restaurants/bar were great. Everything was very comfortable and the reason behind my 4 stars has to do with value. The nightly rates are not inexpensive and I would have expected more attention to fine details...the bathrooms and particularly the shower are small, the interior room doors have cracking, the rooms are noisy...particularly in the morning as the staff arrives and starts work...I could hear conversation from people walking by my room as well as those in adjacent rooms. I wish I could give it a 5 star rating but it is too expensive not to get the details correct.

Yelp
We had such amazing service when we went here. The resort is absolutely beautiful and Anna Nikki and Jade was fabulous at the front desk at the spa. Sammy on the patio passing out drinks was quick and efficient. Would definitely recommend visiting the spa for your next vacation, staycation for girls day.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Love the ambience! Tried several appetizers too and they were perfect

Yelp
This place is beautiful. Came here for a dance convention and it is a beautiful accommodation. The individual rooms are so charming, the landscape is gorgeous and the pools are clean and so well staffed. Love this plaza. Would come back.

Yelp
WAOW. This is a fancy shmancy spot. If you want a nice and relaxing stay in Arizona. A great place to stay, preferably for adults but there were some kids and families there. Maybe an option to celebrate a getaway or bachelorette with some girlfriends or with your significant other for a nice romantic getaway. SO MANY amenities i.e. heated swimming pool, spa ( apparently considered top #10 in U.S.? Or something or other according to our bell boy) , free driving range, hiking trail, 3-4 different restaurants, a starbucks, giftshop, you can rent or borrow some bikes, and that's all I can remember. The resort is huge. You can hail a golf cart to take you anywhere if you need to get from one side to the other anytime. But, the scenery and mountains and cacti were so beautiful we walked mostly ourselves. Our room was huge. Everything is wide and open. Beautiful. Decor is western, indian, contemporary themed with browns, tans, leather, and orange color pallette. Very classy and modern. We stayed a total 3 days , two nights and we never left the resort. This is pretty much a one stop shop. The service is excellent and the staff were very friendly, personable and attentive truthfully.

Yelp
The resort is beyond beautiful! Everyone has been more than kind to me and my family for the two days we stayed. We spent an entire day at the jackrabbit pool where we were helped multiple times by Mike. Mike waited on the four of us all day. He was very attentive as well as personable, keeping us well hydrated, fed, and laughing.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 5 stars based on available services during the COVID pandemic. There were disappointing aspects of this trip but I cant blame the resort for being cautious and responsible. The resort itself is very pretty with the mountains in every view. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful when we needed help. At the time of the trip the resort was basically shut down from Monday - Wednesday. Most restaurants, spa and gift shop were closed these days. I arrived late Saturday night and left first thing Thursday morning so we didn't get to enjoy any of those amenities. The gym is by appointment only so if you plan on using it you need to make a reservation. There was no live music that we were aware of even though the website said it was everyday. The pool was nice so we wound up spending every afternoon there. The weekends were busy so finding 2 chairs together was tough but the weekdays were wonderful. The pool staff came around starting at 11AM for drinks and food. Their service was exception, the best we had anywhere during the trip. The food option was pretty simple and was the same as the open restaurant so we ate off property every night for a change of pace. Prices were a little high in my opinion but if thats your only option, you suck it up. Breakfast started at 7AM and all was very good. It came quickly and the portions were big. There is a Starbucks on property if you prefer that. Every day we tried a different activity that was included in the resort fee. We took advantage of renting bikes, tennis equipment and hiking. Check with the front desk about tennis courts, they fill up quickly. Biking was a lot harder than we thought because of the hills so keep that in mind. Bottled water is available when renting equipment. They also offer time at the driving range at the Camelback golf club. It is off property but only about 5 miles away. We weren't planning on golfing that day and wore athletic clothes and felt underdressed for sure. They supply the clubs, water and your own cart to take you to the driving range. We had a lot of fun but would have dressed appropriately next time. While I was disappointed, what services they could offer were good. The room was beautiful and much larger than I expected.

Yelp
On this weekend staycation, we were put in a Deluxe Pool Suite on the lower slope of Mummy Mountain with a wood burning fireplace and large patio with private heated pool and excellent views of Camelback Mountain. The large suite had 3 full bathrooms all with walk in showerws, a full kitchen with bar plus two separate wet bars, dining room, living room with that great fireplace, seven entry doors, three of which opened onto our expansive patio. The 92 degree pool sure came in clutch in Saturday's cold rain! I was able to relax in the warm pool for hours while the light rain fell. Absolutely loved it and love the property in general. Staff kept a supply of fire logs in our room, upon request, so we were able to enjoy several fires while we were there. Beautiful sprawling desert grounds with the heart of the resort open spaces being wonderfully manicured with gardens and flowing water. Lots of walking paths meandering through and around the resort and of course the Mummy Mountain Cookout western town at the top is cool to see. We dined at both Lincoln and Rita's, enjoyed cocktails at Rita's bar and took advantage of room service. Top notch meals and service all around, and a really great weekend staycation for us. This is not our first time at the property, nor will it be our last.

Yelp
I recently stayed here with a gf for a girls spa wknd and had a wonderful time. The location and grounds are stunning and your view of the Camelback mountains can't be beat. Pros: - Beautiful and spacious rooms w/balconies - Access to multiple restaurants & Starbucks onsite - Wknd live music around fire pits - Onsite ground transportation by golf cart provided by resort - Amazing spa facilities and access to amenities all day long w/treatment Cons: - Upon arrival in heavy rain our room started leaking and relocation and attention took some time on night 1 (though we were given a credit and apology) - Pretty pricey, though you get what you pay for!

Yelp
Let me start by saying the hotel is beautiful. I was there for a wedding on property. I stupidly left a diamond necklace on the table and forgot to put it on before an early flight. I realized it when I got home and called the hotel immediately. Let me say that this happened 12/4/22, the hotel was contacted first thing 12/5/22. After speaking with their loss prevention department many times- and having to tell the entire story and where we were at every time, being promised a call back and not receiving one ever (until officer Rick- thank you for being the only to actually call me back). I was finally able to make a claim with Marriott International, only to be told the next day that the hotel cannot accept responsibility. The email from the Marriott Claims adjuster. "I was very concerned to learn about the disappearance of your necklace during your stay. I can certainly appreciate the way you feel as well as the displeasure this incident has caused. Although I share your frustration, I regret to advise you that JW Scottsdale Camelback Inn cannot accept responsibility. Occurrences of this nature are addressed by the Innkeepers Statute for the State of AZ. In short, a hotel owner is under no obligation for the loss, theft, or unexplained disappearance of guest's money, jewelry, or valuable property, which has not been placed in the hotel's custody for safekeeping. Notification to this effect is posted inside each guest room as well as in other common areas of the hotel as prescribed by law. Therefore, we will not be reimbursing you for the loss. Again, I apologize that this unfortunate incident took place and hope that your future experiences with JW Scottsdale Camelback Inn are of a more positive nature." I have been a Marriott and now Bonvoy member for years and I'm so appalled by how this was handled. This wasn't a T-shirt that was left, it was a diamond necklace. I knew exactly where it was left when I took it off the night before we checked out. I expected a lot more from you Marriott.

Yelp
Wow. This hotel is unreal. I stayed here for 3 days for our company meeting. When I checked out, the rep said I had no balance (of course, since I hadn't consumed anything in the room or asked for any type of service). Two weeks after the fact, I see that there is a hold of $150 on my credit card. I called and left a message with their billing dept. They never called me back. So, a week after, I asked for the billing dept again and no one answered, so I was transferred to the front desk manager (Aaron) and he said he would send a note to them asking them to release the hold. Today, I checked my credit card statement and they ended up charging me! So, I'd like to know why the hell did they charge me? How can a hotel charge me w/o telling me what they're charging me for? This practice should be illegal. So, if you're staying here, I would double check your credit card statement after your stay to check if they charge you. Thieves! And of course, I'm disputing the charge!

Yelp
Beautiful grounds! This place is really amazing if you love cactus and succulents. The walkways are fabulous and provide huge, gorgeous plants at every turn. Our room was clean and neat, with a nice patio and more fun cactus to gaze upon. Breakfast was delicious. Lots of options, including a buffet. The only downside is that it's a bit of a drive (20 minutes) to get anywhere else you might want to go away from the resort property.

Yelp
It was my first time at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback and it's a great property. I had come here for a work function. I was dropped off near the front desk. And was told to leave my bags right there by the roundabout driveway as we had to go into the lobby to check in. The resort is sectioned off in different little buildings. The one that I was in probably had 10 units altogether or so. And the rooms were fairly huge. Is very spacious and very relaxing. With it being August in Scottsdale it was a very hot outside. So I'm glad the air conditioning was working well. The water temperature in the restroom is always a little bit tricky. I wasn't sure whether or not the water was actually hot because it was very hot outside or it was because the hot and cold knobs for mismatched. Even by the end of my trip I can figure it out so I would have to try combination of both. They do have golf carts where they can drop you off and also pick you up wherever your room is. It makes it very convenient for those people are living a little further out. Luckily my room was close to where the festivities were and I was able to walk. The location of the ballrooms we're great. The decorations are very modern and chic. I was a huge fan of the very high ceilings and it didn't make it feel claustrophobic at all without being in meetings all day long. I can't wait to come back to this resort in the future

Yelp
My last visit 2 years ago was horrible but we returned for our conference and had a wonderful time. Service was absolutely amazing. I really can't say enough about the service. I love all the restaurants on site and the spa as well as pools are amazing!! The grounds are beautiful. Definitely alot of walking so not so handicapable friendly but you xan call for a golf cart ride to the front.

Yelp
First time here and would come back in a heart beat. The grounds were gorgeous! Well kept and the perfect luxury desert atmosphere. The spa was really nice and we enjoyed our day there. The pool was really tranquil there and the service was fantastic. Delicious margaritas. We preferred this pool over the main but both were nice. The starbucks at the resort was really nice and a great morning walk. Rooms were spacious and clean.

Yelp
I traveled to Arizona for a few days for a combo business/pleasure trip. I attended a two-day conference but also saved some time to enjoy and explore the area. Since the conference was held here at the Camelback Inn, I got a good rate staying here. As with all of my hotel reviews, I'm going to separate this into pros and cons - so here we go! The Camelback Inn is owned by Marriott, and operates under its luxury JW Marriott brand. The biggest pro of this resort has to be the accommodations. The grounds are gorgeous - the rooms are spread out over 100 acres with intricate architecture, lots of interesting landscaping, and a number of places to sit and enjoy your surroundings. The decor was such Arizona; the resort has an interesting history, even before being bought out by Marriott and it's nice to see that the original vision and aesthetics have been kept. My room was very nice - it was spacious and contained a number of amenities like a smart TV, Keurig machine, and a nice outdoor patio. The king size bed was super comfortable, as were the pillows. My only critique would be that the mechanics of the shower door need to be improved - you are forced to open it to turn the shower on which can feed water onto the floor (having an opening in the glass by the knob would have been better). Customer service was also great - I had a few issues upon checking in and they made sure everything was taken care of and followed up on. The resort houses two restaurants as well as a gift shop and a Starbucks. I dined at one of the restaurants for breakfast twice and had great meals both times. Additionally, I ordered room service my last night which was seamless from start to finish. The conference was held in their ballroom which I can easily see having multiple uses. In summary, everything about this resort reads high end. I can't find many cons, but if I had to choose I would say that you need to be prepared for a little walk to your room. The resort is pretty spread out, and it can be a bit confusing finding your way around - I don't even think I saw all of it. Also, there's really no commercial businesses surrounding the hotel, so you'll have to drive a little to get to something outside of the hotel. In summary, I really enjoyed my stay at Camelback Inn. I feel it really lives up to its luxury branding and provides excellent customer service and accommodations. If I ever found myself in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area again I would definitely consider staying here again.
